I’ve actually noticed a big spike in downloads for my mods, so i think starfield is actually making a come back

Honestly I enjoy your channel for being one of the only places in YouTube where you can talk about Starfield without getting yelled at. Hope you don’t start shifting your content to prioritize negativity and hate to chase clicks. Have zero interest in these general “rant” videos. Hope you don’t take this the wrong way. Cheers!

I am using a couple of Gothos mods and they add a lot to my playthroughs. Basically transforming my whole game in a very positive way. In the end, nobody is forcing you to buy a creation. You can even refund creations.

Furthermore, modding is and will forever be something that comes with issues. We are talking about mods, not official content. Even if you pay the mod authors for the work they provide. And some things come just down to your own decision making. It is not hard to find out how scaling in Bethesda games work and that it cannot be done without issues. So I haven’t bought that creation. Looking through existing mods made me realise that I already have most of the stuff Sanctuary offers in my LO, so I did not buy it. In both cases, no hard feelings against the mod author. If I just go in blindly and throw my money at stuff it’s my own fault.

And can we please stop acting like 5 bucks is a lot of money? 5 bucks in todays world doesnt get you anywhere. Skins in most games where you cannot even see them while playing usually cost more. Would it be cool if his mods were cheaper? Sure. But again. Its YOU who can freely decide if you want to buy them or not. You are not entitled to this persons work. If you want to use his work you pay the price he asks.

11:20 there is a portal on the Bethesda website for reporting mod theft. Not sure how effective it is or if mod authors know about it but it does exist.

    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

The two accounts is because when you become verified Bethesda allows you to change your name (move to a professional name). However if you do that name change that is offered the account splits. I asked a couple of modders how it worked after achievement friendly bedlam came out to make sure someone wasn’t stealing free content.

    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

08:20 …see, that’s the problem though. We can’t reasonably critique a Modder like GOTHOS25 properly, when all of their Mods are arguably 10x more useful than or substantial than something like Constellation Plushies ($3), Creature Plushies (also $3), and cosmetic Mariner Habs ($10), all of which do nothing to improve or enhance gameplay.

Though I agree that GOTHOS25 should be held accountable, at what extreme though if we’re not going to address Bethesda and their “slop” (The Vulture, $7), with the same energy? In the end, we end up looking like huge hypocrites. 🤷

Only mods I’ve paid for were a few vehicle and the higher-end weapon mods (plasma weapons and the Allied armsments pack) those are what good mods are, ontop of the watchtower and outfitters mods. I’ll usually try free versions of the mods first and if I feel like they’d stay permanently in my load order, ONLY THEN would i buy the paid version to support good Mod Authors (that don’t overcharge.. i.e. 300 creds for like 3 weapons and ammo types that get added to the leveled list and shops doesn’t sound unreasonable imo). Also, your vids have deterred me from spending money on some of the admittedly asinine mods that break the game or xbox.

I always assumed that modders with the “Verified Creator” label were handpicked by Bethesda to represent quality work, i.e. their mods would integrate well with vanilla and offer something special or unique. Your reviews have opened my eyes and saved me a lot of money!

    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

Hey crimson you have a pretty big impact on the paid modding community and you need to stop making claims with zero proof while emotional. I mean the apex terrormorph mod not being patched but not causing issues means it was an issue on your end back then, yet you ranted as if it was the modders fault then couldn’t even admit you might have made a mistake now.

You have a responsibility to be better, it’s good you call our bad paid modders but you neee to hold yourself to a higher standard. What you say matters and shifts peoples opinions, look at this comment section of people thanking you for saving them money. Your word means something now so maybe it’s time to be more cautious about what you say and how you say it.

Speaking of the dead horse, I’ve definitely mentioned before that the “marketplace” model for paid mods is the wrong approach. It should be a “high end showroom” or bust approach. Back when it released, I immediately put McClarence Outfitters as the gold standard for what a paid mod should be: high quality, integrated within the game universe, something you interact with and grow during your playthrough, and supported beyond its launch day.

    • @JRedcorn
    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

Starfield is and will be the only game I ever spend money for mods on simply because it requires them to be a complete game and i already played the intro so i cant refund. It will also be my last bethesda game because of the (“massive”) lie we were sold as Shattered space.

    • @nolgroth
    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

Particles aren’t overpowered. They are more convenient, but try running 4×3 (Power) Pulse Lasers plus 4×3 (Power) Auto cannon. Even though they would, in theory, take 24 power, set them to 6 each.

Now go to war. Pick a ship, strip its shield with the lasers, switch to guns. By the time you get the kill, your lasers have recharged. Rinse and repeat.

Because Lasers and Ballistic weapons do more Shield or Hull damage than the equivalent Particle weapon, they are more efficient.

Particles are extremely useful in limited power situations where loading up the above combo is not viable. Low level, Particles are king. Mid level up, Lasers and Ballistics please.

Particles also make for convenient turrets, but at the C-class, higher tier, there is a Laser turret that’s nearly as good.

I bought 3 of his mods in Skyrim because I thought they were cool additions, but man that pricing is ridiculous. His mods don’t even add that much but they at least work, but the price is what made me stop buying them.

    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

I got Watchtower because I heard it was good. But I didn’t know HOW good. It’s like official dlc. Blew my mind and actually captivated me way more than the main story or Shattered Space. Like you said, incorporated correctly, paid mods can be great (especially from Kinggath). But this slop you cover is nice to know what to avoid.

    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

I think this Mod Author simply changed their name at one point and they couldn’t update the name attached to the old mods. Their nexus page has the new name. Otherwise there are definitely some poor decisions for some of these paid mods… too bad. I like some of their free mods.

    • @franknitty8460
    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

A lot of these mods are NOT being properly tested and crash consoles. Bethesda should do a lot better by their player base, who buy the way buys their games.

PS! Since we are talking about paid mods at large: Maps breaking by paid mods! An important announcement (important in my humble opinion anyways).
Several paid* mods disable internal surface maps in the game without any caution or foreword in the mod description (this especially happens when the mod alters the physical spaces / objects etc. inside the aforementioned interior maps).

Examples: Lost Art of Alchemy: Disables the Well map.
Modular Melee: Disables the Well map.
The Icarus Device: Disables Neon map.
    Crater 87: Disables Cydonia map.
    Venera: Disables the Well map.
There is another (forgot about it) that breaks the New Homestead surface interior map.
There could be more that I haven’t purchased or don’t know about yet.

IMHO if a mod is paid; at least 3 things should happen.
1-A paid mod shouldn’t be breaking games default interior maps at all.
2-If it still does; it should be explained in the description page of the paid mods.
3-It should be patched by the mod author.
Some of the paid mods (that disable interior maps) have been around quite a while and still break the maps to this day. Some are more recently released but still the same issue.
I think a modder issued a fix (a line of code/command to be edited in) in order to resolve the issue but I’m not certain if it works, haven’t tested it myself.
Or else; if this issue is ”unavoidable”; then modders simply should leave the interior surface maps out of their questlines (most don’t take place in those areas anyways, they just use them as ”quest starter points” and use some other space (not part of the interior map of a major city etc.) to start their quest. Coz; it’s not nice to pay real $$ and then notice (without any caution) that the mod by itself disables unrelated core gameplay elements (maps) of the game by itself.
If this issue is the same for other players as well; wish Crimson and fellow content creators on Youtube would make a video to inform and or warn us (players) about it. It would be interesting to watch and to get some heads-up.

Sanctuary is 1 of 2 i asked bethesda for a refund for. I specifically asked in the author’s discor before buying if tge named generic crew changes would work with a specific set of other generic crew mods. Getting a yes, I tried it and nope, complete conflict (the name piece was all i cared about).

And now, after your recording they released a paid AF of Revelation (another aged25 free mod) abd asked 300 eith no updates from the free version)

At what point does the ubiquity of mediocre or outright scammy paid mods become an indictment of the system as a whole? From my perspective, as someone opposed to paid mods (though not opposed to creators making money via other means, donations or patreon, for example) this was always going to happen. The concerns over implentation that were raised in the OG 2015 debate have proven prophetic. Kingath is what paid modding might have been — but, instead, his mods are now the exception that proves the rule.

Bedlam is awesome and well worth 300 creds and there is a free version too. I think the other mods are alright just too expensive for what they do. I think the best one is the Terramorph mod though agree with CF 200 creds would be a more balanced pricepoint.

About mods for Starfield in general I think people didn’t buy the lore very much, that’s why you see all these mods that have nothing to do with Starfield lore.
For myself I’m one of them, I can speak about Fallout and Elder Scrolls lore for hours straight, all my mods for this 2 games have to pass my “lore friendly check” before I install it, but I don’t know why I can’t care about Starfield lore or even the main 4 companions, I love the game itself, have more than 400 hours on it but didn’t like the lore and companions.

    • @BradyisAwesome20
    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

Bethesda doesn’t care about us. It’s that simple. They haven’t cared for a long time. As a buyer of the 300 dollar collector’s edition of Starfield, Bethesda is dead to me

    • @qmarkp98
    • 2025年 7月 06日 9:55pm

I just want to say how much I truly appreciate your videos crimson. Initially I didn’t like Starfield when it came out, but now that I’ve been playing for the last 5 or so months, I absolutely love the game and as a Bethesda fan I finally GOT IT. But the mods are a huge part of it. And oh boy I was angry at pay mods. But then I found miss o plays channel about Starfield decoration, then I found out the guy from SIM settlements was making mods for Starfield, those two were the first two mods that I ever bought. And they were totally worth it. You could feel the effort of the modders. I bought a couple more, and I still have the credits because I watch your channel waiting for a mod that actually convinces me. you’ve been a guide in this Starfield mod journey, and it’s been so freaking fun, I feel like the early days of modding on console for Skyrim, but more complicated and with money at stakes lmao
Anyway I just wanted to say thank you, and remind you that if we keep talking about it, and playing the game, we’re doing the best we can to help Starfield survive and maybe thrive.
    Anyways, hello from Mexico🎉

Bedlam is not even his only great mod. Desolation, Ascension, Apotheosis and Take Your Time are some of the best mods around. He also did “At Your Own Pace” for Skyrim, which is one of the most popular mods for that game. These recent mods are really disappointing when you look at his output.
