To be honest, Elder Scrolls 6 will have to be amazing otherwise Bethesda may fall apart as a company if the game flops.
Fallout 4 was pretty ‘of its time’ to be fair.
So long as TES6 offers me a good world, interesting developments in the lore of Tamriel and ways with which i can create and live as different characters I’ll be happy. I get great joy from Witcher and TES both, but they’re not the same. A more apt comparison would be the new Witcher to the new Dragon Age since they’re more similar types of experience. As flawed as Bethesda games are, nothing still scratches that same itch
Everyone just remember that starfield runs on the exact same engine that Skyrim did 10 years ago.
Lol i highly doubt it will be less than average. People forget that all the Elder Scrolls were amazing, and ES6 will be no different. Gamers are so weird nowadays.
3 years, lol more like 10 years
Starfield is almost unplayable in terms of enjoyment. It is so unbelievably sterile.
It is really shocking how time flies. The trailer was like 6/7 years ago… Kinda blows my mind.
ES6 will be lackluster compared to all the amazing modpacks we have access to for Skyrim
Bethesda are the G.O.A.Ts of Not Innovating and Improving
Ubisoft are close 2nd
if es6 combat feels as dogshit as skyrims combat then it wont matter how good any other part of it is. the witcher and darksouls (1 and 3) showed me just how terrible skyrim feels and I still cant enjoy any part of it because of the combat. no mod has been able to fix that either so if es6 doesnt fix it I can’t see anyone giving it the time of day beyond a first playthrough
Starfield releasing after cyberpunk is wild especialy because that buggy flawed original version of cyberpunk was still a better game
The problems with Starfield would’ve still been problems 5-6 years ago, hell 10 years ago, 15 years ago. Starfield simply has poor design issues, doesn’t matter how far along in the “tech” they are.
Cyberpunk 2077 released broken AF.
11 months later, and people still can’t stop talking about Starfield.
Definitely a game of the generation.
This guy is so full of sh*t. Is the gaming community this brainwashed? Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3 Were games leagues and bounds ahead of literately anything else when they released. They’ve had 2 game flops in the last 21 years and Fallout 76 has made a huge comeback so literately only 1 game in 21 years.
Cope harder
Starfield showed me the pire laziness of Bethesda and todd Howard
It’s dangerous to think you know what audiences wants more than they do.
Until they build /use a new engine Bethesda is fucked
2 steps no?
Bugthesda is going to be always the same outdated developer
3 years behind oh please… no need to be kind anymore when the greedy f**kers is pushed us to pay 70 dollars for triple A games, and is planning to keep pushing up the cost 85 dollars.
Bethesda is stuck 2011 when it comes to story and characters, there graphics and game lodging is still in 2015. They are not laging behind, they are frozen 20 years behind in time. But still they wants the consumer to pay top dollars for their 20 year old product in a bad economy that is pushing for a world recession.
I think bethesdas games have been more about the premises, ideas and concepts rather than thw quality of the software or engine. You can make fun games that can fit on a calculator.
ES6 will be the game that closes Bethesdas doors.
You don’t expect a good reply from a psychopath like Todd Howard. He’s a pathological liar and never feel guilt or remorse or even admit his f**kup. It’s just like what Luke said in this video about Todd downplaying on a lot of good criticisms and be like “Yeah, some people love and some love it less.” No, Todd. No. There’s no “love it less” they HATE it because the game is BAD!
What gets lost in the conversation is the WHY their tech being so behind is a problem. Because while modern technologies doesn’t make a game good; bad/outdated technologies can definitely make a game worse.
The problem isn’t using a custom engine; its that the creation engine has not kept up with modern standards, but has such foundational issues that you would need to massively overhaul huge chunks of it to address (at which point you might as well start over). The “endearing jank” is getting a lot less endearing with every game released.
There is *NO WAY* Bethesda will have time to make TES6 good enough. For TES6 to be good, they’d need to overhaul their game engine so that it no longer has loading screens (among a long list of other things). They just released Starfield, they’re working on a Starfield expansion and they plan to release TES6 next year. *NO WAY* they’re committing to updating the engine. It’s going to be a sh!t-show.
This gotta be the most ridiculous take I mean Skyrim a gmse from 2011 absolutely destroys thr Witcher 3 a gmse from what 2015 like it’s not even close and that’s unmodded. And don’t even get me started about Cyberpunk I mean they busted ass shit barely even fucking works meanwhile in Starfield I can literally fly to different planets. This is literally just the droningon of a CD. Poject Red apologist and a Bethesda hater that’s really all it is.
It feels like Bethesda are still making games for the Xbox 360 … They’ve never evolved and updated with the times
Yup, TES 6 will likely be my last Bethesda game. I love TES, but Bethesda thinks their past success will continue to carry them and at this point, they’re a shadow of what they used to be. Their company is at the end of its career. It’ll be forgotten in a decade.
I wish Bethesda would sell fallout to Obsidian
Bethesda needs good writing and they need to go back to the old style RPG like morrowind and daggerfell i played daggerfell unity and man that game is old school hard core RPG but i don’t think the new generation of players will be happy about if Bethesda will do this
you’ve spoken about it so many times, at this point I’m just convinced people like to hear you say it
looking forward to TES6 just because of how hillariously bad it’s going to be, definitely not spending a penny on it
good take
Both games will be trash. Cyberpunk, starfield, fallout 76 and 4 are all terrible games with cringe writing. Bethesda are way beyond 3 years behind, their games run like some games from the 90’s with game speed being tied to cpu.
pepole assumign witcher 4 is wild to me if pepole rember how cyperpunk luanched
Bethesda has amazing writers but horrible coders ever since fallout 3 everything has felt like copy and paste
Agree but you never know could be the next top two selling game like skyrim but amped too the teeth with graphicx and gameplay, story we dunno. But how fo 76 is looking it could be bad. I cant play the old games bc there nothing new in the story for me
The dev cycles are becoming too long for AAA companies. At the time, I thought 3 years between halo 2 and halo 3 was a long time as a kid. Now, it’s taking a ridiculous amount of time to create these massive games.
Thing is, if you want a lovingly handcrafted game (a’la Baldurs Gate 3) you kinda need that long dev cycle…so it makes you wonder what the hell happened during the production of Starfield, as I personally think it’s a pretty boring and terrible game, and yet it was in development longer than BG3.
Witcher 4 is going to be the greatest embarrassment in gaming history. The entire team of Witcher 3 is GONE, and the replacement are ESG gobbling activists. Witcher 4 is going to make Sushi Squad sound like a decent game.
And for ES6? After F4, F76 and Starfield nobody has no hope for BSG, except the shills of course.
Their has never been an Elder scrolls game that hasn’t been a masterpiece Have faith it will be great
Saying Bethesda takes 3 steps is an overstatement. I’ve played their games since Morrowind and have modded all of their games to death. My current skyrim mod list has over 2500 mods.
They only make 1 stop forward in 10 years compared to other companies. Tes6 when it comes out won’t even be close to what modded skyrim is capable of, stuff that gamers have made in their free time is far superior than what Bethesda have done recently.
Everytime i play a Bethesda release i feel I’m playing the same game with some new stuff and polish here and there and with new features and better graphics.
In comparison look at CDPR and how they went from witcher 1 to 2 to 3 to Cyberpunk. Look at insane leaps they have made technically in the same amount of time.
Every Bethesda game is shallower than the previous one. Fallout 3 and oblivion where deep, interesting games with a lot of complex stuff going on. Skyrim and Fallout 4 were way shallower games with more style over substance, way worse story telling and more combat focused at the detriment of the rpg aspects. And starfield….. we don’t talk about that one
Bethesda has issues but man you guys are like, setting yourselves up to dislike them before even playing their games.
3 years is generous
3 years behind is mighty generous 😂
Imma say it, after what people have seen with tw3 and cyberpunk, tw4 could be the only game that could clash with gta6 for the best and most realistic graphics, the gap between these two and the other games would be wide (maybe also tlou3)
Are we forgetting what happened to cyberpunk? Also we haven’t seen either of these games yet and people have already made up their minds.
ES6 is their most anticipated game and it’s already DOA
They do this because they got overconfident with Skyrim and Fallout 3. They have made more than enough from both games to start working on a new engine.
Bethesda also knows if they release a broken game, people will still buy and the modding community will patch it up and improve upon them.
I honestly hope bethesda goes under completely and has to sell off their IPs Fallout and Elder scrolls deserve better than modern day bethesda is capable of producing
Elder scroll 6 is going to be a bug unbalanced mess.
Pro-tip: Stop playing video games today. When TES VI comes out in 2032 but feels like a 2026 game you’ll be impressed. Problem solved 😊
All of this is dumb. None of us know. What if es6 is amazing and witcher 5 is shit like cyperpunk? We just dont know dude… these convos are stupid
I mean if we count doom they’re doing good in that department
The real question is will the Witcher 4 function on launch or will we have to wait a couple months or a few years for it to be playable? Same goes for ES6 of course. Lol
Seeing how Witcher 4 probably has a few more years of development, and how the culture in cdpr shifted after the release of phantom liberty and learning from their big mistakes in the base game, the elder scrolls 6 will get obliterated and has zero chances of being good, especially with how they are managing starfield now and how arrogant Todd Howard and Bethesda are.
Watching Todd deny and avoid acknowledging that starfield sucks and is boring is like watching Intervention when the Alcoholic on the verge of dying from drinking claims they aren’t addicted
We’ll see how bad it is in 2030 😂
They are using the same engine that Skyrim was made with 😂😂😂 regardless of their minor engine updates. The game will look like shit, likely run like shit and be shit. Not excited at all, nor do I have ANY faith left in them after shitfield
So if ES6 releases in 2025 it could be the best game of 2022.
Its time to ditch the creation engine honestly.
I mean, New Vegas and Oblivion were not exactly behind the competition with the success they had. It’s not a Bethesda problem. It’s a current Bethesda problem. They only have it now because they somehow believe they are untouchable and can publish garbage. Except even Ubisoft at least makes a technical effort to not publish ugly ass games. If even they do it, you have to as well.
It’s almost like Bethesda takes 10 years to make a game so by the time it comes out the graphics are 5 years behind…
I think The Witcher 4 will be an incredible game, but CDPR shares a lot of the same issues Bethesda has. Especially releasing broken games on console. People seem to forget but TW3 had broken quests, visual bugs, corrupted saves, and other annoyances like Roach disappearing and players having to walk 10 minutes to the nearest sign post. The reason CDPR gets a “pass” with most people is because they eventually fix the game themselves. Bethesda on the other hand just ignores the issues and waits for modders to address them.
3 years? More like 6
The people who love tes games don’t really care abt having the most advanced cutting edge technology. They really care abt the worlds and story’s. They’ve been behind the whole time in terms of graphics and engine. Even gameplay is dated most of the time but we really enjoy the worlds and story’s in and outside the games. I’d rather have a great story and world building than some fancy high tech ultimately not that game changing dodads and lame god rays that just make things hard to see and confusing.
3 steps sounds like 2 way too many for bgs tbh…
es6 will be the biggest let down of the generation. unless they decided to use an entirely new engine, and even then, they might not make a good game bacuse they arent used to the new engine
So they’re 2 steps back?
I’ve tried a few times to get I to starfield, and I just cannot. All the load screens kill it for me. That’s not saying their other games didn’t have load screens. They just didn’t feel as often and the main map had plenty to find all over. Starfield was missing that also
Yall say this then talk about how every game that comes out is super bugged and glitchy or just straight broken
You meant to say 6 years behind … Right?
Well can’t really say because both of these games do not exist currently, they’re equally non-existent.
They are not just 3 years behind. Starfield is 3 years behind The Witcher 3. They are a decade behind
Honestly i don’t even agree in the case of Starfield. That game had less life in it than Fallout 4, New Vegas, 3, Skyrim, hell even Oblivion.
It might have been slightly less buggy and had better graphics or slightly more technological capabilities, but it was vapid. Devoid of anything that felt engaging or a world you can lose yourself in.
And for the first time, it was made with mods in mind. With Bethesda what that means is, “Why the fuck are we gonna make the content when we can just get modders to do it for us?”
By the time tes6 comes out there will legit be a bigger gap from the tes6 trailer to tes6. Then there was from tes5 to the tes6 trailer
I got to be honest I don’t get the hype behind Witcher it’s aggressively mid also who plays Elder Scrolls for anything other than the setting at this point
Okay, I’ve been asking this a long time now, and NONE of you ever give me an answer; what does that even MEAN? That Starfield is ‘outdated’? In what way? Graphics? Honestly, who’s cares? Why does that matter? Seriously, most the same people complaining about this still stroke your cocs talking about New Vegas and Skyrim. Is it really a problem? Load times really break it for you? Please explain to me HOW it’s ‘dated’ and WHY you even care.
Edit; So, once again, you guys aren’t answering my questions, so don’t complain when I continue to say that your claims of these games being ‘outdated’ are stupid.
💯
Remember TES6 was announced like 7 years ago at this point
I think one of the problem is the engine, while thier engine does what most won’t, i think its time for them to build a new one from the ground up to take a big leap in technology.. i dont believe they can just use unreal 5 to make a elder scrolls game, it wont work.. or it would fundamentally be a different style of game..
Because they are.
I’m gonna play ES6 to the end even if it’s terrible. I’m thirsty for Tamriel content, sorry.
3????? You mean 6 years behind
They just need to either stop using the creation engine, or update it so it doesn’t feel like it’s 15 years behind every other game engine,
To this day I’m still not sure what the point of releasing that teaser trailer was. It has been 6 years.
IF THEY JUST RETIRE THE ENGINE OMG 😭
As things are right now i am just as worried about the witcher 4 as i am about TES6…
i thought i could trust them, but after trying to play star field for 2 weeks, i wasn’t enjoying it and stopped playing. I wish i could get a refund back but now i just dont trust bethesda
Once even the modders said they weren’t going to touch Starfield because it was too boring, I knew it was over for Bethesda.
I completely understand it when people say they don’t like starfield but at the same time a lot of us enjoy it. I just hope they continue to improve it as time goes on and keep the story dlc coming. 300hrs in and I still enjoy it.
I disagree with Luke’s sentiment that if starfield released several years ago, it would’ve been met with praise. The reason why I disagree is because of how bland, empty and boring the game is, as well the amount of your time it wastes when it comes to traveling and exploring. The main thing that’s baffling about the game is that it pales in comparison to every Bethesda game that came before, and that Bethesda had a much worse version of the game that they were ready to launch and Phil Spencer and the execs at Xbox told them they needed to work on the game more before they could launch it, which is extremely telling lol.
All in all, the game is a great example of how far the company has fallen and how unorganized they are, out of touch and quite frankly cynical they have become..
Also their engine. Gotta be at least 15 years old at this point
I really think they are in too deep with the technical debt. Unwilling to abandon an engine that clearly can not adapt to meet the expectations of players today, Bethesda will languish.
Gamers will give passes to load screens and graphics no problem if the game was good
Starfield issues were it was kinda bland, non of the companions were memorable or had unique identities and opinions, throw in some bugs and you get a game you play once then forget about
Bethesda: *only releases game of the year titles since 2002 besides Fo76*
This guy: “other companies take 5 steps forward, while bethesda takes 3”
5-6 years ago and those load screens would be ok, not big of a deal
Do you think the creation engine is holding them back, and if so, what engine should they use? I’ve heard Unreal Engine is good to showcase games and how they COULD look, but overall it’s poorly optimized for bigger open world games.
The worst thing about Bethesda is Todd Howard.
Hard to say whether es6 will be a success or flop, given that skyrim was such a well-received game but starfield was so disappointing. Worth pointing out, though, that skyrim felt similarly outdated at the time of release, people just didn’t mind because they enjoyed the story and gameplay enough.
I feel like bethesda games have the quality standards of the time they reveal the game is coming lol like starfield it would have been better received like 5 years before the game came out hahaha
The main thing bethesda has going for most of their games are mods. The base is good enough to enjoy but not good enough it doesn’t lack. They are always buggy as hell and that takes a hit when it’s stopped being cute a decade ago. Mods are great things to encourage but they shouldn’t be your bug fix crew. I don’t have confidence they won’t real garbage after fall out 76. If they don’t come out swinging they will likely die as a company.
ES6 will feel like an Indie-Game.
Don’t know why but i never liked any bathesda games everytime i start Skyrim always drop that game don’t know why tried fallout 4 didn’t like that its just their formula of rpg i just don’t like.
And ya you can pick everything but you will always lack carryweight .
Pluse their are no actual discription about any item. So throwing them will always be like i am doing something wrong
If Bethesda does improve and get with the times they could do something great. Who knows but no one has that trust or hope atm
I found nothing worth making me excited to play it and that remains the same even now. 😂
Starfield was good in my opinion a solid 7/10 or maybe 6.5. There were a lot of issues but a lot of other enjoyable stuff as well. Elder scrolls 6 will be bethesdas make or break if we’re being honest.
Side note: I think ign and other gaming journalists have ruined reviews scores. When you grade something on a scale of 1-10 a 7 is good. However journalists have made 7s out to be bad. There’s also this unrealistic standard that the gaming community has set for every AAA game to be some innovative masterpiece. If every project is a masterpiece then no game is.
