Hard to get excited over anything Bethesda says these days, but yes, adding fleets, carriers, planet to planet travel, new faction, this all sounds great. But I won’t hold my breath.

They are moving slower than molasses.

Yeah, I’m almost entirely sure that whatever is coming will be heavily based on space combat and space gameplay, which is great, because it’s an area that the game is surprisingly lacking. Most content is planetside.

Interesting analysis. I’m personally a bit of a hater of this game, but I wish it all the best, because of my love for the studio’s previous games, and my hopes for TES6. I hope that the space update, if it does happen, will be a kind of “2.0 update” for Starfield, or rather, the beginning of a great revival, and that the game will become truly good and beloved by players, but it will require a lot of work.

The only way they could possibly get me back is if they overhaul the space exploration completely. Id basically have to be a different game. Idk how todd howard looked at starfield then to elite dangerous or no man sky and said “up that meets the bare minimum of a space game in todays market” i hate how i got the 100 dollar version of starfield.

I am looking at this and the Image of the ECS Constance in the Video file. It took the Constance approx 200 years to get to the settled systems. Soooo how long would it have taken a Fleet “Armada” to get to a different system? I can not help but think that another group clandestinely left Earth and they settled somewhere else ( the map is almost entirely to the right of the Sol system ). It is my guess that there will be a map expansion to the left of Sol and they are invading. Possibly due to their area getting invaded by aliens????

Bethesda is a bad studio. Point blank, they are lazy, slow, no creativity, just the bare minimum. I mean the game has bugs, issues, broken storylines and factions. They need new talent and new direction otherwise they are going to dead like BioWare and Ubisoft. Disrespect the fans, treat them like an afterthought and your studio will end up the same way.

Basically manage your expectations heavily this might just be a new shader 😂😂😂.

Its a massive ship update. Ship parts, new ship mechanics, probably changes to build screen. That’s all I think it is. It’s not going to be a story DLC just more content.

Now an idea of my own. For some reason I’m not quite sure I believe the Supercruise feature will be exactly as we hope. Just from a couple lines of code we are completely sure its going to function like the Astro gate mod??😮 Really?

I’ve been giving Starfield a bit of a rest , I’m playing the Mass effect trilogy right now . Hopefully when I get back to Starfield there will be some new things to do .

Thing is, DLC will not fix the problem, or any content updates will fix the big issues of Starfield. The tiny capitols, the toothless, bland characters, the boring ass main quests. 😭

I personally think that Terran Armada might be something alike the Trackers Alliance smaller tier DLCs. As ZeniMax did not reserve a trademark for “Terran Armada” like how it’s the case for “Starborn” and “Shattered Space” it’s unlikely to be something being sold outside of Creations as a product under their brand.

Also I think there will be some lore associated with it and I might have at least an interesting idea which unlikely would turn out to be true – however it could route back to earths evacuation and the people left behind. Maybe in some different Universe these could have taken action after discovering on their own that Nova Galactic caused their home to turn inhabitable resulting in a war. This war could have turned them to get control over the grav drive technology, led by one of the Starborn who made people able to cross universes with their ships.

As one pointed out this could be the “Terran Preservation Society” but in a hostile way, trying to destroy those who messed with earth across universes. Pure hardliners.

With an infinite number of possible universes one could certainly have gestated an evil empire of humans who upon gaining access to grav jump technology rapidly conquer multiple versions of the milky way galaxy.
Or the Silurian hypothesis. The Terrans referred to are actually the primordial sentients of Earth who hundreds of millions of years ago created the Unity. They have returned with an armada to take back the galaxy from a bunch of try hard apes.

i think i was expecting you to mention the not so unrealistic industry rumours surrounding a 2026 port to both PS5 & Switch 2 since the Switch console and third party partnerships are getting superrrr hyped rhis year.

i expect the new DLC whatever it may be titled will be sorta used in conjunction with the reveal of future consoles it will be coming to. ☝🏼 AND, i expect it will be announced or teased by the end of this year. they already have announced Indiana Jones is coming to Switch 2 next year, so i imagine it may be a ways off but theyll probably make a small nod to the eventual port like they did at gamescon

I have no particular speculation and completely fine with either theory, being a DLC or a major free update. Whatever it’s I just know it will be great.

I think “Terran Armada” is going to be another paid Creation Club mod. And I think a lot of people will lose their damn minds over it, in both directions. The smartest path forward, in my opinion, is for Bethesda to release new free features at the same time as they drop a big paid Creation. So we should get something like:

– Cruise mode and some other little goodies
– Additional features useful for mod authors
– A big honking paid mod using those features

That’s my expectation, anyway.

Yeah but the crucial part you’re missing is the “Terran Fleet” doesn’t exist. Earth/Terra is dead. There are no Terrans.
So I would imagine the DLC being a quest to discover a lost fleet of ancient earth ships, presumably including these carriers, and to me that screams “expansion” not “update”.

It probably is terran armada but it could also say something else. Ten man armada would also fit. I think tarren Armada is a lot better guess obviously. but I’m just saying, other stuff does fit there.

I’m 90% that it will be an official BGS creation rather than an expansion, because yeah ‘Terran Armada’ does sound VERY faction-y, and some people might not take too kindly to that messing with the usual balance like how people in the Fallout 4 community avoid Automatron like the plague and resent the fact that it can’t be uninstalled…

I don’t think they can get away with just a feature update together with a few small quests to tie that in at this point. And a DLC 2 “sometime next year” will not go over well and they know that. So here are my wild speculations:
First Option: you are right and “Terran Armada” is a pure feature update. Then we will get a shadow drop today (or next Tuesday maybe.. because Tuesdays right?) plus we get a substantial presentation today including the next DLC “Starborn” that will be released later this month (I have a specific date in mind, stay with me)
Second Option: “Terran Armada” is the next DLC because why not wrap those shiny new space features in a DLC sized story? Then we either get a complete shadow drop today or a presentation/announcement and a release later this month. As you said, Todd Howard wants short time windows between announcement and release and I really don’t think they would tease a new DLC in the Tim Lamb video after this much radio silence, when they don’t have it ready. They know very well that they need to deliver something substantial rather soon. And after teasing twice now, this is their best chance.
So what is my specific date for a release “later this month”? The 30th of September because that’s the first anniversary of “Shattered Space”. And wouldn’t you know it.. it’s a Tuesday. Let me know what you think of my wild speculations.

I have a different opinon to you. They will just add cruise mode in the free update but ill also have the DLC (Terran Armada) which ill heavily make use of it

If the next update doesn’t WILDLY overhaul… everything (seriously, I’m talkin Cyberpunk 2.0 on crack) Starfield will forever remain one Bethesda’s major failures. There is genuinely _nothing_ that Starfield does that comes close to the rest of the games on the market, let alone their own catalogue. I want to love Starfields universe so bad but its all so stupid that I want to strike it from the multiverse! And with No Mans Sky new update there is truly no reason to play Starfield.

Terran Armada sounds like a new faction with questline. And I think the speculations might be right with cruise mode or something space related. This one was one of the biggest points of critique, that space travel is bad and boring. I hope they spiced it up.

Another game was using the word Starborn – my guess is that Bethesda trademarked the term to protect any future marketing and the use of it in the current game.

Theory:
They scraped every corner of every starfield thread online to find the actual fans = we are the Terran Armada.
We all get the content for free, the haters and self-conflicted low-T alpha whiny bags with their britches packed with poop to the brim – they get nothing, they don’t even get access.

A new faction would be super cool. I haven’t played since shattered space came out. I’m eagerly waiting for the new expansion to drop before hopping back in, but I still have it installed along with dozens of mods I keep updating, just so I can hit the ground running when I get the urge. If the Expansion isn’t coming out until next year, I hope this Terran thing is a smaller sized DLC with a bunch of new mechanics/QOL features and new quests.

Being able to build your own M-class ship and park your regular ship in or on it for interstellar travel would be amazing. Like a mobile outpost or base with a landing pad.

I am confident it is part of the DLC or a lead into it. Would make sense to hit the strongest part ship building and weakest part ship exploration as a content focused update. So if they do a major revamp of space flight or a space flight faction game loop this would make sense. I hope they shadow drop it. I rather not know and just get to play it when it comes out.

Armada actually means “a fleet of warships”, not just fleet. Whereas “fleet” translates to “flota” in Spanish.

If it was not the Anniversary then I would say a release soon was a very good bet. Taking into account the Anniversary, I would say it could take more time. One thing I would like to point out is wild speculation is one of the things that actually hurt the Starfield release. People were disappointed when comparing the release to the speculation.

I can see a bunch of potential tie in possibilities. Some non FTL ships, similar to the ECS Constant who took considerably more time to get there. But the tie in to the Terran Preservation Society is another possible scenario that has nothing to do with FTL. Maybe somehow involving more info from Judith and/or Victor from NASA and the original Mars artifact.

I like the teaser and the mystery of it. It’s creating hype kinda like when No Mans Sky drops an emoji just before an update to inspire speculation. It’s nice to see excitement around Starfield again 🚀

It would make sense if it’s a content update teaser or something. I don’t think they would tease DLC without being near release. I would expect a big content update before DLC.
