Does Bethesda really think adding manual travel between planets will make people care about this game?
I’d rather them make their Casino useful other than cosmetic. a blueprint of your ship and base builds when you go to a different reality so I don’t have to bounce back and forth between saves to rebuild my ship.
How desperate are we do dig up game coding that may/may not mean anything and we get excited because of coding that does nothing. Sad. 😢
Considering the current state of Star Field, an empty husk of a game with zero life to it, I’d say Betheada is pretty lazy
todd and bethesda are still stretched too thin with projects (and under the crappy supervision that is Microsoft) with Indiana jones, starfield w 2 DLCS and updates, TES6, parts of F3 Remaster, parts of the oblivion remaster, and the fallout tv show season 1 and 2, and maybe fallout 5 and a spin off fallout game, not to mention fallout 76 (that todd probably has to green lit some updates)
sure some projects are now finished and out of the way but they have a loooooong list still and dont have focus on their mainline entries no more

Even if they got rid of the loading screen to enter and exit your ship and certain areas on planets would be good. Make the npcs, city better and would make it at least playable
So instead of a loading screen while fast traveling in space it will be a more immersive loading screen while fast traveling in space.

This game is technically very good and complicated. You can leave an item on a planet in a specific location then return back and it’s still there.
A lot of people may want things put in a game but it’s not that easy without breaking what’s already there.
proper space travel eh? not really, there is so much space dust, the ships would be full of holes 😛 but oh well its fun to imagine anyway.
Actually they added collision to the planets in a undocumented change. There was also the weird bug where all the planets showed up with error messages after an undocumented change. There’s been signs that a space travel overhaul has been in the works for some time, this is just another point on that line.
Seamless planet to planet travel? Random encounters? They’re 1/10th of the way to No Man’s Sky (to be fair, NMS was also a rocky launch, but I feel like they put out updates infinitely faster than the much larger Bethesda).
If they gave Skyrim the same treatment they did for Oblivion remastered I would buy that so fast. Give the players what they want! One more way to buy Skyrim again! 🤣

I feel like the loading screens help with stability. As someone with *thousands* of hours in FO4, you have to quicksave before you open any door because Creation Engine may just decide that new cell is too cool for you and you don’t deserve to play anymore and crash the game. I don’t have to do that in Starfield and crashes have been incredibly rare (YMMV, of course).
Starfailed was an experiment to see if they can do the bare minimum and get gamers to purchase add-ons to complete or fix the game.

It’s worth remembering that Starfield is sitll running on the same engine as Morrowind.
Like the limitations of the engine are why a lot of modders gave up on starfield too.
Introduce a landing sequence where you enter the atmosphere dealing with heat and planetary weather, wind, lightening and of course the interception by attacking ships. Could you be intercepted when you are warping into another solar system while in warp, perhaps by starborn ships?
No man’s sky does it pretty well
Ill give it to ubisoft, star wars outlaws had a great transition from ground to space that starfield should be inspired to do. They used the loading screen as clouds and atmospheric transition to hide it being a loading screen
Not a dev but I understand there’s a lot of work that goes into games, but if GTA can do it 12 YEARS ago, and your “AAA”, first party, “console seller”, game studio can’t, then something is severely wrong.

At this point I think I would prefer them take the DICE approach. Realize you made a bad game, take what you learned and move on. BF6 is shaping up to be really good. Big companies need to take losses to bring them down a notch and actually listen to their fans because that’s where the money is

The reason why Stsrfield has not been released on PS5 is because the game has not passed Q&A (Major bugs found in the ps release) on playstation, after Cyberpunk 2077 Playstation got much more hands on with major releases and It seems Starfield has major memory leaking problems, meaning it gradually looses frames if not restarted after 30-45 min.
The same problem that Oblivion had on PS5 consoles has only been fixed on PS5 pro unfortunately.
There are rumors that Bethesda doesn’t know what to do, to fix it, and therefore may consider scraping the PS5 port.
So major BEWARE if they decide to release it with memory leaked problems, makes the game unplayable on PS5, but will probably work fine on PS5 Pro.. but that doesn’t work, as Playstation needs parity.

There’s a few mods that let you ACTUALLY fly around in space, but I just want a mod, or official release, to be able to space walk.
To ACTUALLY go out my airlock and use my booster pack to stealthy fly to a pirate ship and take it over without having to dock first.
There’s hardly any zero-g combat and that saddens me.

They’re just introducing a new loading screen that cuts out some of the other loading screens to make getting from planet to planet a bit more efficient. Which i suppose is good.
Microsoft should just redistibute bethesdas ips to other studios at this point…im against what microsoft is doing with the gaming industry but since they already own zenimax just give the Ips to other studios since bethesda clearly has no time to work on them all or the competance to make rpgs anymore

Starfield suffered because of consoles. Yes PC can handle instant load times and even the Ps5 but the Xbox series S is very limited and held the game back. Same goes for a lot of bad releases, its very hard to still support that old hardware while designing a modern game.

It doesn’t need 1000s planets, just 12 fully built ones. Would have been fine doenst need space travel.between planets as low speed. It needs more quests. It needs terrormorphs to actually be common enough to be scary. More diverse ship weapons. And better space combat.

The thing is, while I think most people sympathise with this idea that Bethesda should fix their game in the 2 years after release, there’s really no historical precedent for that. This is their MO, and we have to stop giving them so much leeway on it.
Wasn’t Bethesda using the term ‘keep is simple stupid’ in their game design. If that’s the case it will explain the overt use of loading screens.
That amount of cope on that subreddit is just sad.
Bethesda seems to have gotten used to releasing unfinished games and then expecting modders to fix it.
Bethesda has absolutely abandoned Starfield, the last year all the updates since the dlc have been pitiful. Such a big studio with all this talent and Whimmzy and they can’t do anything but make a buggy car to explore empty planets with empty caves and empty mining camps you’ve seen 100 times. Not to mention the cut to black every 5 seconds.
As someone who has about 500 hours into Starfield. 1- really sick of how people are always bashing on it. YES I know its issues, but story and quests I think are better than Fallout 4 and the game was more polished, but Fallout 4 has the better open world. 2- they made a more realistic interpretation of space where there’s not a lot out there, there are big empty planets and big empty distances. It the problem with the engine and type of game they wanted to make with the type of setting and world/worlds they went with. I did not ever think that I needed to be able to fly from one planet to the next, or have a cutscene for landing on the planet that I would have gotten annoyed with. There are other games that do that and thats not what they wanted to do. Either have a loading screen, or have the same animations for landing and flying to planets are the same irritation.
Bethesda has gotten complacent in their game design. After a decade of re-releasing Skyrim, they Just don’t want to innovate. Look forward to the elder scrolls 6 still requiring a separate load just enter towns and then another load screen to enter your individual buildings
They’re lazy, incompetent, or both. It’s really that simple. Modders figured it out, there’s no excuse for Bethesda. Time to stop taking 6-hour lunches, and hire some competent developers.

People are in a sci-fi mood right now. Starfield came out at the perfect time… and still failed. At least the Fallout tv show did well.
Yeah Bethesda was used to working on games on multiple consoles and making them …proficently ill be generous…. I wonder if some acquisition changed the ethos from being platform agnostic into focusing releasing “premium day one titles” for a games as a service platform. I’ll be honest Bethesda lost me at Fall Out 76 which well proceeds the 2020 buy out of Zenimax, but they haven’t exactly won me back since becoming a Microsoft entity. I do find it funny that a ps5 version is the hope that gamer will get what they were promised, but only time will tell if they pull a CDREd and completely botch a release only to stick the landing half a generation later.

Starfield is so frustrating. When Im not playing it, I think Ill try it again. But then I play it and im reminded how unengaging this game is for me. And then I kinda wonder if mods will make it better but then I run out of interest in this game before I get to download them. And I love space games!

See fallout 76 getting a lot of support after the TV show got new people to play. Combat is finally getting properly rebalanced
there’s a lot of the game’s ancient design I could forgive if the quest writing and paths were better. So many felt like an elevator pitch for an interesting quest idea that just never got fleshed out. But just everything about the game felt like the concept of an idea, like major cities that are smaller than college campuses or amusement parks, and definitely less populated.
These things don’t matter because there’s no where worth exploring with a buggy or starship.
This game made it seem like it was a Role Playing Game. Which it is not….

I love this game. I don’t know why people keep whining and bitching about the load screens. They’re only a second or two. They don’t bother me. It’s perfect as far as I’m concerned but I can’t wait for these updates.
Starfields mechanics are so disconnected from each other it’s insane. From what I remember there is a quest in starfield that has a functional hidden load screen, you’re standing next to the pilot in the cockpit when the ship takes off and exits atmosphere seamlessly (might be misremembering tho)
My guess is the reason we got so many loading screens is that at one point some load screens were going to be hidden transitions but they couldn’t decide which ones since different teams were responsible for each part of the journey.
Mindblowing that fallout 4 from 2015 handles almost every shared mechanic better
The Mods Screen on console sucks. Whenever you update a Mod, it automatically is moved to the bottom of your Load Order. I updated multiple at once, not knowing this initially, and it made my game unplayable since the entire load order was fucked.
I really don’t get it, I saw Starfield and thought “that’s fallout in space” and I don’t understand why anyone thought any different. People really thought Bethesda was going to make the most immersive space sim ever made when that’s just not what they do. How long has star citizen been in development and it’s still more broken than it’s not, but Bethesda, who is known for making janky ass games was just going to knock it out of the park. It is nice to know new stuff is coming, and I’m excited to see what comes of all this.

Nexus Mods shows 95 million mod downloads for Starfield. That’s a big number. But I honestly thought it would end up around where Fallout 4 is in 2nd place on the platform. So on one hand, the interest in mods is high when compared to the entire gaming industry, but for a Bethesda game, it’s a rather modest showing. But some of the mods look really high quality.

bruh if Bethesda can make you fly your ship in space (WITH COMBAT) using the creation engine then they can easily add spaceship flight in planets. my guess as to why they didnt do it was because they ran out of time, but now that the game is out they can add it post launch

5:55 the only way i can play oblivion remastered is by putting all settings to low download a mod that optimises the game a bit more and delete a nividia related file even tho i have a amd gpu , like if i put the graphics to medium to high i get stable 40 fps without any ai stuff turned on but when i do that the game would crash after i loading into like areas 4-7 times the game would crash

Would love more space content/ gameplay: 🪐💫.
1. ‘Space-walking’ outside our ship / stations;
2. Twisting wormholes we can manually fly through;
3. Option for crew to fly the ship;
4. Option to leave orbit & New unique/ weird deep space POl’s – in the “blackest sea” between the stars (maybe Temples in space!);
5. Black holes!
6. Giant asteroids we can land on;
7. Space horrors!
8. New unique pirate factions! (both scary sadistic ones; & clever, calculated ones), etc.
9. Lovecraftian alien entities.
10. New full companions & romance options (with evil or neutral morality)
It’s definitely a decision to cut manual space traveling, just trying to pander to a casual audience
Why does it look like Elite Dangerous gameplay?
This is impossible, all the maps are split into 8km instances. This code must be referencing something else, like maybe a drone or a glider. Remember the train in Fallout 3 was just a helmet, they’re probably doing something similar here, they’re going to make something seem like it’s flying but it’s not really flying and it’s probably not the player ship.

I’m still hopeful that BGS can somehow turn things around. Maybe it’s just copium… then again, people wrote off NMS when they also fumbled their game, at launch. HG went radio silent for over 3 months before starting to push out updates… and even then, it took them 2 years to actually get NMS in a proper playable state. Considering HG has a very small fraction of BGS’s resources and manpower, it would really be an embarrassment if they couldn’t muster up an overhaul that would address most people’s criticisms of Starfield.
Maybe if they spent the time on the gameplay experience and not the mod shop/garbage randomly generated planets, the game could have been decent

Starfield’s problems go deeper than any one feature. The story itself is so linear, the choices practically non-existent – for christ’s sake, the majority of NPCs are essential! You can’t kill quest people!

Starfield for me would of been perfect if the story and world was more like mass effect but in a Bethesda style(don’t know if that be too much like skyrim with many races in space but i don’t care) space travel like “no man sky”. I got Starfield as a gift with my CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D and don’t know I tried opening the game played it for maybe a few hours and I realized that I have outgrew Bethesda games at least for now I have tried older ones and didn’t make any difference. I hope it will change in the future.

I feel like they bungled the core experience so bad that it just doesn’t feel like the best use of their time trying to change it now. Shattered space wasn’t a great expansion either. It just feels like a foregone conclusion at this point. Id rather they focus their attention on upcoming games to ensure they don’t mess up the core experience of those games as well.
