I Ran a Starfield Poll And Got Surprising Results…
I was pretty surprised at how many people are still this interested in Starfield…

I have a PS5, and if it released day one on PS5, I would have bought it. But boy, I’m glad it didn’t. I played it on game pass for 12 hrs, and I couldn’t do it anymore. This was by far one of the most boring games I’ve ever played in my life.
Such an awful boring game. I wouldn’t waste my time with it if it was free.
I tried to play it 2x on pc game pass and just couldn’t get into it I don’t see the big fuss about it
I still playing it. Mod baby
The hate for Starfield is so overblown. I enjoy it.
The problem with this poll, it ignores those who already played the game on their prefered platform whether that be PC, Xbox, or both.
The 7% is just trolls.
its more fun to imagine what starfield could have been instead of playing the starfield that is
You have to consider that 70% of gamers are more casual and don’t engage with almost any gaming content online. They’d see a new game on the store, watch the trailer, and make up their mind on the spot.
That is not surprising at all.
I honestly don’t see the point in releasing it for the PS5 this late. The game seems more or less dead, little to no support from Bethesda.
Why would Playstation gamers buy it? I don’t understand it.
Im not goig to buy a Xmid game 😅
Its a bethesda fallout like game in space. What did most expect it to be??? A no man sky that gets updates due to it being DRM/Online or star citizen thats still being worked on. Haters need to get a grip that bethesda dont have talenetd devs anymore. Some like Adam Abramovich that was known for his awesome concept art have passed away and others have retired.
Expedition 33 exists for $50. That makes Starfield’s fair price no more than $20, and that’s pushing it.
Yeah I’ll admit I didn’t understand the hate early, I was actually enjoying combat and roaming around But I was also enjoying it under the illusion there was interesting encounters/things to find like all BGS titles hahah the upside was it made me appreciate FO4 so I poured 600 hours into that instead.
13% saying they would buy a 100 hour game plus 2 expansions that got 85% meta surprises you, are you okay in the head Luke? honestly
I paid for the premium edition day 1. Complete waste of money and time
I am saddened to see that there may be no more content for this game. I waited a full year before I got Starfield on a Steam sale due to mixed reviews. It is now one of my most favorite games. When covid hit in 2020, one of my favorite games was Animal Crossing New Horizons. I loved decorating except you were tied to real-time gameplay, had limited daily resources, and random recipes that I would have to wait days for (without Switch time travel). With Starfield, I can use console commands and “cheats” to give myself resources without the grind. I did not care for the main quest so I went off to make my own fun. I am a huge science fiction fan and love movies/books like the Arthur C. Clarke 2001 series. With Starfield I can go anywhere, do anything. Sometimes I want to blast some pirates out of space, sometimes I want to place a few magazines on a coffee table, or maybe I’ll place a lawnchair on the surface of the moon so i can chill and stare off into space. I love this game. 🪐🚀
I bought it on xbox, ive bought it on steam, and I will buy day 1 on Playstation when it comes
It’s a pretty good gameplay-loop. The mods helped me through hundreds of hours, but haven’t touched since September 2024. It’s simple too hollow
I mean…10% of 78 million (total PS5 unit sales) is A LOT…if you factor in a range of disinterest just from those people who wouldn’t play a single player space game even if you go egregious…that’s still ~1-2 million potential “full price” sales at 10%. That’s $70-140 MILLION more dollars for Bethesda/Microsoft just to port a Definitive Edition to Sony….yeah…totally worth it even at 10%. Factor in the other 20-30% that would buy it for $40…and you more than likely make well, well more profit than the porting costs cost you.
I would consider it on PC if it were priced better. Starfield was released on Sept 2023, almost two years ago, on Steam it is still $90 where I live for the base game. $40 for the Shattered Space DLC. Too much money for me.
Bethesda just should hire Kinggath let him m put together a team of experienced modders likely not Pikcysaurus since he has given up but others and let them be the official “support studio” for Bethesda as far as Starfield is concerned making dlc and expansion content for the game. Could Todd do that . I think he likely get Phil Spencers approval for that but he won’t Todd won’t as it would make Bethesda look bad.
I think the only way Todd can salvage the game is to do that. There will always be a small group of players who like or love it but they too will eventually get bored with it and the lack of official Bethesda content so that group will keep shrinking as time goes by until its down to a few hundred still playing and it wouldn’t be worth the trouble to try to make any official content.
Starfield would be am extremely low tier ps game compared to sonys already established exclusives.
I’m old enough to stick to my guns.
Once I’m not interested, it’s not only difficult to change my mind, it’s definitely not happening at full price 😂
If there was some kind of super Bethesda bundle where you get all their games for 10 bucks….maybe.
I actually enjoyed Starfield for what it was. It’s still a good game, it just lacks the exploration that we come to expect from Bethesda. And it lacked the identity of ES or Fallout as well. But the faction quests were fun and we get so few space rpg’s these days (although several are incoming) that as a linear narrative space romp, it scratched the itch. I played on Game Pass but I play primarily on PS5 so it would be a buy for me there. Would love to see some Pro enhancements as well. Although XBox hasn’t been charging full price for years old ports lately. So my guess is it would be less than 70.
Starfield is not a bad game. But it dose need a cyberpunk 2.0 moment!!!!!!! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 one can only hope and dream it will have its day !
I kinda missed a lot of gaming when I was younger. I know I’m going to play Skyrim someday, but not Starfield. If I can get it for 2 or 3 dollars then I’d probably buy it.
I’m on the “Wait for a sale” group. After watching all the videos I’ve watched about starfield, there is no way I’m buying it at full price. What are these people thinking? Lol
I just started a new playthrough of Starfield because I was bored. I put in some mods that have made the game a bit better. The one that is the most fun is a paid mod called Apex- Terrormorph Overhaul. It makes the Terrormorphs into what the game claims they are. The game has some issues that modders can’t do anything about like the writing, shitty “romances” that aren’t romances(literally NOBODY in Starfield touches anyone else…for any reason). Gunplay and ship combat are still the stars but some of the best mods are paid. None of them are outrageously priced but it does add up.
For a lot of people, the practical difference between $40 & $70 is immaterial.
Some check prices and weigh things up, while others buy what they want and don’t don’t regard the price at all.
There were things I didn’t mind about starfield and I did all the NG+ stuff. 135 hours overall. But nothing short of a far harbor level update could get me to reinstall it on my pc. I got the first DLC for free and didn’t even try it after seeing the reviews.
Right now I would say no. But my thinking of possibly is if since it’s been time they could have fixed a lot of issues that they had that should have been from extra time on it. Think of no man’s sky when it launched to over time how it’s been worked on
How many of those people don’t even have a PS5?
I’m so lucky I was never a Bethesda fan. There was anyway no shot I buy it full price and after all I’m not even sure if it’s worth the money when it’s on sale. I already think the praised Bethesda games are not that good, what will I think about Starfield then? xD
I wouldn’t play a Bethesda game if it was free. Or if they paid me.
People are going to buy it and keep it a secret.
I installed starvival mod my grav drive broke down and now I dont have any way to leave the system , it is a completely different game now with this mod it’s incredibly fun.
People say they won’t buy, but they do.
Switch 2 is proof of that
PS4&5 pony, voted no. They can keep their broken mess with paid mods. Wouldn’t buy it for $25
I’ve put 400 hours into Starfield because certain aspects — the aesthetic, setting ship and outpost building — just resonated with me. Even combat is reasonably fun. What ultimately lets the game down are a crap main story, weak side missions, no synergy across mechanics and an over-reliance on proc gen. Everything there is to see on a planet can be seen within 100m of your ship. There are some nice vistas, but they all scream early 2000s landscape generators. Supposedly thriving urban centers feel like theme parks at best and at worst the last vestiges of humanity. The Starborn are lame and the multiverse plot completely undermines the entire game. Who cares about anyone’s squabbles if you’re eventually going to hop into another universe?
I think the most frustrating thing is that Starfield is so close to being great. There are a ton of interesting ideas in there that just needed a bit more time to cook. It would have been nice to see time and energy spent on improving the game, but I also knew we were never going to see CDPR levels of commitment. Of course, mods are always an option but I don’t think that’s a legitimate reason for releasing a half-baked game.
Despite my complaints, I think Starfield’s worth picking up on discount. I picked it up 40% off and definitely got my money’s worth.
It’s going to be funny to see the Starfield fanboys who said “You Sony ponies are just bashing it because you can’t play. Once it comes to Playstation you’ll be singing its praises!” getting the reality check when the Playstation version is reviewed just as poorly. Sure the Playstation players will have the buggy (the car, not the game bugs) and city maps from launch, but those don’t fix the game.
I played it for free and feel like I’m owed $70.
I loved it, great game, but of course not perfect at all, and I understand almost ALL the criticism it gets. I’ve been watching all th things that Luke has to say about it and it is very fair, Still loved it and its my 2023 ? GotY. I’ve played it almost 300 hours because there’s a lot to discover and has a lot of hidden gems in the writting, of course there’s a lot of garbage there too… xd
Money no issues
Also it doesn’t matter 2 horse flys whether it’s Xbox or PlayStation it’s just games…
I played it on release day on gamepass and was quite excited first, but after around 3h I was already so bored and left.
Never came back since then.
For 10-15€ sale I would get it but not more.
What a surprise that a community filled with starfield haters voted that way
It doesn’t look appealing to me. Even when I love space punk aesthetic. But Arc Raiders!! Yes please!!!
Starfield is fundamentally a boring game. The game design doesn’t allow for a free flowing RPG and the biggest problem is actually Space and the ships.
If you think about it: Space is the biggest detriment to Starfield. You don’t DO anything out in space other than fight other space ships and travel between systems. It’s not a seamless system of travel either as you have to pass through multiple loading screens before you can land on another planet. The ships are nothing but a mobile player home that can customize to your hearts content, but you can’t do anything with it other than fly it in space and admire it while it’s on the ground.
Quest design is the same as every other Bethesda game, you go to a place, collect a thing or defeat X enemies, then fly back to complete the quest with multiple loading screens in between or boring fast traveling. You’d figure in the future when the people in the game had discovered faster than light travel, they would figure out data transmission as well. Or even just implement a space phone so you don’t have to fly back to the quest giver to give them coordinate data or said you did the thing. It’s unnecessary steps because they refuse to use anything but their aging and broken engine that can’t handle a game like this in the way they want.
And that’s not to mention that the scale of the maps on the planets are downright BORING. Every point of interest like the capital cities for the respective factions are smack dab in the middle of the map, around a sea of “procedural generated” slop. Meaning that all they did was create a random map, slap some handmade structures on it and called it a day. You don’t go to planet for anything other than the city with the merchants to sell your loot. You don’t explore the outskirts of the city because there’s nothing out there but randomly generated monsters and structures with the same patterns of enemies, set dressing and “puzzles.”
The Starborn powers are absolutely boring because the developers have no creative thoughts in their head. Oh boy, I can’t wait to unlock the power that makes this moon’s gravity the same gravity as earth’s for 20 seconds or the power that makes the plants around me in a 10 meter radius regrow so I can pick them again. Even the one that’s supposed to be the “Fus Ro Dah” of the game that pushes people back, only staggers them in place for 1 second before they get back up and start attacking you again. The damaging powers are fixed intervals instead of scaling percentages so they eventually become more worthless than just using any weapon you have on hand.
AND for a personal thing. The gore has been absolutely gutted. Nothing explodes like in fallout 4, and the funny ragdolls of Skyrim are just boring and don’t do anything funny unless they clip into a piece of terrain or an object and start flailing around because of the game’s physics.
Starfield is a Boring game, and them charging 70$ and then demanding we pay more for paid mods to make the game worth even replaying is pitiful.
Every now and then I get the itch to play Starfield and when I do I have a great time. It’s not a generational game like some people were expecting but I don’t regret any hours I’ve put into it. I do believe some of the hate can be warranted for some people but I also think some of the hate is just to hate on the game cause that’s what we do as a society these days. It’s unfortunate. I know it’s a mod but I strongly recommend Watchtower, it is an awesome DLC/mod. Much love Luke!
I might buy it for $5
i didn’t see the poll so I’ll answer here with a No.
Starfield is ass. I don’t know why you even brought it up, other than for engagement.
I don’t think Starfield is as bad as people want it to be. I also don’t think it is worth full price.
How are these results surprising?
Nothing could fix Bad Writing.
Minimal plot is better than badly written plot.
The 13% have already bought it on console so i would subtract at least 5%
Not like you gotta prove you own a ps5
starfield is deeply flawed in some aspects but others are solid. I can’t say I didn’t have fun on my first play through, main issue was load screens but all in all I had fun, especially after mods were added.
I wouldn’t pay full price but playing on game pass was basically free so I was fine with it. Games come and go, some are great others not so, just move into the next one.
I think there should have been option for “No (I have it on pc/xbox)” because I answered no because of that reason and others might have too.
I got it for $30 on Amazon. Should have waited until it’s $20.
I have always been a PlayStation user, I bought an Xbox just to play Starfield.
My disappointment is procedural generated in my mind.
ES6 is going to suck, prove me wrong.
I can’t deal with all the load screens. Played Oblivion Remaster and Tainited Grail and it really cuts into the experience and immersion every time it triggers a load screen. So glad most games are beyond it
Starfield is a bad game… When the game launched, i had a laptop 3070 and the performance was bad so I was like “I will come back when i get my 4080… Well i then got the 4080s and… was not even interested in playing starfield because it is just a bad game
Starfield was the last game i will ever pre-order, it was the straw for me. I went into it knowing that its failure would be the beginning of the end for xbox as a system, so naturally i thought, surely they wont f*ck it up because they cant f*ck it up…..well, they f*cked it up.
This poll is very flawed because it does not include a “No, because I don’t have a PS5” option nor a “No, because I already have it on a different platform” option
1:08 “even then, 7% is kind of high” 7% of 14,000 comes out to 980. SO OUT OF 14,000 votes 980 is a lot. Developers are jumping at that chance to sell a game to 980. What a dream. I think the only one that is kind of high is Luke here. 😂
I won’t pay full price for any of Microsofts game. The quality just isn’t there. Especially at $80! Are you kidding me?
Maybe if it does have mod support
Cause i really want to try Kinggath’s mod which i hear basically leads you to making your own fleat of ships, ideally so i can make a smugglering ring
The “No” numbers are likely inflated because people who don’t own a ps5 or care about Starfield will chime in regardless.
Hi my name is Fred, and I was a starfield hype-victim. I really dig the visuals and expected it to be no man’s sky with good Bethesda writing. Thankfully I’ve played it on game pass, so I could decide if I would buy it on steam,, and yeah it saved me some money. I’m now almost two years free of it.
i play it on game pass out of curiosity and i still want my time back.
for me.. it would need 3 more big cities. 2 big space stations.. random or set settlements on planets. Town/settlement raids. from raiders or aliens. Random encounters as cool as other games they’ve had. more and cooler space battles.
RN you couldnt pay 90% of people to play it…
Theres no chance that this game is better than Clair Obscur and that only cost me $50. Why would I pay $20 more for a worse game? And a worse game by a very large margin.
I feel like a large portion of that 17% “waiting for a sale” won’t actually buy it even if it goes on sale. And much of the remainder would buy it, and just let it collect dust in their catalogue.
PS5 gamers will for sure purchase the game. BUT likely not full price.
i did buy the collectors edition just for the watch really
Remember when Luke & subscribers tried predicting Nightreign’s playet count?
Yeah.
Most people don’t follow the Internet drama.
(I am not interested in Starfield whatsoever, nor do I own a PS5, but still. The point stands.)
Hi, I’m Brian, and I’m not a Starfield addict.
But it’s not even 1,000 ppl per poll thatbwould pay full price. It’s not that many people if you really think about it.
I burned out after 90 hours and never completed the game. Maybe one day
I definitely would buy..on sale
On a deeeep sale, maybe… maybe not. However I’m a Gran Turismo fan but bought Forza Horizon and it’s awesome.
Buy it? Sure…but definitely not a must buy. More of a backlog game
Its not Fallout.
Spoilers, so click on if you’ve beaten the MSQ at least once.
I really thought going through The Unity would ACTUALLY put you in a randomly generated universe. I could SWEAR that the MSQ was telling you, the player, that you should be expecting it. So imagine my disappointment when EVERYTHING is EXACTLY the same, minus one or two “cutscenes” you can get. Everything is in the same location. People are where you expect them to be. Weapons are where you expect them to be. EVERYTHING.
And THIS was the biggest disappointment of Starfield for me. What is the point of going through The Unity, if it’s not ACTUALLY a portal to an entirely different universe?
Bethesda said that they’re still going to be working on the game for another 8 years, right? I’m hoping they’re working on making The Unity actually mean something, instead of just adding things to the CREATION store.
Missed the poll, but HELL NO I would not buy Starfield on PS5
As an idiot that spent roughly 250-300 hours waiting for the game to get fun or interesting at all, I am BEGGING people who haven’t played Starfield to buy literally any other game.
I mean, there are people who bought MindsEye and The Day Before, so it’s really not that shocking lol
X is full of console warriors. Xbox fans probably trying to make the game look better by voting for it lol
Yeah nah we don’t want it..
I played it through the credits on my Steamdeck(with mods to make it run good) and as a game it was trash
People need to realise that 90% of gamers dont go online and watch debates and reviews about a game. They see a Bethesda space game, they buy
The problem I have with the game is it is boring, the worlds are empty it doesn’t have anything that appeals to me the story isn’t good there is no investment in a pre-existing world that could even possibly get me interested….. It’s just a non-factor.
I swore off Bethesda a long time ago..
i clickt on wait for sale but a wanted too say no 😅
Man I’m still pissed I paid full price for this shit game on PC, not getting those 20 hours back 😤, no way am I buying it again.
I will get it when it’s about $40. I can’t justify getting any games at full price any more. I’m excited for the outer worlds too but again it will need to be on sale.
One thing to keep in mind: Starfield + 1 expansion was $100, so Starfield + 2 expansions at $70 is already discounted.
They got the $100 out of me man, I’m still pissed that marketing worked on me
Well, now you know who bought the switch 2
I thought I’d wait for a couple of YEARS, when the modders have done THEIR magic on the game but I’ll NEVER buy Slopfield. Bethesda just DOESN’T deserve it. I don’t know if Bethesda will EVER get another nickel from me EVER again. We’ll see. As it stands now, NOT looking good Bethesda, NOT at ALL.
Can you STFU about Starfield. We get it, you and your followers hate this game. Now move on. It’s not a game for kids with short attention span. We adults enjoy it.
Wow, now that’s a captive audience. 🤣
I might not even download it if even if it came to PS+
I love BGS games, but Starfield never appealed to me in the beginning. And even if I have a decent time with it, I’m not gonna use up my limited free time on a game that’s just “decent”
It is not really a shock, this little percentage is likely peopple that only have PS5 and no PC, or have a PS5 and dont like to play on PC. The rest played on PC like me. I like it the game, maybe because it was my first bethesda game.
My dislike of starfield goes beyond it being just a bad game. They lied to the players, tried to tell people they were playing the game wrong, pronouns, bodies not marked as male and female, bethesdas greedy anti-consumer practices. just to name a few things why I would not want to buy the game
As someone who is console agnostic, and also games on PC, I can tell you that my opinion on Starfield does not come from the console warrior mentality. I paid the $100 for Starfield and the early access trap. Personally, I feel that I wasted 100% of my money. That game was Bethesda slop and I feel sad that almost a quarter of PlayStation players want to burn their money.
Me personally, I’m waiting for a really strong sale to get Starfield on Starm exclusively for the Star Wars overhaul mod.
You couldnt pay me to play starfield, i cant get that time back.
Luke poll on youtbue was so popular that 101% of people voted on it
I wish I didnt pre-order that game for full price I should have never bought it or wait till it went on sale for like 20 bucks 5 years down the line
4:16 honestly, I don’t think mediocre even flies anymore. Why would I ever play mediocre when so many bangers come out each year that are as long?
Think about it, this year we’ve already had so many bangers. KCD2, Claire obscure, Monster hunter wilds and so many others that already came out. Let alone the games we all know will be good coming out later like Death stranding 2.
These games are so long too that playing all of them (with a full time job and family) will likely take a year anyway. Which in the mean time other bangers come out to put into your backlog.
Mediocre isn’t mediocre anymore. It’s just bad when compared to the bangers.
I won’t get it on the ps5pro
You couldn’t pay me to play that slop game.
As a PS5 user, it does not matter if it’s an Xbox game or Sony game, what matters is that it’s a bad/mediocre game. Why would I spend $70 on Starfield when I can get way better games for that price range or even lower price(like Expedition 33, Oblivion Remaster etc) for $50. In fact I did buy Oblivion on the PS5 so that proves it’s not about PS users being anti-Xbox but the game just has to be good. I will buy Gears of War too and I know Xbox users will buy FF7 Remake on Xbox.
Shattered Space was so bad a lot of people who bought the deluxe edition of Starfield didnt even return to play it, even though they owned the expansion.
Most people are expecting the second expansion to be as lazy as the first, so not surprised people dont want to pay $70 for a game that feels like it released ages ago.
I will extend my “no” sentiment a bit further beyond Starfield.
I think with Starfield and the launch of 76, Elder Scrolls VI is not going to be good. Unless Bethesda REALLY turns things around, I think it’s going to be bad.
I would buy it at a low price. Looks like old Bethesda with a heaping helping of meh.
Holy crap im early.
