Diablo 4 is the only one I have or have played I really enjoy it. I see that it gets some hate but it’s a good game to me

I started diablo back in the late 90s with D1 as a child playing it wity my dad followed by D2 then LOD. I have easily 5k hours in d2 over the past 25 years. I played d3 on release beat it and got board. Ros came out beat the story and got board again. Came back to LOD with the plugy mod then d2r. Played d4 and got board before finishing the story of d4.
D3 and D4 are great games however, i have a deep dis like of thier loot system. The tailored loot to your character takes away the rush of getting that perfect item or getting an item that would be awesome for a different class so you save it and build and character for that item. They also removed the player ran trading economy that exists in D2 still to this day. The idea of a “holy grail” run cant happen in d3 or d4 with out multiple characters.
D3 and 4 are great games for the casual gamer but d2 is for the hardcore gamers that want to grind for rare loot to build the perfect character to take on Uber tristrum or uber diablo for the hellfire torch and anni charm

If Diablo 3 and 4 are so great, why are people playing Diablo 2 still?

First was Diablo 1 when it came out, devoured the book – it was difficult enough that I only remember completing it once before Diablo 2 came out.

Recently steamrolled a season of Diablo 3 before buying Diablo 4 on sale. I havent finished Diablo 4 but my playthrough as a necromancer has not been as exciting as my recent and first experience as a necromancer in Diablo 3. Not really sure what the mounts or even other players are good for at this point. I’ll probably pick another class and stick around through the next season but right now I think I’m glad I can still go back to diablo 3. It just feels like the Diablo 4 experience peters out about halfway through the game.

I don’t get the Hate against D3. It was fun! The only thing that was really stupid are the seasons with every time the same things… That was Boring. The Game itself was fun.

Quick comparison:
– D1 : Dark father of RPG games.
– D2 : Evolution D1, adding multiplayer addictive looting, trading and pvp.
– D3 : Like D2 but longer traveling, less meaningful loot, worse trading, no pvp and without being able to name game instances.
– D4 : Like D3 but without game instances at all and feeling even more isolated, and an attempt of adding pvp back.
As you see, the “game” saga ended in D2. From there it’s just walking around a world for no reason.

But story and lore were expanded greatly in D3, IMO campaign is still better than in D4… Endless MMO like towns in D4 are not serious, they’re just boring, while in D3 you have actual tragic stories of barbarians, Westmarch, angels vs demons and so on. They kinda ruined Diablo lore in D4 and expansion. Fundamentally D4 plays the same as D3 in end-game…

Diablo 2 Lod is still unbeatable. diablo 3 was boring and stale and Diablo 4 was the final nail in the coffin.
Diablo 3 and 4 are not really a diablo 2 sequel, just a different games all together.

The Butcher fight in Diablo 1 is an iconic moment in gaming. Every player back in the day, including myself, got jump-scared and then proceeded to panic as we got hacked to bits. One of the best memories in gaming I have.

althought i think the games are great, they are missing a key ingredient. the way d3 and d4 sets up your game is u hunt for a OP item, equip it, and then use the build dictated by the item, this system is very linear (for example, d4: season 7: kessime’s legacy) is the only viable option. in d2 you could play anything you wanted, and in d2: median this was expanded upon, where u had 150 builds and not just 1 build per class that works. too bad the d2 engineers dont make the sequels, as the young engineers that make d4 dont have the mathematical prowess to achieve this. it is a foundational error. while they try to follow the recipe, they dont know how to implement it.
alternative: they need a loosely system of items.
so my experience: play necro, copy build of maxroll, get items free, and then try to progress. there is no alternative to blood wave, although the game says its style over substance and the scaling thing should work, it does not. the negro or the young engineers who made it have a several lack of comprehension of RPG mechanics. they are probably some kids with no life experience

The big difference between The Butcher and any boss from Diablo 4? I actually remember who the butcher is.
Diablo 4’s problem is that you have to beat the entire game, including the uber bosses to get any of the good loot, at which point, it’s meaningless. There is nothing left to accomplish. Unlike Diablo 2 where the whole point of loot was building a character that could even beat the endgame content.

A bunch of the things you mentioned about “diablo 1” were not in diablo 1. they were only in the hellfire expansion which 95% of people never had.

Diablo 1 had the most deep, intensive atmosphere. Diablo 2 one of the best games of all time. 3 and 4 are fun but too much hack n slash. More soul in 1 and 2, but I feel 4 is slightly deeper and funnier than 3. IMHO.

D2 is the best Diablo game and d2r is still the best Diablo game you can play both in modern day and retro gaming. Diablo 3 and 4 are actually pathetic when you look at the long view of the Diablo franchise and compare them all to their respective eras and limitations. Diablo 4 had by far the most potential and resources and came out the worst and it gets better for less money as you go backwards. Corporate greed gets into video games, especially big successes like Diablo, and then they destroy the IP and franchise milking them for all their worth as cash grabs while they burn them to the ground and cash out.

Just finished the main campaign in D4 and I loved it, I’ve been playing Diablo since the OG game and love all 4 games.

Diablo 4 nailed it’s main campaign, they clearly took notes from the Reaper of souls and kept it streamlined and right to the point.

Now let’s see how good is the endgame, I’m excited to grind my way through the torment level…

Diablo 4 single player in general I liked it, good story, a decent world although it could have been better, it lacked more cruelty in that world, I found the online boring, I don’t use the clans, the world bosses drop horribly, too much farming to get items for more farming, the microtransactions were the worst, and the end game was boring, few classes, no need to combine characters, like a shovel that gives you its buffs, I expected more from Diablo 4 in terms of map size and things that Diablo 3 did have.

There was a bug in Diablo 1, you can double the stat potion infinitely and max your stat at 250.

My first Diablo game was Diablo III. I still love it, the game brings back memories. Reaper of souls was a good expansion.

I never truly got into arpgs, but i remember my older brother and dad both putting some serious time into D2 back in the day. Everyone fighting over the family pc, mom with her recipes and early blogs, me with AIM and Doom, Roller Coaster Tycoon and The Sims and my brother and father with diablo mostly. Oh and Runescape. Way too much time put into that game. I did play diablo 2 a little bit but i never put much thought into games and because of that it never seemed too fun to me. But i still bought and played Diablo 3 a little and Ive been messing around in 4 here a little bit getting it on a big Christmas sale. Ive always enjoyed the games somewhat and they can be incredible fun but something about arpgs keeps me from getting sucked in but also keeps me coming back. The gameplay and story of diablo keeps me coming back but i never did care for metas, op builds, and trying to break the game with numbers go big attitudes. I just wanna play a game for fun and looking at gear with tons of affects and stats and affixes and what goes with what and synergizing everything with spells and skill trees and boards so i can beat the endgame content faster just doesnt seem fun to me. Diablos always been fun for me but also a bit of a drag at times, ill see how far i get into 4 maybe ill finish the campaign, i doubt ill follow along with the seasons. Small chance ill follow a fun looking build for op endgame crap but its doubtful. But essentially D2 is what started my love for any kind of rpg style game. Action, linear, openworld, doesnt matter. I would love a single player offline arpg with simplified mechanics for the casual scrub like myself just to simply enjoy the game and happily rot my brain with a screen lol.

D4 seems to be very much the successor to D2. D3 felt like WOW or something.

Person computer most people were lucky to even have a PC when Diablo 1 came out and was likely a family shared PC.

He didn’t mention the mobile game until the last 5 seconds of the video, and it felt right. I forgot that thing even existed, hopefully they learned what NOT to do from that game.

Diablo I sort of had way points too in that every time you reached a new type of level in the dungeon you opened a new entrance from town that led to the first level of that dungeon tileset level.

If you like Diablo 1, then look for The Hell mod. It adds a lot of stuff

It has several cool features, except higher screen resolution, like batch items identification, faster town movements speed etc, just to keep the original gameplay less annoying

Those Nephilem orbs in d3 were needed on console due to a programming error where console players were only doing 50% damage compared to PC.. easier to program orbs in than actually fixing the issue

I played D1, Hellfire and then D2. A LOT of LoD. I somehow couldn’t jump into candie crush saga called D3, and I’m still hesitant to visit D4. I played PoE in the “meantime” and I don’t see any advantage over it in D3 and maybe even D4. PoE looked and felt so much better than D3 even back in 2013-14, and is easily comparable to D4 from 2023-24. Currently I’m sticking to D2 remastered version, yes I’m that conservative.

i remember the first time i played diablo 2, just a kid using the house computer but only me and my brother use it, i remember seeing it installed and by the name i was kinda scared of what would mean, but a feeling of trying to know what is, so with bravery i click on the game and after selecting my character it became a obsession, it was on kill monsters and getting better at it, upgrading and things that weren’t too scary from what i thought, i only beat andariel because some day i just forgot it, and now i guess i can try to end it the way i should’ve done 10 years before

D4 just doesn’t feel like a Diablo game. It feels rushed, which it was because Blizzard forced it out after players hating on them over Immortal. It’s just brown and dull… and not solo enough to feel like the old D2. I hope the next one is better, but I’m never touching 4.

Diablo 2 is my favorite. I just like how simple the skill system is, and the skill synergies they later added on. The skills feel very powerful and you do not need good gear to beat the game. diablo 3 and 4 they seemed to just focus purely on gear and the skill trees are completely different. Diablo 4 skill tree is more complicated which i dislike. Also Diablo 3 and 4 throws too much gear at you that your swimming in legendary garbage. Meanwhile in Diablo 2 I never actually obtained any good gears, so I would always get excited when I got a unique or set item even when it was not even that great. Diablo 4 I was already decked in full legendary gear before i beat the game. Also in Diablo 2 even magic and rare items can still be quite powerful and help you beat the game and the legendary and set items wasn’t always better. in diablo 4 higher rarity is always better.

D3 and D4 throw skills, damage stats, gold and gear at you.

D4 is also an action focused loot pinata with visual clutter. They failed to get back to any of the things that made D1 and D2 classics, and they leaned into the mindless, speedy, trash monster killing that throws loot at you of D3. They’ve just fooled you with darker graphics.

I don’t give a flying fck about graphics. If the gameplay isn’t good and the story isn’t good I’m not touching it. There are games with 8bit graphics I love to play to this day and games with top of the line graphics I want nothing to do with.

I just couldn’t get into D4 for some reason. I think my biggest pet peeve is that you can’t zoom out far enough and the fact that it instantly felt like a sequel to Diablo: Immortal, which I didn’t particularly enjoy, left a bad taste in my mouth.

D2 was my childhood. I remember my pc usually freezes the moment Diablo casts his aoe fire circle thing. Especially when im on Druid having 6 wolves on the run. Growing up with a cheap computer but it doesnt stop me from replaying the game again & again for I cant remember how long… Love every moment of it. My fav classes were : Sorc, Amazon, Necro and Druid

I mean after Starcraft Remastered and Warcraft 3 Reforged my expectations were at zero and then they come out with a masterpiece of a Remaster/Remake.

Literally grew up with Diablo.. played 1 to 4, but the most I recall in my kiddo era was D2… Finished it using a Palladin with a holy aura (i think it is lol). D1 and D2 were so tough (never finished D1 since I was like a kid who didnt have the patience back then). D3 was my game when I was kinda starting out working in corporate.. played it on and off for maybe 8 years. D4 is my current game.. a little older and richer.. I bought an rtx4080 just for D4 (coz im the drama). This franchise helped me cope with a lot of things, in fact, helped me tuned out in this crazy world one moment at a time.

Certain charms are worth keeping on you imo, damage charms, skill charms and resistance charms are the best to have. My assassin and necro can do a ton of poison damage with them.

I wish to live in a reality where Blizzard is a great company with a vision, and Blizzard north never left, therefore making diablo games as much of a stable series as say monster hunter or final fantasy. Don’t need a game every year, but always something to look forward to.

I can’t at all play D1. D2 blows and I’d only remembered so fondly due to nostalgia. D3 is by far the best imo, best classes, best build mechanics, best art direction, good blend of humor and “dark fantasy horror”, and its just the most fun to play. D4 is mid as hell, still better than D2, but the weird difficulty spike is annoying. I also dislike very much how you’re supposed to move around and dodge stuff, but your dodge is on a 5 second timer 😂. The world is so just a shiny version of D2, which is to say it’s boring as hell. I’ll give D4 some credit though, the story seems a bit more interesting than the others. The skill blows though and I greatly prefer D3…..also, no legendary loot yet and I’m lvl20 and started on world tier 2…….I’m annoyed by this.

I played Diablo when it first came out. Spent everyday after school going ot my friends house taking turns playing. Was a blast. Played Diablo 2 for years. D3 on and off for a year…Diablo 4 feels like a response to Diablo Immortal “Don’t you guys have phones?” catastrophe at Blizzcon. It looks the same and it feels the same. With different levels of monetization. I loved the beta then we get the full game and got his over the head with GIVE US MORE MONEY. It really…soured the experience. Along with the nerfs well after I stopped playing.

Diablo 3 on the PS3 and on Hardcore has that survival element (if you don’t chicken out on difficulties). There’s fewer enemies but they are more dangerous and the consequence could not be more severe. It’s honestly really tense and thrilling. It’s too bad it did not get the content past a patch or two into the expansion.

Honestly, i don’t understand why anyone would choose to play these games on softcore and at a difficulty where enemies pose no challenge. You might as well be doing office work.

Hellfire doesn’t exist. Was made by outside company. Not a real expansion. And is blasphemy.

I have to say that I’m quite impressed with Diablo 4. The dark and grim tone of the game reminds me alot of Diablo 1. The original was dark and full of dread, a proper atmosphere for a storyline centered around fighting the forces of hell. I also like the fact that things are slowed down in Diablo 4, and are more challenging. I want to feel like I am fighting to survive and that things must be earned through hard fought battles and survival. Maybe I’m just old school but that’s how I think Diablo was always meant to feel. Diablo 2 did a great job at this as well. Diablo 3 however, felt a little cartoony. Diablo Immortal though fun, also has that lighter cartoon atmosphere to it. In conclusion, I think Diablo 4 is true to the first two games in the series and I would recommend it to any old school Diablo gamers.

Ehhhh…… Unless 4 has changed significantly, there was absolutely no challenge to the game except the end game loop. Which is dook. Only like 5% of players even stick around that long and even less when the rest of the game is crap and boring.

diablo 2 only took 3 years to make? wow. The most addicting game I’ve ever played and continue to play for over 20 years. Odd how a game without skins and bought XP boosters could be so fun! i wish open trading continued the same way d2 did it, nothing compares. The feeling i get when that first shako or occy drops during a ladder reset is incomparable. This game ruined my elementary and junior high school experience. i was truly an addict

Been playing since 97 and honestly I love Diablo Immortal right now. I do flip between D2R and 3 but Immortal is so fun and a great story line. Tons of updates to keep it fresh as well

I started playing diablo 2 then 1

D1 and D2 did things different, but they also existed in a different environment. Its not something that can ever be recaptured from the development side, because the development of the game cannot control the environment the game exists within. Early online competitive games were coming out well before any type of established communities like with the plethora of youtube tutorials. This often meant that you had to discover your own ‘meta’ to be competitive, an the only indicators you could find (without a PHD level of research through forum hopping) were the times someone else would woop you and you had to sit and wonder how their character was so much stronger than yours. Trial and error was an essential part of the process of ‘getting gud’ where now, you can blind yourself, but only to your own disadvantage. It only makes you the one blind player playing against what ever the most recent guide told them was the meta. Youll never really be able to achieve a feeling of accomplishment and being ‘genuinely’ better, more capable than other players, feeling smarter for being able to more efficiently solve the problems games were giving you is something gone to the ages forever.

after diablo2 the animations started to cover up the heroes and enemies and D4 is just pixel mud in a monochrome randomly generated wasteland… it’s meh. So much meh.

D3 was my first diablo game but while at the time I picked it up because of the similarities to wow with the art design of the game, I think the wow aesthetic didn’t age well with me after being introduced to d2 and d4.

Extremely surface level comparison, these are games centered heavily on endgame, which is the main difference between them. If the idea was to compare at a pretty casual level (say, for 1 run of 10 hours) then I get it, but that’s not what people really want from a diablo game.

Bro i downloaded diablo 2 on my phone via emulator , and was wondering why it looked better than i remember (and why the lighting was so immersive) i didn’t realise i was playing the resurrected version 😂

I started with Diablo 2 in 2000, then Diablo 3 in 2020, then Diablo 2 Resurrected in 2023, then Diablo 4 in 2024. Don’t think I will ever get around to play Diablo 1.

Great video summarizing my favorite game franchise ever, beating the Witcher trilogy by only a hair. I started with D2 I think, only watched my older brother play D1 back then, when I first saw him play D2 it was in my opinion less scary than D1. Then when I bought my 1st PC after I graduated college, I played D2 again(after playing it in random internet cafes during high school, then again in college when LAN events were still a thing) then D1. D2 would be my favorite then D1, and I especially loved D2 Resurrected, the graphics update was top notch IMO.

I haven’t played 4 yet, and despite the backlash I played D3 and Immortal. I just finished Immortal yesterday in fact, after 2 years of intermittent playing. D3 was okay and Immortal was a chore for me to finish, but it had great moments. I dislike how very quick it was for me to level up in Immortal and drops or prizes were handed out to me like candy. I will buy D4 this december hopefully when the discounts take effect!

Its easy, diablo 1 was unique, then blizzard got greedy, let a bunch of essential creatives go and that fed up. Then diablo 2 came, it was good until blizzard got greedy, your CD just broke after 6 months of permanent playing and you had to buy new CDs two times a year, they also messed up the patches and now it is only alive due to the community support. Diablo 3….not much tosay about Diablo 3. Diablo 4 blizzards attempt to bring micro transdactions and ruin the playerbase after only one week, never to return to diablo 2 glory ever again.

That was so nostalgic, THANKS. I played Diablo 1,2 and now 4. It really brings to life how technology has improved. Diablo 4 has amazing graphics, cinematic and game play, great job. ALLOT of work went into this.

I’m a 43 yo kid, and I used to play the first Diablo online… I had a clan on it and lived one of my best gaming moments of life before the coming of mmo’s (ultima online, dark age of camelot and WoW). Played all Diablos by now and this video is really well done. Good job!

I start in D1 on ps1, than buy d1 for PC then go to battle net and make a lot of friends and lern how to pvp. PVP in D1 was best PVP in entire series. now in 2024 i start to play d1 on the hell 2 mod. D2 was new jurney, i back to d2, pvp was not as good as in d1 but players made some rules that makes all class with all build worth to play pvp. D3 makes me fall asleep whiel making 100+ rift, pvp was bad. trading items almost unable, but you can play hc and makes ranks. And D4 sadly there is no point to play after you finish the story. PVP is same bad as in D3 skills are bad.

Almost got banned at home because of the fact that there’s a Demon name on the game and parents is religious as hell 😂

Looting endless worthless items is so much better than charms. 😒 Diablo for PsOne was my 1st.

I was a Sophomore Engineering student when D1 came out. Loved it! Standing in the doorway of a room full of what ever while they died at the end of my sword or arrow, loot and items piling up on the floor was the best! The down side? This game single handily reduced the number of engineering students by about 10% due to its addictive nature. Cocaine has a less negative impact. As a 46 yo I’m taking a strong look at 4. Played 3, but while “better” was not the same as the original. Never played 3.

Honestly I wish people would stop comparing diablo games. One is no better or worse than the other, they are their own games in their own respect; different builds, different classes and different playstyles. The one thing that stays fluent is the lore and story progression itself. EVERY diablo game is its own game. In my opinion they are all good, “in their own way.” There is something for everyone in every game, if you don’t like one over the other then go play the one you like the most.

Diablo 2 was the best arpg ever! I remeber playing with crazy lag on the crappiest entry level pentium 1 in the universe. Those were the days.

Diablo 1 and 2 was cool because all classes could use all equipment.

I had to double check that Diablo 2 only came out 3 years afterwards, I remember there being a huge wait between the two and being frustrated by the constant release date setbacks, haha.

You are supposed to use your ears to hear the loot drops in diablo 1. So you know if you need to search + you can zoom. But yeah, searching for that one Ring for 5+ minutes is a thing 😀

Great video! I started with D2LOD and I’ve played it more than any other Diablo game. I think D4 is bad down to it’s basic design. It doesn’t feel darker when everything is flashing and emitting text. You can turn off a lot of that, and it feels kinda lifeless. The colors of the enemies and attacks don’t pop off of the ground in the dungeons. The gear doesn’t feel complex because everything revolves around gambling gold and craft items and obols and whatever else. It’s not actually crafting imo. And to put a battlepass into a game that is built around seasonal progression, and a cosmetic shop when getting progressively cooler gear is also the point.
I’m playing D2R until POE2 comes out.

D4 looks amazing to me with one huge problem – the plot. Lilith and Inarius have always been a great couple of 2 brave and wise beings who were tired of war and stood up against Heaven and Hell all alone and created the new world where they and their children could live in peace. They were one of my favourite couples in videogames history. Even Boss and Naked Snake (sorry, Kojima-san) weren’t so awesome compared to them. But D4 writers turned this two amazing beings into b*tches. Inarius is a whining one unable to take responsibility, Lilith is an insideous one, plotting some crap from the start instead of peace etc. 😭😭😭

From D1 to D2 in 3 years they have done to much from that point you understand the involvement and hard work input. D3 was a new IP that’s why was so famous, but 3 years later numbers started to drop cause give player the feeling playing wow with that graphic engine. D4 felt play D3 with skins like D2 resurected sort-off, in-game content some new and some the same a lot of aspects copyed and paste from D3. D4 said back from old roots I don’t think so, is not even close what they achieved and work input in D2.. so my fair conclusion .. Diablo francize has gone money grabbing since immortal and they try to do so with other janras.

Diablo 1 comes at first place, and the second gets the second place UNTIL throne of baal, a horrible expansion that started the death of this game serie.. the farming, the seasons, the events.. diablo was a perfect single player game, and as with all single player games they suck when played multiplayer. Every game in the world should just go single player.
