I’m just getting back into starfield and found these videos I’m gonna binge all of them pls don’t stop them
Bethesda did the game such a disservice with the horrible UI. Getting rid of diegetic interfaces is one example. Finding and reading books or notes in Starfield just feels so unimmersive.
The value of this mod could be increade by making unique textures for the datapad for each of them maybe. As if it was a book cover. Also someone should really make new UI elements for books and notes. If properly done I would definitely pay for that.
In my opinion for something like this it should be more, like if I was good at writing I would probably do volumes on a single long running story where you collect each part to get the full picture and I would have done a custom dataslate skin (though I’m pretty sure I am the only author who has released dataslate skins) for each story so they could even be displayed in an outpost or home as a collection but i think crucially once you got all parts of a story it then kicks off a quest to find a loot cache or something, basically something to warrant the player wanting to collect each slate in the story beyond just that. Then your Vol 2 becomes a whole new story with different slate skins and quest.
There was a mod added recently that was literally just about characters being able to take dumps. 😑
Yeah, I think I’m done with Starfield for a while.
Not a terrible idea, ive seen these types of mods back on skyrim but most of them were either free or added a substantial amount of books
I passed on this Creation when I saw it, because I was also conflicted on its value, but then after you read the first two stories, I may actually support this Creator with purchasing it. Only 100 Credits, and I get more incentive to boarding Ships and collecting them all, and eventually they may release a Volume II of this Creation. I will roll it around in my head a while longer, but right now I am seriously considering purchasing it, just so Starfield has more story content until Bsthesda adds more. The Creator was wise in making these stories ambiguous, on whether they are true stories, or fictional ones within the universe, to explain any discrepencies. At first glance I thought it was like Captain’s Logs from Star Trek.
Great highlight. Honestly i am a sucker for the books and collecting. Still a pass for me though.
Out of curiosity, how many total hours do you have in starfield with all the mod testing, etc?
Keep doing the great work! Your positivity towards the gamd and community is contagious.
My thinking is the paid part is so ppl can read these and not mess up achievements. I also think these stories give some depth to the npc’s kinda like the old Dime novel’s back in the wild west days.
If I wanted to read a book, I’d read a book.
I’ve got around 40 days of playing this game according to Xbox and I’ve never seen a ecliptic satellite 😂
Another mod author trying to nickel and dime the playerbase for the smallest additions to the game possible.
I believe the starfield ecliptic satellite is vanilla. I see them and I am not using the starfarers mod/creation.
Thanks to @Ravvynfall for the mod and @Crimson for the commentary. For a Euro, can you go wrong? In for a penny in for a pound.
Time 4:54 , Crimson, you are such a polite border, who could possibly resist your charms, especially when are=med with the Fang!
One small problem, isn’t the Head Ranger, The Marshall and not the sheriff?
As for the writings… Since they’re found in Captains Lockers, it’s more reason to board and capture than just destroy.
Writers deserve to make money from their work.
If they charged more… maybe, but what if it was a famous author’s work?
Might be worth more.
Ecliptic sattelle is vanilla 😀
So write fan fiction, put it in the game and ask money for it ???.
A bit of additional pulp fiction into the game is ok, but for the money it would be great if they were tied to some small reward for finding. Perhaps a hidden crate coordinate with an item that ties to the story?
I feel like these stories should lead to unique poi in how you find the vultures roost with a note pad, they could be like treasure hunts leading to these long lost places.
Yes, totally agree I have mixed feelings about this one too. The stories are decent and seem lore friendly but like most in the game are effectively short stories. I am glad this one is 100 credits though, it’s sad I need to be grateful for that in the current state of paid mods but I am sure there are some verified creators out there that would have asked for more and Bethesda would have had no issue. So glad the author put what effectively would be the lowest price on it. I have modded some books in the forms of logs and communications inspired by the black box and captains log mod. It was certainly easier to do than the texturing and meshing I’ve been messing about with but good writing takes time too so I don’t know what to think about this being a paid mod. I would have liked to see more stories at least as the mod I just referenced and there is at least one other story mod out there that adds multiple more books/dataslates for free. I guess what I want paid mods to be is gameplay improvements, unique experiences, something with replayability that I can go back to and say that was a good investment in my long term enjoyment of the game. As it has a different life each playthrough. 10 books are likely not enough to give me the same randomness in discovery that a free mod with many more would.
Crimson, if you’ve written a book, how about make a mod like this but with each data slate only a page.
