I am a Sci-Fi Geek and love SF however, Bethesda is only presenting good window dressing – now when I get missions from the General, or a Bounty, or Freestar, etc., I’ll be able to drive to the SAME old copy and paste facilities that I can run through blindfolded to kill the SAME guy for creds in every mission – Love the game – BUT – Give us some new exciting content and places! There are MORE unique places in one city on one devastated planet in FO4 than I can find in the entire SF Galaxy! Stealing ships – the only other thing most say “exciting” is okay but getting boring too! I say other thing because now they’ll all talk about “driving” but eventually that will get old too – I’d like more unique missions and unique places! Just my thoughts!

The vehicle is rough… I tried it out (I only launch Starfield to try updates) and.. it is really poorly implemented and hard to use effectively as the enviroments clearly weren’t designed to accommodate using a rover to travel; it gets stuck on rocks and trees often and isn’t responsive.

A seminar about the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s forced organ harvesting crimes was held at the Tianmen Gallery in Paris, France on October 21, 2023.

David Matas, a renowned human rights lawyer from Canada, shared his decades of investigation into this ongoing horrific crime that has Falun Gong practitioners as the major victims. He said that fighting for human rights is the responsibility that everyone should try their best to take on.

Back in March 2006, a Chinese woman, Annie (alias), published a statement in Washington D.C. She said that her ex-husband, a surgeon at the Sujiatun Hospital in Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, had disclosed to her that he had removed cornea from 2,000 living Falun Gong practitioners between 2002 and 2005. Other doctors in the hospital also removed other organs from more practitioners. These victims were killed in the process and their bodies were cremated to destroy the evidence. The organs were sold to wealthy Chinese or foreigners who were in China for transplant tourism.

A non-government organization in Canada contacted David Matas and the late David Kilgour, former Secretary of State for Asia Pacific, inviting them to conduct an independent investigation into this matter.

After months of investigation, they published a 140-page report in July 2006, which drew “the regrettable conclusion that the allegations are true.” They also found that the atrocity didn’t only take place in the hospital Annie’s ex-husband worked for, but in many other hospitals across China

Not surprised. Bethesda games take a while to really take off, and Starfield is no different. I didn’t get F4, back in the day, until about a year after it’s release, since I knew from experience that it won’t be ‘complete’ until about a 100 patches and bug fixes later.

So I’m keeping an eye on Starfield’s “maturation” process, and this is a promising step. Still not going to get the game (I’ll wait at least until Shattered Space comes out), but I’m keeping a good eye on it.

Basically my motto is – never buy a game at launch. Any game. That goes TRIPLE for Bethesda games. Wait at least a year.

Matas said, when they did the investigation, they looked for evidence that either supported the existence of the crime, or evidence that indicated the crime wasn’t happening. Every piece of evidence they found all pointed to the same conclusion – organ harvesting is happening.

In their investigation, they interviewed Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners who were held in various detention centers or prisons in China. They found that these Falun Gong practitioners went through extensive physical examinations, especially blood tests and tissue typing. This wasn’t for their health, as most of them were also subjected to savage beating and other torture. From their description, the examination was mostly likely used to build a database for organ matching. At the same time, the authorities only performed such examinations on Falun Gong practitioners, not any of the non-practitioners held in the same detention facilities.

One Falun Gong practitioner who was tortured in a Chinese prison and underwent involuntary blood test recounted the experience during the seminar.

While the real number of organ transplants is a state secret in China, just based on the limited numbers published by the CCP, it can be seen that organ transplant numbers significantly increased soon after the persecution of Falun Gong began. The CCP claimed that the organs came from donation, but China didn’t have an organ donation system and it’s also against the Chinese tradition to donate one’s organs after death.

As another piece of evidence, some investigators pretended to be patients and they called various hospitals, asking whether they had fresh Falun Gong organs available, as Falun Gong practitioners had very a healthy lifestyle, unlike other inmates who may be addicted to smoking or drugs. The answer they got from the doctors was, “Yes, we have these organs, just make an appointment and come.”

Some Chinese hospitals listed prices for various organs and one can make an appointment for the transplants of vital organs, including heart and liver.

In China, there was a law that gives hospitals permission to extract organs from death row prisoners without their or their family’s consent. This furthers greenlights the organ harvesting crimes, which has evolved into a massive, lucrative industry.

The CCP never admitted that they harvested organs from living Falun Gong practitioners. They claimed that the organs came from donation of death row prisoners, who wanted to make up for their wrongdoings. But the number of death row prisoners was far less than the transplants.

In 2014, the investigation team conducted another round of research. They went to the websites and publications by 169 individual Chinese hospitals approved by the government to conduct transplants and collected data regarding transplant types performed, qualifications, revenue, potential patient demographics, bed counts, surgical and support personnel, transplant capacity and volume, research projects, relationships with other hospitals and related entities, funding, patents, and awards.

They estimated that the total transplants performed by these hospitals were between 60,000 and 100,000 every year, far more than the 10,000 transplants per year claimed by the CCP. And the numbers seemed to keep increasing over the years. If this is true, the numbers of Falun Gong practitioners being “executed” on operation tables could add up to millions.

Matas said, “What I can tell you is that everyone who has read these books (of our investigation) and done their own research has, without exception, come to the same conclusion that we have. As the China Tribunal has said, this is undoubtedly sensible and this is real.”

He added: “Because I am Jewish and I am very familiar with the Holocaust, I am not shocked by the extraordinary symptoms of violence. I see it. I know it is possible. I am disappointed and I see it happening.”

When a ship takes off, in the animation, you see the landing gear retract and the landing thrusters stay lit. Is it possible between the ground and space, to eventually insert a flight mode that would allow slow low level surface flight using the landing thrusters, maneuvering thrusters, and engines to move about? I understand the surface “pad” that gets made when you land, and the shifting of the map as you move on foot, and the “wall”, a little bit. And I’m not talking about planet circumnavigation, yet. It wouldn’t be flight as in creating lift over wings at speed, but flight as in the ship being held up by landing gear lift. It would just stay lit and adjust to gravity/atmosphere. I’m asking this because the buggy flirts with this idea. If you replace it with the player’s ship, pop it to about 1000ft AGL, and keep the landing thrusters lit? Just curious? 😏 Catch a smile out there. o7

Cheeky to only release ONE model of a vehicle where your main player base live in a first world where there is choice. So you release this epic space sim and leave your space cowboy to walk on 1k plus planets, and after you realize how silly that seems you rush out a single model for a vehicle to travel. Again: faster than light travel technology but you have us walking? You want me to send you pictures of my current shoes im wearing, since i walk everywhere, locally for a year, on the same planet? And now I can only have ONE and only ONE type of vehicle??? This is mind blowing to me that people over look that. It’s an open and obvious flaw that is difficult for me to over look. I was looking forward to play this game but considering the time investment I have to commit, I must choose carefully. This flaw will is the biggest one, to not have proper vehicle accommodation in a future setting. That’s what made Halo CE so edgy, was the warthog you got get delivered on the second level! Interesting and all, but with this patch I seem to be getting issues with the activate button not working at all so you can’t really do anything. If that isn’t bad enough, I seem to be getting CTD’s as well suddenly.

I’m honestly impressed they got vehicles to work in a 20+ year old engine.

Right after the new update for the vehicle, etc., I had random textures change on things like my helmet, pack and so on…but the major one was that half the NPCs were walking around missing most of thier upper torsos.

Too little too late, I’ll never reinstall this game. I want my $70 back. Until you’re offering refunds I don’t wanna hear it.

I haven’t been on in like 4 months, had it downloaded though and saw an 18 something gigabyte update yesterday and I was like the fuck?… Hopped on my modded save which was now unusable but who gives a shit really lol so started a new game and was blown away, mind instantly went to tenting my hands and going excellent.

I highly doubt its going to be anything like this trailer.

Finally. A lot of people were saying a decent land vehicle was impossible in their software …. let me point out that it has been almost a year since it came out and it was probably one of the top 3 requested features …. they had to put a lot of work into it to make it work. Now that they have got one working, modders should be able to start making their own vehicle designs.

I mostly enjoyed the game, overall, though I agree it needs more locations, or more variations in the existing locations such as different loot possibilities. Also, they need more options for companions who are not so uptight about piracy and evil playthroughs for those who like to play that way. If you choose to be a space pirate, every single main NPC will get pissed off and leave your party, and the hirable NPCs don’t have the good stats that they do.

The religious liberty and human rights magazine Bitter Winter published an article on October 4, 2023, titled “NGOs at the UN Against Organ Harvesting, While Falun Gong Asks Italy to Save Lives.”

Authored by Marco Respinti, the article reported that two ECOSOC-accredited NGOs published a joint statement at the 54th session of the UN Human Rights Council between September 11 and October 13, 2023, condemning the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s organ harvesting crimes targeting Falun Gong practitioners.

According to the report, the statement by the two NGOs, the Coordination des Associations et des Particuliers pour la Liberté de Conscience (CAP-LC) and the Romanian Independent Society of Human Rights (RISHR), were supported by a wealth of other organizations, including Alianza Iberoamérica Europea Contra el Comunismo (AIECC), China Watch UK, Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting (DAFOH), Forum for Religious Freedom Europe (FOREF), the Gerard Noodt Foundation for Freedom of Religion or Belief, the International Society for Human Rights and its branch in Sweden, the International Council for Diplomacy and Dialogue (ICDD), the Korean Association for Ethical Organ Transplants (KAEOT), NPO Transplant Tourism Research Association, the Taiwan Association for International Care of Organ Transplants (TAICOT), and the Rotary Satellite Club of Ending Forced Organ Harvesting.

The statement was drafted based on reports by three leading investigators on the forced organ harvesting crime, including David Kilgour (1941–2022), David Matas and Ethan Gutmann, as well as the final judgement of the “China Tribunal.”

According to Bitter Winter, the statement raised several requests to the UN and its associated agencies, including 1) “call upon the WHO [World Health Organization] that the One Health agenda has to include a verification of the end to forced organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners in China”; 2) “call upon the UN Secretary General to initiate a fact-finding mission of forced organ harvesting in China via independent, international, unannounced inspections”; and 3) “call upon the UN Secretary General to inform all 193 member states of the United Nations about China’s persecution of Falun Gong and its unethical forced organ harvesting practice.”

As this year marks the 75th anniversary of the United Nation’s Universal Declaration of Human Rights and China is a member of the UN Human Rights Council, it should “immediately abide by the guiding principles of the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and end the practice of forced organ harvesting of Falun Gong practitioners and any other prisoners of conscience,” said the statement.

The statement noted that several countries, including Israel, Canada, and the United States, “have initiated or passed legally binding legislations that aim to stop or prevent forced organ harvesting of prisoners in China.” Two examples were the House Resolution 343 passed by the U.S. Congress in 2016 and Written Declaration 48 by the European Parliament also in 2016. Also cited in the statement were the more than 3 million signatures collected by Doctors Against Forced Organ Harvesting in over 50 countries and a statement by 12 Special Rapporteurs to the UN in 2021.

The statement also said that the CCP’s decades of “state-sanctioned, forced organ harvesting of living people” should be indicted as “crimes against humanity,” making “the persecution of Falun Gong by the Chinese government […] one of the most investigated, yet largely ignored persecution of a spiritual-religious group in the 21st century.”

In addition to the joint-statement, a third NGO, Global Human Rights Defence (GHRD), submitted a separate statement to the UN Human Rights Council on May 26, 2023, according to Bitter Winter.

The GHRD statement said, “Too often, the government of the PRC has eluded questions and mocked reports as being mere fantasy. Unfortunately, these reports reflect reality. It is urgent that independent, bipartisan, non-confessional, and non-political investigations are carried out in the PRC to establish the truth. Official statistics produced by the PRC have been questioned by experts many times; it is time to discuss them openly and publicly with international experts. Numbers must be verified, practices must be verified, criminals must be indicted. Forced organ harvesting is a disgrace that the world must not overlook any longer.”

The Bitter Winter article also gave an example of the stories of two Falun Gong practitioners, Ms. Ma Xiuyun and Mr. Tang Pingshun, parents of another Falun Gong practitioner currently residing in Italy.

On August 15, 2023, Katerina Angelakopoulou, President of the Italian Falun Dafa Association, wrote to the head of the Italian government and several ministers. She pleaded: “We turn to you asking for your support toward their release, conveying to the Chinese authorities the respect Italy has for human rights and asking them to stop the persecution of Falun Gong practitioners, a crime against humanity that cannot be accepted by any democratic country like ours.”

Now, 17 years after the forced organ harvesting was first reported, the crime is still going on in China. While Falun Gong practitioners remain the main target, this practice has been extended to other groups such as Tibetans and Uyghurs. “While the reality of organ predation in the PRC gains growing attention on different media outlets, the victims of these monstrosity are not theoretical. They are real people in flesh and blood.” wrote the Bitter Winter report.
