They basically echo Todd’s comments from the Fallout Premier.
The Uncharted movie suffered from that problem they’re talking about where what’s appealing and novel in a video game is a much harder sell as a movie. Part of what makes the Uncharted games interesting is that you’re basically playing as a blockbuster action movie hero in Indiana Jones flavored situations. Cool for gameplay purposes, but that gave the studio serious trouble with the story because every story draft they made felt like a blatant ripoff of Indiana Jones. (Tomb Raider didn’t suffer from this because Lara Croft had a very distinct personality and likeness that goes beyond being an Indy copycat, and the first two live action movies perfectly cast Angelina Jolie as Lara) The end compromise was a super generic adventure flick that really didn’t please either fans of the games or fans of those kind of movies. (Tom Holland being horribly miscasted as Drake definitely didn’t help either)
I think elder scrolls would work better as a stylized animated tv show as opposed to live action, and each individual season should focus on one single region like the games
in the perspective of setting TES is most free and potential franchise ever
want generic fantasy like LotR trilogy but with Roman Empire? Set your movie in Cyrodiil. Want GoT in TES? Do High Rock movie. Want alien unusual Dune-like fantasy? Do Morrowind or Hammerfell adaptation. Want your own Beowulf saga? Do movie set in Skyrim. But yes the point of the video is that Bethesda won’t get a lot of money from movie and producing full scale fantasy movie in TES universe is freakin expensive
