Starfield got hate because the gameplay and story was boring. Just like every Bethesda game, the modding community fixed the problems and made the game playable.

I genuinely think that bethesda dropped the ball in many aspects and they succeeded in other aspects in terms of what appeals to me in a bethesda game. When I played for the 6 hours I was willing to give it and the later gameplay I watched others get into the feeling behind its direction was very felt in the studio losing their way. The thing that makes a bethesda game good in the first place is that they made you want to play their games without the knowledge of mods. I’ve played and had gotten invested in games such as Elder scrolls and fallout. I was hooked based on aesthetic, writing, and gameplay. The base content essentially. Starfield shouldn’t need mods to be interesting and fun. And thats why it was so controversially recieved amongst the community because my sentiments with the game wasn’t the only one felt. The games gorgeous and it did have alot of potential but it is by far the weakest bethesda game.

The color in your video is a lot better than I’m seeing, and I’m using a 45 inch OLED monitor with a 4090. Weird. ed – I imagine that’s due to the mod.. cool stuff.

Starfield is awful and deserves all the hate it gets. Everything that made Bethesda games great is stripped away. No NPC’s with daily routines, an excessive amount essential NPC’s, exploration of a completely hand crafted world with thoughtful environmental storytelling replaced with lifeless procedurally generated worlds, the most bland writing they’ve ever done. I could go on for days on why this game isn’t even a shadow of what Bethesda once uses to make.

The biggest question I’ve always had about this game is, why did BETHESDA GAME STUIDIOS of all the game studios out there make space game with no playable ALIEN RACES all with their own lore? What an unbelievably missed opportunity.

The game is fine besides the no in atmosphere ship flight and door load screens.

Starfield feels so empty man. And not in a fun way, like u live some of the ideas but I’d rather play cyberpunk than starfield at this point. I really wanted to live starfield but when phantom liberty came out it highlighted the problems with starfield. Fallout 4 doesn’t suffer from the same problems as starfield to the same extent, if anything it works perfectly fine in fallout. The loot and gameplay works perfect for fallout but sucks in starfield bc it relies heavily on getting new weapons which forced u to explore the same copy paste locations. In cyberpunk and fallout u could upgrade ur weapons, they went about it in different ways but it works in both. I don’t think mods can carry this game when it’s underwhelming in almost every way. The big stuff that happens in lore already happened and then the intro makes no sense. There’s so little hand crafted content compared to the generated content it feels soulless. Mods aren’t gonna change the underwhelming feeling of the game. The reason fallout 4 and Skyrim mods are so massive is bc the base game is already good but elevated by mods. Starfield criticism is justified but too many people act like it’s pure shit when it’s not. It’s just the most mediocre modern Bethesda game ever.

Starfield is great…just install 200 mods. Oblivion, Fallout, Skyrim are good vanilla as well as modded. Space sims are my thing, this would’ve been my fav game from Bethesda but they over promised and delivered the most mid game ever. Wish I were wrong. And if anyone here is actually enjoying it and having fun, that’s great! I wish I could do the same.

So how exactly is the need for a ton of gameplay-altering mods a sign of Starfield’s supposed greatness? Because what I really took away from this video was that Starfield is so “meh” that it needs to be modded into something else to really enjoy it, which doesn’t fit the video’s title at all.

I’m not the biggest Bethesda fan, but I’ve enjoyed a few of their games, so I I think I went into this with a rather neutral bias. I wanted to enjoy it, but my expectations were low. I gave it a fair shot and played it for over 50 hours before I couldn’t take anymore, and I had to conclude that Starfield is the worst AAA game I’ve ever played. Every part of it is dull, underwhelming, and clunky, from the tutorial to the exploration to even the menus. My biggest problem is that playing the game rarely felt fun. Quests were very simple, longwinded, and unsatisfying. Dialogue ranged from bland to annoying. There was no sense of immersion, everything in this universe feels completely artificial, and it all adds up to a bunch of busy work to grind through. It really was a shame because I can usually tell if I’m gonna love or hate a game within like 15 to 20 minutes, and this game took dozens of hours before it even made me feel anything.

I quit playing in Aug 2023 after 634 hrs of gameplay. I already had the delux edition that has the DLC added and just came back last night to play the Shattered Space..I ran into a glitch right off the first initial questline that showed the blue quest tracker floating in mid air when rescuing the hostages that took me over an hour to fix. You know a bug like that might be reasonable if you are playing it the first 24 hrs of it’s release but that damn thing has been out for months.. It’s also boring as hell so far and the NPC’s are not only long winded but fuckin ugly, and completely forgettable. I don’t even want to put myself through it. Andreja is my companion and my best girl and after playing through the base game over 20 times and having to listen to her talk about her home and world, her people I thought she would be talking up a storm but she has damn near nothing to say about anything..I wanted to see her reaction to making it home and pffttt…nothing. I gave this game more hope, time and patients than it will ever deserve..I’m just done.

Well this was 23 minutes wasted. No, when you compare Starfield to other modern sci-fi themed games like No Mans Sky, Elite, Star Citizen, Cyberpunk 2077, its just bad, especially for the asking price 70$. Not even mods will help much in this comparison.

I disagree is not great but isnt all that bad is just meh,is not like a spiderman, god of war,etc an exclusive that make people want to buy ur console.

I played it on release. I genuinely enjoyed it. Played about 150 hours then moved on. That’s pretty good going. I always knew I’d go back once a few DLCs have released and the mod scene is in full swing.

Man i just cant get back into Starfield. Even with the new updates and mods. I played the dlc and that was it. My immersion just gets so messed with from all the fast travel and very rare seamless towns and stuff.

Unfortunately now that no man’s sky has ship building starfield has nothing unique going for it in my opinion. The story wasn’t interesting enough for that to even keep me. Ship building was awesome. Easily the coolest part but it was undermined by the amount of loading screens that were involved with interacting with ships.

3:10 something like, “Mods are making Starfield better in 2025,” might have been a better title. Bethesda doesn’t get credit for other people’s work.

i think they are red cause they are the CRIMSON fleet lol. but jokes aside i agree, if your cf you are red if you are ecliptic you are silver. i get the color scheme of what Bestheda was doing but variety is a little lacking in the color dept. besides “drip” is all that matters these days lol

It’s not *awful*… But the 1,000 planets of mostly nothing could really have been distilled down to something a little more manageable with higher quality experiences.

    • 2025年 2月 10日 9:55am

The game met most of my expectations at launch. Partially because I was looking at it more from a “modding sandbox” point of view, not “blockbuster story”. I play Bethesda games expecting weird bugs and such. Should they be fixed? Yes, but expecting a Bethesda game to not have any bugs is literally lying to yourself.

Starfield i weird to me because i can see the problems, i can feel them while playng… yet i keep coming back. Is fun, problematic but fun.

And i also LOVE the artstyle. Many players call it uninspired but i think that is a pretty realistic vision of how a human society would look after years in space. I like No Man’s Sky but is too cartoonish, it’s a cool space but is not OUR space.

Great video, man. I’m playing starfield vanilla on my first playthrough rn. I’ll check the mods after unity, I’m sure. I am also very much into the sandbox of the game and rp as a space cowboy. The serenity/firefly style of the survival mods appeals to me greatly. I want to find a crew, find a job, keep flying
