Can’t be as nonsensical as the Koshka from Bo4
Bullpup revolver shotgun could have been cool… but it’s Bethesda…
It’s a bit like a six12 but dumber
I’m starting to think that all Bethesda gun designers are Orks
A patent for a magazine fed revolver exists, but it adds so many more moving parts that can fail. Never got off the ground really.
Honestly i feel like the gun was being designed by one person and then got handed off without any explanation or clarification on how the gun was supposed to operate so the new designer just free balled it
I mean tbh it looks cool.
Pancor Jackhammer mark 2😂
honest take i kind of like how it looks
the use of guide rails and spring based claps in the bolt would be the only real way i could think of in getting it to move forward or a spring system in the stock that gets push back by the bolt after feeding a round forward there are certainly ways to do it but none of them are practical
Looks cool but the magazine concept is retarded, should’ve made it an energy based weapon and have the “magazine” just be a battery pack or a heatsink which would be a lot less mental gymnastics to explain how it works because it’s just a Sci-fi weapon at that rate.
Also i just realized after replaying this short a number of times that the barrel has to be angled since the muzzle flash is from the top.
Technically that is still a revolving shotgun, not a semi-auto I think. But it doesnt matter cuz it doesnt make sense
What is bethesda’s problem when it comes to firearms…
It’s space magic with an artistic twist given in a Bethesda wrapping
Just serves for style. 0 logic involved
I don’t believe the round would be travelling anywhere, no idea what’s up with the reciprocating masses up-front.. But there is more than enough space in the stock for a fire group, in fact the cylinder & it’s surroundings are str8 ripped from the Six12 shotgun, a real-life functional revolving shotgun with gas-seal. It had various forms, from bullpups with similar dimensions as we see here to under barrel versions, it had a pretty neat mechanism, I don’t know why the company didn’t release many of them or whatever, though I’m sure their asking price would be something like 2-3k considering the complexity, quality & dev. time used up.
The UB versions had mere millimetres of space between the end of the cylinder & end of the gun, don’t recall the entire mechanism of it but was probably something funky like we see in the infamous TKB-022PM, a firearm which also had it’s mag so close to the end no-one actually believed it was real until we got schematics of it. Not crediting Bethesda with genius design or anything as they have that weird reciprocating stuff @ the front so I doubt they actually know or think of the inner-functions, but just saying you’ll be surprised what’s possible with some ingenuity.
With all that said however, only a small portion of the rear of the cylinder is being supported by material & even if you make that cross member tough-enough this is still a very sketchy design for modern & especially futuristic running pressures, it’s not the black-power revolver days where only support from on side was sufficient (think open-top cylinder black-powder revolvers). Even if the pressures are low since it’s a shotgun round, they aren’t THAT low & there’s a lot of mass / energy going through, here being supported purely by that stock up top & barely reaching the centre of the cylinder.. Also such a short path from the THE most pressure-bearing component right to your shoulder has go to be THE WORST recoil feeling, people don’t realise how much of most firearms actually move & twist upon firing (AK is a perfect example, that b*tch flexes in every direction in slo-mo) so having a totally un-dampened, hardest-hitting part right by your cheek has to be horrible!
TL;DR:
All-in-all, with much better support @ the rear & preferably being further-forward for recoil impulse ALONE, this wouldn’t be something that can’t exist & is based ON an existing design; the reciprocating stuff up-front is so random “cool-looking” BS and not actually feeding shells into a chamber up-front, @ msot you could say it’s the gas-system, liek what Pancor’s design used. But, IF the idea of the shells being forwarded (somehow..) would be used as you say it’d be quite the epic & nonsensical journey..
..and would immediately defeat the purpose of the cylinder, of course.. So I am still sticking with the belief it’s just a Six12 with sci-fi crap attached up-front & nowhere near enough support for the cylinder @ the back of it for it to be safe, especially if it gets a very spicy load, it’d shoot right into your shoulder & bend the stock upwards right into your jaw.. Nice.
Mfs when a game has fictional guns in a fictional setting.
I think it’s cool personally, if not really comically dumb.
Ah yes futuristic jackhammer
I’d ask for a Shattered Space gun rant video but there is only like 5 of those and they all are just reskins
This looks like a mechanism invented in the early 19th century before they invented mechanisms that made sense
Bro should look up the commissioner and the NSPDW from Planetside 😂
Theoretically, I guess a piston could be in the stock, that pushes the round forward, then a mechanism hits the round(how it would do this, I don’t know? Maybe like an A10’s?) then it pulls the round back, let’s go, cylinder rotates, repeat.
So dumbass lousy storyline doesnt bother you.All you care about is some lousy shotgun.
I looks like it would be the best gun in the game but it’s mid at best
Starfail
If it works it works ahh gun
Everyone here is missing the point of artistic freedom and instead circlejerk about how guns in video games should be 100% realistic. not to mention how fucking pretentious Mr. brandy sounds.
It also has five front sights. Literally AI generated gun.
It feels like this was meant to be an energy weapon [My theory stems from how much design language it shares with the Orion, especially with what are very clearly batteries/capacitors on the sides of the gun] but they changed it into a projectile weapon at the last minute and just slapped a revolver cylinder on to reflect that.
Look up the ‘Pancor Jackhammer’. Trust.
they could have made a cool Pancor Jackhammer type deal, but they did this instead? why is Bethesda like this?
It dont work but i kind of like it.
It looks really cool but makes no sense
Hear me out, if that gun was actually engineered enough to work, it may actually have advantages! It would be more accurate as it would travel from the back of the gun to the front! I’m not sure what the technical term is called but I believe it is “muzzle velocity” that would be increased.
The vacuum of space sucks the shell into the firing chamber obviously 😂
when I saw this in the notifs I was still stuck on the “bullpup revolver”
What in the Kentucky Fried Fuck?! Idk what Bethesda devs are smoking but clearly they have too much of it.
Boy
I Dont Understand What you said Like Not only is it Cursed but its also Confusing
I think it’s a great gun, if you’re going to be super critical about it you better be super critical about every gun bethesda’s ever made because they all have flaws.
This game takes the words ” stupendously unique ” and takes it to an entirely different scale.
Gun nuts when the futuristic space game doesn’t feature realistic guns (they just want an AR-15 again)
How very disgusting lol
Oh dear god
It really feels like they just tried to make the most creatively cursed gun designs. Which might work for Fallout where the lore actually allows for crazy gun innovations like this. But in Starfield it’s just so weird that they would be making strange experimental guns instead of just the most functional thing possible for space.
What’s next? A muzzle loading, lever action, belt fed Gatling gun?
Bullpup revolver shotgun? Must be an Pancor Jackhammer
It’s also probably the best ballistic shotgun in the game 😭😭 (Highest damage per shot, you don’t really need a high fire rate on a shotgun)
I dont think the rounds even fire from the chamber, its not inline with the barrel. The cylinder is more inline with the barrel than the chamber is. Also the rounds stay in the cylinder, which they shouldnt if theyre getting fed into the chamber. Maybe its some extremely dumb recoil system to cycle the cylinder?
Once again, Bethesda proving that they know about as much about firearms as the average politician.
16 times the fail
See this is something I would expect from borderlands
Can you also review wolfinstine guns
Cant wait for the vodeo
Magnets?
Bro why do all sci-fi games come up with the most unconventional designs for weapons 💀
Its based on a real gun called the vantage arms Six12 bullpup revolver shotgun that is semi auto
In starfield you traverse the warp without a navigator and come out unscathed every time so technically this gun could exist in starfield universe.
Slap some scrap and gubbinz on it and it could be a perfectly serviceable ork gun
This is what happens when you task someone to design a gun who has never seen one or know how they work
Ah yes, the future where ballistic guns have more moving parts and more can go wrong…
A CNN reporter made this gun for sure. The fully semi automatic revolver high capacity bullpup ar-47 shotgun grenade blaster.
They literally could have just put PC parts on a Six12 or a Pancor Jackhammer if you just wanted to piss Zach off, there was no need to create this abomination.
each round probably has to go through some sort of circus trapeeze act lmao
Bethesda can take pride in the fact that no other company will ever beat them at creating cursed nonsensical guns
Ima go ahead and preumb the feeding mechanism involves some sort of magnetic moving firing tube
Space logic
I’d bet that if someone asked the devs about how this works, they’d just say something among the lines of “futuristic shit” or something
I think they tried to make six12
Is it an even remotely practical or realistic design? Absolutely not.
Does it look sick as fuck, especially when firing? Hell yeah.
Goofy ahh shotgun
Bethesda is run by a bunch of bucket heads who’ve never shot or looked at a fucking gun
Bethesda trying to make the ATF’s head explode
it would almost make sense if it was a laser gun. It would still look stupid and over complicated as hell, but at least you could hand wave the ugly design as some necessity of the gun. Making this a shotgun is just unnecessary.
Also, have you ever considered doing a video about the guns from Mass Effect? I know they’re all ridiculous sci-fi guns powered by supernova pixie dust, but I’m kind of curious nonetheless.
Ain’t no way they decided to put a Pancor Jackhammer that is even weirder than the original version
Why tf is this even a shotgun? It looks like a rifle or plasma/ laser gun instead.
My man would love to see the halo infinite bulldog
We really got the fully semi-automatic magazine fed revolver shotgun before GTA VI
It makes me angry it’s so stupid.
Looks cool at first. Gets dumber the longer you look at it.
It just works
