Drizzza got an idea you might want to test putting farm plots in shallow fresh water to grow corn which is also sold for scrap plus then you can use the plant fibre for fertiliser and 2x corn per fish trap (you need 50+ calories to get trout)

there is nothing to fix, if this was op coastlines would be swarmed with fish farms, yet almost none is doing this, there is nothing wrong with the game hawing more than one dimension to it besides same old pvp. and ur not getting payed 5scrap for fish u almost must take into account tthe tiem invested to get to thta fish to sell.

So Rustlabs nerfed horse dung. “Horses now produce a lot less dung, a lot less frequently. They also now convert calories to dung so they will require feeding over a period of time before they will produce the goods.” So as you can still do this. It will just take A LOT more time

That’s the stupidest thing I’ve ever seen about scrap.
5 min of hitting barrels equals to 100~ 150 scrap. It’s easier, cheaper and faster that way. Why the fuck would I waste my time in the wipe looking for horses, giving them food and building a base to protect them?. That’s dumb. Barrels and monuments are there for a reason, man up, get ur bow and farm scrap like a real man. Peace.

I just started playing rust today – We’ve been using potatoes for this and get tons of minnows. Does bait type matter/is there a way to exclude minnows.
The guys I play with say the traps wont catch additional fish and need to be emptied pretty much after every catch. Is this true?

I have 20 farms and 24hs later it hardly made 1 an hour.

I found out that you could make about 3100 scrap per hour if you buy pickles with this method at bandit camp or outpost because 6 pickles = 1 scrap and 1 trout = 5 scrap and since pickles are the most caloric and cheap food you can infinetly buy pickles and still make about 3000 scrap profit per hour. You guys will thank me later.

you forgot a bit, well you glossed over it. This is a silly amount of food output and the Fuel output is also bonkers. refrigerators full of food, minicopters flying in the sky. and on top of that you can pull incredible amounts of scrap. Fish Trap status? Broken AF…never thought I would say that.

I did this for lols and ended up with 7k scrap on wipe day….

After testing on a vanilla official server – 20 fish traps yielded ~50 fish per hour or 250 scrap per hour and consumed 51 pieces of food. This is 88% less than the video implies. There will be some variation based on RNG, but nonetheless, I’m confident saying that the video is absolutely incorrect by a large margin.

Only issue with fish is the traps take damage as they catch

Solo duo I build a base near river and put horses in there. River food spawns takes care of roughly 20 horses easy.

I don’t even think it’s broken and should not be patched there are so many items now to research, and not everybody’s a pvp, so it’s good for all around players, nothing needs fixing in my opinion, maybe just up the price of guns at bandit and should be fine

fastest way is to farm launch puzzle, 1.2 k scrap everytime u loot and recycle

Thanks Drizza. Have one set up right now. Getting more minnows then trout so far but will see how it goes. Throwing the minnows in the composter. Testing various foods et. I wonder if certain servers can take the exchange out of bandit camp?

Heres what i found – farming pays but is boring AF. After doing it non stop for 2 weeks i can honestly say theres a trade off for getting ahead scrapwise vs pvping and raiding fun😊

Is minnows useless right now, because I can’t use them to trap small trout

The trout per hour is variable. Youve sited the best case scenario. You need to site the avg. Trout farming is best done at the start of a 3+ hour session. Composters are a waste of time. Use corn bc the yield 5-6 per plant, discard minnows from traps, pile up trout. Run those trout and any red cards to bandit at night or via mini. Profit…

I spent the day setting up one of these with the fish, didn’t work out well. I think I got 2.5k scrap over the last 6-8 hours of it running onstop.

Minnows are just too common and it required me invest an absurd amount into potato farming above it. It was fun to do, but 2k scrap an hour with 20 traps is in no way accurate and it requires a fair amount of babysitting. Really only useful if you are logged in and available for like 5 minutes each other to harvest and repair the traps.

Tbh fish traps are and have always been great but no one ever uses them.

I might be one of the few that has anyways used them, I cook the trout, bait more traps and then use the fat for low grade, that’s how I’ve always done it.

Then trade low grade for scrap keep the cooked trout for traps and one for me for food

Personally diving is the best way to get scrap. Hitting barrels on the coast and going to diving sites can generate so much scrap and components. Finding the diving equipment is a the only hard part but once you have full diving equipment which can be found by looting crates then going on diving runs can net you a lot of profit. I would go on diving runs on a vanilla server for 20-30 minutes and would gain maybe 500 scrap after recycling components I don’t need. The added benefit of this is that nobody goes diving meaning you are eliminating the chances of losing all of it to PVP.
