You totally underplayed A relic Reborn it was way way worse than how you described.
23:30 The Manderville Weapon materials were purchased with Allagan Tomestones of Causality, on release, which were the highest level tomestones available, at the time. This meant that players could only acquire a set amount of these Tomestones each week, resulting in some players (me) having to make the frustrating choice of upgrading their Relic instead of other, more relevant gear. You see, Relic Weapons were very rarely the “Ultimate Weapon” in Final Fantasy XIV – Manderville Weapons were, in fact, one of the lowest level rewards available with Tomestones of Causality until they were replaced with Allagan Tomestones of Comedy in patch 6.4, causing the Causality Tomestones’ weekly restriction to be lifted. At the release of 7.0, Dawntrail, all previous Tomestone rewards became purchasable with Allagan Tomestones of Poetics, and both Tomestones of Causality and Comedy could no longer be acquired.
16 had arena content that you had to beat in order to get the true final weapon.

Having played FFXI and XIV for several years each, I find the entire progression of FFXI to be superior than XIV’s, they were long, and often a pain in the linkshell’s ass, but it felt so damn good to complete one during their initial runs.

Maybe do a Magic evolution one, like the names of the magic spell, the magic spell itself how powerfull it is or useless, how many magic spells there are in each game etc etc.
Topic idea: which ultimate weapons are worthless because of requirements, character they belong to, and when in the game you get them.
Grinding for Ultimate Weapons for each character in FF13 and upgrading every weapon in that game for trophies is truly it’s very own circle of hell
Uh, the Lionheart is far from being Lightning’s best weapon. Outside of its secondary effect who’s useful in some cases (most notably for farming Sacrifices in chapter 13), the weapon itself is really bad stats wise.
Her best weapon is actually the Organyx, thanks to a glitch discovered last year where Weapons with Leadenstrike and Ironstrike ability (such as the Organyx) sees their Leadenstrike and Ironstrike negative abilities canceled if the character has ATB Rate skills unlocked on them.

Since Stormblood Ultimate raids have released periodically & reward the best weapons you can get at the time.

The new ultimate weapons are a joke now a days. I so used to do a lot of work to get a supper strong weapon now it’s just crafted and boring as hell
I’m curious how Final Fantasy XVII will handle Ultimate Weapons.
I really wonder how FF7 Remake part 3 will handle Ultimate Weapons since both part 1 and 2 tried to make every weapon viable to the end without making them gradually flat out better than the previous one.
It’s a shame the “new” FF7 games don’t have quest to find Ultimate weapons for each character 🙁
I think it’s a bit of a miss to call the End Walker relics a “good time” the tomes only made the game feel baren for mid and casual players, I think they were banking on another exploratory zone like Eureka or Bozja, but it got cut for costs, so they went with tomes. They have sortta recovered with DT, but the tomes step is really holding that One currency hostage… I’d really like More ways to earn the items on top of tomes to really make it attainable to do multiples in a patch and craft. The crafting in cosmic was a lot more on the money for grind and repeatability imo…

23:00 The manderville weapons were straightforward to get, only needing tomestones, but you could only start the quest for the weapons after completing the long multi-expansion Hildibrand side quests to a certain point into Endwalker. Then you continued that side quest to allow you to get further upgrades.
Someday I’ll play catch-up on all the Relic weapons in 14
I’m honestly a fan of XIII’s ultimate weapon system. I’m just a fan of Square avoiding hostile game design that has me spend hours dodging lightning, etc. or some other punishing irrelevant task to access it.

It’s so unfortunate that in Lightning Returns, you reforge Crimson Blitz as the Ultimate Weapon but you can only use it against the final boss. And to add insult to injury, while the game has a NG+ and everything carries over, the weapon itself is the only thing that doesn’t.
