Ranking Ff13 before FF8 , girl bye. FF16 didn’t feel like FF game at all maybe that is why it sold worse compared to the other releases.

I still play FFX on my PS2 every two or three years or so. I played pretty much all FF but this one hits most. Emotional connecting with characters here is next level.

ff3 or in the releases ff6 with terra was number 2 I still got my snes with the save data I would destroy anyone’s party with 1 character. probably played ff6 20k hours. but ff7 is the best hands down. the New number 1 game is cyberpunk. 2077

I agree with the #1 pick. But, I can’t say I agree with having X in second spot. As compelling and emotional as its story may have been, the gameplay is… well… disappointing. It’s a corridor simulator, for all intents and purposes. OK, not to the extreme extent that FF13 took it but, still… there’s barely any variation to the path you can take. There is barely any exploration until you’re basically at the end.
I think top #5 for me would be:
1 — FF6
2 — FF8
3 — FF7
4 — FFX
5 — FF12:ZA (specifically Zodiac Age, the original US/EU release was… problematic)

Final Fantasy XV ending made me cry

When I was younger I played Tactics, VII, VIII, IX, X, II, III, IV, V and VI (when they came out on the PS1) and 7, 8 and 9 were the best. I’m biased against the NES and SNES era games, because they’re just so “limited” compared to the later games. 7 had the best story, 8 had the best music, and 9 had the best gameplay. Tactics was much more slow and felt like a game of checkers over and over again. The ps2 era games lost some of the magic when Nobuo Uematsu wasn’t the sole composer anymore.

Anyway, if I had to REPLAY any of the games today, I would choose: Final Fantasy VIII. I just have an incredible soft spot for it, and there are things I would like to do differently this time around compared to when I was a kid and didn’t understand the Junction system very well.

FF 8 and 10 is my favorite. 7 is ok, 9 is bad, 11 sucks. i stopped following the series after the sucker….

I’ve played and bought all of them except 11 and after 12. So 1-10 + X2 and 12. I enjoyed them all until they did away with turn based party play.
My top 4. XII , X, VII, VIII. FFX gets docked for The sadistic Chocobo races and the monotonous lighting dodging.

How is Final Fantasy XI online ranked dead last? I played it since launch for over a decade. I’ve had more fun on that MMORPG than any before or since then. The community of friends made on there was like family. FFXIV doesn’t even come close to the magical feel FFXI had.

VII and X are my absolute gold standards for story telling. God I love those two <3

I’ve seen Final Fantasy games ranked a lot over the years, and my take away is that it is generally agreed that Final Fantasy 6, 7, and 9 are the very best in the series, with perhaps 10 also on par, or maybe ever so slightly behind.

I think 13 is one of the worst. The battles are absolutely boring, pretty much all of them. Snow is almost always useless, and apart from that, you basically only play with Fang and Hope. The bosses are not only boring, but they are repeated far too often. The ending is lame, the characters are okay, but the potential was wasted. I tried so many times to play through the game, but there are too many obstacles in your way. It’s almost always the same, the Espers are absolutely useless, the grinding is almost useless, and in the end, you’re fed up with the game anyway and just want to get it over with. Well, I know the ending, but I never wanted to play it myself because it was impossible for me to like this game. The music wasn’t bad, and the graphics were pretty cool when it was released.

ffx was my favorite. So many great themes and the ending is sooo good and emotional

I never played a JRPG growing up, so I’ve had to enjoy them through let’s plays. I’m in the middle of watching FFX right now, and I’d say in terms of plot and pacing my favorite is FFVI. It makes me very happy that FFVI ended up being your #1 FF game.

Love it that you made FF3 (US) number 1. It is truly the best RPG ever made. The story, the characters, the villains, the music, the pacing, the visual effects. For $69.99, it was truly worth every penny that still pays itself. I wish they would remake this but as a movie trilogy or quadrilogy and not as a game. It can top the Lord of the Rings trilogy if this story was made as a movie.

My entry in the series was XV. I played it some years ago and loved it. Now, by emulating a ps2, i asked GPT games about religion, and it suggested FFX. And thank God it did it, because this one is a hell of a masterpiece, and I simply can’t fight Seymour after Sin’s Battle, because I am afraid the journey ends. Damn, what a story…

6 is the 1 for me while I hated 12 at first because I felt like it was trying to be an mmorpg which was dominating the gaming scene back then but a few years later I gave it a try and realized I made a wrong judgement, the game is extremely fun.

Bought the pixel remaster recently so I’ll have a minus a couple.

I struggle to rank final fantasy because I feel some shine with story, some with battle mechanics, and others with the character progression. As example FF12 when came out I didn’t like but playing the zodiac remake and learning more about the boards and how the jobs could pair made me love the game. While I’ve not thought through extensively, my instinct is it’s my favorite game to play progression wise (e.g. leveling characters with unique job combos and grinding the battle arena to farm gear).

That said I’ve played through 3 or 4 times and couldn’t tell you two sentences about the story or what it was about so despite being one of my favorite to play it’s nowhere near top of list when I think of best games cause not balanced with good story.

Final fantaxy x2 is the only game that i played !! So underated

7 will always be No.1 for me. 10 right behind it.

Everyone hated them but i fell in lpve and played every title since (after 13) but ive known about ff and played at a friends house back in the old school ones but couldnt name which one. 13 might have been the big change but it set me on the road for the rest. I also loved 15 so much, 16 was a dissapointment. Still finished but it was just bleak and felt like a mature different game which im cool with but it had the good moments that made it feel ff but they were few and far

I’ve played FF9 in 2002 or so and really enjoyed the game. In fact, it soaked me up: I would play through the night and fall asleep in school. It was AMAZING! I never touched another FF game since I thought nothing could come close and I am glad that this video confirms this. (Almost, ranking 2nd best – but this channel isn’t necessarily the ultimate yard stick.)

11 being ranked 15 is pretty rough. i could understand having a bad experience during cop, but it is still a much better game than a lot of the series.

And for a game with probably the worst itemization in any final fantasy title (including mystic quest) and the most monotonous combat, 16 is way too high in this list.

Final Fantasy 8 is legendary, one of the best for sure.

FF16 is my favorite I do prefer ARPGs I would like to see a fantasy driven game over this bleak darker world in 16.

Ff16 was the most final fantasy game I’ve ever played but at the same time it felt like the furthest thing from final fantasy. In my 80 hr playthru I regret nothing. It was incredible!

As much as I’d love a ff6 3D remake Kitase said it would be a monumental task that would take double the time of ff7 remake, meaning atleast 20 years ☠️

IX is my personal favorite followed by Tactics (PS1) then VII (PS1).

Favorite FFX, love the story, least favorite FFXIII with the epic stupid story and charaters so dull that i cheered when they died in the end. got stuck in FFIX and FFXII got a bossfight I gave up the game on.

XV’s gameplay took heavy inspiration from Kingdom Hearts effectively making it Kingdom Hearts 3. For that reason I’ll always love it. But it also doesn’t quite feel like a final fantasy for the same reason.

I love how positive you are. You concentrate on the positive sides of the games and it’s obvious that you love every game in their own way.

What I got out of your comments and community votes is that the top 4 Final Fantasy games are in everyone’s varied favorite order is 6, 7, 9, and 10 so those are the four most worth playing…

I have a love hate relationship with 12, I LOvE the pseudo MMORPG feeling of 12 mixed with the real time combat and such. BUt the story…oh god the story, I don’t know other games sort of had it, but above all others 12 just felt like, “Sorry the princess is in another castle.” nothing ever seems to happen, we go to an area, then find out we have to go to another and continue that till near the end.

my favorite thing about FFII is that you can cheat about 40-60% of the leveling in first hour :> there is an area near the start where you can boost most of your stats till about mid game, and even from there still decent, if you go north west you near one of the end areas and if you beat them, you get huge boosts. Used to go there and could kill I think it was the wizard type monster if only 1 showed up, half the party would die, but the survivor(s) would get a ton of hp and such.

FFVI is the GOAT for me. Absolutely love that game. No other game in the series has captured me like that game. What an absolute GEM. Never too late to play that entry for anyone who hasn’t had the opportunity.

My top 3 are 3- FF 16, 2- FF 7 Intergrade, 1-FF 10. To me Final Fantasy 10 was perfect. I rarely play through a game more than 2 times, but I find myself returning to FF 10 over and over.

as someone that has appreciated the final fantasy series from afar until recently (the last 5 years or so), im playing through every single one in numerical order and i am having a blast! I started a few days ago and am in the middle of II and cant wait to get to VI as ive been told by several friends of mine that it is the best final fantasy of the 2d era and possibly the best overall. glad to see that isnt just them talking nonsense

The strongest part of FFXIV is the music. Where ARR is founded on long time FF master Nobuo Uematsu’s traditional sound, when Masayoshi Soken takes over the soundscape changes. The presence of leitmotifs becomes front and center. It’s almost like it’s a music album with a video game attached for marketing. What’s really mind blowing though is that the lyrics start to take on double meanings. The chorus of the insert song for this very section, Close In The Distance, is the background music for the final public zone of Endwalker and as the story progresses the music, which starts out faint to the point of almost being inaudible, gets louder and more complex after each cutscene until the player, the Warrior of Light, the Eikonslayer, the Warrior of Darkness, Chosen One of the Goddess Hydaelin, strongest single warrior in all of Eorzeans, is the only one left standing on a haunted chunk of rock at end of the universe having watched all their beloved friends die, sacrificing themselves so the Warrior can reach the final confrontation with the physical embodiment of Despair, Fear, and Loneliness and they somehow find the strength to walk on.

At this point, the lyrics are finally audible, and the chorus rings out
“Tales of loss and fire and faith
Every word on our hearts engraved
In the dark, you will not stray
Forge ahead till the end we pray”

is both prayer to the Warrior and breaks the 4th wall speaking to the players themselves. Then you find out that Soken-sama wrote most of Shadowbringers and Endwalker’s insert songs from his cancer bed and you can’t help but break down into tears.

1-7,10, and 12 would all make great remakes in the style of Claire Obscure Expedition 33. An active-turn based system with the modern graphics easily make my top game wish list

I have played almost every game. 15 was one of my altime favorites. I became so enthralled by it that I watched the movie, show, and read the book.

FF8 is the most underrated game in the franchise and deserves a remake

In my heart and soul, with a great pinch of nostalgia, FF8 will always be my personal favorite FF and one of my all time favorite games ever. That being said, OBJECTIVELY I have to put FFX in the number 1 spot. The music, the characters, the story, the plethora of sidequests, the aeons, the sphere grid, and unfortunately being the last great FF game made, I don’t think it can be toppled. If I leave nostalgia aside, I’d say 1- FFX 2- FFVII and 3- FFIV. For absolutely unknown reasons, I never got into FFVI. I KNOW it’s awesome, but I really don’t know why but every time I start it I love it until I completely lose interest halfway through and then start playing something else. Still to this day it’s the only FF I didn’t complete. One day I’ll see it through, one day

People are sleeping on Zodiark. You can run it as an alt commander for sephiroth against “go wide” decks. Plus comboing phantom train with zodiark is disgusting and saw in half.

Final fantasy type 0 was the first M rated one

hot take but i think FF 16 deserves a top 3 spot!! it´s a great example of an evolving and adapting franchise and it´s perfectly executed, has great storytelling and in my opinion does almost everything right!! i hope they continue the style in future games! it really hit my spot.

FFXV and FFXIII are some of my favorites. I liked a lot of FFXVI too. FFIII, FFV are also beloved, job system is so fun. Favorites gotta be FVII(especially the remakes) and FFX though.

I haven’t played all of the FFs nor do I ever plan on doing so. I’ve played 1,2, 6,7,8,9, 10, 12 and thats it. I was surprised to see 9 lower on your list. When X came out it was similar to the second coming of VII. Its interesting yet not super surprising you had 6 as your #1. Im Curious as to how you rank chrono trigger then? I recenty played CT and then VI on snes for first time in well over a decade and I must say as a kid and as an adult, CT is the better game.

Final Fantasy Tactics needs to be included in future comparisons. So tired of the Strategy RPG classification segregating it and forcing it to constantly compete with Tactics Ogre and other tactical strategy games. The story in FF Tactics is some of the best writing on behalf of the franchise.

12 is under rated and 13 was well over rated.

I have started with Final Fantasy 6 and I have grown up playing the FF franchise until the 13th so I can’t tell for the 1-6 and 14-15-16.
Maybe I am weird but each time I have tried to play the X, I didn’t enjoy the game at all.
I know for a lot of people the 7 and 10 are often the best, but the 10 would be among my least favorite FF, I never enjoyed playing it.
I don’t like the lack of liberty you had in the previous games, it’s just following a “hallway” and being linear with almost no place for exploring (unless you are close to the end game).
My favorites would be the 6, 7 and 9, followed by the 8, then 12, 10, 11, 13

FFT is #1

FF7 was my first one and it just got everything right, since then there has always been something that I disliked about the following games. 8 had magic drawing, 9 was too classic fantasy, 10 didn’t have an open world, 12 had dull characters/story/world, 13/paradigm shift only got good at the extreme endgame, 15 had horrendous combat, 16 honestly I respect quite a bit but the combat again got stale about half way through.

You put ff1 above 11? lol, weird. Its not that fun. it didnt age well. Its just a foundation. Thats like saying LoTR is the best written fantasy book. its just not. great foundation, horrible story.

Well after watching i have to say i dont disagree with this list. a handful of games that i might switch spots. but the one thing i agree with with absolute certainty is the VI is the greatest FF ever made.

Sorry but I had to stop this when you decided to be too cool for school and rank FF VII 3rd best. The whole world knows that is the best and the most important title, so the choice to rank it 3rd just feels like hipster-fueled pettiness, especially given the trivial criteria you used to justify ranking it lower, which to your credit must have taken tremendous creativity to counterfeit.

Legit top two! I never played online, and I would have put 12 where you put 14, but otherwise I agree with everything. I still play 6 from time to time, maybe my favorite game of all time! Plus there are bosses in 10 that I still have not beaten, the amount of end game optional bosses is staggering!

For me FFVII will always be the most overrated.

In most ways, it was worse than its predecessor, FFVI, but was the first entry on PlayStation 1, so a lot of people started with it.

I enjoyed it, but found its story worse than FFVI, FFVIII, FFIX and FFX.

I am just replaying some FF games. Just finished ff7 and now restarted ff9 as i dont think i finished it and cant remember half of it. FF10 and FF8 I had a love for. I couldnt get along with FF13 at the time and I put it down, so 2 questions. Based on me loving the old school turn based which of the ps4 games should I play[not played any] and 2nd is ff13 really worth me getting my head down and doing it. I did half love it but it was so locked in for ages at the start I got angry about wasting my time 😂

FF1 is the best. First one I ever played, because it was the only one. Nostalgia. Nothing compares.

While the thumbnail with 7th Heaven’s queen of many hearts + Remake & Rebirth’s spectacular greatness seem to point us to FF7, I sit fine with FF6 ranked top as I’ve also played & it’s that good + near & dear to heart.

If you played them all, then you’d know there’s alot more than 16.

VII is an excellent game, but it doesn’t age as well as many of the others. You really feel the clunkiness of the early PS1 era tech when you play it, which interestingly I don’t think is as bad with the NES and SNES entries. On that note I think FF1 is generally underrated and is on this list too, it should be about 4 spots higher imo. I think 12 and 13, in general, tend to be underrated, and I really dislike 15 and this action direction the newer FF are taking.

Oh, look, another FF tier list. Let’s see if FF2 is at the…. yeah… I’m not even surprised at this point.

Not a fan of the FF series but FF12ZA is one of the best games every made.

Final Fantasy VII and X are my 2 favorites.
VII for obvious reasons and X for the world I immersed myself into. I got Tidus, Wakka and Auron’s Ultimate Weapons, allowing me to hit over 9999. One strike with Tidus’ final weapon was around 50,000 HP

Having only played 14 and 16, I’d rank 16 at the bottom since its completely mediocre outside of the boss battles. 14 I have a lot of respect for and love their trailer cinematics, but the story just doesn’t do anything for me.

FFX will always be number one to me. Always… and its not even close. If they ever did a modern remake of it, I’d be over the moon. And even then I know it would never outdo the original. Spira has enchanted me for decades now. Side note, If i was Tidus, my quest to get home to Zanarkand would be OVER the second I laid eyes on Lulu. I still gamer-crush on that bombshell.

Id still play(and rank) 15 over a good number of those higher than it, but I can also agree that ot could’ve been handled way better and acknowledging that we got an unfinished product. But God dammit warp strike was so cool

I couldn’t bring myself to finish 16. Was super excited and entertained during the first 20ish hours, but then it just became a long neverending cutscene which was just too much. Also, the gameplay became kinda repetitive despite unlocking new powers and skills. Most will disagree with me but I find XV to be way better in almost everything.

I have the impression that many people say that Final Fantasy VII is the best because they were used to hearing that in the past. But I always found Final Fantasy X to be superior in every way; soundtrack, characters, iconic moments, villains and story. And I don’t understand why they never made a remake of FFX until today.

14 really benefits from being so story-focused, the fact that it was able to tell such an engaging narrative over the course of 10 years with its patches and expansions really made Endwalker the special experience that it is. We’ve watched the main cast grow, the stakes escalate, and stick the landing with a satisfying conclusion. I cried like a baby during that “Endwalk” sequence because I had been invested in this game and made and lost so many friends through it since high school. It’s really hard to describe how deeply this game affects its fans if you weren’t there since the beginning.

Since we’re listing the games with roman numerals, I’m just going to tell myself that you ranked FF8 as #2, because that’s what it looks like in roman numerals.

My ranking is close to the community ranking, except VII is number three, VI is number two, and IX is number one.

16 placement is wild to me

FF9 to me and many I know from that generation of release, it was the first FF game that had the FF vibe with the beautiful cut scenes. The unique plot around the summoner village will always be a core memory for me. I replay the remastered game at least once a year. I love it so much. I’m still happily awaiting MTG final fantasy spoilers of Eiko and Garnet summoning Alexandria!

final fantasy x will always be my favourite. the story is perfect, the world is perfect. The combat and the sphere grid bring so much replayability, when you have 1500 hours in an rpg you know thats love, not to mention my emotional bias, this game got me through the depression my father caused me, dragging me through courts as a teenager who just recovered from an illness with a 10% mortality rate, but im here to rank FFs not trauma dump. for the sake of leaving rebirth out of this and sticking to mainlines. my other 2 top 3 final fantasies are, in no order, are XII and IX. XII’s gameplay is the closest thing to the acronym “RPG”, everything else is good too, but the world and gameplay are stellar, + nostalgia bias. And then IX, i ve played IX in 2024, no game this old spoke to me like IX did, awesome story, awesome combat, awesome world, awesome characters, awesome soundtrack. (i havent finished any pixel game or 13 and i havent played the mmos either)

Almost every person I know ranks VI, VII, and X as the top 3 ever made. I don’t fault anyone for putting them in the order they choose, but to pick any other one other than those as the top 3 is insanity. They’re just shining examples as to why we love this series. VII will always be the one that tops the list for me. I was 16 when it released and the first time I broke down crying from a video game. VI was amazing, but I was a bit too young when it released to truly appreciate it and it sits as my #2. X will always remind me of being a young Marine spending weekends with friends with a couple pizzas and 2 liter bottles of soda going non-stop through the game with us all alternating on the controls and foregoing sleep to finish the story. The jump from PS1 to PS2 graphics left us in awe at the time. I’ve played every entry except XI and XIV(never enjoyed MMORPG’s).

The remake of VII and the potential remake of VI brings me back to being a kid again and I’m here for it. This series is why I continue to buy the latest consoles.

I can’t believe there’s any games being rated under XIII. I can’t even finish XIII before I get too bored to finish it. I’ve had no issue finishing any of the games other than XIII or III. I generally expected VI, X, IV, IX, and VII to be around the top 5. I wouldn’t have really though to include the mmo’s tbh since they’re an entirely different beast, feels like apples to oranges. XI was a great MMO experience back in the day though. Now I wouldn’t have nearly enough time to play it properly the way it was designed though.

FFVII was a groundbreaking game when it was released, this is what set it above every other FF. To this day it still has many amazing side quests such as Ruby, emerald, golden saucer etc which makes this game so epic.
FFX would be my second choice due to it being the first FF to incorporating voice actors, updated graphics and such a good story line, all while keeping close to the original turn based battle system.
Honourable mentions, FF8, 9 and 10-2. I lost interest a bit when the battle system changed to real time.

Who told you the reason why FFXIII isn’t good? And are you sure that person actually played the game?
The fact that people didn’t like FFXIII has to do with the monotony and the really bad pacing. “Linear” has nothing to do with it, as all Final Fantasy games are linear, some even skipped the “overworld”. It’s not a great game because the experience is very poorly paced, there are other stuff too, but this was the main problem. 
All I’m saying is, maybe there was some kind of misunderstanding.

I agree largely with most lists on FF games. I think I put 16 higher than most and I put 9 lower than most. 9 is a great game, but IMO it’s not a top 3 FF game.
6,7,10,4,16 all better prob in that order. I put 9 maybe next and is closer to FF8 imo than other FFs. People say they love the nostalgia element of it – but all FFs have some nostalgia elements and nostalgia doesn’t make a game better.

I’ll die on this hill, but I still think FF V is peak Final Fantasy, as one who’s enjoyed the series since it’s roots. When FF VI came out, it was a good game. A great game, even. But that too me felt like the transition point for the company from simply making great, fun games to make “Epic”, triple-A style titles. There’s nothing wrong with that, but there was a line that was crossed from 5 to 6, and I like that original old school vibe and FF 5 was the perfected iteration of that.

Final fantasy tactics isnt a numbered game in the series but is a complete standalone game. Not just a spin-off. I always wonder why it isnt ranked on lists like these. Its my #2 just barely beating out IX. The story is arguably the best out of all FF games. It has a complete cast of characters that are intertwined. Some good some bad. The battle and gameplay are completely unique but still rooted in FF with the job system. But for some reason this game gets no love. Shame

7 is so overrated. The whole story is literally just looking for one dude, who you honestly eventually one shot. You find him, instantly fight, and then he’s dead. A build up for dozens of hours for the most anti climactic end game gauntlet in Final Fantasy. Story is below average, it’s only saving grace is when it came out & the character design. 4, 6, 9, 10 and 12 are all WAY better.

I understand 10 and 6 above 7 and 9, these are all quality games really close, but 13 above 1 2 5 11 AND 8? that’s certainly a brave choice.

My favorite is also my favorite game of all time. FF9. No other game has been able to beat it. Maybe it was just because I played it at the perfect time in my life where it had the most impact on me, maybe it’s nostalgia, but I can still play FF9 and not get tired of it.
I’d love to see other rpgs utilize that progression system!

7 is a bit weird. I didn’t like the original release of 7. I still think it’s overhyped, personally. The world was cool and I really liked Vincent and Yuffie, I even liked Advent Children and Vincent’s spinoff game Dirge of Cerberus! But the main game was just meh to me. The Remake was so cool, though. I really liked it a lot. I haven’t played Rebirth, yet, though, and I would still plan to rank the trilogy of the FF7 remakes as a complete package. So I haven’t placed it on my list, yet. Also! I just finally started 13-2, so I’ll have to rank that later as well.

My favorite is final fantasy V, the story might not be as complex as VI, but it’s still a good story and fun characters, besides it has great replay value. I Wish V and VI would have gotten a proper remake.

Man 8 and 9 are way too low IMO. 8 got me in, so I am biased on that 1 . I 8 and 9 are easily top 4 for me. I could put 9 at 1 over 7 or even 8. Ff8 at 11 and ff9 at 7 is crazy to me.. but different tastes for everyone.. ff10 at 2 … I trippin 😂.. nah I’m just playing.. look each FF story to at least 12 had an amazing story that really emotionally pulled you in, tugged your heart, made you laugh and even shed a tear. So it is subjective but they were all great in there own way and all #1 in there own way

Out of everything I’ve played FFX I hold closest to my heart and I would say is my favorite. It was the first game of the franchise I played. I think it was my first turn based game at least outside of Pokemon which I never got super deep into.
Separate thought, my take on FFXVI… It’s a bunch of mixed feelings. As a game it’s good. The graphics are dope and the game play is fun. The story is decent imo but nothing super stand out. As far as a Final Fantasy game goes it ranks suuuuuper low for me. It doesn’t feel like Final Fantasy at all. No party system. The magic doesn’t feel right. No status effects and just a bunch of missing FF type stuff just took it out of the franchise for me. My biggest problem is how reminiscent of Devil May Cry it is (awesome games, no shade here). When I started playing it, my roommate walked into room and said “WOW is there a new DMC out??” It just doesn’t hit those notes that every game seems to hit and really makes you think of Final Fantasy.
It’s a great franchise and has something for everybody. I have a goal to one play every installment. It’s a lot but I think in the end it’s worth it because I do love Final Fantasy.

Final Fantasy IV on the DS is painstakingly difficult. Which is why I love it! The challenge/reward aspect makes it very worth the struggle.

I found FF16 to be such a chore to finish, I hated it.

I gotta say why final fantasy 7 and above are popular due to the age era. People who liked pre ffviii (ff6 ff5 ff4 top hits) are in their 40s 50s currently, and a big chunk probably have stopped gaming. People who played ffvii and after are probably in their 30s and below which are the prime game players. I believe if you can do a full 100% content playthru on ff6, you would admit ff6 story development and the game design at that time era was considered astronomical

Lovely ending speech. My first FF was XV, is not my favorite game because other stories touched my feelings more and comparing it to the other games lacks of way too many in both gameplay and plot. Despite that the journey with the boys, the cities of Altissa and Lestallum, Ardyn are memories that i’ll bring with me forever (as well as the disappointment and sadness towards all the rest of the game 😐 )

6:Final Fantasy 4 ( when story meets a much more solid gameplay experience . Then the music. Part 4 screams epic. )

5:Final Fantasy 8 ( people don’t understand tripple triad and the junction system. Do it all right and get Diablos encounter none ability and you suddenly have a grind free , smooth sailing rpg. Abolishing and spreading card rules can get frustrating. If not for that this one would rank higher.)

4:Final Fantasy 12 ( huge , super fast real time battle system. I prefer the unrestricted license board from the PS 2 original but zodiac age is still great . )

3:Final Fantasy 6 ( the greatest of the 8 and 16 bit games. They went all out on this one. Huge adventure , tons of abilities to learn and the world almost ends?)

2:Final Fantasy 7 ( absolutely legendary and still very fun. The materia system is so addicting!)

i remembrr first playing ffvii as a kid with my uncle, we played hundreds of hours and it took forever to end, my uncle said to me “this game never ends” and i looked at him and said “why would you want it to end?”, such good memories

5, 8 and 9 are too low. 4 should have been in the top 3.

Ff ix is my favorite then x, xiii, vi. Side games and side quests were the best

I love FFX so much. By far my favorite of all of them and the ONLY one that I have completed and then replayed. Same with X-2. Those games are so good.

I love FF7 and have nostalgia for it but I think it is so overrated. I personally think 15 and 16 even 8 has better stories, improved mechanics and a lot more to do in it. Yes all three are after 7 but I do think a lot of people don’t see and realize that ff7 can be a bad game with encounter rates so high, bosses that are no fun and worse then ff3s end dungeon at times, the minigames not as good as any other entry in the ff series. The only thing that saves ff7 for being a good ff game not game in general is the scene aethrith dies and the materia system as its the best in the series here.

Cool list, not too far off from the order I would rank them. I just started playing all the games in order from 1-16 a few days ago. It’s fun to go back and live everything all over again.

I only played the pixel remaster of FF1 but i remember cid is mentioned their as Well. He is the one who made the air ship

VI and VII will always be the best to me. Tactics also.
