Just to think that Bethesda is about to “Starfield” Fallout 4 with this kind of crap, once the next FO series goes live on Amazon, FO4 is going to get a new makeover doing away with Creation Club and replacing it with Micro Transaction mod system and I look at seeing these kind of overpriced unmonitored mods and crap over on FO4, it’s obvious that Bethesda could give two cents about these creators thus the reason there’s no quality control.I mean if they can’t keep up or able to monitor Starfield how in the F are they going to be able to monitor FO4, I honestly believe as others in the comments have already pointed out is that Bethesda is all about the money and not customer care or service.

Honestly Nexus’ post system has saved me from installing many mods I might have had problems with, as well as convinced me to give mods a try I might not have considered. Not just in Starfield, but in many other games.

Seeing one or two posts saying something isn’t working is one thing, but seeing a whole wave of posts stating this and seeing that the last time the mod author updated or interacted with users is hugely helpful in learning that a mod might be one to avoid. Also it helps troubleshoot many common mod issues since regularly another user is able to help out in getting things to work proper. It’s a sort of built in security feature that protects the user from ruining their game or finding out the mod isn’t what they hoped for.

There is NONE of that on the creation kit’s format. No way whatsoever for a user to gauge if a creation kit mod is worth/safe to grab for the players playthrough. In fact the few ways to know if a mod is even working proper or not is usually through content creators that are willing to take time and spend money to share their experiences with the mod. Moreso if someone takes a risk and gets a bad mod then it means that person is less likely to spend money on other mods which hurts other mod authors. This works the other way too. Users who have a good experience with a paid mod are more likely to spend on other mods. I don’t really understand why Bethesda doesn’t see the benefit of having a system in place to protect their product and us users from grabbing a bad mod.

I’ve never paid for a mod through Creation for any Bethesda game, and I never will. It’s even more important now to hold to my convictions on this now that Bethesda is sneaking microtransactions into the store under the guise of being a “mod.”

400 credits for a terminal script I could probably throw together in a day. Meanwhile I’ve been spending months building something and I’m debating in my head whether its a 300 or 400 credit kinda mod. Doesn’t add up.

    • 2025年 9月 11日 9:56pm

Paid mods shouldn’t have existed to begin with and people shouldn’t bought these. There’s a reason the nexusmods site has an option to donate to modders.

To be fair, it´s hard to define “lore-friendly” within a fictional universe like Starfield. On one hand it doesn´t have enough original lore to expand on it in depth. On the other hand its based on our real world so technically everything that exists now is in theory lore-friendly regarding Starfield. Even a group of nerdy rich guys firing up some old-earth PCs for a Call of Duty LAN-party would not break the lore of Starfield. Sadly Bethesda messed up here big because they completely wiped out large portions of the “lore” of our species like basically everything that has to do with culture or religion. We´re talking about a universe where even the filthiest of low-life pirate scumbag is reading Dickens but Göthe is lost which is funny because even aboard our (compared to Starfield) low-tech ISS, the astronauts have access to almost unlimited amounts of books.
So given how ridiculously selective Bethesda was with “saving” earth-lore, Black Jack may or may not have survived and a similar game with entirely new cards may or may not have been invented.
Space magic, multiverses, ballistic firearms, laser weapons, trying to be hard sci-fi while also having facilities on barren rocks without pressurized habs… Starfield has a bit of everything and a whole lot of nothing. ” Lore-friendly” loses its meaning in a setting that has no defined lore itself.

this is the exact reason why i have always hated Paid mods. Its not about the awesome creators, i would happily donate. its about the Lack of a better word “Walking garbage” that takes advantage of it. people will do half ass work, then get your money, or bethesda purchased currency? and then bail on the mod. it has happeened before and they will continue to do it. unfortunately people are stupid enough to fall for it time and time again

I really wish we could hit a button to dislike or leave a comment on a mod. It would help a lot with quality control, and it would give modders a way to get feedback on what they’ve posted without having to ask players to use another service like Discord (which is mandatory for Verified Creators).

I love Discord, but it’s a pain in the behind for players to hook up to a new Discord every time they want to report a bug or get in touch with a mod author.

    • 2025年 9月 11日 9:56pm

Crimson, you seem to be on a quest to find the crappiest paid mod for Starfield. There is a FREE blackjack mod on Nexusmods with real cards. Why can’t we focus on actually useful mods? You are less likely to find them among paid Creations, which are in general of lower quality than free mods, since Creations can’t have dependencies, which limits what they can do.

    • @me2olive
    • 2025年 9月 11日 9:56pm

“New Game Customizer” by the same author was among the first achievement-friendly mods, and is a clear cheat mod as it effectively gives you certain achievements straight away. This was reported to Bethesda by other VCs at the time, and rather than address it Bethesda mods just responded by telling the VCs to stop bringing it up.

It kind of shows how Bethesda deals with this entire game, they just do not really care.
The 1 thing that they have taken in to acount was the modding community
The game was pretty empty and we now see what good mod authors can do with that, more poi and missions in to cave etc.

Why would BGS stop this? They’re getting PAID to allow this. Crimson, you can’t be so naive to think this want the whole point the entire time. It’s why they’re so willing to refund your credits for a mod, so long as your money stays in the store. Remember Todd doesn’t have a degree in anything artistic, he’s got a Business Admin degree. He’s here to make money not art LMAO 🤣

The bad part about creations is you might be buying from a teen with no knowledge or know how in CK. They just click around until they think they made something. In return you buy something or download for free to just have issues. Most of the verified creators are actually Beth devs under the table.

Did we play casino games on earth here? Then it’s lore friendly. Starfield’s history is our world…….. I also guarantee you that any civilized society has some form of judicial system, in fact the game explains that the Rangers act as the judiciary system in the free star collective. None of this breaks lore, and I thought that you were gonna tell us that the mods don’t function properly. But this is just your opinion. Maybe somebody thinks that gaining an economy or enhancing the economy is the exact right role-play for them.

Paid mods should be held to a higher quality standard, imo. I can appreciate the desire to profit, but make sure its worth what you say it is. After all, there are a lot of mod sites where new modders can practice their craft, and the community feedback that will tell them how they’re doing, what they need to change, or look out for, etc.

Paid mods, though… If I’m spending my coin, I expect a product of at least better than minimal quality – not something that looks like some kid spent 10 minutes in blender, then another 5 in an AI story generator, and wants a stupid mount of money for the gubbage cranked out the end of his/her sausage grinder. Another point is that the free sites usually have a way to ‘tip’ the author, so voting can be done that way, too.

Bethesda needs to have people in the loop whose job is to actually look at and play these mods, with a quality standard in place; keep it transparent so the author and community can see from the devs side where a mod succeeds or fails. Maybe then there wouldn’t be so much pushback against the paid stuff…

Thanks for the tip off on this, C.F.

Okay, 5 seconds in and I’m already angry just looking at the screen. I’d rather go back to your error of linking the Neon Island footage and watch that again. For that pharmaceutical supply mod I probably would have targeted something like Panopticon as a high level chem, because it is *the* premiere military combat chem. As for industrial supplier, those are vanilla quests. Like you can literally pick up a quest that states, “We need 10,000 Adaptive Frames and will give you 250,000 credits”(not the actual reward). I think I said this in stream, but a casino-themed paid mod would be a great opportunity to craft a custom machine. Like, you want a slot machine, make a large, flashy slot machine, have sounds and lights, make a bunch of spinning symbols in fun themes. If you don’t know how, check out the Borderlands games starting with 2. Heck, Bethesda had paid arcade cabinet machines back in Fallout 4, so there’s a precedent there. Don’t give me silent, high school classroom grade stuff that someone could program in 2 afternoons, tops. Sigh, I’ll end the rant there…

Like anything in life, buyer beware. Everyone is out to rip you off kind of mindset. I have no issues with paid mods, the problem is that around 80% of them are not worth downloading even if they were free, let alone paid. I will say it’s also discouraging as a new mod author, to see what passes for a paid mod and the most insulting is the fact people actually clicked the like buttons on these. Players can be weird in what they like I found out.

    • @JaredKohr

    • @SoyChrisDarker
    • 2025年 9月 11日 9:56pm

That’s what some people call a “casual catcher trap.” Experienced modders who don’t care about the game itself, only about the money. That same author (who changes his name between Skyrim and Starfield) creates the most ridiculous money-grab mods. He’s responsible for things like the “Handcart Texture” or any “X Texture HD” for 100 credits. He knows exactly what he’s doing, and I’m honestly impressed that Bethesda even allows that kind of mod. Again, I’m not against paid mods, but this is just a “casual money trap” for people who don’t go online to research mods.

I’ve seen casual players purchase things from the store without checking any info about the mod first. There are even paid mods in the store that don’t work, like “WFFC”and others that are free. Some paid mods aren’t even updated anymore, yet they’re still being sold. Bethesda needs to remove those mods, along with the pointless paid ones like text-based in-game menu mods. Those are nothing but a scam.

    • 2025年 9月 11日 9:56pm

Yeah, like it’s a mess of their own creation so I’m not defending Bethesda here but I will acknowledge that not having an awful DRM system in place does put refunds in a weird place (coping mods before “refunding” them and all).
Still again BGS could have avoided this just by actually curating the creations and just going “wow this is crap, no” to the shovelware, but like steam they have very little reason to fix it/lot of money shaped reasons to not.

    • @ghengisbobber
    • 2025年 9月 11日 9:56pm

All this talk of money and credits sickens me. Modding used to be something fans did for fun to share content with each other and build cool things off of each other‘s content. Bethesda ruined it. Now it’s all just for a quick buck and no one is sharing anything.

I wonder if the bookmark numbers appear as a commodity like a store’s lay-away, even if they don’t become actual sales. Maybe we should write down on paper what we want to check out later and not use bookmark.

    • @Toedy
    • 2025年 9月 11日 9:56pm

Thank you for your great video. You hit the nail on the head. This is one of the reasons why I choose the mods from “Next.” There is the opportunity to ask questions or read reviews. I only buy mods where I can see exactly what they are, either through videos that the mod developers create for their product or through tests like the ones you conduct.

Regarding your example with card games, I would like to provide another example where the cards go beyond 10 or 11. Take Rummy, for instance. There, you can use an Ace as either 11 or 1 and then continue with Jack, Queen, and King. In our society, this game is very well-known among older people, similar to Bridge among the English.

As for the Bethesda refund system: I have heard that it is quite simple. You just need to send an email to Bethesda support, and you will receive a refund without much hassle. The more refunds certain modders receive, the worse their standing with Bethesda becomes. They might even get removed as a result. Therefore, it’s important to always request a refund. This is the only way we can show Bethesda that we disagree with certain mods or modders.

However, what bothers me a bit is your presentation. It is very well-structured and presented, but I personally find your swearing inappropriate. Perhaps it is due to the current way of speaking or the automatic translation. I would prefer if there were less emotion involved and the presentation were more neutral. Otherwise, I find your videos very good and enjoy watching them.

Bethesda could have had something special with Starfield if they would have just poured their resources into it fully instead of half assing it for modders to improve it. Mods should never add or fix a game. It should always enhance it. Bethesda got too big and lost sight of what made their previous games special. Now we have this mess with half assed paid mods in the Creations Store.

I know its a different game but thank you Hello Games for No Man’s Sky! Don’t even need to create mods or use mods to make that game enjoyable.

Yea honestly I blame Bethesda also for not moderating what’s being sold on the creation store coz at what point would you draw the line for mods that are blatantly made as a cash grab a and I feel that the creation store should have a review system or at least a like and dislike rating to show how these mods are being received (if they don’t want to properly moderate the mods) also if you want a proper mini game that is decent checkout red mile blackjack table its free

This type of garbage is why people hate paid mods. This person shouldn’t be allowed to create paid mods.
