I have yet to play this game, so when this video was recommended I decided to pop in and read a few comments to try and judge people’s opinion to decide if it was worth paying full price or if I’m going to wait for a sale. Seeing all the praise makes me so ridiculously happy. I assumed people would lean more negatively just because the series has changed so much over the years and people suck, and the suckiest people who were never gonna like this game (even if they would probably love it if it wasn’t called final fantasy) are typically the loudest and want everyone to know it was better in the 90s. As soon as I’m thru with Kingdom Come II this will be the next game I play and I cannot wait

I hate the fact that Clive had to sacrifice himself in the end. The hero sacrifice troupe is starting to get annoying and old, it happened in XV too. Time to allow the hero to live happily ever after or make a game where all the universes mesh other than Dissidea, where you can create a party with all the previous characters to do an epic open world adventure. Come on square do something more interesting.

I really enjoyed the story, the music, and the vocal performances, but so many other things dampened my experience. I often found myself annoyed with frame rate drops, annoying side quests, and a combat system that quickly lost its novelty. A top three Final Fantasy story, but a 6 for the actual world and gameplay.

I quit after the Dion fight. Annalbellas death was the most unsatisfying and irritating thing I’ve experienced in a video game in a while. The first half of the game is great but the second half is hot garbage.

One part epic battles and political intrigue, one part “Can you take this thing across the room for me? I’m unable to move from this exact spot, for…. reasons.”

It’s crazy that it took to the VERY end of the game to have some form of positive romantic relationship holy shit….

This is the best story of any game in the series imo. Doesnt necessarily mean it is the best overall but the story is incredible.

Ultima as an antagonist was fascinating. All powerful, almost omniscient and omnipotent yet in complete denial about the unending nature of the blight. I see many similarities in humanity.

The pacing of the game ruined the story for me. I actually like the plot. I just wish it didn’t have this FFXIV-esque quest pacing.

I played the game after beating Benedikta and I didn’t feel too crazy about Clive or the gameplay (it’s not bad, just okay). So I came here just because I was curious about what the rest of the story was. This story’s fantastic! I love the themes, political drama, characters, and lore!
Who knew all I had to do was play for 5 more minutes to see Jill and Clive reunite for real.
I need to do a second playthrough

In a Nutshell the message is Anti-God, it’s saying that God is Evil and the only way for humanity to be truly free is to abandon faith and kill God. In reality, humanity is abandoning faith and God, but humanity isn’t anymore free and in many ways we are more oppressed by technology and government entities that are replacing God.

Wow, what a story.
I could honestly see a game based in Valisthea, couple hundred years before this, that is a Final Fantasy Tactics-style. Just like with Ivalice, you have the foundations for a fantastic political plot turning into magic and crystals plot, that still isn’t world-ending. That is my favorite thing about FFT, and Tactics Ogre and Ogre Battle and FF12 until the VERY end, they all feel so much more grounded in the politics of a region, so they feel more fleshed-out and ALIVE.

This game slapped so hard, loved the dark theme and story, beautifully written. Sad af ending tho imo

I know theres people who love this game and I commend you for that. I WISH I could’ve gotten in to it. Also with they would’ve referred to the summons as either summons or espers but that’s a minor gripe for what is otherwise, to me, an extremely boring game.

Thank you guys for this video. It finally comfirmed my suspicions about the game. Each cut scene felts like a different person wrote the story in their own way. And the lack of back story for Jill, cid, and joshua left the interactions among them emotionless. Cid connection to his past lover felt a bit rushed and empty, Joshua roaming for years with the help of a secret society and still couldnt find his brother and jill slavery days were so random and unfinished pieces. They could save all this with a few DLCs i think.
