I put this as an answer to another comment, but I think it’s worth sharing it. (modded) Starfield is also completely worth it, too! This amazing mod is actually witness of that. By this moment you can customize every aspect of the game to tune it to your liking, making it a great BGS cozy game imo.
There are also hundreds of mods that add lot of amazing things to the game, not only complete makeovers.

Literally just installed all of this today and I’m already uninstalling it. It’s very lacking and these videos do not portray what this actually is. You cannot use certain functions, ships are not able to be boarded properly and will crash when docking to stations. Character creation takes fiddling with due to clothes clipping later on and other items have no visual model. The mod list creator also refuses to do lightsabers….Star Wars game with no lightsabers? All in all this mod list is actually damaging to the immersion that this game with other mods can bring. The creator should portray is content accurately…. He said “gameplay and immersion are my priority” there is little.

Again, the community proving that we’re better off doing it ourselves than asking for companies to launch a decent open-world RPG Star Wars game.

I’ve been following this project on and off since the beginning, and i hope one day that it can be as total and complete an overhaul as starwind was for morrowind (that mod is legendary, though that team is great they did have it a LOT easier than you lol). It’s honestly amazing the work you’ve been able to do in just the time since the game came out it’s literally been LESS THAN 2 YEARS, i mean at this pace there’s no telling what you could do. Some mods take multiple times that time just to get HALFWAY done (the ones that DO come out are usually amazing, like enderal, and skyblivion seems to be the next one.

This might honestly make me buy the game. I have it on gamepass, played a bit, didn’t really like it, i didn’t think it was awful i mean i think the graphics and textures are great but the world and lore is just so lackluster imo which is really sad coming from bethesda.

Keep talking in the videos by the way, really brings them together and shows us your thought processes. Don’t spend too much time on the videos you can’t make the game or have fun on your own though!

This a really fascinating project and I enjoyed listening to your yapping lol.

I was interested in giving Starfield another go despite it leaving quite a sour taste in my mouth after putting in roughly 100 hrs after launch.

The more I put into it the less I liked it, and I put in what for me was a lot.

Loved the shipbuilding and really enjoy sci-fi overall but didn’t want to deal with, what is imo, a terrible story, insufferable companions and many bizarrely bad design choices.

Excited to download Genesis and see all the hard work you and the team have built.

Also agree with your philosophy on prioritizing critical story lines and quests vs added content and Creations standards.

Genesis is the ONLY reason why I would buy Shattered Space, and it looks well worth $30.

If you need any inspiration for content or story I highly suggest referring to Star Wars Edge of the Empire role playing system

Could you clarify what the minimum GPU requirement is? On the Genesis website it says the minimum GPU is a GTX 3080, but there’s no such thing. Do you mean GTX 1080 or RTX 3080? For reference, I have an RX 5700 XT, which is above the minimum req for vanilla Starfield, but weaker than an RTX 3080, so if the 3080 is the minimum then I will definitely have to use the “Potato PC” settings for Genesis, if I can even get it to run at all.

I put over 300 hours into a vanilla Starfield run. Tried the “NG+” it has, was not a fan. Losing my ship that I built from my initial playthrough? Eff that, eff the starborn crap that is shoved down the player’s throat.This looks fantastic!

you should reduce the movement speed slightly from vanilla. I always felt that the game felt weird cause my character could run and jump like crazy.

This looks even more advanced, BGS should pay you for additional Starfield sales, I wont touch this game in stock form anymore with a mod as great as this.
Only mod I still miss is one that declutters the StarMap and simply removes every planet that doesnt have handcrafted content or story content taking place on it 🙂

Hello, I have a question. I started with 8.2… Vasco in the lodge is a human but with a robot voice. I have an exclamation mark in the launcher, I think it’s a mistake. I still had the Shattered Space DLC and another one installed.
Now I’ve updated to 8.3. When I start a new game, Vasco in the lodge is a robot, as he should be. If I load my old save game, Vasco is human again.
At what point, as you can see in the videos, do Jedi appear in the game, or Chewbacca, and so on. Do I have to progress through the main story first? Everything seems to be working fine, or do you think I should delete everything again, including Starfield on Steam, and reinstall it? Sorry english translate 🙂

I have around 13 years of vfx experience, around 20 as a digital artist – I know most 3d packages across the board – I spent about 2-3 years learning UE5 and feel pretty competent in it overall, I’ve tried to mod 2 games… and failed miserably. Point being, I think moding is much harder then standard in engine game dev so I wouldn’t discount that. Its hard enough to work in a structure you built from scratch and not mess it up through dependencies, I can’t even fathom getting into the depths of intricate system like starfield for entire overhauls.

Side note – I’m working on a historical recreation for a little town in my County for the community historical society. Spent all weekend diving into QGIS and geo spatial stuff, all the math and conversions were tedious to say the least. This was inspiring my dude, reminded me why we make things, so I appreciate that. Nice to see a dev diary not be an impromptu sales pitch and an actual dev diary. – Truly impressive stuff your doing here my friend, keep it up!

I wasn’t interested in buying Shattered Space but I think I’m going to have to now since it’s a requirement for this amazing conversion mod pack. I wish I could send the $30 to you instead of Bethesda because it’s not their product that I think is worth the cost, it is the amazing Star Wars game you’ve created within their shell of a game.

That’s an excellent point. Starfield, as a game is horrendous. As a toolkit for something like this to be created… It’s amazing.

But they didn’t sell it as a toolkit.. they sold it as a full game which was just broken and disgusting.

I’m pretty cheap when it comes to spending my money. I’ll play old games again and again instead of buying new games. I could play this mod for free and it was so good. I ended up donating $100.

I play during 8.2 and it was amazing… And that was before these changes. I took a break because I reached ultimate power level fantasy to where nobody could really be me and I was just destroying the entire galaxy.

Hearing I can now restart and have a longer, more difficult journey with armor and I’m not a mandalorian God right out of the gate…

I hope at some point you can make a patch for Falkland Systems creation, entire thing is Star Wars themed with the sold ship being the Ebon Hawke basically. But that’s obviously less important and more down the line. Really looking forward to when the Rebel storyline is finished! Keep up the great work.

On the subject of fonts, if you’re still looking for potential font changes, I’ve been working on my own Star Wars fan game project and I did a deep dive into old Star Wars game typography. Battlefront 2 (2005)’s main menu uses “Zero Two” and “Zero Three” by Typodermic fonts. They’re under the “public domain fonts package” on the Typodermic website. They’re kind of an old fonts though, so if you’re wanting a modern font that has a very similar style, I’d recommend using Orbitron by Matt McInerney. The entire font family is free on Google Fonts.

Nothing against the font you’ve chosen! (Is it Nasalization by Typodermic?) But I’ve noticed that Star Wars material actually tends to stay away from that type of “Retro Sci-Fi” typography. AurekFonts has a great resource on his GitHub archiving a bunch of Star Wars related fonts if you’re looking for reference.

I don’t often do repeat playthroughs unless it’s a completely different playstyle/questline, because of Starfield allowing you to do virtually everything in one playthrough (except SysDef vs Fleet), repeats become less interesting.

There are 2 mods that could do with a patch to work with this, the first is the one that adds running your own Chunks franchise and the other is the Mining Conglomerate one

Im keeping a close eye on this being a huge Star Wars fan, and unfortunately, a sucker who paid for both the base game of Starfield and Shattered Space, only to be hugely disappointed in both. Proper hyped for this, but I want to jump in at the right time. What’s the likelihood of seeing lightsabers in this? Appreciate there’s already a couple of mods for that, but the animations in Starfield suck for melee. Will we have Sith and Jedi factions?

So the game is set 9 years BBY? Too early for organised rebellion of such a scale. I think putting it something like 1-4 ABY should be more appropriate.

I have a question. I can’t remember which version i played but when i played a while ago all the gear was pretty unbalanced. Like one of the pistol blasters would decimate anyone no matter what and it dropped from a regular dude. Has balance adjustments been made within the last 5~ months?

I legit bought starfield and DLC just for this and ater some time, I have to say that is is a breath of fresh air, aside from the fact that sadly this game is still starfield. Planets feel a little better with the mod on, but in the end theres no other star wars sandbox to enjoy quite like this one, with an immense amout of effort going into this, a baseline structure of starfield which is basically shit and you turned it into a diamond.

Ok… I swear that I would never again touch Starfield. But after seeing this video, I think is time to download a certain mod and return to the game.

It’s a one-man show, I don’t think any reasonable person would care if you use AI… paying for multiple voice-actors is a lot of money and time.

Big, ambitious overhauls like this are what SF needs to not be entirely abandoned by the modding community. Hopefully the franchise stamp brings in more modders to work through the half-baked, heavily outdated design Bethesda’s stuck into the game, so it can be made enjoyable and up to date.

I agree with you, Starfield is such a mixed bag. It has some solid systems, some cool plot elements, sick screenshots, but more than enough empty space to contemplate why you spent so much of your hard earned money on this rather dull experience. I have 493.1 hours in the base game ( as of July of last year) and it just wore me down. That, and the main quest NEVER gripped me. I seriously didn’t care about alternate universes where a few people spawn differently. Yawn.
This might be the thing to get me to reinstall, though I’ve never messed with mods before :/

Damn dude I am so excited to come back to this. I’m eagerly awaiting the completion of the ‘update’ phase, that’s when all the story bits will be done and we can be whoever and not sweat it right?

I’ve always thought it would be a cool idea for an open world starwars game to add planets as DLC like an update to your star charts or because a planet that was under blockade is suddenly available or something. And then each DLC is like the universe growing. Maybe your main character receives an urgent message, to smuggle an object or has to track a bounty, or is sent to conquer for the empire. Whatever reason based on path taken etc. I love this project btw, great stuff.

This is my first time seeing this and it looks amazing. Would be amazing if you have us be able to choose to play as lightsaber users aswell. I dont know if it aligns with your vision but heres a thought, no base building, but be able to buy many many different types of homes and ships on different planets, so if ur a bounty hunter or smuggler you buy a low level home on maybe coruscant and the richer you get the higher you could go, could be a regular white market or maybe even black market trader, could work for the hutts, possibly buy different homes on Tatooine, could just live in your ship as you fly through the galaxy resting on the side of an asteroid, if ur part of the empire you could get a room to live in on a star destroyer or on base and as you rank up in the empire you get better and bigger rooms or even be an inquisitor and live in inquisitorious, could be a mandalorian and live with the mandos, could wipe out a home on dathomir and take it for yourself. Could steal large superships and build ai crews and then capture other npc/ai ships with ur huge ship and steal their stuff, sell their ship or keep it, could find the lost jedi temple and a jedi in hiding who teaches you saber combat if you choose to be a saber user, could find a sith that teaches you those ways, could find the dark saber and learn from the mandos, i know these things would probably be a lot of work, but you would draw in millions of people especially with the right marketing. I am also willing to help you work on this game! I have so many ideas that typing them out would take all day. But mant star wars stans might have many ideas, and sure we dont want this to take 10 years to come out either, so if you could potentially oversee a volunteer group project where people can come in an work on it sharing their ideas and working together that would also be great. Btw are you making it multiplayer or solo?

Edit: i just realized this was a mod so i dont know if many of these things i said would work but if they would, man charge like $2 for the mod, make it a group project, and watch it explode

I only have Starfield on Game Pass and the idea of buying Shattered Space leaves a bad taste in my mouth. At some point in the somewhat distant future I’ll probably get a Starfield complete edition on Steam when it’s like 75%-90% off, but I couldn’t even manage to finish the base game, so it will be purely for total conversion mods like your own, possibly solely for yours honestly.

Ive always had my eye on this project but wow. The editing and showcase here really got me convinced to install this.

Would it be possible to add a means of reforging non mandalorian armor in the beskar forge to give any armor properties of beskar armor? Like upgrades available only at the forge that cost obscene amounts of beskar to upgrade. The lore reason being that you are literally forging new beskar armor in the image of whatever armor you’re upgrading in game. This could be limited to armors that visually cover you completly like clone armor, stormtrooper armor, old republic armor, etc.
