I think that if you design your game to feature violent gunplay, grenade explosions and such, as a primary mechanic of the whole experience, then things like blood and gore would just be a natural and expected part of it. Buy yeah, I find it probable that they cut it because it was just a lot of work…My two cents.
Yea it’s not like *any* of the Fallout games have helmets, layered armor and entire exoskeletons you can wear (w/ their own separate damage systems btw) and still manage to have gore. This excuse is just like everything else about Starfield. Disingenuous and half-assed. What a boring fail of not only a game but a whole concept. Next
biggest balled dropped in gaming history… Starfield continues to fail.
Don’t call it X
Starfield was the nail in Bethesdas coffin. Good luck getting another dime outta me nerds
I just find it hilarious that in all of Bethesda games having mutants or different humanoid species, Starfield is the only one that didn’t have it. Like ghouls or super mutants, and argonians and khajit. Just weird when they have a super sci-fi opportunity and they don’t do anything with it. Now that’s a topic. I want to talk more about with Bethesda developers
TES6 is going to be PEGI 6yo, DEI, family friendly, with inclusive and accesible dialogue people with no ears can understand and play.
Why was fun cut from the game?
That could’ve saved the game tbh. Fallout 4 can be creepy as hell sometimes
ES6 is DOA
Do we think they will ever make Starfield 2?
They’re just being very lazy about their own products removing features that were established in previous products. They also refuse to do layered armor/clothing because they’re too lazy to now and KCD2 along with Star Citizen of all things might be trying to do layered clothing.
I don’t find this a very compiling reason. Like yeah, I would have taken a lot of development time to make it work with all the different armors and clothing in the game, but then what did they spend that time on? Why was the game so feature lacking and buggy? It’s like they said, “we’re not going to spend all that time on the gore system,” but then didn’t spend that time on anything else either.
i’m gonna be honest i never even noticed, gore just isn’t a big seller for me. i don’t mind it i just don’t crave it either.
It contributed to the narrative if Starfield. Keep it boring and they were phenomenally successful.
I dislike Starfield a lot but definitely not adding gore was a good decision because it doesn’t fit it
Lazyfield
They tried to sanitize the game. Other games recently have done it also. It’s all apart of the sensitivity reader mindset. Sometimes, it’s not just about what’s put in but what’s not allowed to be put in. It destroys creativity and keeps games from being awesome. They end up bland, boring, or just alright.
They could of just been honest and said they couldn’t be fucked putting the effort in. 😂
I didn’t really notice it was missing as everyone’s sealed inside spacesuits. Aside from fighting my way off the SysDev ship i dont recall ever fighting someone not in a spacesuit.
To be fair, if the game had looked good in other ways, this would have actually been a positive for me–not actually a big fan of gore in Fallout, wish console players like myself had options to tone it down/remove it for ourselves, albeit not advocating it be cut for everyone since there is a tone/theming argument for it. (Although I’ll note the way it’s implemented is…not “realistic”. Less realistic than no gore at all, perhaps?)
THERE WAS NO GORE ON THE MOON?
i tihnk what they coudl with gore isint jstu bodyparts fluing, dontn eed to avhe a gears or turok level of advacned gore system, but in space and zero gravity ahve blood piss out woudl look neat, even have system if one kill a enemy in space as one puncture the siut see character iside freeze or turn to red paste insid ethe visor if tis a glass dome
Is this why Starfield also had no sexiness? No character? Devs spent time on making large game instead of game with character….
When BGS developed Skyrim they had 100 people in the studio working on development, Fallout 4 also had around 100 man strong dev team. Starfield had around 400 people across multiple studios working on its development, and still has roughly 250 people working on it post launch, which is about half of their total 450 member team.
I don’t see how the ‘technical limitations’ argument can be used when they have several times the man power at their disposal, yet produce something barely half as fun as the games they released over 10 years ago. At best, bureaucratic meddling and middle management can be blamed but I will not believe for a moment that they simply couldn’t implement gore or dismemberment because it would be too hard. or technically demanding.
Get rid of your HR gestapo Todd, and god help the next Elder Scrolls.
You buy some weird excuses…
Like that report that blamed Suicide Squad’s calls on inside team rotation and people leaving Rocksteady. And not once mentions the involvement of certain consulting group we know were factually credited inside and outside of the game. A Report that was objectivelly put out for the sole purpose of diverting the blame away from such groups.
I shot a guy wearing tons and tons of gear and backpacks. oh no, what do i (as the video game system) do? I know. I will unequip the armor and stuff that this man is wearing. There, now his arm (without armor on it) flies away. I think fallout 3 and new vegas does this sometimes. I have memories of bare dismembered legs and arms flying off of npc’s that were otherwise heavily armored. But i’m not a coder, im just a guy trying to search for fun
Its like an HR lady was sitting behind every dev for this game.
Just another reason why the game failed😂
Khorne has “blood for the blood god, skulls for the skull throne” do the other chaos gods have equivalent war cries?
“Realistic sci if like star trek or the expanse”
*Main story proceeds to introduce space Dragonborn and alternate universes*
“Scope and themes” Aka Todd didn’t want it.
Gods, I’m getting better at deciphering Todd speak.
So, they just didn’t want to put in the work and decided to leave the gore feature out completely? I feel like this was done with several features throughout development.
Hope microsoft takes away fallout and elderscrolls from bethesda qnd gives them to obsidian. There not worthy to make new games in there ips anymore.
Nah, it must be to carter the pegi 12 mark, the want to “expand” they’re audiences.
‘It would have been too time-consuming.’ Said about a game made by a 500 people development team… That’s a first-class declaration of total bankruptcy. Let go of all hope for ES6 and FO5.
The fact modders said its essentially impossible to put a gore mod in it bc of the design says a lot about how bethesda gave up on this half baked garbage
This was literally my biggest problems with starfield. It made combat so boring that I always talked my way out of stuff through speech. Even the last boss. I remember shooting a dude with a magnum from behind on the head and he just stiffened up and flopped down. I was like …..NO WAY 🤦♂️
So they got lazy…….
For the same reason the game didn’t ran at 60fps on consoles at launch, is Bethesda and they wanted modders to do it
That’s exactly the problem with starfield, they cared more about realism than having fun
Blood and gore bits floating away in zero g after you got a guy would have been essential if I made this game. What a missed opportunity.
Lol, less armor pieces than Skyrim or fallout and they say that…
it didnt contribute to that narrative, you contributed to it.
So essentially it’s because it was too much work for them and decided they didn’t feel like investing the time and work
In other words. . . It was too hard. lol
I forgot about Starfailed already
Starfield is bad, boring, has no vats, has no gore, the story is below mediocre. No wonder why no one plays it. To be honest, fallout 3 is superior in every possible way to starfield and this game came 2008 if I’m not mistaken. Oh, yes, fallout 3 has awesome gore, eyes, brain, teeth flying all around🤣
It should’ve at least had breakable helmets so you could suffocate enemies on planets with no oxygen.
Seems like a cop out. Arm and legs surely aren’t much different to fallout 4 characters. Backpacks just leave them as fixed to the torso and head I don’t see how that was a big deal either, every outfit has a none helmet version so at minimum you could just despawn the helemt and use the old head bits model anyway? Or if they could be bothered make damaged versions of each helmet.
Theres already a mod called “Gorefield” for Starfield. I like to think gore was a oversight in development but it would be satisfying to have in the base game.
Because they wanted into the Chinese market
“So much potential so many dissapointed” starfield in a nutshell.
I feel like the technical problems that would arise are the real reason and the vision part is to make it seem less lazy.
Starfield is what you get when you mix lazy developers with a game engine barely held together with scotch tape, my biggest disappointment of 2023.
“Fun is not consistent with the tone of the game, so we decided to take it out”
in short: they were too lazy
Starfield use to suck, it still does, but it used to too.
Starfield is to Luke as cocain is to scarface
I just hope TES VI has good 18+ elements instead of being super PG-13 like Starfield (which , funny enough is rated 18+ because of drug use). Give us gore like The Witcher 3. Have some nudity in the game. Make it immersive.
No, it’s because woke people are idealistic and want everything to be sunshine and kittens.
This game is very PG 13
Now tell me why STEAM says Starfield has “Some Nudity or Sexual Content”, because it has none, NONE. Which is fine, but why have the game flagged as having it.
They wanted a game where you can travel dimensions and use powers to be more realistic and left out the gore. Just say yall didnt have time because making shitty dlc packs and generating random ass planets with nothing on them was more important lol.
More importantly, why was space exploration cut from the game….All one does is fast travel to destinations with load screens.
2025 and bro is still farming starfield hate
How is no gore effects more realistic? Do people at Bethesda know what a human is?
