Bethesda Has Gotten EVEN WORSE

starfield 情報局

Bethesda has truly crossed a line with this. Starfield was already a fumble for the company in terms of player enjoyment and overall love from the community but this decision made by Bethesda is truly a crossed line for them and I am worried about the Elder Scrolls VI and Fallout 5 even more now

I guess my first thought is: who is still playing this dog crap? Second thought: evolution of horse armor. Bethesda has been creeping this way for decades, hoping the frog in the pot model will allow them to get away with it. Don’t buy new games or mods from them. Don’t support it via the pass system, either. There are better games and companies to invest in.

Achievements and mods are a sticky issue. You can get mods that let you get all achievements instantly in some games. They are not achievements then! BUT… charging for an achievement friendly tag or whatever is just a different horrible beast altogether.

Bethesda find themselves in the same boat with Starfield as Hello Games and CDPR were in for NMS and Cyberpunk. Hyped games with bad receptions on launch.

But HG and CDPR knuckled down and fixed their games over time to become successes, while Bethesda show no intention of doing the same.

What’s particularly frustrating is that Bethesda have a community made solution sat right in front of them. They could integrate the best mods from the creation club into a 2.0 update of the game and pay each modder a fair amount for their trouble, and it would still be a lot cheaper than the work HG and CDPR had to put in.

But Bethesda wont do that because they are the shortest sighted company in gaming right now.

The last mega hit they released was skyrim in 2011. that is over 13 years ago. Most of the team that worked on the game is gone, and they released the creation club since then as well. Their last 2 games were mid at best (and down right broken on launch with FO76). Their response to starfield steam reviews was downright desperate. Their last DLC charged as much as phatom liberty but delivered about 1/6th of the content. I will stop now, but can go on for a solid page or 2 yet.

Temper your expectations for Elder scrolls 6. Their glory days are behind them at this point.

Dogshit game from a now dogshit company doing scummy things? WOW SHOCKING. Bethesda has been having issues since skyrim but people sucked them off nonstop and they got egos. Also the modders make money and thats fine but bethesda takes like 75% i think, its ridiculous

You don’t need achievements. Games, a very long time ago didn’t need achievements, you played the game, made progress, won or died and did it again because the gameplay was fun to do… just grinding achievements to ‘platinum’ a boring game, or paying through the nose to have a list of chores (which often spoil the plot/surprises) is wack.

    • @dumitrescucostin2684
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

I’m convinced that anybody who isn’t fed up with the same old outdated creation engine “RPG” from Bethesda has simply never played one by another dev.
Cyberpunk was a buggy mess at launch but you can’t tell me it feelt like the same old shit from 2011 like everything Bethesda does.
I’m sick of playing “Oblivion” and “Oblivion with guns” and now “Oblivion with guns in space”

    • @MarkoBotsaris
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

I always thought it was so weird and clueless that Skyrim got such a long shelf life by modders, amongst other thing, fixing their stuff. Instead of stepping back and being astounded and grateful how much more money Bethesda made over the long haul because of the modders’ unpaid efforts they tried to capitalize the mods themselves. If you want to mark a specific point where they began to decline that would be as good a point as any. Any loyalty that I might have had died a long time ago. Monetize THAT Bethesda!

    • @adultgimb
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

and people are trying to say the rumored oblivion remaster or remake will be better than skyblivion if bethesda is doing this crap then imagine what they are going to do with one of their new game i wouldn’t be surprised that they would not have free mod support all together or even worse will pull a activision and send a dmca the day the mod releases even though they gave their blessing just in fear of losing money and that skyblivion would hurt the sales of it i tell you now if they were to take down skyblivion over that they would never get another cent out of me period and i would say anyone who is reading this should too show them that their business practices actually gets them less money than more

Of course developers can’t make mods for everything imaginable in a game, and it WAS amusing that Bethesda has moders fixing Bethesda’s game bugs 👾❌ but yeah, Bethesda monetizing on moders by forcing paid mods shows a UUGE lack of creativity and a BIGLY corpo greed mentality 🤑

What got me was they were only releasing access to Creation Kit documentation to those in the Verified Creators program, this made actually using the ck and it’s new features a bigger headache than it needed to be (I got tips and stuff from other mod authors but it’s so much easier to have the actual documentation), I figure I’ll wait until this changes to mod it again (but I have been having too much fun in other games to drag myself back to be honest).

I enjoyed Starfield for about 60-70 hours, I really liked the ship builder as well but I have left Starfield behind and do not plan to revisit it. Unlike Skyrim Starfield has a very limited shelf life and I do not think this can change based on the core game mechanics. So yes it was good but not worth a replay imo and I don’t really care about mods for it like I do with Skyrim

I once had a modder tell me I have no right to criticize the paid Creations system because I didn’t mod to the extent they did. They strawmanned me by saying I just didn’t want modders to get paid for their hard work. The problem isn’t in that, it’s the exploitation and greed of the Creations system itself. And any “verified” mod author, only contributes to the problem by going through the Creations system to get their pay.

I don’t support this kind of grift, but I would point out that it’s been only recently that console players were able to use most mods at all. This has always been one of the tradeoffs of playing beth games on console.

That said, this is penny wise and pound foolish on Beth’s part.

    A bit of history MJ.
The most modded game in the history of gaming is Skyrim (70K + in Nexus)
Todd, the good lier Todd, saw, log ago that, and wnated to cash it (Thus Creation Club), but did not work
So, Todd The Liar, bet all the eggs in the basket and made a whole new game, a really unfinished game for the modders to finish, StarField. (And of course, to cash it, hence your video)

    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

1:08 I would like to take a moment to point out that Achievements are just a weird industrial psychology hack to boost your dopamine doing otherwise boring fetch quests in games etc. People put WAY too much importance on Achievements Popups, you can still do all the same things in a game and play it 100% without an achievement popup, all you have to do is …. form memories about the fun you’ve had playing the game.
Achievements are a digital vanity sticker, and gaming would be healthier without it.

Im a PC user and a single person player at that, so I could give a flying fcuk about achievement’s. But yes this is the thin end of the wedge, Bethesda have been sh1t for years at this point, relying on modders to fix thier supposedly AA/AAA titles after the fact. I may still buy SF, but only when its dirt cheap and there are some mods to fix ‘most’ of the broken shit on nexusmods.

    • @matthewwebster3143
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

What Bethesda has learned is that they can make a shit game and modders will fix it and they do it under the guise of “paying modders” so if they ever get call out they can say “look how much we do for the community” when in reality they are fucking everyone over.

    • @Thunder_Light207

    • @derBenIsPlaying
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

If Bethesda would always hire the unofficial patch makers and pay them a revenue, their games would be completely playable and bug free so quickly.

I also wonder, whats the payout. Does the mod maker get money? Surely they must. How much? Is Bethesda taking the majority of the money? Or the modder who made the content.

The mods are whack too. Fallout universe has nothing to do at all with the normal world, its an entirely different timeline. It’s even branching off from our real timeline, like a early 1980s movie that predicted we will be flying cars in 2015 and we have hoverboards, our reality is pushing the fiction even further into fiction because the closer we get to the timelines, the more obvious it becomes. Hoverboard by 2015? Maybe by the year 5115!

The M249 mod makes at least some sense – as the “old earth squad automatic weapon”, but even then – Bethesdas balancing for auto weapons means Automatic = damage of each bullet reduced by 80%. The Advanced Jaeger has about 90 damage, thats quite a lot. It has about double the damage of a “Advanced AA-99”, and about 20% more firing rate. It also has larger mags… i seen someone have 400 bullets in it, and someone had 9999 bullets in the “magazine”, idk which numbers are accurate, but any ammo count that is larger than the AA-99 is op with this weapon. You are downloading a CHEAT.

I’m waiting for the “Skyrim in Starfield” crossover that adds Nirn with its 2 moons to the universe so people can go full crazy and play Skyrim Fallout and Starfield all in one.

    • @Xpl0rerX
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

Can’t remember the year but they tried this before with paid mods for fallout 4 and the modding community rejected it. The gamers won that one the only answer is to boycott. The funny part is I’ve seen videos where Todd said he was truly blessed to be where he’s at. What a hypocrite.

    • @Guns_N_Gl0ryh0les
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

I won’t lie. When paid mods were announced I was all for it. Why wouldn’t I be happy for talented modders to get paid for their work, and i was annoyed people were against it. What I didn’t realise is when they would come around. Most of them would be shitty, uninspired and downright scams for them. Yes some of them are cool, but definitely not money worthy. I thought the paid mods would be mods that are very good, high quality and a lot of effort into them. I though bethesda would have a process for paid mods to be quality checked and played to see if they are worth that amount of money, it’s honestly baffling that most paid mods are literally stat changes, asset flips and stupid stuff like that. I was expecting the fact that there would be paid mods would incentivise the best modders to make outstanding mods worthy of being paid. But it turns out I was wrong, and bethesda is completely greedy, and most paid mods are quick buck makers and nothing more.

To be fair, Bethesda’s incompetence is at play here. But I agree this needs to stop. Which I happily do by not buying new Bethesda product. My last purchase was Fallout 4 and it’s DLCs. Iv always been against paid mods. Creations is paid mods. I have worked on BGS mods since 2017, there’s no difference in a mod and a creation. Also I have watched as skilled modders have quit working on mods they enjoy for free and now only work for other people for money. BGS needs to end all forms of paid mods and update their policies to prohibit people from paying others for help on their mods. Also the constant updates due to creations constantly breaks mods. BGS fell off the cliff with FO4 and are now close to rock bottom.

    • @JingleJabringle
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

IDK this feels like a really limited angle. I personally don’t hate paying for *some* mods. Like with any product, I’ll just use my own discretion to determine if its worth it. I’ve played some great mod projects and I think the blind hatred for paid mods hurts some of the really talented teams and individuals working on the mods. I’ll probably avoid anything like skins, but a voice acted and fun questline or a well modeled and expandable weapon system? Whats so bad about being able to toss the creators a few bucks? Apparently being achievement friendly just means you go through the verified creators program which gets your mod approved. I’d imagine they just make sure its not a blatant exploit. With that in mind, imagine the overhead of going through every single community mod and vetting them for achievements? (theres a reason Larian just blanket disables achievements) Free mods can be pumped out like candy – while a big AAA studio, Bethesda is still a business with people and bills to pay. I also disagree with the sentiment that BGS is letting modders do their work. BGS’s job was to well.. create the entire rest of the game. I get that everyone didn’t like starfield and there are many reasons for that. One being that its not really your typical theme park BGS epic adventure to save the world/you are the chosen one type deal(there is some of that if you want it). Its a much slower paced and chill game that I enjoy relaxing with after work. After taking time to learn the game’s systems, I’ve been enjoying it a ton. I’ve tried out a couple paid creations and so far I’ve been very happy. Why is it evil?

I just tried to suggest making lore friendly mods achievement friendly instead of every paid mod in the official Starfield suggestions channel in the Bethesda discord, it got taken down in less than a second. • @macronomicus
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:55pm

Less than 2% of mods on creations are paid. Achievements are not leverage, If someone even cares about it, they just play 1st playthru without mods if on console. Expecting Beth to inspect every mod to comply with xbox achievement rules is a cost nobody would consider, verified creators get QC & handling by staff, and are thus officially inspected, which costs money for staff to tend to it.

I didnt care, i couldn’t summon enough give a shit to mod skyrim. I could find the desire to play skyrim even with the best mod list load orders i could find. By 100% the game and listening to the pod cast the scales dropped. It was thr mods that kept me from seeing the shitty spell verity, the meaningless perk system, crap combat, and most of all the shitty quest and level design.

If you care so much about achievements, keep in mind if these were free of the mods you mentioned that were free, someone could easily make an achievement friendly mod that can unlock all achievements instantly or a mod that could do that very quickly. That is why mods probably have to be charged for to get the tags. Also its to prevent people from earning them too quickly on the Xbox Platform most likely for free.

    • @BionicleJackson
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:56pm

8 years ago when Bethesda started implementing this bs I was shut down by fan boys and those to ignorant to see the implications of “creations”. Just as they couldn’t see any downside to Microsoft acquiring ZeniMax in 2021, Xbox in 2022, or Activision in 2023. Well fan boys, stop your whining. You got EXACTLY what you wanted. Crappier games at inflated prices devoid of meaningful content or gameplay.

The Creation Club was but a concept business plan put in place by Bethesda to show the profitability of the company in 2017. It wasn’t initially accepted by the masses, but consumers are quick to forget. After a couple of tweaks and a couple of years, the concept was profitable, the company was sold for a lucrative price, and the current decline of the industry was set.

Now those same fan boys berate games like Starfield, but those same people are the cause of such creatively devoid games. It’s the acceptance of the business model in Skyrim and Fallout that sealed the fate of the industry. The acceptance of “seasonal passes” in the Diablo franchise, nothing but an acceptance of pay to play profit strategies for investors to help you spend your money.

Eventually, when all the talent has left the industry and the price cap exceeds what people are willing to pay for crap content, investors will pull out. Big business gaming will die out and indie games will be what’s left. Better content on much smaller budgets and scale… Then the whole thing will play out again. It’s what humanity calls progress.

Starfield is already such a garbage game anyway, I am not sure why anyone would even spend money on it. I deeply regret buying my copy and yes I did take the time to complete the game just because I paid for it, I might as well get my money’s worth. But it was such a tremendous let down. bethesda could have been great, if they had just been content with the success of skyrim, but they are a public corp so they have to behave like absolute goblins and try to milk the community even more with these paid mods even at the expense of the future of the company.

they went from beloved with guaranteed sales to one of the most hated because instead of taking care of the dairy cow they ripped the udders off and threw it into a juicer.

I dont support bethesdas recent marketing BUT this is like whineing about C.O.D. expecting to get something done about it lol i cant wrap my mind about complaining and whineing instead of just finding a game that makes you happy.

how is the modding scene for this game doing this time since the creation kits release vs their older games? Has the paid mod market place killed its trajectory vs the older games at this point in their life cycle? I’m curious if the presence of creations has kneecapped that community from growing

I like calling Todd “Toddicus Vile” the Daedric Prince of Bargains & Schemes. He even looks like Clavicus in Redguard, well a little.

    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:56pm

I have to say the devs on 76 are trying but they’re working with garbage. I can tell they are really trying. The community will wait if they focus on stabilizing it. It will take us time to farm all the mods we need for the different sets of armor you need for raids. They added the legacy effects again and I appreciate that. I’m just waiting for another exolosive mod to put on my legacy flamers. Bows are nice because you can have exclusive or fire, cryo or plasma damage.

However they keep screwing up too. But I give them credit for trying.

And this right here is why I won’t buy anymore Bethesda games because they will never learn not till they have lost all their money.
It’s paid grayslop from now on from Bethesda which is really disappointing.
The part I am mad about is I know this is just the start of them making it where ONLY paid mods can be used and I am sure they will pay off nexus to do it for their games.

    • @RHaenJarr
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:56pm

Why do people care about achievements anyway? I never cared about them. If you need a carrot on a stick to keep playing a game because you can’t enjoy it otherwise, maybe just stop playing and do something valuable instead.

    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:56pm

Well….this relationship betweem Bethesda and modders used to be THE coolest and chillest thing ever, thousands of mods and Bethesda loved it, no harm done.

THIS….is the most toxic relationship ive ever seen between modders and a developer, they are feeding off of creativity of others who love their games, and keep it alive.

At one point, this has to stop…why not now. Im REALLY close to blacklisting Bethesda along with Activision, Ubisoft and EA, havent played their games for years, removed the launchers too.

I use a mod called “Achievements Mods Enabler SE-AE” for my (PC) Skyrim game. So the game ignores my mods entirely.

Completed Starfield twice and didn’t complete Shattered Space. Thought yesterday that I may uninstall it soon.

    • @mikeloeven
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:56pm

This only effects people who rely exclusively on creations. Nexus already has a mod that just bypasses all the checks and forcibly re enables achievements and its been around since the beginning. No one serious about modding there game is going onto creations to get their mods they are going to nexus

Everyone is thinking to far ahead because Bethesda will likely add creation club mods to the Oblivion Remake/Remaster and every other Bethesda title that gets a Remake/Remaster. Also remember that Bethesda was the studio that was setting the standard for the industry and now look how far the mighty have fallen AND how many other studios that were great have fallen as well because they went corporate and only care about how much money they can make off their game before gamers can say anything about their game. Glad I don’t play Starfield.

    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:56pm

I was disappointed by Fallout 4 and never got 76, but I pre-ordered Starfield thinking that M$ really needs this game to succeed in order to push the xbox, I thought there was too much riding on this for them to screw it up. Lucky for me I refunded it 30 hours into ‘pre-release’ week and have absolutely no regrets. The game sucks and I could see this kind of nonsense coming.

Why do we care about Achievements? Or console users?

PS3 and Xbox 360 were rip off cash grabs back in the mid 2000’s, thanks to console users liveservice games are even a thing in the first place.

Console users for the last 2 decades desided to become willing milked w#or€s. F console users, they made their bed now they can lay in it.

Played Starfield again the other day, and the game feels so dated. The fact that I can’t swim underwater, or swap shoulders in 3rd person, or even simply not being able to see my body in first person for immersion is laughable. I immediately uninstalled and went back to my Skyrim with 1500 mods that’s way more immersive than Starfield. 1000s of hours in and I’m still not bored of Skyrim. Tried to give Starfield a chance again but it’s a joke.

    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:56pm

    Eh, could be worse…

I wasn’t even interested in Outer Space adventures anyways, so Starfield was a pass for me. As for Skyrim, Elder Scrolls 6, or Fallout 5 with paid mods — it actually depends on if the mod in question peaks my interest or not. Also I don’t even give a cluck about game achievement. They’re utterly meaningless, just like religion.

    • @kukipett
    • 2025年 1月 16日 9:56pm

Before the game was released i was really interested to make mods for it like i did for all other Bethesda games since about 20 years but after the release, i did not really feel that i would get into it, then after playing this crappy game for a while, i was sure i would not make any mods for it.
Lately i was a bit bored and i thought “maybe i should try to make some mods anyway” but now, if they take this route to greed, it’s definitely a NO!!!
Starfield is worst than Fallout 4 in so many ways, worst NPCs, worst companions, worst story, worst quests and so on…

i mean if people only game to get achievements then yeah sure thats makes them only have the option of paid mods but at the same time … people that have modded before never really cared and if they did care enough didnt there used to be mods just to unlock all achiements in a game ? like achievements being the issue like im confused why achievements matter ? but then im pc just dont see the reasoning why console players cling to achievements ?

I honestly dont know or understand how anyone can actually still be playing Starfield?
Its the most Sterile game ive ever experienced! Zero Bethesda soul, terrible writing and dreadful graphics for the performance cost.
Before you call me a hater, I WAS a massive Bethesda fan, but after FO76, and Starfield, ive lost all hope in their magic.
It truly pains me that Starflop was the first BGS title I ever uninstalled and felt NOTHING.
Also who tf is even wasting their time modding this trash??? Why do that to urself?
    Im done ranting.

Watch for the ES6 only “verified creators” will have access to the creation kit. Im calling it now. I also think everyone needs to get the OG oblivion before the remaster comes out. I guarantee they’ll also introduce paid mods in the remaster.
