they make games around Todd’s vision — limitations be damned. They got away with it with Fallout (not their IP) and skyrim because open world was so novel. Most good games are built around the mechanics. Clearly not the case here.
I haven’t played starfield but the whole concept seems insanely boring to me basically everything bad about Bethesda games without any of the good +the npcs are somehow uglier than they were in fallout 3
7/10 for the most funded game to date is pitiful 😢
It’s still in beta, right?
well. the game is trash….so…
i gave it a try again and i was still bored, i got the game for free and still feels like a time waster. the clunky UI and no mini map in cities, loading screens between doors, crappy navigation to objectives just is a waste of 130GB of space.
This game has become so over-hated so quickly. I do think a year from when the first big DLC drops, we’ll have people go “okay maybe we were being too harsh” that happens with every game that becomes over-hated
Yeah, definitely a 6 or 7. Completely average and not up to the standards of their games pre Fallout 4. People went in expecting Skyrim levels of goodness and got mediocrity. Hype + mediocrity = disappointment and the perception of something being worse than it actually is. Still glad to see people so vocal about their disappointment, though. Hopefully it will actually make BGS listen (though that doesn’t appear to be happening so far).
i like that everyone is talking about a Single Player game so much while a whole company has been hacked things got leaked out for a game thats suppose to come in 1y or so from now + more games/leaks that company has no games as we speak or any that we know for ,they have werid policy “can’t resell your Physicall games unless we allow it” then u got those canceled games while they are bumping the prize each year for a Service thats getting worse
id give it a 5 for nothing new and nothing really done
Problem Is the $70 price tag for a meh 6/10 experience.
So like animal crossing new horizon ☠️
3/10 would rather play a modern Ubisoft game
When he said something like “the longer I played it, the worse it got” I realised that was exactly how I felt. I got tired with it surprisingly quickly even compared to the amount there is to do. It just has a lot of tedious walking around which can be nice to have (see no mans sky) but when you don’t want to do that and want your exciting shooting game, it just derails the experience
It became a 5/10 the longer I played after constantly forgetting which planet had Neon Core or Akila, getting encumbered, walking on planets, digipicking locks that ended up having zero loot inside… the game is grade-A mid
It’s not okay though. Why do people want Es6 to be like starfield… if bethesda doesn’t learn a lesson from Starfail then Es6 is going to be the sme trash.
Idk about a 7…. maybe a 6 but most likely a 5.
Elden ring is a 9, ain’t no way starfield is a 7.
7/10 is above average. Starfield is actual cat piss. 2/10 is generous.
The “world” in starfield is not interesting. The exploration then discovery element is missing
The only way this is a 7 out of 10 is if it was released 20 years ago.
Personally, I think its unacceptable & doesnt even make it on a 0 to 10 score.
Yeah the first week everyone was sucking the game off
Do you realize PlayStation is bad? 😂😂😂
Starfail is dogshit, simple.
If the fans fall for Todd Howard’s lies again they have nobody but themselves to blame
Im playing it the way my brain compels me to believe it to be the true successor to what No Mans Sky was sought to be
I am a massive bethesda fan boy, can’t play Startfield without falling asleep. Fallout 3’s world felt more alive and real. Cutscene’s through every door like we are on 360s still. Dead world, r3tarded AI. Terrible and boring plot. I enjoyed Cyberpunk more, and that was also one of the biggest let downs in gaming history.
7/10 is a VERY generous score. Just like what you gave the last of us 2…
Starfield is good for a Bethesda game, take from that what you will.
No this is not a 7 it is a meh 4
For me, for 20 hours, I give the game a 5 out of 10. Is there literally anything about the game that is above average? Shooting, barely competent. Melee, incompetent. Traversal, boring. Graphics, incomplete. Load screens, long. Space travel, limited. Space dogfights, derivative and repetitive. Story, basic. Npcs, uninteresting. Can you shoot, stab, jetpack, mine, kill, steal, fly and explore your way across 1,000 panets? Yes. Is it any better than any other Space game I’ve ever played? No.
Gamers are toxic, most of em live like they are journalists getting clicks. Trolls trying to be edgy cuz it’s cool pretending like 7’s are actually 2’s and 9’s are 7’s and 10’s are only real if it’s a PC or PlayStation game 😆
I personally give it a 6/10. The game does nothing inventive aside from the ability to have a bunch of potatoes and sandwiches in one room. The main quests are boring and the side quests and activities are incredible stale. The UI is also shit, as well as the cinematography. The game looks and feels like an early to mid last gen game. Cyberpunk was in development for almost the same amount of time as Starfield and came out last gen but is so forward-thinking and fresh. Bethesda just rather not update their formula.
4/10
It’s definitely not a 7 infact if we call starfield 7 out of 10 it’s actually unfair to real 7 out of 10 games starfield is 5 or 6 out of 10 all of game mechanics are outdated AF how is this a 7
Best I can do for ya is 6/10
Doesn’t help that they started commenting on the steam reviews like we’re a bunch of lunatics
I like the game. It’s not perfect but it is not a bad game. But hating the game is “cool” right now. Can’t get enough of bandwagoning complainers.
It’s at most a solid 4/10 game
If I had to rate it it would be 4/10. It just feels outdated, no actual gameplay feels fun in of itself.
It’s a 10 for me still playing 49 of 50 achievements collected. 😅
Emil Pagliarulo is to blame.
If Starfield is a 7, then wtf is the score for a generic game? Out of 10 scoring is retarded, unless there is a constant standard across the board and that’s just not the case.
It’a more like a 4/10
First Bethesda game I actually felt like playing and then got bored after 1 hour of playing it. What a snooze fest. Games and the story are supposed to reel players in from the beginning and keep them hooked until the end, it fails miserably at doing that. I give the game a Solid 3/10, 3 for what little effort they put in it.
I cant give Starfield over a 4/10. IMO the first 5 points in the 10 point scale represents functionality and the latter 6-10 represent the rest of the elements of a game.
Every gameplay design choice they made for Starfield is a failure so it gets 0 points on that front from me. And the game is still full of Bethesda jank and unnecessary loading screens so i can give it 4 points for being relatively stable.
I think mods help breath new life into it. I’m beginning to mod my play through and it is more fun.
Its not a disaster but its not great either, its a solid 5.5/10 maybe 10 years ago it would have been better received but gaming now has become so much more intricate and expansive than what Bethesda pumps out
It’s a decent game with absolutely no replay value. Also on a side note, the quests were all pretty awful by Bethesda standards. The only quest I genuinely enjoyed was the collander
I played 70 hours and was completely done with it. I have have hundreds in Oblivion and Skyrim, and over a thousand on Fallout 3, NV, and 4. The game is a 6 to a 7 for me. Such a generic world and combat that’s somehow less satisfying than Fallout 4
I agree with “the longer I played it, the worst it got”
5/10 is generous
My issue is inevitably though they tried to play it down I started with BG3 and went to Starfield with low expectations mainly got it just because it was on Game Pass, I didn’t even realize I had 150 hours into Starfield but I’ve moved on from it there didn’t finish any main storylines I was ran off with it being poorly optimized and the NPCs feeling lifeless beyond anything else. My 150 to 170 hours completing BG3 continues to draw me back in I’m at 30 hours of play #2 and already experiencing things differently on Act 1, hidden story elements, new things new dialogue. Starfield just couldn’t keep up.
I totally agree with your 7/10. I really had fun playing the game for like 50 hours or so… but the longer I played beyond that, the more bored I got. It just needs more variety, more vehicles, more stuff!!
It gets a 5 outta 10 from me
Lol, the game is bad, suck etc, and yet on reddit i see haters playing the worst game ever for like 100h-500h and say that its boring and terrible but you still spend 100h to play a stupid game?
A 7 is way too high! a 7 is a flawed but really fun game like Robocop Rogue City.
Just way too big, and needed to have a better main story. The intro looks and feels amazing and then it’s like eh after
Lmao 76 has more replayability 😂
I quite enjoyed it to be honest
Yeah it’s probably a 6-7/10 and in ten years it’ll be like 8.5—9/10
7/10 is WAY too generous!
It’s the epitome of mediocrity and a 5/10 at best.
The only aspect that’s remotely good is the shipbuilder, everything else is just meh…
7 out of 10 is way to generous
I like it, but I didn’t care at all about exploration. I rarely do in video games
7? are you dreaming? Bruh its like 4. 5 max.
Critics: “game was not as expected, but still enjoyable”
Fans: “ this game sucked, and is the worst possible game in video game history. I was personally attacked by a Bethesda community manager!”
I think 7 is too generous, its a 6 at best only thing good about the gane id the ship building system
Starfield is a solid 5/10 game,It’s beyond mediocre.
It’s barely functional and relies on mods to fix it,got some of the most obnoxious primitive designs in gaming and You can’t even have fun in the damn bloody game because of how combat feels dated.
Games like Horizon,Days Gone,The Far Cry games (and pretty much any Ubisoft games),Modern Need for speed games,OG COD and Battlefield games and generally any Video games you can at least have fun regardless of it’s quality are what i’d call a solid 7/10 game
Would you say it’s a controversial 7/10? HONEST CONFERENCE!
I’d give it a 6 out of 10. The game is quite fun, but the biggest flaw to me is how they justify the main quest of the game is a glorified new game plus
Honestly it’s a 6/10 game but the amount of defences and blame on the fans for not enjoying it makes it taste even more sour to the point where I don’t even care when someone goes into it.
Trash short
this game should not have released in this year. it should have released when it was supposed to, 2021. its dated.
7/10 is VERY generous. If it was their first game, and was released years ago then…maybe a 7. But this is literally Fallout in space and it’s built on basically the same damn engine. It’s a hard pass. 4/10. I’d say 5/10, but I don’t like this studio and I’m severely biased. So, they get a extra point docked. Sub-average.
It’s a 5/10 at best, and that has a lot to do with what a lazy production it was. Some games speak for themselves with the amount of hard work which went into them. Starfield on the other hand, looks like a quick cash grab, with Todd and the gang counting on the Bethesda drones to eat this slop up.
I haven’t played it yet, but I’d still like to. At least on Game Pass.
I would maybe give it a 4/10. The only positives to me are that the combat is alright, the ship combat/ flight controls are solid, and the game has good visuals (minus NPCs). Story, exploration, world building, and character’s were all incredibly boring to me pretty much immediately.
It’s not a good game. 5/10
I got my moneys worth out of it. I played for over 120 hours before stepping away from the game. Ill probably return when the mod support launches to see if i can turn it into a star wars game.
Just like fallout 4, they got completed overshadowed by a RPG that released earlier in the year and broke boundaries while they played it safe.
In all honesty, it has the best main story (not saying much) and faction questlines of any mainline Bethesda game and is the most polished. On the other hand, they butchered the exploration game loop thats in every bethesda game. On top of that the Bethesda formula was already played out for people when fallout 4 launched.
Still a solid game, just not worth the hype in the end and Bethesda didn’t really go further than the formula they perfected in 2010. Although open world narrative games seemingly get away with sticking to a played out formula. Hogwarts Legacy and SM2 in particular spring to mind. Solid games and nothing more.
It’s a good game if you play it right. Thats what makes it disappointing though that you can’t play it like a usual Bethesda game
Can we stop with the 7 and 8s, 7 means better than most, this game isnt erven better than most bethesda games, its a 4 or 5
5.5 out of 10
The negativity is justified imo.
Not harassing the devs but what did yall expect?
People have been critiquing Bethesdas games for over a decade and Bethesda have been making the same mistakes for over a decade.
At some point you’re gonna flip the table and lash out
That’s what happens with multiple major delays and Bethesda themselves hyping the game up. They increased expectations and came out with a game that looks like it was made for the previous gen consoles.
it may be a 7/10 on a good day but the absolute chore it is to play for a long period of time makes it a 5/10
BGS has consistently oversold and under delivered and that’s why there’s so much backlash in my opinion. Starfield isn’t awful, maybe a 6/10 but it was yet another outdated Bethesda game that was oversold by the used car salesman/late night televangelist Todd Howard.
I almost wonder if they’re going for the Paradox model. Where the’ll sell a dozen small dlcs to make the game planets more feature rich
Fallout 76 dribbled past 7 defenders crossed the ball and Starfield simply finished it. Its not a bad game Id say it is average at best, but it was not enough for Bethesda fans to regain their faith in this company. Yes Skyrim and all the pre Fallout 76 games were very buggy but at least they had a heart and soul.
The game may not be as great as some people would have hoped. But it is not a bad game, and certainly not a game for everyone just like any other game. People bitching about it for 2 reasons, it being an Xbox console exclusive and also for Bethesda using an outdated game engine that resulted in a technically outdated 2023 game.
Starfield is a scam!
The game is 5/10 on it’s own, but when you factor the statements and hype Bethesda pushed it’s worse. Bethesda deserves worse than what they’re getting.
The longer I played the worse it got. 6/10 A mile wide and an inch deep sums up the game with a ton of bugs only matched by the repetitive nature of loading screens, power temples (so boring floating through 24 of them) and repetitive procedurally generated content that reuses like the same 5 – 10 resources.
How is it that I can fly to the opposite end of known systems and still land randomly on a planet and still land next to an abandoned research facility and there are dozens of ships flying about YET in the settled systems there’s like one major city that feels empty. Again, a mile wide and an inch deep.
I did enjoy the base building and setting up a resource empire until that too got to be too tedious with the inability to sell things fast for lots of cash without the need for waddling with tons of goods on me and sitting and waiting 2 days to continue selling my wares.
Hopefully it becomes the next Cyberpunk and gets fixed via patches and DLC to become that game that it can become and not just be like… here modders is a sandbox for you to fix the shitty things we did and didn’t deliver. Enjoy.
Its easily a 2 out of 10. That is not an exaggeration.
•promises so much
• delivered so little
•fans are bad
Thank you Luke, this was nice to hear
I felt the same with the longer i played it the worse it got. I first found it ok then got to point were it became great 8 out 10 then later it dipped with all the repeat content and the story which i found lacking other all a 7 out 10.
Aaa game enjoyes and their bullshit fettish
At best For space game is like a 4 or 5 in 2010
I mean, there’s no topping Skyrim
Nah, the game is AT BEST a 6/10. That’s if you’re a Bethesda fan and can look past the flaws on the technical side.
It’s a solid 5/10. It’s functional but barely, and it has a good concept to get it up to that five. I don’t know where you get it up to a seven. Out of total curiosity, do you have a breakdown anywhere of your grading scale or how you determine your score criteria wise?
Negativity only got out of control cuz the developers are doubling down & attacking fans for not liking the game. They are finding fault in the fans rather than their own mediocre game. They are deflecting every valid criticism. And the vocal minority that did like this game & think its a “generation defining game” is not ready to accept it was mediocre. Even the modders are not ready to mod it.
The day people learn to call a spade a spade, all toxicity & negativity will end.
