The duchess make me laugh so much, she rejected Clive because he was no Dominant and Joshua because he was too weak, yet sue cling to her last son like he was a god when he was not a Dominant himself and quite weak too, in fact he was nothing but an illusion.
She betrayed her own family for an illusion who brought nothing but ruin in the end. That was as laughable as it was pitiful, and she deserved every minute of it.

Favorite fight of the entire game, hands down. Everything was an uphill battle, the MC was outmatched in narrative and mechanics, and it took two whole dominants fusing to just barely pull off a win.

Arguably the best boss fight I’ve ever played in my decades of gaming, and this is coming from someone who played Asura’s Wrath.

The thing I love about the scene with Clive finally meeting his mother again was how she spent a good number of times trash-talking Clive’s very existence, but instead of defending himself in his responses to her, Clive would defend JOSHUA more so than himself when speaking back to her each time she ridiculed and berated him here.

Even Clive, against their own mother, would protect his brother’s name from her before he would protect himself and his own name. He truly was Joshua’s shield in not just actions, but in words.

Should have shown the mother’s despair more in this scene when she realised, the son she called a “failure” held a more powerful Eikon of Fire than even Phoenix

When I first played this game, at around 24:38, I sat my controller down and just stared at the screen in awe for around 5 minutes, maybe longer, at the sheer spectacle I was witnessing. The music, the buildup towards the battle against Dion, the literal fusion between Ifrit and Phoenix (or Clive and Joshua), everything about this boss battle was perfect, down to the most microscopic detail. I think this might be the greatest boss fight of all time in any video game, especially given context. Hell, even without, this is nothing short of the peakest of peak that could ever exist.

With all the Eikons fighting in this reminds me of what the Esper War/War Of The Magi was like in Final Fantasy VI.

Been a fan of Final Fantasy since day 1 on the NES as a kid. It became my favorite franchise up through the SNES to the PS2. But after Final Fantasy XII, I fell off, XIII and XV didn’t feel…”right”. But when I saw the preview to this, played the demo on PC…I had to buy it! And Im glad, I haven’t felt this good about a decent Final Fantasy medievel dark fantasy since Final Fantasy since IV.

This part of the game was amazing. My one selfish want that I feel was missing was some sort of reaction from their mom when Clive primed into Ifrit. Her only gripe with him is that he wasn’t a dominant and that pretty much led to her selling out her family and country. I wanted to see a reaction where she fully realized it was all for nothing and that she gave up everything for no reason

A really cool thing they could’ve done for the Zettaflare is make it that it is the only clash you do in the game that does damage to Ifrit Risen when you clash with it. A similar concept was done in TOTK for the final boss, breaking the health bar limits and just keep going. It gives off that whatever it is, it is not constrained by the game mechanics and systems. That would surefire show to anyone uninitiated, that Zettaflare is NOT some ordinary power; it is a power to destroy worlds, perhaps entire galaxies. The power that destroyed an entire game’s world and created a new one in its place.

Just seeing Ifrit Risen use all of its power to stop a world-nuking Zettaflare with the ambient Ascension music in the background is fucking PEAK. Topping that off with Ifrit saying “This ends NOW!” while bringing Bahamut down in an epic clash of light versus fire had me SOLD on this game. God damn am I able to enjoy this in 2024, because this brought back my passion for Final Fantasy!

This sequence kinda ruins the conflicts of previous eikons for me. If Dion and Bahamut had the potential to burn the PLANET, how was Odin “keeping him at bay”? By cutting space with the fancy sword? Titan turning into the Earth Hydra made sense because it followed logically with his powers and didnt go overboard. This went from Bahamut being really strong to the point that only Odin could match him in combat to Dragon Ball Z levels of power scaling. Cool sequence, but nonsensical in the setting

Just did this boss a couple nights ago for the first time. This fight is a masterpiece. This is the most beautiful piece of art I’ve ever seen and nothing will ever be better. I love it so much I have replayed this entire mission 3 times and haven’t progressed anymore through the game. Idk if I ever will. This is just phenomenal. Game has given me Kingdom Hearts vibes since the start and this fight was so much like Xemnas Nobody ship fights on KH2. FF16 did it better. bahamut and odin are presented as on another lvl compared to the other eikons
rahmu shiva ifrit garuda are rather small and basic elementals
titan rather big and clumsy, but powerfull and rough

the only 3 icons that are simply different are

leviathan whos lost, cuz its big and commands massiv bodies of water
odin cuz he is big fast and has a shitload of gimmicks
bahamut cuz of this

it takes legit 2 eikons over several big fights to put him down
makes bahamut look rly strong

I really like the heart pounding route they took with this game. My Final fantasy journey began way back in 1992 with FF2(US) which is now known as FF4 of course. It’s like FF16 is bringing all these characters and moments ive known for 30 years truly to life. And they’ve done it well, especially with the Eikons. Clive is what i imagined Cecil was in terms of being an elite swordsman, and finally we now have the computing power to show it. Same with Bahamut. Great take on final fantasy

This boss fight is very anime esc and kinda honkai impact 3rd

i think the best part for me is that you hear a small version of the Find the Flame when Clive primes into Ifrit.
so instead of accepting the power that he tried fighting, instead its using the power to protect the one he thought he killed.
GOD the turn around is fucking AWESOME!

For me the game peaked at Bahamut.

It had multiple phases that never failed to build up in term of grandness. Good pacing no down moment. A very solid follow-up after Titan.

Importantly it was also full of emotion as Clive met their mom and reunited with Joshua, ending with the revelation of Dion’s tragic story.

I was on edge the whole time because it felt like a battle between Joshua & Dion’s death flags but good thing both survived 😂

Although he lost, Bahamut was fucking dominating the majority of the fight. Like bro really made Ifrit and Phoenix look like children compared to him. FF16 was all about Ifrit being the main star and Bahamut still came out as the strongest Eikon (I don’t really count Ifrit Risen as a single Eikon since that is a fusion between Phoenix and Ifrit).
According with what I saw and how I feel, the Eikon rankings go like this:
1. Bahamut
2. Ifrit (Base)
3. Odin
4. Phoenix
5. Titan
6. Ramuh (6 and 7 can swap around tbh)
7. Shiva
8. Garuda

Great game… if I had a single complaint is that the villains, like Anna here, are just mustache-twirling simple villains

The only downside of this magnific game is the fact we don’t get to play with grown up Joshua at least one more time before the end. I really missed it.

Does anyone think that FF XVI is future world of FF IX? There is many similarities such as Clive Hideaway is called Invincible it is same as FF IX last airship, eikon Fenrir, Ramuh, Phoenix, the Twin Island is same as Island of FF IX at very north of FF IX map, and in the moon of FF XVI we can see red planet and it is same as Terra at FF IX, did anyone notice?

Just played this part of the story today, was left in complete awe and goosebumps, and easily the best boss fight of any game.

The music, the fight, the cinematics. holy shit the whiplash of emotion. I love this fight so much, and odin too! but this fight was so nice just cuz of everything put together

It’s just otherworldly, the dragoons rebelling, the holy capital on flames, the dominion bath on caos, Bahamut’s brilliance, once worshiped light incinerating everything, Phoenix flying again, Clive’s reunion with Joshua, Annabella, close to the death she deserves, Ifrit demonic flames reaching the heavens… everything is just otherworldly, and then.. 6:03 just did it for me. It’s not a fight anymore between potential gods, it’s the remnants of pure memories outclassing the world, in this fight the last thing to worry about is getting out of it alive, my god, what a build up, what a scenario, 👏👏 f*ck, if I ever have the chance I will gladly shake the hand of everyone that worked on this beautiful piece of a masterpiece.

All those power ups, and all Bahamut could do was a poor imitation of Donald Duck’s power

I just played this ABSOLUTE. MASTERPIECE. OF A FIGHT!!!!!! I’m GENUINELY at a loss for words, speechless. This will go down as one of the most epic things I’ve ever experienced. How incredible is it that gaming has advanced to such a level that something like this IS FULLY PLAYABLE???? FREAKING IFRIT AND PHOENIX FUSED TOGETHER FIGHTING GOLDEN KING OF DRAGONS BAHAMUT IN SPACE!!!!!!! Bravo Square Enix. I will never forget this fight for the rest of my life.

If you could stop playing as a speedrunner and play more as a gamer I would appreciate. Every content creator play so desperate, smashing buttons that they forgot to enjoy the fight.

I didn’t need to know much about Final Fantasy, I just felt it.. I knew that this game was special from the very first trailer, I’m so happy to have bought it, because I think I’m a FF fan at hearth I just didn’t realize it until now haha.

This was by far the best boss fight in the game. Not even the final boss compared to this. I was kind of miffed that we don’t hear Annabella’s thoughts at seeing Ifrit. They killed her off a bit too soon.

They only thing thats disappointing for me is that the Fight against odin and the final boss weren’t near where close to Bahamut or the Titan

For those who go way back, I see a lot of parallels with BRAVE FENCER MUSASHI:

-The protagonist was actually “freeing” the antagonist by destroying crystals/crests
-The 5 Eikon fights are the 5 “Crest Guardians”
-Final boss can use all elements
-Protagonist can absorb or “assimilate” powers
-Kingdoms & knights

I m been gaming for 16 years and I played a lot of games , I mean a lot .. and this one is hands down the most epic one I have experienced . Truly a masterpiece in epicness !!

The Irony of all this for their mother. Joshua was still alive. Clive actually was a Fire Dominant, and the child she did end up with was nothing more than a puppet. Karma.

I really don’t like how they butchered FF into this buttonmasing crap with shallow story and combat, but those summon fights are kinda cool due to their diversity and the way they merge cutscene and actual gameplay.

Just played through this and this shatters the Titan fight as the best in the game. This whole sequence was wholly satisfying to me. My only critique was that Clive or Jill didn’t get to put hands on Annabella for all the shit she put them through.

Remember guys, donald duck is just as powerful as Bahamut here

Bahamut is always so majestic, and that’s why he’s my favourite summon. Also, those 3 different forms in FF7 are extra flavor.

This has to be one of the most insanely epic battles I’ve ever seen in any form of media. Dion Bahamut almost nuked the entire planet three times during this fight when he charged up Teraflare, Supernova, and Zettaflare. That kind of power makes you feel like you’re going up against a god.

Nothing like a symphonic music to go with a boss battle.

Prince Dion has to be the most tragic character in the game. His biological mother is presumably dead, his stepmother is literally an evil psychotic bitch who abused and gaslit him, his dad basically lost all his marbles after marrying his insane stepmother and sent him on these suicide missions, his younger brother also shows signs of psychotic tendencies, he nearly nuked the entire planet as Bahamut, is mostly revered by his people because of his status as Bahamut’s Dominant, and has had to sacrifice his life and happiness with the man he loves as well as the little girl he’s grown to love as something of a daughter in order to atone for his sins. There’s no one who has suffered more than he has and it shows in this massively EPIC battle against his brothers.

This bahamut was the craziest fight. You just couldn’t put this thing down.

Bahamut is awesome here, but I would’ve loved to see this games’ take on Alexander as the holy eikon of light. Alexander is always so much bigger than the other summons, but for once so many of the summons are titanic and alexander would’ve fit right in but probably look cooler than ever; and be so badass powerful; on par with odin(as the eilon of darkness) would be ideal.

Most people don’t know but the music that starts here 1:02 is the FF1 main theme. They changed it to be so dramatic. Gives me goosebumps and tears to my eyes, I played that game in 1990.
