Seriously… Has Bethesda Deserted Starfield or What?
Layoffs aside, Microsoft has had a pretty solid year with video game releases. Despite blockbusters like Fable and Gears of War: E-Day launching next year, it’s already delivered some big games.
However, there have also been some notable misses and outright missing titles, particularly Bethesda Game Studios’ Starfield. Touted as one of the biggest games of all time back in 2023, it would quickly slip into obscurity, even among some fans of the developer. Last year saw several updates and the horrendous Shattered Space expansion, but this year has been…quiet, aside from that minor update.
What’s going on? Where’s the second expansion, or at least the announcement for it? When is Bethesda going to announce all the “exciting things planned” for 2025? That is the question.

Combat: 4/10
*It’s there
Exploration: 1/10
*Big idea, didn’t pay off
Characters: 1/10
*dialogue sounds AI generated
Story: 0/10
*Basically a long series of fetch quests with the big pay off being NG+ (game doesn’t even want you to continue your own story after the main quest)
Side quests: 3/10
*Some “okay” others pretty bad, nothing overlaps, nothing you do really matters or impacts the world around you.
Space combat: 5/10
*Not for me, but I can see why others may like it
Settlements: 7/10
*Actually enjoyed it more than Fallout 4 and how it wasn’t necessary or in your face.
Crafting/looting: 2/10
*Who has time to collect junk and dedicate skill points to unlock a blueprint just so you can build things… Extremely boring and tedious
2077 is no where close to what they promised, but its a pretty good FPS with a story so they just forgot about it being RPG with choices and stuff and made it best possible FPS. NMS was working on the base level from the start and lacked features + some gameplay issues ofc, east to fix if you want. This is the main difference, you cant fix Starfield cause there is nothing to fix, it does not have a working base level, basic features of previous Beth games. Space travel – no, exploration – no, its not a good FPS game as well, even “side story lines” are bad compared to last 3 TES games or even F4. Cant wait to see TES6, its failure will be glorious.
I think we won’t see the real damage done from Starfield’s disappointment won’t show up until the next new Bethesda game releases.
I fully expect pre-orders and early sales are going to be muted due to heightened player skepticism.
You are only encouraged to take good and popular decisions so story became shallow
its a great game
Such a disapointment and I did invest a lot of hours but the game is souless due to the crap ai generated enviroments, every planet is basically the same with zero exploration. The recent buggy addons also just feel like a gimmick with arcade physics and doesn’t address any of the core gameplay issues. Which is a shame as the game can look amazing and has so much potential – yet another game releeased to soon!
Poor game design killed it between the loading screens and Legos for the kidults it was over
This is what happens when you go from “for the fans” to “for the money”. The game is/was good it’s Bethesda thats bad now.
What will make me come back to Starfield:
1. Add an option for me to refuse to steal from petrov
2. Let me fly the artefacts into the sun.
3. Make all the pirates unessential.
4. Don’t make me enemies of sydef when i refuse their extortionist demands. Let me later choose to return to them with the legacy if i have it.
5. Let me tell constellation to f off and how useless they are as a group.
6. Let me say how uninteresting the artefacts are to me.
7. Let me hand the artefacts over to the starborn.
8. Let me rescue villages… idk… something exciting and heroic.
9. Let geological survey be a huge side quest in itself. Find important resources for the surveyors dept. Hire a geologist to help design some geological puzzles and minigames. I’m a geologist. I’m offering.
10. Let interplanetary travel be immersive and interactive and perilous, with obstacles and anomalies, instead of a loading screen. It is already possible to do with mods, but you still need to ‘fast travel’ to the planet in front of you before you can even fast travel to the surface. Have a trigger box that loads these options when you get near.
11. Get rid of repeated POI and make me actually have to go LOOKING for them.
Games are tanking these days
There’s no such thing as a dead game. I’m so f****** sick of people using that term. If you want to play the game you can play the game, so it’s not dead. Just because a huge player base doesn’t exist anymore doesn’t mean the game is dead. I stayed away from this game for over a year because of all the negative reviews and I wish that I hadn’t. I just started playing it a week ago and I think it’s a fantastic game and I can see myself putting 1,000 hours into this game with multiple playthroughs. All you review people are shocked that they’re not making more content for the game after you all review bombed it when it came out. Do you think Todd Howard has any motivation to continue to work on the game if everyone says that it’s s*** and has given up playing it? It’s because of you people that they stopped supporting the game
They need to make it multi player
You cant just put out an above average videogame anymore. You must sacrifice your firstborn to the gaming community. 😂😂
well, since Todd Howard is the “Most Disgusting direct Liar in the Gamesindustry” would suspect nothing out of his mouth to be true
Not only did Todd not realize that the open world became the only reason people play his games anymore, but he also considered it A-OK to have a total of 15-ish total dungeons in the whole freaking game, but duplicated around his 100 planets. SAME loot, SAME enemy placements, SAME EVERYTHING. Fella lost touch completely when his head got lodged up his own rectum after Skyrim.
3:32 what game is this?
Starfield is like my job. Repetitive.
2023 the best years in gaming ? You eighter are joking with that one or eating to much shit, eighter way 2023 was not the best year in gaming.
Make it so that we don’t only have 7 copy/paste dungeons. Like, at least randomize the layouts.
Shittered Space would’ve been the perfect name for this game…
Todd made a game for himself. Good for the snake that he is. He can play it all day long. We won’t.
I played Cyberpunk OG at launch & i would take that over Snorefield every day of the week it was so rotten
Starfield doesn’t feel like it was made by people. If it came out that it was the first game made 100% by AI I wouldn’t be surprised
nice now I really want to play it since no annoying wokes updates
I am a Starfield enjoyer. I’m curious, is it that most people truly dislike Starfield or is it mainly due to disappointment from expectations?
The thing that stops me playing anymore is the same 5 points of interest on every single planet. Why would I want to visit the same building over and over?
Starfield had immense potential. But that’s all it’s ever had.
The main problem of Starfield is, that it falls short on every aspect Bethesda games normally excel at, while having multiple competitors that do every aspect a lot better. Starfield is just utter mediocrity cast in code and built on an outdated engine with outdated game design. It has not one single standout feature for a current gen game. Even the music and atmosphere, things Bethesda usually nails, are just bland and mid. It’s as sterile as a lifeless moon.
It’s a soul(e)less game.
I love Starfield it’s a really fun game once you understand some of the mechanics yes the space combat could be better yes the loot could be more diverse but all in all it’s a great game.
4:03 I was lucky buying Cyberpunk 2077 not until last year. It is now one of the best games I ever played.
Just bought Starfield. Was wary of buying the game at launch and pre-order because of Fo76 (which is NOW a good game). Starfield requires quite a few “Quality of life” changes; UX seems a bit clunky overall. Starfield should not be abandoned at all. Let the player base inform BGS what they would like to see in SF. Maybe a new race and new home worlds? Maybe faction rep or a galactic civil war? Who knows.
Simply put, had Bethesda applied themselves as much as they did in their previous games (before Fallout 76), Starfield could have been a truly great epic RPG. Instead, it turned out to be one grand pile of poo. I will never believe Todd Howard and his marketing rhetoric again.
I hope they have.
They should have never made starfield.
The game was trash, is trash, and will always be trash.
TES 6 should have always been their ONLY focus after FO4
Personally I thought they just went the wrong way from the start.
Should have been a situation where you don’t know what the main quest is for a while, a general frontier hub where you get a bunch of potential quests and faction content and then only when you’re leaving does a ship get attacked by some sort of marauders forcing you to either run away yourself or team up with the hub defense team to save the crew of the downed ship from their attackers. Then only when you finally go to the Constellation HQ do you have a run in with an artifact showing you are one of the people that is effected by them either because you saved the crew and then chose to deliver their package while they were repairing and recovering or you went there for some other reason and bumped into an artifact and “had an experience.” Then instead of putting you on a single track they let you go this way or that, become a merchant, a pirate, a bounty hunter, a pirate hunter, or whatever with some deep faction quest lines for all sorts of different choices.
I’m just slowly modding this game into Star Wars so it actually has some personality. Thank you Bethesda for making a template for a better gane
So many people are playing this game wrong……
Played Starfield on release. Took a month to beat the game. I was glad when it was all over Lol. Not the worst game I played but I really wasn’t enjoying it. Thank god I only paid 5 dollars on PC game pass
people ranted against ubisoft which is delivering better then this bs company called betzeltheta
played it once……never touched again. ill play it in 10 years then like all the other bethesda BS games
For me it was the cut and paste bases. You have to go and interact with these things on different planets and they are literally the EXACT same in every instance. They made few different bases but just put them, completely intact, on all the different planet with zero variation. There will always be a mob here or a loot there, nothing changes based on where you are. That’s beyond lazy. You aren’t “exploring” anything if someone just cuts and pastes the content for all the planets. They could have, at the very least, randomized mobs and loot and clutter conditions but nope… 100% the exact same thing regardless of what planet you are on. Even Daggerfall did it better in 1996, the locations were simple and procedurally generated but not all identical copies of one another.
Finally played for 115 minutes today. Got to New Atlantis. Full refund on Steam. I just couldn’t. I was so bored and it felt so clunky.
When they said 1000+ planets to explore i knew the game was going to be trash.
Completely soulless game that is loading screen after loading screen after menu after loading screen after menu and running running running through boring landscapes and maybe you’ll shoot something sometimes. I am a massive Elder Scrolls and Fallout fan, but Starfield is ass.
They really were banking on this being the Skyrim successor. So much so that Microsoft purchased all of Zenimax to keep it away from Sony. I think the game has a great premise; you’re an astronaut explorer trying to uncover “what’s out there” and stumble upon mysterious artifacts that give you powers. But the lack of a morality system like Fallout’s karma and only goodie two shoes companions and only four who are romanceable, as well as the endless loading screens in between planets and buildings just destroyed the game. The Powers from Beyond missions are repetitive just like Oblivion’s Oblivion Gates and acquiring the Sigil stones.
I don’t think that this game is going to see a large overhaul. It’s kind of the opposite of cyberpunk 2077. That game had a good foundation but a ton of bugs on release. Starfield seems to have been very stable upon release for a Bethesda game, but the game itself just isn’t retaining people’s attention.
No seem less planets no seem less landings and the game is still pricey AF 😡
I just want to be able to grow potatoes on Mars. Is that so much to ask?
Gaming channel 1: this food is terrible.
Gaming channel 2: yeah, and the portions are too small.
I hope they abandon this steaming pile of shit, they just need to release e6 so I can finally decide if they’re done or not
Game is beyond repair . No mod or patch can fix it
Ai SLOP!
5-10 planets would of been enough
I got through about 2 hours of this game playing it on gamepass and just never went back.. It just felt souless and lifeless. Just bland NPC walking around, and a stroy you just dont give a damn about with so much lore, honestly Id rather watch a show about the different faction wars than actually play the game. I still go back to Skyrim, Fallout 4, Witcher 3….but this game I was excited to play but cant bring myself to ever go back.
I think the DLC will be shadowdroppwd
Bethesda, like other AAA companies, has become bloated and rigid in its corporate culture and design philosophy. Much like Detroit in the 60’s and 70’s, they have become too entrenched in group think and holding on to legacy practices. For Detroit, the lesson came from Japanese car companies who were more nimble and responsive to customer needs. For the gaming world, Indie developers have shown that a very small team with a small budget can produce near-AAA games. Detroit learned its lesson, Bethesda has not shown a willingness to do so. Which is why I give ES6 a slim chance at success.
I was underwhelmed and got bored very soon. Didn’t pass 2-hour mark. Glad I got it for free (bonus from AMD).
I think there’s no point of improving it unless they commit to massive overhaul. Abandon it and do better (much better) on the next game.
Also, they were counting on the modders to keep the game alive.
Fallout 4 had over 300 individually designed marked locations.
Starfield had about 40. This includes every fast travel point in the city hub.
The game didn’t even try.
i found the core of the game to be quite good. the problem for me was the writing, the plot, the companions, and the wokeness. I’m so sick of the overused “multiverse” in modern entertainment
Gamers ended this game. Over the dumbest things.
“Omg these npc’s arent reacting like they do in skyrim”
“The water physics is trash 😢”
“I cant fly into the atmosphere of a planet like no man’s sky”
The people are the problem. Always have been always will be. Bandwagon > Any story or gameplay.
People love the hate train. And that is why you shouldnt care what people think, because they dont think AT ALL.
Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 update is what killed my interest for playing this game and Phantom Liberty as well
Still haven’t finished it yet and I bought it at launch.
Got about 90% in main game and got bored working round bugs and their really stupid design choices. While there were a few highlight missions/locations the story never really gripped me and just got repetitively boring.
Thats because xbox is now dead
I’ve 100% cyberpunk, something I’ve never done for any Bethesda game
What was that patchy voice editing at @5:02
Been playing on gamepass and its been quite an experience, but still not convinced enough to bought the game itself on steam, im gonna await for the next dlc if it ever drops.
This is still one of the best rpgs I’ve ever played especially with mod support and starship customization. I have put more hours into this game then any other game I’ve ever played.
I hope. That game was a dead end. Allocate those resources to Fallout. And don’t F up Fallout with endless loading screens.
I didn’t even finish this game It was so boring. I forced myself to get through over 120 hours and every time I try to pick this back up I last maybe an hour or two at most.
13 million pissed off players… absolute bridge burner, want nothing to do with Bethesda after this.
They tried an expansion. It was about like peeing in the ocean. The peasants were displeased with their scraps.
Some ships cannot be salvaged.
I played in the beginning. Got bored and moved on. Went back a few months later after a couple updates. Started playing and enjoying it then hit a bug where I couldn’t get the powers because the ring thing didn’t show up. Okay, went back to the story. Then a story quirk led to a main character that was required to continue the story getting killed. I had cleared my extra saves and didn’t know this was going to happen. So I would have had to play back through several hours to get through it. F.. that, its not worth the time. left a bad taste in my mouth towards Bethesda.
I recently tried to take another look at Starfield. I added a ton of mods from creations and from Nexus. UI updates, weapons, cosmetics (gear, gore & guns), 4k reshades, a few new quests, ship and outpost expansions and a combat overhaul. The biggest problems are still that the story is boring, bugs (worse with mods) and the load screens. It’s a 6/10 at the core, how do they fix that? It says a lot about the world building with so many Star Wars mods.
If they’re releasing on Playstation then they have a big opportunity. That’s a last chance to impress someone. Fix and expand the in-game content and those new fans might even spend money on mostly low quality creation mods lol.
I played through starfield twice, so i didn’t find it “bad” per se, just aggressively……”meh.” It has that undeniably fun Bethesda loop, clearing locations and looting, but it would have been better served if focused on one or two good planets, instead of the endlessly repeating handful of locations across blank slate planets. It doesn’t even take long to start noticing the same abandoned factory at 30% of all locations…..just disappointing really……
Kinda dumb that cyberpunk dlc has different system requirements than the base game. They cut themselves off
Why wouldn’t they abandon Starfield?? They’re a company and have to make money, constantly
Cutting off the “dead weight” is usually their first step
I blame myself for buying Starfield when it came out. You see, I already knew the words “procedurally generated” were a massive red flag! I also knew that one or two well crafted star systems would be much better than 50, it’s just real world logistics. Bethesda does one thing really well though – The Hype Train.
Bro. They abandoned it because channels like this one hyped it up so normies forget that todd howard is a serial liar bought the game. Once it was found to be a mediocre mess, it was too late for refunds and they could drop a single dlc and leave with the cash they stole from all the gullible idiots. Itll happen again when they release ES6 in 10 years
Starfield is a bethesda open world exploration driven RPG without the open world and with no worthwhile exploration. It also has the worst writing and lore of any Bethesda game by a country mile. Narrative might not be Bethesda’s strongest quality but past games were still mostly good in this regard. Starfield had me scratching my head right from the moment one of the first guys you meet just gives you his ship. From my perspective its not salvageable, to work as an open world exploration RPG it needed fully explorable planets with seamless planetary surface, flight, orbit and interplanetary travel, then they would have had a fighting chance of evoking the magic in this setting. Without it, its just meh story telling in repetitive procedural bases strung together by loading screens.
I checked out after I get a load screen when getting through a door my ship and entering with exiting planets
They went all-in on procedurally generated slop and cut & paste. There’s very little actual choice or rpg mechanics. It’s also extremely dumbed down. You get a better sense being in a sci-fi adventure when riding Space Mountain
The next thing for this game will bea ps5 release 😆 🤣
Bethesda has DUG ITSELF quite a…hole. They release the thing and it STILLS needs a BUNCH of work. The HAVE TO make Elder 6 and THAT requires a BUNCH of WORK. They are consulting on the tv show and there’s has to be pressure for something Fallout, OTHER than 76. Which WILL require a BUNCH of work. Their “plate” seems waaayyy too full and they’re messing sh*t up left, right and center. Their “mindset” is to put fishing into a game so THAT they can try to SELL $30 BAIT packs. THAT’S their…”focus”. Maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll put…fishing into Slopfield.
5:01 that probably hits different 😀
I thought that game was legit siiick when I binged it for the first few hundred hours, but Bethesda forgot about it and so did I.
Starfield was the biggest disappointment of this generation, so far, in my opinion. Such a bloody shame 🙁
“Deserted Starfield”? They released the game. It’s not a live service title, people.
I would hope so? It had its run, made its fans, let’s move on? Its bad enough skyrim was rereleased a million times, lets all be happy the company is making another game.
Is it baffling…? I mean is it really baffling?😮 The answer is No.
I would’ve been fine with the random generated landscapes if they added more than like 10 landmarks. Going through a cryogenic research lab for the 100th time is tiresome.
I only played a few hours. All the tedious, boring, souless running around and busy work of the early missions, the complete diaconnect betweeen the world and exploration/space travel (you can just fast travel from anywhere to anywhere and it juat breaks the whole thing) and just about every other reason anyone has to say that its bad. Suffice to say, probably the biggest gaming dissapointment of my entire life.
New Vegas has more players than Starfield does right now. Fallout 4 has more than x6 the players. Skyrim has 7x the players.
It’s so dull and boring, it’s too casual, game mechanics literally don’t matter and the list goes on and on.
I love starfield, but its nearly impossible to get through a full game without the save file becoming corrupted (with mods)
Can we stop dickriding Bethesda now?
either abandoned or they’re gone underground pulling off a no man’s sky/cyberpunk hopefully it’s the latter
Bethesda didn’t abandon the game. They created a “mostly” empty sandbox and created the Paid Mods system.
I don’t think I’ll ever buy a bethesda game again just out of principle. Their fumble of elder scrolls and fallout combined with lazy skyrim rereleases and paid mods not to mention games full of bugs. I’m good I’ll play avowed or tainted grail
When you joined constellation they tell you “we dont care what you do in your free time as long as you help us look for these things we want to find!” Then they all get pissed at you if you aren’t 100% good all the time removing any choice for what type of character you’d like to play as. Even being a pirate is lame if you board a ship of any type even the spacers who attack you, your companion will flip out on you because somehow killing spacers on a planet is fine but killing them on their ship is crossing the line! Also they lied saying your choices have an effect on the game. No they do not. Play any quest that has a “choice” and no matter what dialog you pick the outcome it the same. Maybe the reward might change or something but really nothing matters. Todd and his crew all thing we are all a bunch of dumb a$$es and if we keep buying their games then they may actually be correct.
Nothing motivates me to play this game again. Huge disappointment that could have been so much more! Half the planets you can’t land on and it’s nowhere near as vast as what Bethesda claimed it would be. It’s a thumbs down from me
I think the biggest insult is the lack of post support from Bethesda. I mean at least turn on some survival mechanics for goodness sake!
It was the writing that put me off. It’s like they wanted to make the least offensive game as possible so they bubble wrapped everything. You can’t even really be an evil character if you want to.
This game is so bad that mods can’t even save it.
When I bought it I played it on and off for about a month or two. I really had to push hard to keep myself playing but I un-installed. About a week ago I reinstalled it and played for about 6 hrs but was bored out of my mind. It gave me flashbacks to the feeling I had the first time. Just thinking “something fun has to happen soon right?!” And then it never does. Im sad to say as an ES fan I am not hyped for ES6. The only way Im buying it is if it gets amazing reviews and I watch gameplay vids online that look amazing. Otherwise Im 100% done with Bethesda.
First thing first, I got the game for free. Due to upgrading my GPU, my old RX580 died. So it was a nice bonus with new GPU. But I cannot recommend this game. Why? For me, the game fails because the game story is on rails. The quests are A to B, then B to C, then C to D. No choice of outcome. Let ‘s look at a side quest, Free Star Ranger. Now, minor spoiler, it has a fix outcome: “And you should have choice of outcomes, even basic ones like talking to your boss first”. This is the issue for me with star-field: the over all lack of choice, lack of cause and effect, and therefore the consequences of your actions.
Take a look at The Outer World, just as an example. In this game, you could make some basic choices, which would affect the outcome of quests and the game. Do you give the X item to group A or give it to group B, or do you try some-else, like make peace between both groups? Making basic choices which effect the outcome of the quest is what Star Field lacks and cannot sadly recommend this game.
I had my fun with with a free game 140 odd hours played but I happy I did not pay for game and tell you truth I been more happy with discount on my GPU
Made mods literally ruined Bethesda and their games… the game is so bland and boring that the only way to enjoy is by paying for mods… which is their.
This article sounds like AI. The writing is simple and repetitive with a lot of ‘ChatGPT mannerisms.’
This was supposed to be the game for me. A guy in space who could join factions, loot abandoned ships, upgrade your own ship and be a dirty space pirate. Well I was let down within the first half hour. It feels so restrictive, everything is weighed down, it’s endless loading screens, cut and paste locations you’re forever in menus and the graphics weren’t even nice to look at. The ai was dumb and the story/side stories meant nothing.
Had so much hope for this, bought it immediately.
After a while – another same Crashed ship POI… and another, and another… and then it was too late for refund.
I only see self entitled “gamers” not get that Starfield is the perfect Bethesda game, with many new additions to the formula, and set in space with a new IP.
Imo is players that deserted Bethesda and confirmed that 85% of population are just easily influenceable sheeples.
Not getting that put you in the “low iq self entitled hater” category, and makes you an enemy of ANY videogame.
Quit gaming , and you tvrds with a friggin million subs…change job, you’re not good. Go sell some fish.
The Game still crashes!!! Still cant play the game!!!
I just official tools to create custom player/npc skeletons so modders can create famous iconic monsters/aliens/robots from tv and film.
A bethesda game so dissapointing i barely tried it out. I played it for two hours and stopped. Hoping it would get a cyberpunk treatment but no.
Todd’s a pukin liar. What do you expect?
“Most modders have left the game?”… it’s the 3rd fastest Modded game in history. There are thousands of Mods and it they come faster than you can load and try them.
Why is this Even a video they already announced upcoming DLC and is coming to PS5 No the game is not deserted
2023 was an awesome year for gaming? Did I sleep through that year and miss it? because I remember a bunch of games that I didn’t care about
Is this videos voice over AI?
Bethesda will stop supporting the game by the end of the year
NO VR, NO GYRO, NO HAPTICS, NO ADAPTIVE TRIGGERS = DEADBOX
Give them a little time they are busy with the PS5 port. Due to Microsofts smart mid-gen strategy course change, their studios are creating ports for different systems instead of working on new stuff. I wrote this comment via Microsoft Paint, another Xbox. No matter where I look in my room I’m currently surrounded by Xbox’.
I think it has potential. I loved it when I first started playing but gradually got bored. I agree with you, it could be saved, but the base game needs a lot of work. Better quests and more substantial space travel would go a long way for me.
Its just not good
They’ve added loads to the game since release, had regular patches and QoL updates, there’s a second DLC on the way, and because it hasn’t anything new for a couple of months you consider it abandoned? Ridiculous take for a game that isn’t live service.
Essentially the plan being first pay for the game then for a more complete and fun experience pay for the Mods. That’s Bethesda’s approach to Starfield in a nutshell.
It actually makes me sad how it all went. I enjoy the world and the game’s aesthetics. The “NASA punk” is cool looking shit… but the game is just not fun to play – gameplay-wise and story-wise.
Damn the fact that so many videos are practically begging for a good DLC/ update is so sad. Essentially if they abandoned the game early. We’ll always remember starfield as the game with so much potential
They could fix as the game feels very bare bones. However the time and effort would be major as they basically need to put an actual game in there.
If they hadn’t have made this and kept focus on Elder Scrolls they could have pulled the release in from 2534 to 2524
got it for free with my graphic card, sold the code to some poor sob, and i still felt robbed.
I played and finished Starfart once. I have no desire to revisit it.
Oh look, another click bait title with “Starfield is DEAD forreal this time!!!1!”.
It’s barely fucking July.
And you admit that the next expansion is confirmed.
Content creators like you are a big reason public perception is unreasonably bad around this game. To the point people make shit up.
I did enjoy it for a certain point, but it just did not have that feeling like fallout did and I know this game is not supposed to like be like fallout but it kinda is though like it kinda has the fallout feeling, but the areas you explore and not that interesting like in fallout I think what they should’ve done was they should’ve included just planets from from our solar system and another solar system. There should’ve been two types of solar systems that can go to like the solar system. Keep all those planets available and they should’ve kept the Alpha Centauri the western planet was pretty cool like in the guns were all right I never had a chance to play with the powers though in the game I don’t know if they’re any good or not I mostly focused on the side, quest and stuff. I did some of the story missions though. I did the mantis mission which was pretty cool where you got the armor in the ship. I mostly use that ship mostly and I upgraded it and stuff. But yeah, I didn’t really enjoy this game as much as I enjoy fallout. So I just got rid of it. I’m glad I got my money back though. I’m glad I didn’t pay $99 for it. I paid $64 for the whole entire package of the game. It was on sale.
It’s obvious the next update will involve the ps5.
Todd Howard always promises a lot and does not follow up on all thes things he says.
I played via Gamepass on launch bu didn’t stay long. There just wasn’t a whole lot happening, the un-necessary loading creens and the maps which just made traversal around the city was a nightmare. I haven’t played since modding and the expansion ang buggy were released but from what I have seen the expansion is just a whole lot of nothing as well. At this stage I am no sure what Bethesda can do to make it relevant and it will probably be left o modders to make this a game that will actually be fun for any extended period.
they were betting that the fans would generate content for them and monetize that for themselves.
Why would you spend more time on a game, when you have a batallion of two penny modders wannabe charging 10 bucks for unfinished mods? I mean, one of the last patches was actually for an independient mod. Todd did it right, migrate most of the gamers to mindless, low-end product consoles and trap them with the creation bs.
They don’t have to do anything more than some casual maintenance while getting a cut from people who paid for crap.
At least is not an absolute garbage as DA Veilguard.
You people spent two years obsessively shitting on the game, EVEN FUCKIN DID IT IN THIS ONE LMAO—-and you think its baffling theres been no news?
I think the guys and gals at your channel should maybe take a fuckin second and think about what that sort of treatment does for the people who had to make the game. Nevermind the higher ups
The childish, selfish sociopathic pessimism is so fucking old man
just stop buying Bethesda games
they have fugly characters. STOP making your characters “realistic” looking. We want to see hot chicks shoot lasers in tight space suits. wtf is wrong with these developers nowadays. They are so scared to make hot looking character models. who the fuck do you think your audiences are? boys from 12 to men in their 60s all want to see hot looking chicks in their games.
Starfield was designed to be a paid mods platform. Release it bare bones, modders finish it. Bethesda makes money.
2500 hours on starfield and will put more on ut in the future. Even if they don’t touch it ever again im sure i will go back from time to time and ive definitely got my moneys worth 🤷♂️
Let’s just said they didn’t see that coming.
Add some spice to the weapons? It’s not COD but honestly the weapons in this game feel very satisfying and are more fun than any of the other weapons in previous Bethesda games. Plus there are so many with so many variations how can you get bored with them?
Say it ain’t so, Bro 😭
No please don’t make videos like this, it’s just a platform to get a bitch fest going, and make a quick buck. Everyone shares their ” precious opinions ” about the game….. Game is not bad at all, infact it’s very good, it’s just that Bethesda needs to give us something juicy now.
Who cares i played 10 hours of Starfield it was a boring empty game even for a gamepass game it wasnt worth playing nobody is asking for more Starfield at this point.
2023 wasnt hailed the greatest years of video games….. Gamespot youre such liars
I loved starfield, after I married Sarah Morgan, I got the actors autograph and asked her to write it out as if she was my wife and she actually did😆. I can just spend hours exploring in the game
Shit was ass no duh it was left to rot 😂
To be honest, I think what they’re doing is their scrounge everything together to have one big final update and the DLC/expansion and then maybe another update after the DLC/expansion to fix any glitches or bugs that are bad even by Bethesda standard. Then they’re just gonna leave the game. It was an unfortunate miss And now they’re just gonna try to monetize it with paid mods. Or they could be looking at the market after they port it over to PS5. Maybe they’re going to see if there’s enough sales for PS5 to make more expansions and DLC’s.they’re gonna see if it’s worth it to continue updating and supporting this product.
The game was too short. There are only so many times you can go through the unity before it gets boring, especially when things like legendary ships just wouldn’t turn up anywhere
I share the same opinion as almost everyone else about this game. But the reason why I enjoyed it and am playing it again is because there is simply no other game like it on Xbox…an open-world, space opera role-playing game, third person available, fully customizable character and ship that you can hop in and fly around, good space combat, various missions and storylines, engage with NPCs regularly, half decent combat, and most importantly it has a semi-realistic future setting. Yes, most of those things are half-assed and bland, but it’s better than nothing to me. I tried No Man Sky, it’s more of a whimsical space sim with boring quests and characters IMO. I even hopped on PC and gave Star Citizen a try – top tier space sim – zero RPG elements kills it for me. Outerworlds was fun, but I don’t consider that a fully open world and it was short. Unfortunately, Starfield is the closest thing we have right now to checking all those boxes so I will enjoy it out of disdain until another studio can attempt it the way Bethesda did…regardless of how mid the game is 😂. I give them props for trying and I don’t regret the purchase. They got the money and resources, so screw the creation BS and spend a year hiding the loading screens, fill more planets with some epic quests and good lord, stabilize the game…how do you have lag in video game cities in 2025 😂.
All I can say is damn! Guess I’m just too simple a gamer I thought the game was enjoyable now I think I’m too easy on these developers 😆!
The game will get 1 more dlc, then package it up as a complete edition to sell the PlayStation users then that will be it. But who is surprised? They thought this would be great, it wasn’t. They won’t spend money on it for years to come. Simple business decisions
Dead game Dead game
Rework the POI system and the loading screen and many people (including myself) will return, while ignoring the nonsensical lore and universe…
I had fun playing the game
R.I.P Starfield and Bethesda
Bethesda has been dead for a long time, cant wait to see what kind of boring shit they planned for tes 6,even more loading screens, even worse writting, bigger and more empty open world, even worse performance on PC,who knows My guess is all of it.
I don’t get how what’s already here isn’t enough for people. This game is MASSSIVE and I’ve got like hundreds of hours on this game and aren’t even close to seeing half of the planets or quest and I haven’t touched the main story for a while and haven’t even got all the constellation members yet.
Compared to Skyrim and fallout this game is just fun to get out and explore distant worlds
it didn’t make any profit cause it went free on game pass.
Underwhelming is the key word here. If there were interesting side activities that would change everything for me, like hunting and fishing and zero gravity sports. They really dropped the ball not utilizing the gravity system more. And lets not forget that theres a casino in the game and you cant even gamble. Some outer space card games would have been awesome. They just didnt even really try with this game. Half-assed, mile-wide inch deep, repetitious tripe
They jettisoned it on release…pun intended 😅
I enjoyed Starfield but despised Shattered Space. They made some horrible design decisions for Shattered Space by ramming the “Serpent” down players throats if you wanted to play it. If you did not want to accept the “religion” you could not play it. I consider it a big waste of money and if they removed the Serpent requirement I would play Shattered Space.
I mean it’s sht what do you need to know?
IF I was Bethesda I would just move on… . first DLC was a obligation. they sold it to day one customers already. I doubt Bethesda has the talent CD PR and hello games has on hand.
I would, this game is ass
Not since Cyberpunk at launch had a new game been uninstalled off my hard drive so quickly.
To “fix” Starfield it would have to be rebuilt from the ground up in an engine that doesn’t have the limitations the Creation Engine does(which resulted in loading screen the game).
You actually wrote in your own script “Howard did confirm there would be another expansion after Shattered Space”, then titled your thumbnail: Seriously… Has Bethesda Deserted Starfield or What? Wow.
I never finished Starfield. I enjoy taking my time and exploring…when it’s a “good game”. Granted, they’re two distinct genres, but when you compare what Warhorse did with KCD2 (and by lesser means) you genuinely take immediate note of how shallow Starfield really is. I’m not gonna squint and use my imagination (as well as a ton of mods) to hype up my gaming experience. If it was a good game, it would have been that from the outset, with flaws…period!
Such a shame, because Starfield had so much potential
The problem with Starfield as an IP, as opposed to just an individual game, is that there’s zero substance to the setting. It’s so threadbare you can’t even call it incoherent, it’s just a bunch of decades-old sci-fi clichés haphazardly thrown into a game. The Elder Scrolls and Fallout both have interesting lore and a unique visual and mechanical identity (even if Bethesda has been seriously mishandling all of those recently). So if one game turns out bad, people still want to see what’s next for that universe. Meanwhile who gives a shit what happens next in the Starfield universe?
Starfield is a single player game. Why are you guys referring to it as if it’s an MMO?
You pass the game you move on what do you guys mean by abandon? they also did a DLC for it.
I remember when IGN was peddling this bullshit, you can tell those guys hated Xbox.
WTF IS STARFIELD 😂😂
Todd fooled you once with Fallout 76. That’s on him. But this one is on you.
I doubt they’re gonna do much with this game … the base game just isn’t a good frame to build off of ..
Come to ps5, running at 60 fps on base consoles, and I’d get this. Until then….
As a PS5 player: No need for a PS5 version, never mind.
abandonware for sure
Bethesda developers is better than unemployment – they get paid above unemployment rates and still don’t do anything
Bethesda can rot in hell. This game is the prime reason I even bought an xbox series x. I was beyond hyped for this, then the delays, then the launch…. and What in the absolute phuck! Oh yeah… it has a thousand planets in it… over 900 baren rocks floating in space. What IN THE ABSOLUTE PHUCK! I honestly get pissed off just thinking about how Tod Howard screwed us with this trash. This game could have been absolutely amazing, groundbreaking even…. instead…. it seems that the only thing they did…. was just enough to not get sued.
Because the cancelling the dlc instead they making the ps5 port..
They just need to improve the 1000 planets bc most of the times, i fall asleep when im on a new planet
I put over 100 hours in starfield and I’m probably never going back
Where is your evidence that ‘most’ modders have abandoned the game. If you actually did research you would see thats not true. Really poor when journalists dont even do research and just listen to clickbait youtubers/articles. Please do better.
Also please realise that steam contains a minority of players. For example a PAID mod Watchtower averages 37k plays per day across all platforms. Since its a paid mod that most people wouldnt have bought it shows there is a solid player base. Please do better quality videos rather than making the same uninformed takes that clickbait articles and youtubers make.
Loadingscreenfield nah I’m good
I prefer the Oblivion/Fallout 3 era of Bethesda honestly
Awe yes ! In need of content ! Take an easy win I see !
They didn’t abandon the game. They’re probably busy working on other games that is set to release maybe within 2026 sometime, like Elder Scrolls 6. Then they’ll get back to Starfield stuff.
I’ll save everyone 8min of their life, yes… yes they have. They may drop one more small DLC or expansion then are moving on. The numbers do not reflect a game that makes sense to support. It’s dead, move on.
Well, yeah. It was such a complete and utter failure that they’re silently just abandoning it hoping people won’t notice xD Todd Howards pathological need to lie and exaggurate all the time does so much damage to their games that it’s baffling that they still let him showcase them. Let alone help with development. The man is a corpo suit nowadays. Not a developer. If I were a higher-up I would’ve chained gotten rid of him and Emil long ago.
huh starfield was buns at launch lol
Well it wasn’t very good and player numbers vanished so why wouldn’t they move on?
To be fair on Bethesda, why would they waste anymore time and money on a game people are not playing and that did not meet expectations? They obviously have limitations to what they can do vs what players want
Starfield really isn’t as bad as everyone makes it out to be however it does lack in content. I’m kind of hoping to see more mods in the future in the style of the expanse or cyberpunk 2077 (or mods that add more realism in general). Still a fun game but leaves plenty to be desired
A lot of Starfield assets look like Fallout 4 but in space. Also planets are less interesting than No mans sky
This was my first and last preorder experience. We all learn at some point
Lets be honest here, resources are far better put to use developing other titles we all love
Starfields player base is becoming about as empty as its planets
They need to get rid of the clunky engine it’s too outdated
and corporate shills defend S7arfield like no tomorrow. A washed out gray dull color theme marked this game’s downfall from the start
No, see, when games flop, devs stop supporting them, it’s like when a business goes out, you don’t continue to buy inventory, its a very scholastic business principle
I didn’t get the same Bethesda-immession that i am used to with Starfield.
It prob just takes a lot of work to port to the ps5
I haven’t deserted Starfield
Born dead, and they aren’t going to fix it for the best
What’s Starfield?
I think plenty of players like myself would jump back in if they fixed the key issues of grind and locking behavior behind perks and tedious base management. You can’t just wander around in starfield you need to be directed to quests, but I don’t mind that. It’s the other stuff that makes it a grind to play.
Junk BOX and more DEI BS
They were legally required to do the first DLC since they sold it already. That is it. “It’s dying…let it die.”
Gamers again got Scam .Why am I not surprise😩😩😩
I seriously hope they have abandoned this garbage game.
It was a giant fetch quest game. Boring af. Did beat it a second time as a starborn, even more boring.
Starfield is a game of hope.
This game currently has 2,000 online players give or take😂 the game was complete shit at launch, and none of the updates made people come back to play it…
Bethesda and Microsoft are nothing, but a complete shit show nowadays 👍
Good riddance! Trash game delayed TES 6 by many years
Have they abandoned Starfield? God I fucking hope so. We can only hope.
It’s a very dull game in fairness 😢
I like the game alot my first playthough. But its so long and so many loading screens its hard to do a sec or third
hopefully starfield is deserted, focus time and resource on next elder scrolls instead
Hey go and check out the most recent massive creations that are getting thousands of players a day. This is click bait.
Why is there even still news about this game? no one cares about it I played 10 hrs on steam and uninstalled it figured I would wait for the modding community to fix it , no one is even modding this game…Caliente never even made a body for it.
If we’re being honest the game doesn’t really NEED expansions. there’s plenty to do in Starfield as is. If Bethesda hadn’t said there would be X additions I don’t think anything would be saying anything about the lack of additional DLC for the game.
Is this AI narration or just very weird reading and editing?
The video discusses the disappointing post-launch performance and lack of updates for Bethesda’s Starfield. Despite initially topping 13 million players by December 2023 (1:01), the game’s appeal quickly declined (4:37) due to perceived lack of substance (5:08), insubstantial quests (5:18), nonsensical factions (5:21), and an underwhelming narrative (5:29).
Bethesda had promised “a lot of exciting things” (2:15) and “annual expansions” (2:24), but as of June 2024, there has been very little communication or new content (1:50). The first expansion, “Shattered Space,” was considered a “massive flop” (5:55), and there’s no word on a second expansion or any major plans for 2025 (2:08). The video suggests that Bethesda may be shifting resources away from Starfield due to alleged layoffs at Microsoft and the game’s poor reception (6:02).
The video argues that for Starfield to succeed, any future expansion must deliver what players want and be accompanied by a significant overhaul of the base game (6:50), including improvements to quests, the persuasion system, combat, and companions (7:04).
You could tell from the first few months that Bethesda arrogantly, foolishly projected this game to live on for ten years ( a la Skyrim) and their slow content drip could span that time. Also thinking the modding community would do the work for them to retain interest. I think a lot of studios don’t realize that the player interest only goes as far as the devs interest to maintain and update a live service or long tail game like this.
Wow, you’re going hard now, complaining about a single player game that launched 2 years ago.
Xbox / Microsoft tax strikes again.
Nobody plays it,,,, gets 3k views in 2 hours
.. bro we want to play it,,,,, in a multiplayer setting… we waited……. still waiting.
The entire NG+ broke the whole game for.
Bethesda has quietly given up on StarField as they know it’ll take a huge amount of effort to fix the game and make it what was promised. They simply don’t want to put in the effort because they’ve already gotten their money back and it’s not worth the effort to continue developing the game.
It was deserted on launch day.
Improving the AI generated POI system and adding new ones would change everything to me. It has potential already and I enjoy the outpost quests, but there could literally be thousands of more unique ones.
I dunno why this game gets so much hate. I loved it, all 150 hours of it. I just wish they released the update with the vehicle while I was playing.
They failed in the beginning no freedom just endless loading screens. Antique game engines no atmospheric movement in ships
what a waste
i mean, i had assumed that it was dead. there’s not really a lot more you can add to the game.
I really hope they have ditched it
How can T.Howard keep getting away with bs lies after bs lies?
I think one of the big problems is Microsoft making it a Xbox/PC exclusive damaged the game out of the gate instead of making it one last multiplatform game from Bethesda, until Microsoft pivoted its whole game release strategy, now even if it gets released on the PS5 and switch 2, it wouldn’t sell well due to all the negative player reviews saying how boring it is, and all the other problems which have been brought to light since it’s release.
Bethesda abandoned Starfield faster than my dad abandoned me and my mom! 😮
Shattered Space was hyped as the Phantom Liberty moment for Starfield and boy was that over-selling it. I still think there can be a Phantom Liberty moment for the game via an expansion, but they’ll have to craft something more like a traditional Bethesda game world for that to happen i think – one or two destinations that are full of unique discoveries that actually rewards exploration. THat will take time, but it’s possible. All that said, I suspect that they’re just moving on with Elder Scrolls instead.
Outer Worlds 2 will end up being what I actually wanted Starfield to be. Fewer but much more designed planets, interesting characters, interesting story. I prefer the NASA-punk aesthetic of Starfield more, but everything else I prefered in Outer Worlds. My hope is that if they ever make another Starfield it is a WAY more focused experience with a tight story and limited number of planets with limited amounts of more designed explorable terrain.
I think the game is fun. But only if you have mods installed like I do. Vanilla game sucks. My wish list for things to add are 3rd person slow motion kill cams. 3rd person Stealth takedown animations and melee 3rd person takedown animations like they have in Skyrim and Fallout 4. I was very dissatisfied when I realized they didn’t have those.
Is this an AI video? The pronunciation and voice line splicing is…off.
Do people actually clear their backlogs? Sometimes mine just grows slower, I don’t think it ever actually shrinks.
Don’t listen to Ea.
Even with the loading screens, i think game mechanics are fine here. They need to hire good writers. That’s what’s lacking
I really believe that they’re cooking something good for the next DLC and they’re waiting to announce all the changds until the DLC releases.
ive said it before and ill say it again. bethesda relied too heavily on the “bethesda formula” and never really improved anything of significance in it. yes bethesda has a right to keep using that formula but eventually theyll have to get creative and add something new to it or at the very least drastically improve on that “bethesda formula”.. except for the few hardcores whos really into starfield and bethesda games in general, most gamers have moved on. theres a guy who made a channel based solely on starfield and his last upload was 10 months ago.
if the next elder scrolls is like skyrim but with better graphics then i consider that a huge failure. you have a game thats coming in several years from now and if i still see the same boring overdone overpowered messiah who saves the world type of writing, the same souless robotic dead eyed NPCs walkig around, the same janky combat animations and the same dialogue mechanics thats only there to give an illusion of choice, and the same old dumbed down rpg mechanics then gamers have waited all that time for nothing. skyrim was the first bethesda game ive ever exprerienced and i loved it but even then i knew veteran players of bethesda games were already groaning about the state of the elder scrolls games back when skyrim completely took over the single player gaming market for a little while. bethesda has to drastically improve their formula and/or add new things to it to make it feel new and improved not just the same exact formula with a new coat of paint over it. evolve or die.
Spoiler: For me the biggest mistake was having no aliens. Starfield is missing that sense of mystery, adventure, and wonder of whats around the corner; and I think it’s because it’s too down to earth. Elder Scrolls has more “alien” species… i can get over the loading screens etc. if the game has a great story and there are interesting things to discover.
It’s a game. Your headlines are garbage. Just like your AI generated slop.
I think at this point they gave up on starfield after the next expansion but we shall see.
5:02 ai voice
I wonder if they realize at 7:00 they are just describing that Bethesda needs to just try making a new starfield game. If you’re gonna change that much about a game, you’re better off just making an entirely new game with the development tools you’ve refined.
Ive clocked 1900 hours in a modded Starfield & only done half the main quests, still have yet to go thru the unity lol, its my favorite game of theirs, by quite a lot, ive played & enjoyed all the others too. Thing about entertainment is that its subjective, there’s not a game in existence that 100% of people play & like. Starfield is already in the top 15 on Nexus mods, about to surpass Morrowind next, & that doesnt count mods in creations & elsewhere, the game is doing extremely well, far better than the majority of games that get released… The whiny internet hoards are out of touch with reality, which is always the case, they attacked Fallout 4 in the same way, too bad for them, Fallout 4 became, by far, the most successful & most modded of the entire Fallout series…
Hopefully starfield comes to ps5 soon and next .
Say what you want about the Creation Engine. To me, it still crashes less than Unreal Engine 5. Trying to play Oblivion Remastered with amy mods is a nightmare. Can’t even leave the sewers at the start of the game because it crashes when I go through the door to the open world. (Edited for spelling errors)
Removing the open world aspect out of it and replacing it with endless loading screen is what killed the game in my opinion. Fallout 4 has a equally bland main story but the open world gives you the freedom to have your own experience.
That was such a boring game…
Outer worlds on the other hand was a gem. ✌️
It’s biggest problem was it was a time suck, everything took forever to do the basics, like walk back to the ship with all the loot you hauled. I could play for hours and just manage my inventory. Then you play a mission or 2 and those are done in relatively short order, a fraction of the time. The story wasn’t good enough to support that kind of loop, and while blasting my way through the same generic facility on yet another procedural lifeless planet, then getting busted for carrying contraband with no escape… I just stopped, and switched to something else. After 100 hours, I never got to the faction missions, which is my own fault. The ship combat was already mostly boring as I had amassed enough firepower to deal with most of the ships I encountered at the point of the game I was at. And the whole alien mystery was dull, and when I spoiled myself, I was even less excited by it.
There’s stuff to like here, and I hope we get another game set in the universe, but Bethesda’s game engine and shtick is tired, and needs modernization. Even other games like Avowed suffer from an attempt to be a Bethesda game, where an interesting setup and decent combat was brought down by too much tedium. I’d love a streamlined version of Starfield, something that kept the hits coming. Something scaled down, nothing wasted on a thousand boring planets. Maybe linear?
But at this point, I think the game is dead, and with layoffs and the like, unless it blows up on PS5 I think we’ll not see anything substantial for Starfield going forward.
they need a new engine at this point. starfield look ok at best and played like a 2015 game
Everybody thinking elder scrolls 6 is going to be the answer. Do people not realize Bethesda has lost their touch. Do people not realize bethesda is still stuck in early 2000s and when you get games from them that’s what it feels like? Bethesda is out of touch with today, And I just don’t think people understand that yet. They got to catch up with times, and hopefully elder scrolls 6 does that, but if they don’t and they’re still stuck back in the early 2000s when that game’s going to not do so well. It will be forgotten about in a month also just like Star Field. But that game is so far out, it’s probably going to feel even more dated when it finally releases in 2032😂😂😂
Fallout 4 is way better than this boring space trash of a game. The protagonist had a story and they talked, the weapons and combat is better, visuals are way better than starfield and the companions were rememborable. If Fallout had dialogue options like Cyberpunk and actual story paths like it then it would eradicate Starfield meaning to exist
Starfield was one of the worse investments That I ever purchased. The game was buggy, the universe was barebones, the protagonist was a souless silent husk of bordem, and there is no dismemberment at all.
They just need to focus on other projects. Starfield has bone cancer. Its very core framework is compromised. The only positive was the modding community but even that’s gone now.
What the hell is a “Starfield”?
Starfield looked like trash before launch and it still does.
Yes they abandoned it. It’s terrible and the metric internally must be equally terrible.
I really wan’t to play Starfield, but I’ve been waiting it’s coming for a PS5. Is it even coming for a PS5 and could it come for the Switch 2 too? 😮
Xbox can keep this piece of shit!
I’m expecting more DLC because they haven’t said they are done.
The only good thing to come out of Starfield is it hopefully will show Bethesda to stop making the same game with the same mechanics just with a new paint job. They are so far behind everyone else it’s beyond pathetic at this point.
Nothing has really changed since Elder Scrolls 4.
how do you abandon a single player game? It isn’t a live service
I still have only played 3.5 hours of this game. Not cuz I don’t want to. I just work so much that I get home sit down and try to relax… Then wake up and have to go work again…. Maybe someday I’ll be able to play a game I waited so long for.
Starfield wasn’t a normal story driven game like Wolfenstein or dishonor. That was why it didn’t appeal to me.
Come on just it to us of PS5
