there are a few things about starfield that can be criticised, no gore, you can’t strip enemies of their gear except weapons, very limited arsenal of ships you can store, loading screens, lack of insentive to explore, money is almost useless, cause you can’t buy good weapons (pretty much like in fallout and skyrim, so bethesda economy), only loot good ones, unique weapons only having a different paint job, if at all, lack of cool spacesuits, space combat beeing unbalanced, stealth is as op as in skyrim. And even with all these flaws I could think of at the top of my head I still like starfield

Just over a year later starfield has become the most bug and crash infested experience I’ve ever had with a PC game.

Bethesda made one amazing experience: Morrowind. And then they rode their own coattails on that formula, dumbed it down to appeal to a wider audience and frankly from Oblivion over Skyrim and Fallout 3/4 to Starfield, they were severely overhyped. Starfield, being a new IP that couldn’t rake in dividends from nostalgia, finally showed that and made people realize that Bethesda ain’t THE Sh*t, they’re just sh*t.

Games with blood (and gore) are more likely to be immersive and satisfying. The only reason I can think of to not have any is if you’re trying to get a kid rating

Lego ships are realistic. Starborn powers are realistic. Enhance is realistic. Homely people where they can use enhance to change whatever they want for the price of lunch is realistic. Tiny cities are realistic. Being shot isn’t insta death is realistic. Respawning is realistic. Blood and gore from bulletin and grenade wounds isn’t realistic. Gotcha…

So, in space if your in a vacuum and you get shot well that creates a hole in you, and a hole in your suite which kind of turns you into a straw.
Starfield was a lot like space, it sucked and it was empty. It all looked the same. It was supposed to be procedurally generated. But it procedurally generated the exact same things over and over. Same random bases on planets. The only two quest lines i liked was the main quest line and the sheriffs questline. One of the main things that i didn’t like about it was nothing you did seemed to apply to the game other than you little circle of people. You become a sheriff and get the whole uniform and ship, well only the sherrif office and the people in the quest seem to know. The sheriffs in space think your a civilian as well as everyone else. Nothing you did seemed to make a difference. Don’t get me started on all the other broken stuff and the exploration mechanics of grinding scan data. Might as well be alphabetizing a library. Game was boring AF and felt empty. chance encounters were the same 3 combat encounters in space or the 9 random encounters with 1 special if you went ng+. Ng+ was boring af. Oh look a tiny empty ship that is shiny and a shiny space suit. did the ng+ 9 or 10 times. Exactly the same universe with exactly the same people. The ship building mechanics were reminiscent of building Lego space ships and the colony mechanics were just broken. On top of that, the patches to fix things in the beginning were just taken off of nexus without even a thank you. For a space game the focus was on planets. i don’t remember a single eva mission or even eva combat in space. I played space rangers longer and had more fun. Starfield had the feeling of we had a expert team of developers with a crap writer, then we decided to fire everyone except the writer and replace them with people that had little experience making games or even playing games other than call of duty. The only good portion of the game was the FPS part, but that was limited by the lack of variety in the enemy.

Next update: Bethesda adds doing taxes and filling out job applications for McDonald’s because that’s more realistic.

Shame that no modern game still has achieved the same amount of detail as Soldier of Fortune 2. It models exit wounds, difference between shotguns at close range and at distance, multiple different places you can shoot off, blood fountains that stain the wall, blood pools, etc.

Strange how it isn’t realistic in their eyes, the way weapons work in space becomes a lot more terrifying, a single bullet could lead to critical suit failure exposing you to all kinds of horrific factors such as intense radiation, toxins, or vacuum, the latter of which can potentially have the same effect as the Byford Dolphin incident at it’s worst… 😬

They didn’t remove it because “It didn’t add to the style,” they removed it because they wanted a lower rating to broaden the audience cause they know the game is garbage and they need every single dollar possible to recover their multimillion dollar investment

I read the article that this is sourced from and the reason they gave was that it would be too hard to create all the gore for all the different suits/packs and aliens for very little payoff.

They are lying, they didn’t remove anything, they never implemented it in the newer engine, just like they didn’t implement more advanced AI, named NPCs with schedules, daily schedules, and all these things that were MORE ADVANCED in a game from 14 years ago. The basic combat is laughably bad, as is their entire lack of any unique animations. They still used the same stock animation system, with all the same faults carried over, but less work out into iterating on anything new.

Starfield was just the result of lazy developers, who don’t know the engine they develop on – as well as the employees from 15 years ago did.

Whatever team developed the Space customization and ship system did great, but the story, AI and scripting is absolute dog water.

Something that “shocked” me when I played it is when you look down, you’re a floating ball with no feets.

Have you seen a modern gunshot wound? A high caliber bullet to the head? I have. And is not pretty. In the future I expect firearms will be even more deadlier but not. Futuristic weapons damage is not realistic. Imagine the water dog Fallout 5 will be. Good bye bughtesda.

Oh please that game was so half baked it didnt even have a map for the main city ,there wasnt gore in the game because they couldnt make it they could barely make trees

they had that fish factory with its fish guts and all that, if you picked the right quest, thats the closest you could get to gore, but if you fell off that city in the middle of an ocean planet the ocean was only about 3ft deep which would auto kill you if you went to far into it.

After more than a year, still pissed off with myself for pre-ordered it, haven’t even touch the DLC.

Have you seen their engine? They graphics? Their models and textures? If they say they removed it because it wasn’t realistic I believe them… I just think they mean the gore textures they created weren’t realistic enough…

Thinking about gore, how else am I gonna feel my legendary gun(or does high damage) was worth getting if the overkill of it doesn’t reflect that when shooting at anything? Reason why I go back to play 2077, BL2, or NV is the shock/surprise half the time whenever the enemies explode in a gory fashion and I see what’s still in one piece to loot.

Apparently bleeding isn’t realistic either. i don’t think i ever saw any blood even when people were being blasted with rifle rounds in bethesda’s god forsaken game.

Something I’ve noticed is that most M rated titles aren’t deserving. Fantasy violence, and barely a drop of blood. I’d rather just go back to Fallout 3 and use the bloody mess perk. Modern gaming is way too soft..

Bodies don’t explode into a thin red paste from small arms fire, and the fact people seem to think so demonstrates most people get their gun knowledge from video games, and Hollywood… It might have worked in Fallout, because everything in that game is meant to be somewhat over the top, but I can appreciate they were going for something more grounded and realistic with effects in Starfield…

Well, it is in line with a game that won’t let you look at your character’s butt (the camera slides up when you try). I remember back in Fallout 3, where I installed a mod to tone down gore a bit because in that game it did seem excessive. Not that I can’t look at gore but it was overdone.

I played Starfield for about 2 hours total and realized i just couldn’t get into it and went back to Cyberpunk 2077.

I dunno, I really don’t see a big issue here. I’m fine with or without gore in Starfield. Fallout 3 and 4 is another story, those games are built on profanity and gore.
