They fucked this game up! Damn it Bethesda!!!! I tried hard to be cool but just couldn’t at all it was just trash
I am kind of done with Bethesda. After 76 and Starfield I will never buy another title from them at open. It would be an easy game to fix with alien invasions. Perhaps a ringworld expansion of entering the ruins of something old orbiting a forgotten star. Or something easy such as allowing you to terraform the many empty worlds and create the aliens, plants and atmospheres. Make a reason to go into the caves. If Bethesda thought this game was fun? I like the base game. If I worked at Bethesda I would sell the game and let another company fix it.
A little rocky? It has been a disaster. It is still shit
I don’t understand the emptiness complaint. It is utter nonsense.
The real problem is that the same handful of bases, with the same enemies and the same loot, are spawned again and again on every planet.
The game is not empty. That is not the problem at all, The game repeats itself over and over and over again. THAT… is the problem.
This is what needs to be addressed!!! A new expansion will NOT change anything about the core problem!
i think the gear and weapons is very limited same boring weapons. Inventory system is also not friendly
The only problem with space colonies would be the UC and Freestar might not like it.
The game is garbage. There’s no saving it.
Does anyone give a shit about this game coming to PlayStation? I just don’t understand how that’s going to help this game. I guess they could maybe recoup a tiny bit of money? It doesn’t help the game at all.
Expanding the starborn storyline? You mean possibly finished writing the actual main quest and so it is an expansion hey?
I love Starfield, I am on like level 216, but I’d like to more about the Starborn, and how it all began, and who was the first starborn, or maybe do a stupid mission to bring the atmosphere back to earth, or find a vault on earth filled with forgotten humans, who know nothing about the settle systems, and were left behind after mass exit of the plant. And it could do with some new starborn powers, some are dumb, plus, I’d like more missions to do with the other factions, i.e. spacers, like taking over them, and the ecliptic, there’s a whole bunch of storyline there,
I just picked it up again recently and my fresh eyes see that the writing really is awful. Dialogue is inauthentic and disjointed. It almost gives me uncanny valley, I hate it. I cannot get everyone to shut up (skip..skip..skip)fast enough and too many of the characters are just aholes for no reason, which gives me the impression that Emil is probably an ahole for no reason too. I wish they had hired actual writers, with a degree in writing, like THAT is their actual profession. If game devs do not realize they are part of the entertainment industry and hire real, entertaining writers, their games will fall short in sales too. It isn’t rocket science.
Space game and loading screens don’t go in the same sentence.
If they can’t change that, I have no plans to buy it.
I thought this game died, I forgot about this game.
Way to big is not a problem its just to empty should add som alien races meybe 2 or 3 for start 1 of them hostile 2 other at war with it
I loved shattered space
Refunds for everyone 😅
Shattered space length wasnt the problem 10 Hours for a DLC is not bad, its how bad the overall the DLC was, boring bullet sponge enemies that are boring to fight in the first place and no verity, the Planet is also ugly and boring
It’s missing a star system…veta reticuli. And that’s a good idea for some DLC expansion, you run into some aliens or engineers from Prometheus.
I’ll never understand why they decided to do a giant space RPG with NO ALIENS! Like WTF? 10 races on one planet in the Elder Scrolls, but only one race in the entire galaxy in Starfield!?
It sold so many games because if you played it more than 2 hrs. you couldn’t get a refund. For me and my 100 bucks, it was a total rip-off
All right!! Way cool. They fixed the save system that crashes the game and will be pushing the update any day now…….
Oh, oh, yeah, no this is a big ol’ middle finger to those of us who can’t play it huh? A huge effing middle finger all the while suggesting we buy the next Doom. Yeah, screw off bethesda
One HUGE step for Bethesda, one big trip and fall….. Hopefully they can realize, sometimes, LESS IS MORE
The game wasn’t way too big or too empty it’s a bleeding loading simulator
I still love playing despise its flaws, hoping the next expansion gives better story content and more otherwise I can see why some people may give up on it more. Its a hit and miss with someone but personally I love it for the most part.
It’s not “can Bethesda save starfield”, it’s can Bethesda save themselves, and unfortunately Todd Howard needs to go.
I think a rift of time would be good. You visit time shifts on different planets of human history, world war, wild west, ice age, dinosaur, and future apocalypse like zombies or fallout. Even possibly mythological like norse, Egyptian ect.
It needs grey aliens with terrifying powers.
I think if even just 20 of the planets in the game had large cities for exploration and were rich in detail that would go a long way for addressing the emptiness feeling. As it is currently there’s what, 3 cities spread across 3 planets to explore? Out of 1000+ planets… Not an easy thing to do for the game if not impossible for the developers, but without an immersive experience on a much larger scale no amount of crisscrossing the galaxy to dead planets will ever feel fun.
Literally almost every complaint people have in this comment section has been fixed with mods.
Hopefully the next expansion will ”save“ the game. Having mods being available on Xbox is definitely a boon to us console players. Having uncapped frame rate is definitely nice too. The next DLC has to be on point with missions, new planets, galaxies, crafting etc..
whole game needs a redesign to make it rival Elder Scrolls, Cities need to be bigger, Landing pads and ships need to be bigger with more design, especially the Annoying Ladders and door placement (don’t wanna rely on mods for something that should of been standard) More populated worlds rather than Barren wastelands with random structures, Half the time you don’t even need a Ship, just the one given you as there’s nothing to really do with one, i could go on lol, But this will never happen. i did like alot of this game but Most of it fell really short.
Actually to even attempt to fix this game / get it closer to space adventure game ( currently there is no actual space in game – only interior space and screens playing video) – they need to start with overhaul of procedural generation ( expansion on procedural generation ) currently Bethesda generate instance filing it with pre build outpost with are very limited in variety especially larger one – so they are re-used all over place with make game fell like copy / paste job. They need overhaul how pre build locations works – Break them in to smaller pieces with multiple variants of those pieces then generate those locations from those pieces, you use seat layouts for main story / fraction quest location – then for side / filler location you generate them from pre build pieces with will make them fell familiar yet different – instead re-using same 3 layouts everywhere. On top of that game need more weapons ( different models / animations – not just different stats and perks on basic 21 models ) more vehicles, and meaningful quests with chooses…
Hi. Havent actually played SF yet but have been following lots of reviews because im fascinated by the possibly cursed problem of combining a space RPG with unlimited procedural worlds.
Anyway, here is my wishlist:
* Starfield New Vegas: In particular, the discipline to write quests with no unkillable NPCs would fix a bunch of Bethesda writing issues.
* Skyrim in space, IN-SPACE. Even without NMS-landing, a single inspace level would allow traditional Skyrim-style exploration and discovery while travelling between worlds.
* Procedural variation of Points Of Interest. Better yet, a full on procedural dungeon crawler mechanic which also has parameters that respect the larger story.
* Deemphasise the main story to be just another DLC. Make the core game a story-agnostic sandbox. Make SF an inviting target for third-party AA-scale (or smaller) projects.
That last one is my best idea IMO. AAA games seem to be having a problem of creative bankruptcy while AA games are picking up the slack. So instead of trying to “fix” Starfield, or expect Bethesda to suddenly become better at A,B or C, make SF like Steam within Steam, a repository for many people to create games (and a bit of profit) within.
IMO, starfield could still be running as a sandbox environment 50 years from now, just as Steam may be, but like The Ship Of Theseus it might have been continually upgraded until not a single line of the original code remains. This one kooky story about star powers might still be in there, but alongside hundreds of other AA-scale stories, each adding factions and companions, so its up to you if you even seek it out in a given playthrough.
yeah, good luck with that 😂
I’ll come back if they remove the pronouns and add a settlers type update overhaul like they did with Fallout 76. Bethesda truly dropped the ball with Starfield.
Not the same Bethesda as the trams that created Oblivion, Skyrim and Fallout 3 and 4.
The game has no soul imo basically a lost of identity
It may not be Bethesda’s best game, but I feel it was their most polished game released. Still needed work, but pretty good out the gate – Steam version anyhow.
it also needs to hugely improve and overhaul its base building , for me to biggest let down was the base building its even much worse then FO4
I have been playing Starfield for over a year and I still very much enjoy it. I love exploring and this game helps that itch much like Skyrim did years ago. Plus the ship building in this game is way better than any other I have tried.
Not even mods can save this trash. Unless there’s a huge overhaul coming that rewrites the core mechanics of its boring exploration and tons of load screens, whatever update Bethesda has planned will be more trash just like the base game and Shattered Space.
Not convinced due the the predatory nature regarding priced mods.
Then the matter of extra content worth if they take out content from dlc just to monetise in pieces.
This game is dead, nobody cares about it and never will
All these big fixes being thrown in and bethesda still doesnt have functional habs on ships and in outposts.
I think there is a lot of potential with the starborn storylines. Think about how many times some of us have gone through the unity to find a different universe? Since you can use each time to do things differently, couldn’t each universe be a whole new, or part of a new story line, or have the story line span all the current universes?
Bethesda can not turn the game around because the creation engine is not a good platform to build on for a space game.
I love Starfield, but they need to fix the blandness. Some big boy or girl dialog options would be nice.
What killed Shattered Space was the requirement to join the “despised” Serpent faith in order to play the DLC. While you can repudiate the faith at the end, if you do this you are bared from returning to the planet again “in that universe”. It was a horrible game design decision by Bethesda and was a well earned negative review by many. Starfield itself has the makings of a great game but I doubt I will live long enough to see it happen at the rate Bethesda puts out DLCs.
Starfield not only needs meaningful content but also something that brings in players so mod authors decide that it’s worth their time to create mods for the game. This is the main reason Skyrim is still such a huge game for BGS – Modders. So let’s see if BGS can provide both the storyline and meaningful content to attract players, and stop pi55ing off the modding community with short term greed pay walling.
PS – Games are getting more expensive thanks to tariffs. Mexico makes almost all the CDs for the US market. Read between the lines.
I was really hoping to fly my ship down to the planet and over the surface if they could give us that I would be so happy
Ngl as a starfield base game enjoyer I want starfield to stay overall grounded I didn’t like the more fantasy take of the most recent dlc tbh. Hope star born is an extension of the base campaign
I’ll support Starfield if Bethesda copies Hello Games. 8+ years of free DLC Expansions to make their game good. Shattered Space was Free, right?
Holy Hell !! They want $40🇨🇦 !!! F**k right off Todd! 😂
Okay, here is my attempt at a realistic way for Bethesda to turn Starfield into a hit.
2025 April/May: A free update focusing entirely on exploration. This includes a rework of how planets are generated, procedurally generated cities (smaller than the handcrafted ones) and villages, roads used by vehicles and NPCs, as well as procedurally generated dungeons. Handcrafted dungeons should remain exclusive for radiant quests. Rivers, etc., and importantly, a more meaningful distribution of content. For example: on the edges, there should be no human buildings but rather small camps or crashed spaceships and far fewer human NPCs. On Jemerson and similar planets, there should be fewer bandits but more functioning civilizations. In the border area between UC and FSC, most bandits should be concentrated, with more signs of the war present in these regions.
A Bethesda creation similar to Escape.
June/July: An update to reduce loading times, introduce new radiant quests, and add a free Tracker Alliance quest. A paid creation with another high-quality Tracker Alliance quest.
September: Starborne DLC:
Includes a major storyline and new scenarios for New Game Plus.
Update adds new vehicles, both ground and space, along with a small questline.
An invasion multiplayer mode enabling players to attack others as “Starborne.” This mode can be deactivated via options.
2026 Several small and large updates: The 2026 expansion should focus on exploration with spaceships and include a PlayStation release.
The free update introduces Freelancer/Everspace 2-like space gameplay. Players will be able to freely explore solar systems with their spaceships, encountering new celestial objects to explore both on foot and with spaceships. It’ll be possible to manually land on planets with ships, orbit planets, and fly across the map in ships.
The DLC will include a main quest and side quests emphasizing space gameplay—primarily set in space rather than on planets.
I believe this will be necessary to give Starfield a second dawn.
How about just work on TES6. They’re gonna keep working on this dead game for what? So you can keep making videos😂 ok
They need a overhaul several systems in this game to make it worth my time
Dont get me wrong.. Starfield is not a bad game. Only problem is that is about 15% complete
Older Bethesda games are great because you can travel from point A to point B, and see things along the way. Starfield has menus and fast travel. If they added space flight similar to elite dangerous or nms, then it’ll feel more explorative
Anyone who thinks fallout or skyrim or anything else is better than Starfield are suffering from gamers stockholm/prisoner of war syndrome that they experienced from the review bombing antics. There’s nothing in the previous games better than what we got in starfield. Other than greater haters.
Game sucks, adding more content isn’t going to fix what’s wrong with it. It needs a complete overhaul of the base game and bethesda can’t even be bothered to put in that much effort for a new release let alone one they’ve already released. They already made their money so they don’t give a damn and never will. RIP TESVI.
One of the biggest complaints is probably something they can’t fix: seamless travel, less loading screens. However, they could fix the monotonous minigame for getting the Starborn powers. I don’t mind how they procedurally generate points of interest from templates, but there should probably be a lot more of them. Overall, the game just needs more open world content, I think, but it’s obviously a lot of work.
Lost me on the Starborn trademark, that was the worst point of the campaign, i can’t bare an entire dlc based on more of that crap,
seriously, i’ts funny that the more grounded aspects like the discoveries of grav drive and how planet earth died is the highlight of this story for me and exploring NASA, but multiverse and super power beings lost me, because i just can’t stand plots like this anymore, where you’re the chosen one and people just have to adore you, all i want is to travel and meet new people, help the ones i can and not be put on a pedestal with a power i didn’t even wanted to, maybe i just played too much Skyrim and the words Dragonborn/Starborn are an instant eye roll, but who knows, i might be wrong, they might make a fantastic storyline with full of plot twists, but something tells me it’s gonna be the ladder once again.
I am not able to play it, after some time when i go into the menu my vram doubles.
I think people are too hard on starfield because if you think about it, bethesda was taking a leap of faith making this game because before they stuck to a single worlds which are far easier to fill up with content but we got a whole open world galaxy in this game which again had never been done before. So when you take a company notorious for making single world games and task them with filling an entire galaxy, the results speak for themself. I’m not gonna lie if you ignore the bugs and just take in the game, its actually beautiful and some features such as scannable flora and fauna unique to every planet may seem boring but still that is work a developer put into the game that should be recognized. I think people just don’t give the game an actual chance.
Honestly, what the game need isn’t more dlc, it’s just more POIs.
If they can shorten travel time between POIs, people would have more fun exploring. 90 seconds should be the time to aim for. And not just side quests. Maybe just some enemy outposts. Sometimes I just want to fight things and gain exp outside of quests
It’s always plans, roadmaps, what they’re going to do. It’s been 15 years. Can they just f-ing do it?!
I want to love it. I bought the constellation edition.
It’s just beautiful and boring.
The main quest is literally grab a bunch of items, walk through a portal, and do it all over again.
Well, after 4k+ hours in the game, I can say that it is a fantastic sandbox. Most of the story building is mediocre to bad. There are some great set pieces missions, but the overall storytelling is meh.
Bethesda, in order to glean a wider audience, needs to focus on story and lore. Right now, lore is sparse and Bethesda definitely needs to flesh out them bones.
For story, Starfield needs an existential threat. Much like the return of the dragons for Skyrim or the Institute for Fallout 4. I could easily offer them a half dozen suggestions.
For general purpose world building, Bethesda should take a hard look at the random space POIs. It makes no sense to encounter Mrs. Witless out in Serpentis, for example. Maybe some space POIs that involve things like exploring something.
And for goodness sake, get Bethesda’s writers some professional counseling. Way to much self-deletion idealization in those derelict ships.
More space habitats are needed. A Neon sized space station is essential. That should probably be a longer term goal.
Make Outposts more like Fallout 4 settlements. Currently there isn’t much need or want for them. It’s almost like they carried over the CAMP system without realizing that it’s just the player, not his online buddies. Having actual colonists would liven that system up.
And last, but certainly not least, more ship parts. Ones the let us build disks and spheroids. Whatever. Just more ship parts.
its finally being revealed that release was a out of season april fools joke and the actual game is launching Q2 of this year
your accent is horrible, dislike
Does the huge update include getting rid of the load screens every 2 minutes? Ohh and the horrible frame rate.
i have around 100 hours clocked on the game. i tried to like it, i think i enjoyed ship buiding and a few faction missions. the rest of it…couldnt care less. i can say i gave it my all in the 100 hours looking for that magic i felt in fallout and elderscrolls. In retrospect i fully regret buying it
I hope they add new mechanics to the game. More actual space content, faction wars/territory take over, meaningful survival gameplay as well. Would have liked to travel within a system without loading…
The game was a big disappointment imo. Very barebones for such a huge team working on it. It feels lazy and full of shortcuts.
No amount of updates can make the game better, it’s core design fails to deliver the experience they marketed.
I don’t think I’ll be trying it even if they somehow make this game a 10/10.
Since Oblivion I’ve watched Zenimax/Bethesda consistently release unfinished and borderline unplayable games. The last two fallout games came out in completely unacceptable states. They rely on their community WAY to much. To this day, there is game breaking bugs that exist in every version of Skyrim. You are basically required to use mods to get a functioning game, and they are selling it for $40. Bethesda is abusing us, and they aren’t worthy of our time or money.
the game is so bad.
I think Starfield will get a second chance when it inevitably comes to PS5. More reach will help but Bethesda also needs to deliver with a better expansion than Shattered Space.
I remember people wrote off Fallout 76 as a failure and it ended up gaining more success years later, so the same is possible for Starfield.
I love starfield but ffs bethesda need to keep bringing in content. I couldn’t care about elder scrolls yet because that is along time away like they said.
