Coffee time. Very nice video, awesome review of your previous work. Spot on reporting and critiques where appropriate.

This is frankly my issue with paid creations and dlc in general, when you start rivaling Sims in terms of sheer cost, there might be an issue, so I end up being really picky with the $15 worth I got in creds, I’m glad someone is willing to chip in to actually look at them to find the gems.

Like and comment for the algorithm! Interesting overview of your past reviews. I am looking forward to part 2. I respect your opinion even when I have a somewhat different take on some things. Keep up the great work.

Thanks for the recap on paid mods. Some of those I have, but most I do not. The info on Outpost mods clashing with each other is very good to know. I’ll have to check for those hinds of conflicts.

Maye you should focus a little more on the free mods on Nexusmods. They are usually higher quality and better maintained. The problem with paid mods is that they are only made for the money, not because the author would really be interested in them. Free mods are made because it is something the mod author wants for himself and just shares it. The best mods are free, e.g. Astrogate, Real Fuel, the Dark Universe mods or all the more complex mods that require SFSE (Starfield Script Extender) or Cassiopeia Papyrus Extender. Paid mods can’t do that, because they can’t use these third party resources that would be necessary.
The only justification for paid mods are, when the mod author has expenses himself, like paying a voice actor. So I understand the price for the Lyria mod, because the voice actress Vivian Reed needed to be paid. On the other hand she is also in the Legacy’s End – Wild Card mod, and it’s free.

…how much money have they made from this? I’m guessing it’s a lot

The money seems like a lot, until you compare it to other software communities like video editing or music production. where costs, plugins, time spent and developer’s silence are on a whole other level. One thing they all share – use the free stuff first!

So you paid about a grand (little under) for Starfield. LOL

Yeah I got to say. I don’t agree with you on the quests mods or even your opinion on certain mod authors otherwise this is an okay video.

52:44 The DKS-501 is not in Fallout 4, however there is a very cool mod which adds it.

Nice breakdown! When I counted my list and figured the cost it definitely stunned me. Didn’t really notice that I had spent that much. Even with all the sketchy mods and issues it introduced to the game on the whole… Still worth it as I’ve logged over 5k hours into SF since launch.

    I’ve found a better alternative to Wynter’s Digipick Overhaul, it’s called “Icebreaker” by S1nderion. It introduces an auto hack, like what fallout had. If you end up checking it out, the magazines that grant you the ability can be found at;

Akila: in the jail, on top of one of the desks.

Cydonia: you’ll find not in the governor’s office, but his apartment.

New Atlantis: in the tower where you trace the GalBank hacking throughout the well.

Neon: you can find this one in Nyx’s Apartment.

The skill the magazines grant you only allow you to auto attempt locks under master. You’ll need the ICEBREAKER for Master locks.

As for the actual ICEBREAKER device, you’ll need to complete Ryujin’s main quest line (It’s on top of your desk).

P.S – When you mentioned sailing ships in space you most likely meant “Treasure Planet”
Unrelated the old animated movie Sinbad is brilliant (the video tape one).

Can you review the new Hawk-50 .50 cal by NovaFinch?

A recurring “issue” with these is going to be the idea that even the ones you like will be seen as too expensive by others; and there is likely a free mod that does something very similar. As an example, while I really enjoy McClarence Outfitters I’ve seen people counter with the Legendary Recycler mod instead(Fallout 76’s system brought into Starfield). You also have super detailed mods like Xeno Master that are free unless you spend 100 credits for the AF version; good on the mod author to make a premade mod available cheap for console for those that wanted achievements with it. Bethesda also set a bad pricing precedent, whether with the Vulture, the “Survival” spacesuit, or the mining outfit. They weren’t as egregious as the $40 horse skins in Diablo 4, but that’s like saying a poop sandwich isn’t as bad as being dropped into a cesspool.

Aye, good concensus! If folks were wondering, I do have A Staple Addition update in the works, focuses on combat/modifications, more visuals (Will increase the possible cosmetic outcomes to around 12,000, more than enough for 15NG+ ). As for the Dredgeborn, I hired a concept artist who specializes in the biotechnical style to improve the design based on my original exploration and I’m hoping to have this updated and ready for Halloween.

This video can be summed up in the following quote:

“Looking back on that paid mod, it was probably a bit too expensive…”

I appreciate what you do, I think you’re really the one and only Starfield mod reviewer that’s worth listening to, but Jiminy H. Christmas… 700 shquid?!

If anything, your content should help the discerning customer stay well away from paid mods.

And I mean that as a positive; in this day and age of corporate avarice, paid mods were never truly going to work. Let’s just hope it doesn’t well and truly fracture the Bethesda modding community in general.
