faster than light travel, artificial gravity in ships and stations, the artifacts, the unity, and now whatever happened at the citadel on Va’ruun’kai, idk I haven’t finished it yet.
I mean, the main loop of the end-game is obtaining magical powers from big glowy portals

The verunnkai (or whatever the fuck) were already like a mashup of all the evil Dune factions already, so I don’t see the switch to scifantasy as a shift. They were already Nasa, the cowboy society from Firefly (or optionally, Trigun), and space aztec harkonnens. None of which really blend well.

To be honest I’m nowhere near invested into Starfield as I was Fallout 4. But even so I’m hoping this dlc is Starfields “Automatron” and a Starfields “Far Harbor” is still to come. But with that said I don’t think that’s the case at all. It’s been around a year since the game released and Fallout 4 had way more dlc content out within its first year since releasing. I think this may be the biggest dlc Starfield ever gets. I can’t say I’m that upset about it either, honestly I’m just ready to move on from this game.

Starfield’s future was shattered the day it released. Just look at the modding community; huge modders that created Skyrim Online just didn’t want to do it for Starfield because it wasn’t fun. Considering how essential modding is for Bethesda’s games in general (because they’re unpolished uninnovative formulaic sandboxes), such a hit to the modding scene is very telltale of the game as a whole. This DLC only reinforced the idea that Bethesda’s formula has not improved in the past decade, and most likely will not for TES6 either. Such a shame.

I’ve been loving Starfield ever since the mod menu update for consoles. Had massive fun leading up to the DLC. I thought the DLC would keep me addicted, but it actually did the exact opposite. I haven’t touched Starfield after beating Shattered Space. Something about this DLC is a serious turn-off. Overpriced to say the least.

they could have improved with the DLC if they just added moer stuff to the main game, it’s like they forgot to improve the main game, even if this was a 1000000/100 super special awesome DLC< if it doesn't add anything to the main game it's just a few hour dlc, that you probably do once. What they really need is a big buff to the exploration. Two things they could do to fix the main story a lot more. A) make every area modular, have it so you can have 5000 different combinations of an area, so if you go into an abandoned robot factory it's a little different each time B) similarly also add in randomized spawns, what can spawn, where and such. So it's not the exact same dead corpse in the same spot every time. And add more interesting POI and make them more equally spawnable. I saw the same damn 1 room boring uesless cave like 8+ times, but the dig site once, in around 5 or so hours exploring and trying to give it a chance.

So it’s how the beginning of the game was? Man I was interested for 10-20 hours then it just got too repetitive. Starfield, game that starts off looking alright then just fails man.

I have 400 hours in starfield, and i like it because i like dogshit bethesda games. But it is starting to piss me off, like DAMN it feels like someone took the biggest shit on my chest and sparkled some fairy dust on it.

Don’t give up hope Habie. There is still a pretty strong chance that Bethesda will keep going with the development of another DLC, House Va’ruun was the most fantasy-esque of the possible DLC ideas. There is a galaxy to fill. Modders like myself ARE trying to do so. The one thing Starfield has provided with its abundant procedural generation and size is a place for modders like myself to really build it out.

I don’t know if you played Elder Scrolls Arena, but that game is… pretty barren. Pretty barren, and massive. But it provided an excellent foundation for content to build out the world. Back then there wasn’t a massive community and available tools to do so. This is the first time we as modders and developers have gotten a chance to do that. We have a massive sandbox with, frankly pretty decent world building, that is begging for content. Me and the modders I’m working with are trying to focus on adding content. And there’s still a chance that Bethesda might start making more.

If you’re gonna do a space game, you need either well crafted characters as part of your protagonist’s “buddy-club”, or you need space politics which are thought out and interesting, or you need some giant alien or cosmic antagonist.
Preferably all three.
This game kinda lacked all of these.
The ships were cool.
Adoring fan was fun to have around.
The items and their flavour texts were nice.
But the actual characters weren’t interesting. The plot wasn’t interesting because we’ve done all that before. The sociopolitical stuff going on in the game wasn’t compelling. The clothes and the weapons and everything in the environments just felt too clean, which I get was the aesthetic, but as a human, I know just how filthy my fellow humans actually are.
The guns they made for the game weren’t very good, with the exceptions being the classic guns which actually exist.
The combat just kinda sucked.
The aesthetic of everything and the UI… It’s just bland.
I didn’t play much of it just because of how bland it all was. I knew I could sink a great deal of time into it… But I didn’t see the point in spending the time because there wasn’t anything compelling about the game.

Bethesda hasn’t made anything good in ages, fallout 3 is just plain bad, skyrim is just kind of okay, fallout 4 is absolute trash, both their online games are unfinished cash grabs with popular IPs slapped on them so they sell, and starfield is the epitome of everything wrong with the studio, that being the horribly lazy writing and failure to release finished products.

Dude, Starfield didn’t excell in anything. Folks that actually explored the world found that the only part that actually felt like it had human hands on it was the town and everything directly outside of it. Best example was a radiant town defence quest in a town on a cliff side. The enemies couldn’t use the stairs. At all. They were far too big to actually go up or down, so the few he had to fight spawned in his line of sight and died immediately. You cannot tell me that was made by hand, because even the dumbest tester would have said that it was fucked.

I’m really sick of all the negative Starfield comments. I’ve very much enjoyed it from the first day until now. I haven’t tried SS yet, but I plan to soon. No, the game is not perfect, but what game is? The graphics are great, the voice acting is generally fairly excellent, it’s more than 4 hours long, and it doesn’t break my computer to run. I’ve enjoyed it more than most other games in the past 10yrs or so. I’d even say it’s in my top 10, and that list includes classics like the original Mechwarrior (2/3) series. Yes, I’m that old. Maybe I’m just not as picky and entitled as most gamers these days. I am having a LOT of fun playing Starfield (with a few mods), so sue me.

*SPOILERS AHEAD*

Shattered Space was an improvement on the base game in terms of world building– Dazra feels more like a complete (if chaotic due to the cataclysm) world than say, Jemison. But it’s still too small. Jemison has one major settlement, and frankly, it’s tiny. Same with Cheyenne, Polvo and Neon.

And then, Shattered Space gives us a grand total of one small space station, a relatively small city map (post-cataclysm) and some surrounding areas. And in a game called “Starfield” in an expansion called “Shattered Space”– THERE’S NO DAMNED SPACE. You make ONE grav jump, and it’s not even under your control!! There’s no supply runs, no dealing with pirates, the Super Secret System of Kavnyk has no security whatsoever. You don’t work up to be “trusted” by the ultra paranoid followers of the Great Serpent– you see one ghost, make up a few words, and suddenly you’re invited to the High Council’s meetings.

The quests themselves were not bad. It’s not quite as good as the Crimson Fleet quest-line, but it’s pretty good. The Ma’Leen Dam quest was particularly entertaining, because it was puzzles, fights, and a choice to be made. But they were all planet-bound. The cave quest to talk to Anasko was…. pointless. “All Must Serve”– unless we can be political dickheads and refuse to help save the Speaker (Supreme leader who all must serve). The quests felt like they were written to a checklist, rather than what we thought we knew of House Va’ruun.

Shattered Space felt like a decent set of add-on missions that missed opportunities to redefine the Starfield universe.

No matter how bad Bethesda’s games get, not matter how many bugs their games have, no matter how wooden their NPCs are, no matter that modders always do a better job at making the games better and fixing the bugs….people still defend Bethesda and praise their games.

And I think that says alot about what I think of Starfield, it was an average game but there was nothing more. Shattered Space being handcrafted is nice, but this should have been the defacto for large hubs around the universe. Not ‘cites’ that take up a few blocks.

You said you were happy that shattered space served as a sign that Bethesda is listening to its fans again, but that’s just not true (still). The person who helped design this expansion is giving it nothing but praise and compliments and saying it’s one of the best dlc’s they’ve ever made- meanwhile it has mostly negative reviews. They’re completely ignoring any constructive feedback- heck, they still haven’t even fixed, let alone acknowledged, the fact that there is a $7 additional quest where the gun rewarded at the end is glitched and cannot be reloaded. Starfield is *unfortunately* a piece of junk. This is coming from a Bethesda fan who wanted Starfield to be good, tried to have fun with it, but just had to uninstall after the 50th time it crashed on me, 2nd time I was hard-locked out of a quest line because of a glitch, and 30th time being forced to explore a fairly barren, yet somehow still glitchy, world.

Having fully played through the dlc. And most of its instantly available side content I definitely get that feeling of it moving backwards to what the games before it were doing, and definitely doesn’t feel like a starfield planet. That said I’m mostly fine with that since from the base game Dazra was kind of told to be a completely different thing from everything else. Honestly my only real complaint is that we didn’t get any new ship parts, and only a handful of weapons. Like the weapons we got are really nice, and with all the free content and updates they added it doesn’t feel like we’re missing much, but the lack of new ships and parts is annoying.

Apparently I enjoyed this DLC more than most since I’d say it’s still a decent DLC if a bit pricy. It doesn’t do anything game changing, but I enjoyed a lot of the side quests, and the main quest dungeons were really fun.

Just to clarify, Bethesda didn’t give people who dislike Starfield what they asked for. They gave customers what they think customers want, without actually bothering to ask the customers what they actually want.

Bethesda just doesn’t understand that the entire industry changed since 11/11/2011.

However, for me personally? I stopped supporting Bethesda the day they started exploiting their fans via their predatory “Paid Mods” system. Would you like all of the negatives of being a Contractor without any of the benefits or protections a Contractor has, as limited as they are? Congrats, you can work for essentially free and delude yourself that you’re making money while Bethesda makes money off of your work.

The intro and main story were not bad, but again, choices make no real impact and the rest of the “expansion” lack’s any long term play. Like new ship parts, unique resources and outpost add on, no space encounters and no M-class ships. For 30.00 (half the price of the base game) this is a big fail by Bethesda.

Killing aliens with a 1911 and people still complain about Starfield…. Humanity is lost.

So what, exactly, is your issue with the DLC?

All starfield needed was more hand crafted faction quests and locations. More real tangible things to do out side the shit main story. People don’t love skyrim because of the main quest. They love exploring the world and participating in faction quest lines. Ultimately I stopped playing starfield because I completed all the main story quests along with the faction quests. Imagine if every star system you visited had more than just junk radiant garbage. Like imagine if all those star systems had a quest line, even if they ended up smaller. The reason to explore and find those quests and stories skyrockets. Add in more chance encounters so you don’t come across the same ones over and over, starfield truly could have been amazing.

Appreciate the honesty. I “loved” the concept of the ending, even if corny or cheesy since I’ve seen the idea before…. but the new game plus made me feel like our narcissistic rival which I hate. Wasn’t about a new start anymore, just powers for the sake of collecting them. 10 times over. Players should want to explore new game plus for a new try at things, not… a set n fixed linear boost that was buggy. Maybe add in new universal events that can’t all happen in the same universe

Am i the only one who can’t stand that color palette? it looks so fantasy-like in a game marketed as NASA punk. I was originally drawn to starfield because of its more realistic art direction but this dlc looks like wizards in space.

I loaded back into Starfield for the first time in who knows how long for this DLC and spent maybe an hour trying to find the space station only to discover my game is bugged and I literally can’t even start the DLC unless I make a completely new save because the space station won’t spawn in. thanks for putting it into words. every time i saw people complain about this game, theyd use talking points that were… well theyd complain about issues that EVERY Bethesda game has. when everyone can only point at QOL issues then none of them are really getting wahts wrong with the game.

like vehicles. if vehicles were an issue then instead of everyone saying “it shouldve been there on launch” would actually be saying “finally let me play it again” all the loading screens are nearly instantaneous now, yet somehow people are still complaining about them. it uses the same space travel system as starwars outlaws and yet somehow thats one of the few things that actually praised from that game… Idk… i dont like starfield wither but i also have never heard a good argument as to why. maybe were just burnt out on the style of game Bethesda makes.

You know what I just thought about that has me in hysterics? Obsidian, the orignial creators of fallout, made fallout new vegas, a fallout game many people consider much better than the bethesda entries including 4, which it came out 5 years before.

Obsidian also made Outer Worlds, a space game that I would consider far better than Starfield, that came out 5 years before Starfield came out.

So for 10 years running, Bethesda has been getting outplayed at their own game, by the very same guys they were meant to carry on the legacy of. I just find that humorous, idk.

I liked Starfield. It was fun and engaging however, the moment I completed the game and turned it off, I never found my mind wandering back to Starfield like it did for Skyrim and to a lesser degree Fallout 4 when they came out.

I got the DLC because I pre-ordered, and I still havent even looked into how to start the new questline. I started the game, played it for 20 minutes and then turned it off again.

Its a shame, but Starfield is just average at best, I think the low number of mods for the game is pretty significant proof of that. Even the enbdev wont be updating his tool for Starfield, he found it boring and wont spend his time on updating the tool for someone he doesnt play (Theres a couple of other factors as well, but that was his main reason on his Forum)
