From everything I’ve seen in DMC and FF16, Clive is winning so far. Especially when Clive has taken every single Eikon from everyone, including the final boss’s ability which is literally a combination of all other Eikon’s together and then even more ontop of that. Dante is pretty damn strong especially in his Sin Devil Trigger state but I don’t see any of that getting to Clive’s level of power. Dante can gain a bunch of new weapons and abilities from his opponents just as much as Clive does but i seriously don’t think that Dante is winning this fight.

I’ve actually played to FF16 and Clive would be a threat in his Eikon form, where he transforms into the incredibly powerful Ifrit. That said, given that Dante has fought demons like Berial, the Savior or Mundus, size does not matter that much. I may be biased, but I give the win to Dante 🙂

I’m calling bs on Dante moving at lightspeed and being able to blow up the planet. Screw the extended lore crap, his feats in the games never even come close to that, it’s just a story-breaking power wank by some one-off bad writers who are trying to cheaply hype people up.

Yes he can move incredibly quickly, yes he can heal incredibly fast. But he never uses superspeed for an extended period, he cannot regenerate indefinitely, and he went all out on Urizen without the planet taking any real punishment at all. When we hype up his powers to such ridiculous levels that they would break the stories he’s in we only serve to strip the character of all his substance.

By channeling the EIkons, Garuda and Titan, Clive can create massive tornados and pound the ground so hard to make gigantic masses of jagged rock to erupt from the ground. Channeling Bahamut, gives Clive increased maneuverability and flight as well as a beam attack that that burns hotter than fire (look it up Megaflare is light based not fire based, so it’s super heated plasma). Shiva and Leviathan allows Clive to flood the area with tidal waves on the scale of the ones that almost wrecked the far east a couple of yearrs ago and then freeze everything in the area in an instant. Ultima’s powers are literally what they say on the box, So yeah, Dante’s still got this, but I can totally see Dante losing his smile at the end, cause unlike when he fought the pompous and arrogant Bayonetta, he’d get no satisfaction from beating a man who has been as much Hell as he has. Although’s be honest, Joshua and Jill beating the crap out of Trish and Lady in an episode of DBX, just like Jeanne did a couple years ago would be fire.

Both Dante and Clive are walking cheat codes. Dante’s basically immortal with god-slaying feats, reality cutting swords, and Sin Devil Trigger that turns him into pure destruction. Meanwhile, Clive literally becomes every Eikon and absorbs Ultima, creation itself. Dante’s got the skill, speed, and experience edge but Clive’s got the raw, reality-bending power and elemental versatility. At that point, it’s less about who’s stronger and more about whose “world’s logic” wins first. Either way, they’d both be standing in a crater the size of a continent, smirking and saying, “You’re not bad.”

I mean am a dmc fan but if you play like any of the final fantasy’s you become so broken at the end of the game

From what I know, Dante is low multiversal with immeasurable speed. This is due to him fighting beings who transcend space and time and Hell consisting of multiple realms that are infinite in size.

However, I have noticed that Death Battle don’t go with cosmic scaling a lot (when it comes to gaming characters) so if they don’t do that then Dante might lose. Which would be a damn shame, I hate when characters lose just because they didn’t do their damn research.

While there are all kinds of comparisons to their strengths and abilities I think it comes down to the fact that I don’t think Clive would be able to land a killing blow to Dante thanks to his insane healing factor. While one good strike to Clive’s head or heart would end the fight because like people have said Clive is incredibly powerful but is still just a mortal man at the end of the day.

Ok I’ll go ahead and put my 2 cents in this. My knowledge on DMC is decently layered and so is my FF experience, including 0-%100 ing FF7,8,10,13,13-2, Strangers and a few more, as well as, while I haven’t beaten 16 yet (I’ve had some shit to deal with, IRL then polygons) This will be a close fight either way. On the one hand, no matter the version of Dante (Except 2, no one counts 2), he’s a force to be reckoned with, especially with SDT in 5, and his absolute mastery of the main 4 styles he uses.

However on the other hand, Clive is from Final Fantasy’s universe. That universe is known for having some wild as fuck scaling, from Rahma (A god of thunder) able to teleport as fast as lightning, to Bahamut (for the record it’s usually pronounced as “Ba-ha-mut”) outright smoking a continent with a Megaflare (Basically a fuck off beam blast of pure concentrated magic) 16 has Clive earn the powers of these summons for him to weld the power of all of them at his demand and his SDT equivalent would be him transforming into his Eikon form, Ifrit, the second Eikon of Fire. Basically a Hyper aggressive beast that uses the fires of hell to beat some serious ass. And I mean that as in he Beats down Garuda, the Eikon of Wrathful Storms with no issues when Ifrit was let loose to do as it saw fit, where as conversely when he gained control, he ran hands with the likes of Eikons like Titan, a Mountain sized giant made of stone that was doing its damnedest to kill his ass and Ifrit did not give more than a singular fuck about that as he killed him too. As well as Clive gaining the powers of Odin (Basically Vergil as a summon), meaning he has his own Yamato equivalent with the Zentetsukin, including doing its self named attack that OHKO’s most common enemies in the series and sometimes bosses (Thanks FF8), as well as Leviathan, the Wyrm God of the seas, Bahamut, the god of dragons, and so on.

Whether you’re a FF fan or not, you have to admit, this could be a closer fight than you’d think.

Some things to consider since I’ve played both games (spoilers will be involved so be advised when clicking)

Clive using the Ultima’s moveset is non canon (I didn’t expect you to know that from looking at the gameplay, just thought I’d clarify), while pushing back a planet busting attack is insane, it requires a specific form that he cannot attain on his own normally, and his greatest feat without ascended form while still being Ifrit will likely depend on the Titan Lost fight, which does have some insane stuff and could possibly net Clive a lot of good will in the strength category, but it is very dependent on where Death Battle scales those feats. To Clive’s favor however, in his base form, he has fought a lot of enemies with similar skills to ones found in DMC, such as his fight against the time guardian in Rising Tide who can literally freeze time, and fighting a full power Odin, in which one of his sword swings parted the ocean for an incredibly long distance, and has a moveset comparable to Vergil. One other thing in Clive’s favor is Zantetsuken, that same sword that parted the sea is in Clive’s arsenal, and if he can charge it, it unleashes Zantetsuken, which is an ability in the series iconic for one shotting most enemies. What really will decide the likelihood of this fight is at what point they allow Clive to be at, if it’s pre-final boss Clive, I’d say he might be able to squeeze out a win but Dante has a higher chance of winning, it it’s the version of Clive we encounter in the final boss, it’ll likely be pretty balanced.

As much as I like Final Fantasy XVI, Dante would OBLITERATE Clive with no concept of Diff. Clive is still very much mortal while Dante is half Devil.
