Im only about 10-15 hours into no mans sky its pretty fun imo hoping to get a few buddies to play it. Wow Starfield looks like a complete rip off. I loved Fallout 4 but I can’t stomach any more robotic Bethesda characters any longer. Even there animations still look the same.

I totally fuck with both but I’m giving it to no man sky it wouldn’t be a starfield if it wasn’t for no man sky 🤷🏽‍♂️

To be fair, there aren’t a lot of actual loading screens (or long ones, if you’re being pedantic) on Starfield compared to their older games because high speed SSD and compression and all that, but that actually makes it WORSE because they had the ability to make it seamless, but didn’t. They stuck to the whole transition screen. Loading screens were necessary in the past because the tech wasn’t there to make everything blend in (and even Naughty Dog made it work 15 or so years ago) but now there’s just really no excuse for an open world AAA RPG to not have seamless transitions.

Haven”t played Starfield ,but i have played No man”s sky and also Fallout76 .I heard that No man”s sky was terrible at start and now almost everytine they fix something,adding and etc AND it is SINGLE GAME with COOP/MULTIPLAYER IF YOU WANT…….The fallout76 if you dont pay you can play in server that exist from others even if you don”t want it…….AND still as far i played around 3-4 years it has the SAME BUGS when i played ,they never fix them. No man’s sky is an actual space adventure game though, your are free to explore both space and land, hell you can even travel from solar system to solar system without loading screens if you have the time lol

I like the game. But it lacks many immersive details that no mans sky has, plus, no mans sky is so much more vast that it turns me away from starfield simply for its lack of loading screens. Starfield looks better, but it lacks complete freedom of the planets and travel

Having played both games, they may look similar on the surface, but they are very different games. No Man’s Sky is an open world sandbox game where you can go anywhere, do anything. Starfield is an RPG, where you follow storylines, but also build your ship, outposts, etc. But you are limited as to where you can go.

Starfield was a big let down and so far the support has been too. If they release 3 big updates and release Starfield’s mod kit by the end of the year maybe next year it will be a better game. Right now its an unfinished mess.

If Starfield and NMS could be tossed into a mixing bowl with a helping of Empyrion it would be incredible.

Ive played both, in vr and on desktop, i prefer NMS tbh.

The NMS dopamine hits when you fly right into an atmosphere and the planet renders right under you perfectly as you fly in and across the planet. Unmatched by Starfield. Then you get out, walk around, and there’s actually things to do. When you’re done, you hop in your ship and launch off into space like it should be. Straight across the system to the next planet. Cut scenes are for inter solar system travel, not for every single transition in a game.

No Man’s Sky has my heart because when they fell in the mud and dropped their fruit basket, they stayed with them and watched it all grow into beautiful fruit trees. Starfield didn’t even notice they dropped their fruit and left them to die.

Ill be honest with you, no mans sky has better flying but there is absolutely zero story or missions that are compelling, i wish they were mashed together

I eventually got tired of NMS though because once you’ve seen one of each planet type, you’ve seen them all. And while that could be said about starfield, NMS has almost nothing else to do aside from explore and build. Few named NPCs so most NPCs are generic, no real cities to visit, story is an afterthought, rpg mechanics are lacking, no ship customization or building. I have to take breaks from it and come back later in order to enjoy NMS.

At least Hello Games actually supports their game, we know Bethesda doesn’t bother after so many years and so many bad launches.

Starfield did introduce me to No Man’s Sky… it never hit my radar until Starfield Launch… but friends told me to try it after my disappointment in Starfield…and comparing the two Starfield sucks… NMS is rich deep and full of things to do I now have 250hrs in the game and it continues to obliterate my expectations and surprise me… NMS is amazing and Starfield is just lame maybe if it cooks for 8 years of updates Starfield will one day be good… but na I doubt it NMS is Starfield if Starfield Devs actually gave a damn. Mass Effect Andromeda had a loading screen between planets and the story was epic. They weren’t aiming for a Star Citizen game. They were aiming for a story driven game. Yes, the graphics and bugs could use some work but after all the mods are added and bugs are fixed, Starfield will be really good. Even with the loading screens, it’s still faster than taking a whole minute to get to another planet at slow light speed and you don’t have to worry about the slow decent through a thick atmosphere that takes too long. Bethesda writes stories, not realism.

Starfield is another miss from Bethesda. I expected a step forward for Starfield. There are no sentient Aliens. Enemy variation is 0. You can’t romance whoever you want. You can’t have kids. You can’t build a settlement. Only outposts. Ship building is cool. Exploring random planets is kind of cool. But it is just Fallout with way way less imagination. At least the mission writing is better. But I put 48 hours into it and honestly I am bored. I dumped 100s into Oblivion, Skyrim, Fallout 3, and 4.

I think both games serve their purpose and are good in their own ways. It depends on what you want out of a game. Do you want an RPG that takes place in space? Get Starfield. Or do you want a game with actual space exploration? Then choose No Man’s Sky

It’s no secret that Starfield is heavily inspired by no man’s sky

NMS encapsulates the most mundane part of Starfield. Scanning and zapping rocks is incredibly boring and can be largely ignored in Starfield if you want. You can’t skip that in NMS which is why I couldn’t get past thirty minutes before quitting that game.

there is no comparison cause, your main ship is designed by yourself. Ships in NMS has to be found on location data an Luck. In Starfield your Ship is a hauler, Fighter, Freighter, frigate all in one, not like NMS.

It’s an RPG but most named NPCs are essential so if you want to be an evil character you can’t kill them. In Fallout, I once wiped out an entire town and that changed the game. Can’t do any of that in Starfield. That just doesn’t fit with “RPG” “be whoever you want”.

This is a year old post but I feel like I had to say this. Yall’s arguments are valid. I have many dislikes about SF. Lots of simple QOL and other problems that get really annoying after sinking hours into the game. I LOVE NMS. I have like 500+ hours of play time. That said, obviously there’s going to be lots of similarities between SF and NMS! Those arguments are like comparing all the different shooting/military games. Like battlefield and call of duty. Like yeah no shit they have the same guns, mechanics, etc. They’re the same damn genre lol. I actually wish they were more similar. I wish NMS had a actual storyline, combat that doesn’t suck, and customizable ships. Similarly, I wish starfield had better on-planet traversal like ground vehicles, flying above the surface not in orbit, landing, etc. There’s my rant lol

No Man’s Sky is better imo… 18 quintillion planets. We couldn’t explore them all unless billions of people were playing 24/7 for millions of years.
Not to mention, NMS has grown A LOT over the years. It’s true exploration and freedom, all created by a dedicated indie team who, tbh, made the best comeback in gaming history. And they continue.

In Bethesda’s defense, building outposts was a feature in the fallout games so that one should slide. And obviously having jet packs in space is a no brainer. The mining tools and scanning feature might be a tiny bit too similar though 😅

I hate how theres a big portion of people that hate on NMS because they played it when it came out and don’t give it a shot today because it really is an amazing game and came a really long way with all the updates (free at at)

Go where you want (as long as its a fast travelable zone where an instance can be made) and be who you want to be (as long as its a good guy who kills only when he must).

No man’s sky isn’t a story driven RPG. And using lasers to extract resources has been in dozens of games before no man’s sky. Base building has been around forever and fallout 4 had it. It’s not copying anything more than no man’s sky is a copy of everything.

Both games have massive issues not delivering what they promised let’s not kid ourselves here, NMS is still not the game that was hyped up to be even with the infinite free updates they put out, but at least they do not charge freakin $75 for what essentially was made better in NMS. At least you can land anywhere and walk all across the planets without loading screens so yup, NMS wins over Starfield any day.

No Man’s Sky is just a cartoony Valheim in space. It’s hardly even a space sim, and it’s 100% not an RPG game either.

When the history talk about the games of this era, no man’s sky and star field will definitely be categorized under the exact fame game type. They’re essentially the same thing with slightly different aesthetic

It’s funny, I played NMS for about 15 hours before becoming bored of it and putting it down long term. After about an hour of Starfield though, I now have a new appreciation for NMS and picked up right where i left off.

I would love No Man’s Skyrim way better if the “Space exploration” was actually Space Exploration wtf. I really Enjoyed the fact that I’m No Man’s Sky you can actually fly to other planets, go thru the atmosphere and land ANYWHERE that you want. Also you can fly around the planet before, after, and during the exploration of such planet

The only difference I’ve noticed so far is that in Starfield, you can walk around your ship while in space. You can do this with your freighter in No Man’s Sky. No Man’s Sky has no loading times when going from planet to planet unless going to another system. I love both either way. The things I’m most excited about are the mods I hope go to console, like in Skyrim.

Starfield has elements that i want in NMS, but NMS has elements that i want in starfield.

I get so burned out by NMS because it feels like there isnt much to do. Starfield has way more quests and companions that keep my interested, but unlike NMS starfield lacks the shipboard space exploration that i enjoyed in NMS. I feel like i dont have much use for my ship in starfield asside from the necessary fast travel method and throwing all my loot into. However, i am really enjoying starfield and may play it more than NMS.

yeah but the difference is that you cant build ships in no man sky, specially customizing it, nor play space battles or have your own house in the game, oh and you cant compare 2 games only because they are space games

I bought No Man’s Sky this Tuesday and havent stopped playing it. The game easily keeps you playing all day long. Originally i bought it because I own a PS5 so cant play Starfield,but I didnt expect it to be this good,meanwhile I got 2 of my friends convinced to get it as well and we’re now teaming up😅
