Sounds nice I suppose from an orchestral point of view but it doesn’t really hit for me. Nothing really jumping out at me as I listen that says ‘THAT’S STARFIELD!’. Watching this 4 days from launch, I can’t believe it’s finally almost here! It’s unreal. I remember when Starfield was just a trademark, and all the speculation around it. The last time I’ve been this excited for a game was fallout 4, and then Skyrim before that. I truly believe it’ll be the game of a generation, just as much so as Skyrim was.

Love the old Star Wars, Mass Effect, Wing Commander, NMS meant well but didn’t quite did the job, and so many other space games I have played in the past tell a story of the space junky I am, suffice to say movies like Alien, 2001 Odyssey, etc. also make it into my memories of a lifetime. Surprisingly I just found out about Starfield about 2 months ago and can say I have waited for a game like this perhaps in my existence, to have a taste of every game I’ve played and every movie I’ve watched and be able in someway to do some of the things I did or watched. It is indeed incredible and can’t wait for it. Hope PS owners eventually get it, or at least for those that cannot afford a PC or multiple consoles, or even better to end my comment, I hope I am not wrong about this game and it is what many hope it to be.

Bethesda helped make my childhood great. It now looks (and sounds) like they’re going to help make my adulthood great too.

Say what you want about Bethesda but they know what matters for a good experience and part of that is convincing and fitting musical score, something that so many other game developers brush over lazily. Since Morrowind all their RPGs have fantastic music.

Reminds me of how I was always disappointed in Jeremy Soule’s Elder Scrolls stuff, _knowing Soule was capable of Total Annihilation style soundtracks._ (It’s not like Soule never did any good tracks for Elder Scrolls. Pretty sure the Skyrim Main Theme was his. But then you get into the actual game and it’s all forgettable ambiance rather than memorable themes.)

Serious Alien vibes, with the half step main melody. Just like the flutes in the Alien theme.

Fairly interesting stuff, but it stagnates around that singular main theme too often, which, as flowery as it is, is kind of limiting; Jerry Goldsmith it is not, shall we say. More variety in the permutations and general orchestrion is needed, for my tastes. Make more musical ideas instead of pinning everything on just one.

Inon Zur is a terrific composer but I find his work lacks the magic Jeremy Soule has. I’d say 50-60% of the The Elder Scrolls was the music for me.

Sounds a little too Return of the Jedi meets Fallout. It mirrors some of my concerns that this game may not have its own identity.

I’m reminded of a mixture of the planets suite and some hints of Morrowind’s and Oblivion’s music.

sounds kinda artificial and forced. it’s a nice little theme but not worth this kind of elaboration, a concise 3 minute song would have been more appropriate. and as in almost every classical recording, the sound quality is bad, everything is really muffled, muddy and undefined. dunno if its supposed to be like that or just a youtube problem.

This is just like Skyrim with its feel, I can explore space to this music.

I’ll wait 5 goddamn years for this game. Just don’t give me another cyberpunk. I’m tired of impatient grognards making execs think they need to rush out games.

Not just Bethesda games but every game, because it always made me lose immersion, but I have to be honest, as least for a while, I’m probably keeping the music on for Starfield, because this is probably some of the best work I’ve seen in a long time.

What’s exiting is that morrowind took about 6 years to make I believe.
The time and technology really does help push the boundaries of what’s possible.
Bethesda games always give me reason to get exited, but never as much as this new space epic.

Drummers were early.

The fact that Starfield is not coming to PS5 at all sucks. I hate that companies, Sony and Microsoft, do this and alienate people who just want to play games and not have to buy separate consoles just to be able to play certain games on a console. Goes to show that some companies truly don’t give to F’s about customers and just want more money. Not surprised. Maybe I’ll just play it on PC instead of forking out more money just to buy the XBOX. Still have to give MSFT money either way….SMH. Guess I’ll do what I have to, to play what looks like it might be a very cool game.

This soundtrack has an epic and grandiose feel reminiscent of a John Williams masterpiece. It clearly plays with your emotions and ensures that you’ll be immersed in the game, I just hope the actual game matches this amazing soundtrack. Honestly can’t wait for the reveal.

I get the comparisons to Star Wars, but it reminds me the most of Stargate, Star Trek 2, and Holst’s The Planets – all great influences for a score like this.

I really hear the genes of Star Trek in this piece. I hear a lot of people comparing it to Star Wars, which I do hear, but this piece really hits with nods to Goldsmith and Giacchino. In particular, the theme reminds me of pieces of First Contact, the more nuanced and softer notes of the Main theme. If this score will reflect the rest of the soundtrack we’re going to get, we’re in for a beautiful, uplifting, otherworldly experience.

Maybe the suits we see are jump-jet-equipped combat-capable, have zettabytes of memristor compute, cybernetically enhanced, are fully self-recycling, and plutonium-powered for a decade at a time.

This kind of sounds some of John Adams’s music! I love this type of music, the chairman dances is my favourite song of all time!

If Bethesda is going to leans more into it though, because while it’s good now I feel like it could be better.

No matter how the game will turn out to be, this symphony is already an epic experience. Got goosebumps just listening to the tunes here. I also have to agree, there is a very noticable similarity to works of Goldsmith in this.

I am here only to say this “music” sounds to me to be a modified version of elevator music. This Zur is no Jeremy Soule. I cannot even imagine why Soule is not the writer here. No interest in this game.

I am betting it’s Bethesda’s first ‘AAAA’ space exploration game, the developers, game designers, directors, managers, marketing, etc…. putting a lot of effort into this game, after all, they have been working on it for 25 years from what I have heard which is insane.

Sigh, I don’t want to talk shit about Inon Zur, he’s a very competent composer but to me this just sounds like a happier version of his Fallout theme. Duu duuuuu, duuun. I liked his Dragon Age soundtrack but ye, I guess it’s just preference.

It seems a lot of people like this. I’m sad to say I’m not one of them, the reason I even care to comment is because music is so incredibly important to me for immersion. At least I don’t think its bad or distracting, it’s just.. bland. I’ll prob not even notice it while playing so in that regard some would say it’s a perfect score. Me myself would like to enjoy the music so much that I sometime just want to take a pause in game and look at the vista while listing to the score.

I hope I’m wrong and it’s just the main theme that is “boring” and the rest will be amazing. But I wont hold my breath as neither his Fallout or his Elder Scrolls Blades soundtracks left any lasting impression at all. To be frank, I’m not at all happy about him being the composer for TES: VI. So freaking frustrating that the best composer in the gaming industry had to turn out to be a (alleged) man pig..

I always preferred the scores to the Fallout games over the TES. Pegging Inon Zur for Starfield was the right call. There is this futura-inspira subtleties that was found in both the Fallout score and now this. Perfect balance of humanities aspiration and tension with the limits of ourselves and our world.

Been fan of Zur since Lineage 2 days, fantastic composer.

People will inevitably compare the music of Starfield to that of Star Wars. Zur does a great job of distinguishing his own style, while still delivering the impactful and driving melodies. I am especially excited to see how this plays out in the ambient music of the game.

I often drive just listening to fallout 4’s ambient soundtrack.

I cannot wait for this now. 🔥

I have high hope for this game. Todd was genuinely excited about this project, plus since Microsoft bought Bethesda, they’re now can access better technology for making their upcoming games. Hopefully, the game won’t be a let down, and deliver interesting story and gameplay.

I found out how terreble the main melody is after I heard Fallout 4 main theme, whis is almost the same melody. I was very dissapointed by that. Well you can say that this melody is his composer signature, but if it sounds almost the same, it is more like disaster than something to praise. Yes, you can hate me for this comment

I just plead with Microsoft and Bethesda that they learn from CDPR’s errors with cyberpunk and allow their developers time, even if that means we’ve gotta wait another 5 years for this game. It has so much potential not only be a great game to all of us players, but to be a huge asset for Xbox and Bethesda, as long as they let this project develop for long enough. And if this first score is any indication it can be an extraordinary game.

Makes me feel things. From Sadness to Mystery and hope

This is masterful. I read in an interview that they started giving a lot of importance to the music, which I think is a perfect approach to any film or videogame. In this case, it seems they already succeeded at the one aspect that keeps it all together. Well done.

This opening captures the feeling and intensity of A New Hope and then takes us into Dagobah, Cloud City, Mustafar with each drop and rise. I hope Starfield can capture the feeling of new places that Star Wars does so well, this piece certainly does

I like Jeremy Soule’s Skyrim melodies and compositions much more than the ones Inon Zur did with Starfield. Starfield Suite sounds grandly atmospheric but quite generic and lacking a personal touch. It is less memorable but not necessarily a bad thing for a piece of game background music.

This promises to be an amazing, epic score. Very much hoping we will get to experience the sort of grand moments of wonder that it evokes.

The dreams of the future, the possibilities, an endless sea vast and wild but a tragedy we will never live to see them.

Sorry Elder Ring but Starfield will be GotY 2022! 🤩

i don’t think it will be a good main quest.

I’m getting Star Wars vibes, which isn’t a bad thing I guess if not a little cliche… Was hoping for more of a distinct synth wave/techno composition like Mass Effect 2 as it perfectly represents outer space atmosphere.

Sounds too much like Fallout 4’s annoying, repetitive them. Those horns give me flashbacks of being stuck on the main menu waiting for the game to load up after crashing for the 1647th time.

I might be the only one, but listening to this composition and looking at the concept arts are giving me strong Star Wars vibe in all the good ways. If it’s actually Skyrim in space with this atmosphere, it will be awesome.
