Starfield 2.0 – HUGE CHANGES! A Complete Overhaul
#starfield #bethesda #xbox #playstation
Starfield fans have been waiting for a new update for a long time, and Bethesda has been remarkably silent about Starfield for quite some time now.
A lot of people are curious as to why Bethesda Game Studios has been quiet about Starfield since they released their last major expansion, Shattered Space.
Recently, creative producer Tim Lamb had a spotlight on Bethesda’s YouTube channel and he talked about some of the exciting features that are coming to Starfield, including new story DLC, space travel, quality of life changes, and more.
Starfield has the potential to be so much more than what it is, and we are hoping that Bethesda is taking feedback for Starfield with massive updates on the way that completely overhaul Starfield and turn it into a Starfield 2.0 update.
In this video, we go over all of the potential mass of changes that Starfield could receive, changing it dramatically.
Starfield launched as an Xbox and PC exclusive with a great metascore of almost 90. The potential release of Starfield on PlayStation 5 would be a great time to announce Starfield’s next massive update.

Thank you all SOOO much for the incredible feedback and amazing support on this video!
😊🤜🤛
So many positive comments that are so refreshing to see in the Starfield “space” 🌌
I sincerely appreciate each and every one of you 🙏
“Be constructive or shut up”? That was classy. You got a thumbs down for that.
Let’s put our heads back from the clouds and realize, “Starfield” will never have the redemption of NMS.
Hello Games put their backs in it and with hard work they excelled.
Bethesda expects modders to fill the gaps. Totally different context.
“Positivity” and unsubstantiated expectations don’t fix games. Real people with vision and passion can do that. Not exactly Bethesda’s strong point.
Going back to Fallout 4 now. Cheers.
@18:34 Colteastwood said there isnt a mod to see what you equip on your companion npcs, its you?…. well there is a mod its “Proper Companion Previews”
I would love to have more reason to upgrade my gear
I’m fully stocked in various way but I really need those crafting methods to be improved.
Very excited about the prospect of an overhaul and would even consider restarting if my sunk cost could be assuaged.
Thanks for the in depth analysis
I hate that I love this game
Have 733 hours in Starfield, first char got one round through the multiverse. Second char in modded Star Wars Alien environment has 2 runs to the multiverse. Through mods i think Starfield will follow Fallout 4 where i did 2000 hours with various modded chars and mod environment.
I agree with pretty much everything y’all said. The one thing I’m concerned about is what can they do with the engine. I am hopeful about it’s future but I also hope that it’s not pawned off on modders.
For one it needs aliens
I love starfield ilove playing it … could be better mind andreja’s tits could be bigger Sarahs thighs too and Sahra Morgan needs to be less of a whiney slapper less rag doll enemies ooooo i have a huge list
My eynal is fully erect
We will not let the dream die. Let’s make this game the game of our lives.
Star field has a great foundation, the execution is crap. Its like just cause 4, the developer threw out all the stuff that made just cause 3 amazing.
If they can do to Star field what cdpr did to CP2077 I’ll give it another try.
I would love combat to be a bit more engaging and exploration getting improved.
My expectations are incredibly low.
I call Male Eye!!! That is a critical inquiry art term given to automatic assumptions that everything is geared to titillate men. I am a woman. I create female characters. I have never romanced a woman. In Starfield it’s always Barrett or Sam. Fah on your sexy gear for women! Besides, I always that Deacon looked cute in his dresses as disguises.
I think they should hand craft the areas around cities and add quests with local lore and collectors stuff so you can bring to your home/ship it would make the game more alive plus the powers quest they should of done each power something special and different style quest not like same and repeat
They may as well call it Starfield Next
Can someone share this video with Tim.
I am very sceptical if Bethesda can pull a No Mans Sky with this game, given the history of Bethesda patching their games in the past. If you really want to see Starfield improved your best bet is the modding community. Star Wars Genesis is the mod that did most the changes I wanted to see to Starfield and I can recommend everyone try it. The mod is still in development but the game with the current mod build (8.3) feels like a completely different game because it isn’t just a reskin but also rebalances everything and expands almost every aspect of the game.
They should make Starfield a multiplayer game. That would be awesome!
What if the big secret is multiplayer?
Just watched your clip, and what a joke, not sure where you been hiding, i have over 1500 game hrs, i have 129 mods, i have 6 POI mods, so each time these will be Ramdan outpost to crashed ships, that without combat side of things, Watchtower is out, now can build your own fleet…Then there is Cryomancers mod just came out, another faction. i have just started a completely new play through as a LvL 411, NG+5. Ship builds as moved on i have 49 mods, outpost the same, i play as a Bounty Hunter there are all the quest for that just alone separate which is sperate, you can now harvest the bodys, material there is so much material you don’t need to pick up a hammer, to me you play what 400 hrs hahahaha, Shattered space is good, there is a lot to explore. What i would like to see is Alains, remember the film Battleship that is what the gane could do with, there is so much water sea on planets. for me just Humans is totally wrong.
I loved Starfield. Yes, it needs more polish and more immersion. However, the story was amazing… when I completed the game the first time… it sent shivers down my spine. It left me with a feeling of connection for everything that is and will be. I hope they keep this game going strong. It has sooooo much potential.
No Mans Sky has borrowed from Star Field, now Star Field need to borrow from No Mans Sky, Ive been hoping the 5 point star be complete. (Elite Dangerous, Star Citizen, No Mans Sky, X Foundations, and Starfield) The Big 5 Space Games, I want all 5 to succeed. They just need a little of each other.
I love Starfield its such an incredible game with creations.
we need a combat overhaul like cyberpunk 2.0 update. gameplay is always the option. less stiff and more fluid combat. mass effect andromeda did a lot of stuff badly but the combat was amazing, steal that system basically. just with star born powers and more realistic guns.
…what about the unearthly porridge like faces that morph every few seconds and distract the hell out of you…even fallout 4 had more natural facial features for the characters..at least they made some moderate improvements as for as human anatomy goes..but games that are 3 or 4 years older completely outclass anything Starfield has to offer..Fallout 4 with a cheap paint job and basically the same game mechanics but whittled down to a mere shadow of itself…that said..the game truly has huge potential..a real shame… it could have been spectacular… but their development department was heard to be lost in space heading toward Uranus…and mine.
I did a whole wish list of 5 needed upgrades needed on your buddy’s channel, you guys wanna do a top ten mod list for starfield because a lot of mods never updated after the last update and a lot authors are moved to the in game store so I don’t know witch mod does work and witch doesn’t.
Absolute banger Red and Colt all of the ideas are on point and so true! I got burned out playing and these kinds of updates would really bring me back into the game 👍
I want atmospheric spaceship flight, intelligent alien factions, and the ability to wrangle and turn the non-sentient aliens into mounts and pets.
I would love to see Starfield get an overhaul. Will it change that people have played the game and moved on? Probably not.
I hope Starfield does get a 2.0 Update would love to see some expanded features like space exploration I really enjoyed playing the game and I also do go looking through the Mods to see what creators come up with that sound interesting for a future playthrough when taking a break from Cyberpunk. if there is a a planned 2.0 that adds deeper space exploration similar to the No Man’s Sky I think it would help the game alot and could also be alot of fun, thanks for making this video I do find it hard to find people who actually did enjoy the game and appreciate the huge potential this game has.
Seamless space travel like NMS would do a lot to bring people back. Also better exploration and rewards for that exploration.
Fucking love this game. Just clocked 1200 hours after taking a 6 month break.
the lack of space exploration and things to do in space ruined the game for me. Hopefully this new DLC fixes everything. I want this game to be good. I want a cool space game. Fingers crossed!
To learn any skill, need to do something X amount of times. It’s needing a skill point on it for it to count towards its progression that is an issue for me. Remove that requirement and I’d be okay playing it, many other flaws and all.
So I saw your star field video originally on Colts Channel. This is the reason why I decided to watch this video on your channel and also sub to you also maybe you could be an addition to his already amazing xnc podcast. You look like a wonderful guy but you can’t put on your hat correctly LOL 😂
I don’t have anything good or bad to say about. That being said I won’t buy it until it is a complete game and at a serious discount. So, see you in 2 years or….
All the game breaking bugs in no man’s sky bring me to this video
I dont hate the game per say… I hate the studio that half assed it and then gaslighted us.
That aside im watching this due to the title and hoping for genuine good news.
Even if they added interplanetary travel to the game theirs so many systems that are so lackluster and hilariously bad it wouldn’t be nearly enough to bring back players
Great stuff dude!
I want the best for this game i have a lot of fun playing starfield no hate here
I think a lot of this is stuff Bethesda thought of but just figured modders would do it all for them lol
I put in 800+ hours into this game, and I’m still finding new characters, places, and quests. Even after New Game Plus. I think the game is fine the way it is (glitches being ironed out is noted). Upgrades and DLC are appreciated, but I can keep playing this vanilla version for years before needing the DLC due to the different paths leading to different outcomes from my different choices. Sure the main story will be the same, but the side quests are just out there to constantly be discovered!
One thing I need from this game is a better freak’n FLASHLIGHT!! You mean to tell me this future of amazing space travel and planetary exploration technology, and these spacesuits are equipped with 40w 1950s flashlights to get around a freak’n cave?! REALLY?
I was hoping it would be an upgradable element, but nope! I just wish I can take one of those background props that are super bright light fixtures inside of the caves and carry it with me!
The other thing I would ask for is a logbook. Something to help me remember where I found what item from which planet! Where did I meet who at which camp from what planet in a particular star system. That sort of thing. Because lord knows I can NEVER recall where I last came across a very important flower pedal in the UNIVERSE!!
Another thing, I don’t see a real reason to own and decorate a home. I primarily use them as warehouses. I wish as you decorate/develope your home more and more you’ll get incentives and perks from the town your house is in. Discounts from shops, more dialog options open up when talking to town people (no need to record new dialog, just open up those extra dialog options). Overall stat recovery and/or boost while you’re at home., Holiday mini games unlock, etc. Just stuff to make you want to hang out in your own home.
Oh… lastly, for now, there’s too many collectable playing cards, dart boards, ping pong and air hockey tables in this game to not have a mini game for each of those. I say go full Shenmue and make those games playable against npc characters. Gambling in cities like Neon, or hidden gambling spots anywhere else (again, Shenmue) to lose or make money. Bet on ship races, animal races, animal fighting, people fighting. Play poker, blackjack, make up a space card game, etc.
Those are the only four of my main gripes against this otherwise amazingly great game!
I don’t think it would be too hard to write in aliens at this point.
They haven’t discovered the entire universe and who knows who’s coming to them. Introducing a new big bad that is an alien race or multiple (good and bad) with a couple hundred thousand beings, attacking and inhabiting the many planets including human ones.
That could be their Phantom Liberty moment. Changing the story for the sequel by a long shot.
100 percent agree on POIs and outposts. While Fallout 4 isnt my favorite in the series the settlement system alone had me sink sooooo many hours into it. A thing Id suggest would have a DLC to restart the war between the two big factions. Like we missed out on all the excitement. Just imagine going out in space or a random planet and watching them duke it out.
Would really love some answers as I am historically a big Bethesda fan.
1. Is there a mod to vastly increase the variation of copy and pasted prefab buildings on planets and make it so they are not placed almost equidistantly to the landing zone?
2. Do NPCs have proper reactive behaviour trees now and daily routines etc?
Thanks
Bethesda likes to do the bare minimum. No mans sky just add both ship building and spacewalk g…might be time to come to a better space game
The concept of Starfield is really cool. If there actually is a Cyberpunk 2.0 type update incoming then I’m super hyped for it.
While this is a positive step it seems like starfield is taking small positive steps while no mans sky is taking gigantic leaps.
Starfield, for me, is amazing 👏
To say starfield is getting an “overhaul” is a stretch they are just adding bandages on a wound that needs stitches is the best way to describe starfield. The idea was amazing but “over 1000 planets” no one wanted it if they would of kept like 20 hand crafted planets they would of had time to add other things to make the game more better like other alien beings or better story an world building better things to do ect we wanted Skyrim level of quality on each planet not this….
I dont they can make it better its big problems in the base of the game exploration is not existing i this game its usually what i love about thier games im personally disappointed
As someone who really didn’t care for Starfield at launch, I am willing to say I’ll let them cook… between the official changes and mods, I could see this game being something I’d dive into in the next several years if updates/enhancements.
My biggest gripe with Starfield, which I really enjoy, is that Bethesda didn’t incorporate the in-game modding system from FO4. Having to put perk pounts into being able to put a simple upgrade like a better scope or better radiation shielding on a piece of armor isn’t lore friendly, in real life you don’t have to craft a scope yourself to put on a gun, you can buy one from a dealer or take one from another gun. Being able to detach a mod from a worse piece of equipment and attaching it to your gear is simply common sense.
I like what you guys are doing here!
An RPG needs a good story.
A space based RPG needs teeth, intrigue and depth.
Starfield has none of that. It’s still fun, but the main story, some of companions quests, and other issues bog it down.
That is what needs fixing and won’t be fixed
As for nms feeling good about thr size of space, I feel like im going crazy. Has nobody played elite dangerous!? Thats the way you do it. In nms, every planet is like a moon away, not a planetary orbit away.
I honestly love starfield. I only want the best for it
I actually like Starfield, and played 1,374 hours. I’ve spent a ridiculous amount of time just making ships. I don’t think most people know it’s a “cozy game”. There’s a lot of things that could be improved and I also think that’s what they’re working on. If that’s the case, they might consider making it a free DLC. I’d buy it either way, but it could generate some good will. ed- (i’ve edited this comment a ridiculous number of times because I didn’t watch the entire video first lol). I’ll just stop by saying, content is king. I can forgive a lot of things in a game, but it’s gotta have a tremendous amount of story. Shattered Space did not get it done. ed2- (sorry sorry), I’ve never understood why game studios don’t reach out to uber-fans to solicit ideas and feedback in a formal way. I’d spend another thousand+ hours (benefit of retiring early) helping out with design elements, gratis.
Put in a cover system for third person combat. Add the ability to swap shoulders when aiming.
Breaking down components would be AMAZING!
Awww. I was so excited to trash on starfield but it seems I clicked on one positive out of a thousand negative videos about this crappy game 😢😅
ok
Totally agree. Starfield has massive potential. And it will make them money for decades as long as they support it like Hello Games supported No Man’s Sky.
I want exploration to be rewarded by random costumes, outfits, rare different weapons and plans for new outpost or ship modules. Make them rare enough that it takes a long time to find them all.
So you want recycling in starfield ♻️ 8:00?
Skyborn. If you know, you know.
05:45 …this alone was a gamechanger for me, when I downloaded every P.O.I. Mod on Nexus~ to include several more from the Creations Store. I can’t say enough how much more this improved the overall experience. 👍
Armor and helm are fine, just allow clothing and say a beanie (Headware) remain equipped that is additive to overall effects and craft-able benefits on them. Ship editor needs door open/close NOW. Not a mod, part of the game. Great points in this video, just adding my $.02.
Liked Starfield before, added watchtower mod, loving game now. The mod changes the game in a big way
It feels like a stretch to say changes are coming. This is a wish list with almost no exceptions (implied confirmation of interstellar travel data mines being probably the sole exception), not any kind of announcement.
The roaming starborn should have more of a purpose. What if they dropped weird, unique weapons and armor from different universes that you could only get from starborn?
no mans sky: we released our Starfield update
starfield devs: but people didn’t like what we did!
no man sky is successful
starfield devs: WTF! *flips table*
CRIME NEEDS TO PAY!!! In video games at least. Save scummers are going to save scum no matter what. Let the rest of us have fun.
The star born powers were so underwhelming.
I remember playing and being on a mission where a star born had made their way through a base, slaughtering foes and seeing the massive deep scorched and grooves in floors and walls – implying the powers of the star born… only to have powers that don’t really do much damage and certainly do not have the effect of what was seen.
Solar flare is useless
If only we had a aliens and predator crossover.
I love Starfield, for me I can play that game forever
Totally forgot about starfield look Forword to what you guys got to say
I hope you can also set a course to a planet and if you have a crew they’ll take over should you decide to explore you ship. Sleeping can initiate fast travel.
While I wouldn’t be upset if they made this stinker of a game more palatable, I do not have faith that they can or will. My biggest complaint was never one thing, it is a multitude that all add together to make a product that isn’t fun to play.
1000 hours? You on your first play through? 😅
I haven’t played since release but all they need to do is fix ship combat or make it less obtrusive and necessary because it was boring and unbalanced/unintuitive and using a level up for ship combat feels like a waste and something I don’t want to invest in something I don’t like doing to begin with. I remember turning down the difficulty just for some ship encounters. that and the nightclub in neon was like an immersion ruining paradigm shift in the story. There were like 20 people in one of the biggest nightclubs in the settled systems supposedly cracked out of their mind but all they can do is shift their npc bodies from side to side like someone at a concert with their phone out half the time. Idk just these little things that added up. I did enjoy my time with the game though and I would like to see the bandwagon haters get proven wrong.
People really shouldn’t get to hyped at whatever is coming, the expectation of a 2.0 or being a comeback like NMS which was all done for free and continues to be one of the best examples on how to turn a game around. I do expect the update and DLC to be good, i’m just a bit jaded by the whole thing and don’t get me started on paid mods lol.
Love the opening paragraph: cyberpunk + starfield. Give me 40% starfield, 50% cyberpunk, 10% no man’s sky.
Give me the detail, the graphics of starfield, give me the story lines in cyberpunk that feel like you’re in a movie, give me the mechanics and heart of no man’s sky
The cities in starfield NEED LIFE! They should be huge! Jaw dropping, beautiful
One point of correction, there Is a mod that let’s you preview outfits on your companion’s model, I use it already. But yeah – we shouldn’t have to rely on modders to fix stuff like this.
Game had so much potential and some of the visuals are breathtaking, but they made the mistake and added those paste and copy procedurally generated missions and the same paste and copy outposts/caves. Really kills the immersion after clearing out the same outposts and enemies on different planets. The obvious in your face DEI/wokeness also doesn’t help…😒
I Have ideas for a second game: UC and Freestar are allies when machines become sentient (SKYNET, yes) and start a new war. Mechas now can be used and ships are bigger with new classes and larger bays so you can put your customized mecha or/and maybe a war vehicle inside.
With all that technology, yet, I missed cyber limbs, and that could be implemented in a Starfield 2.
I liked Starfield but loved Skyrim & Fallout 4! I have played Skyrim/Fallout 4 hundreds of times! I love the building in Fallout 4! I hate Starfields base building! I have stopped playing Starfield after the disappointing DLC! I still have some hope that the next DLC will be great! I love the Starborn storyline, but I just wish there was more done with it! I will keep an eye out for any changes & if they actually come to the game!
My biggest complaint with Bethesda needing to overhaul the game in the first place is that it just reincentivizes them to release a bunch of half features and then say well we can fix them after the games out and keep expanding. It creates an interesting dilemma where people supporting the game because they do genuinely enjoy it are inadvertently pushing these practices. Not that anyone wants to see a game fail, but in that regard it makes sense why people would want it to – So that this process of overalls and rebuilding doesn’t happen for the next game, and the next, and the next. Great video I know you worked hard on this one
Them: “Combined we have over 1000 hours in Starfield..”
Me **sips drink** “You gotta pump those numbers up. Those are rookie numbers.”
I decided to let Vae Victus live in the Vanguard Questline (blamed it on Orlase) and was so excited to find he later gives you assassination missions!!!! I was so excited to become a space assassin with all my powers and stealth perks – only to find they were very simple, all too similar, and don’t go anywhere – give me a cool weapon after doing some or let me slowly build a unique spacesuit after doing more and more assassinations …. what a missed opportunity!
I love all of this!!! What a more amazing game this would become with even some of these changes!
It just needs two things. Number one. Being able to go build a colony like Marika Boros wants to do. With everything that would entail. LIST could be involved to assist, recruit, and provide support. Once your colony was mature enough, you could set up trade and diplomatic relations with the other factions. Defense would be huge. From pirate attacks. Spacers. Zealots. Etc. You could even expand your new “faction” to other worlds, building even more new colonies. An Empire? Maybe. Number two. Expand the lore. The next DLC should focus on the Starborn and provide more insight into “The Creators”. We know the “creators” constructed the artifacts, the armillary, and the temples. But beyond that? We know nothing about them. Intent. Origins. Etc. We are told we may get to meet a “creator” one day. But not today. Very unsatisfying situation at best. More is needed. Anyway. That’s my two cents.
lol don’t bother coming, ok , I’ll leave and never come back
I feel there are 3 things the game is missing.
Intelligent alien factions would change the entire dynamic.
Better food and chem options with more unique effects would make scavenging more enjoyable.
Player customization was decent for this game but they should allow more color variations or customization for armors and weapons. It’s there with ships and cars but not suits and weapons.
If no man’s sky can turn around this can
I’m happy the people still enjoying Starfield get some needed updates to it.
For me, the games’ failure is far too fundamental for Bethesda to be able to fix after launch, because they are design choices that impact the core gameplay loop and world design.
The randomised locations on empty planets is a result of choosing to go wide instead of deep. I remain adamant that they shouldn’t have decided on 1000 planets. They should have done a handful of worlds, and even then not made the entire planet explorable, but only a couple “zones” of the planet.
This is because it would enable BGS to do what they do best when making their worlds. They could inhabit them in a way that makes sense, make them feel lived in, and pack them full of content in a dense and satisfying way that works well with the gameplay loop.
I get the idea and concept of going wherever you like on the universe. But what is the point when there is relatively nothing to do? Instead of 1000, if they had done 5, but with an actual content density and handcrafted design, we would be much more rewarded for venturing to those places.
More wasn’t better for this game. What it needed was less.
You know all those repetitive encounters in space?
After you respond to them a few times, they start to annoy you, and then you just ignore them.
They should build off those and add more depth that make you want to respond to them.
Take the people who are stranded in space and need ship parts. They should add a reputation system. The more you help them, the more reputation you build with that class of NPC
As your reputation grows with them, their responses to you start to change depending if you are helpful or not. You start to meet new characters of that faction instead of the same ones and they start offering you gifts if you have been helpful or insults if you are not.
All the while their response to you is building into a story-line that ultimately results in a quest. This would make me want to to interact with anyone I find in space instead of being annoyed by them.
Colt still lying out here 😮
I would love to have the option to trade loot at out of the way traders where I could be ambushed by Spacers, CF, Ecliptic, and others while in my ship heading there or even while walking to the trading camp.
I don’t really consider Creations a game mechanic, i have always thought if it’s not in the game naturally then it’s a mod, and i don’t do modding. It would be nice if they’re wanting people to use or incorporate something for them to put it in and not require a player to have to go find and do themselves.
I’m willing to listen.🙂
The craziest part to me is the fact that
The starfield haters or criticism are mainly inconsistant for example i still hear: “Cyberpunk2077 changed a lot and the devs still cares” this statement is completely untrue and the game literally lied and they cut a lot of content, and the devs went out of their way to make the game more easy aka more accesible to everyone is not even a hard game on max difficulty, the only true criticism startield can get: Quality of life isnt that good, few balancing issues, melee isnt as good as other games, loading screens but we know is bethasta and is not a big issue, AI Just isnt that good, those are the main issues that are real and also note: i think ratings should be changed to A game design rating, and a fun rating, people get confused and have so much fun in a game that they geniunely cant see the flaws🎉 we gotta rise up so games get better, critism isnt just blatant lies, no more hate or rage baiting reviews, And finally: people get to have actual fun on all sides
Amazing Video guys!
Does Starfield have pre-fabricated purchasable outposts, similar to the Camps in Fallout 76?
Colt sent me.
❤ this!!
Make it Co.OP or a MMO with pvp 🙂 space battles would be awsome
