Expecting an excellent game from Bathesda was everyone’s first mistake. They dont make great games. In fact. Their recent trio are mostly just repeats on Skyrim without the fascination of it being a new, large world to explore.
So yeah, sucks to have exoected anything more than a mediocre 4-5/10 generic FPS feom Bathesda.
Its crazy how Starfield doesn’t even feel like an open world game let alone an open universe. Like just compare your average journey to your quest location in Skyrim to Starfield. In Skyrim you would come across a couple caves to explore and loot maybe pick up a few side quests on the way, come across a dragon and fight that and so many other events. In Starfield your average journey to your quest location is fast travel to your ship and go through a bunch of menus and loading screens and boom you’re there.
Nasa punk term did no even existed before this all happened, never shouldve been
Luke. I saw what F4 was comparing to FNV and even 3. I wasn’t excited for Starfield for a single moment.
This had Adam Kovic going Skyrim in space written all over it from jump
You’ll never hear Todd say it but this was NOT the game he had dreamed of, or at least it didn’t end up being the game he had always dreamed of making. He talks of waiting on the technology to be available to make such a game but I’d argue BGS still is far from having the technological ability for making such a game. Not to mention BGS obviously lacked the creativity and innovation to make the Starfield universe interesting. If the lore of the games universe is lame the game is ultimately doomed regardless of the tech.
It was too expansive of a game, with they focused on a solar system rather than the entire universe
If starfield worked like elite dangerous it would be hailed as one of the best games ever, instead they basically faked all the space stuff and made fallout 4 with load screens to different planets
If we can think it, why can’t they? All that time and its trash
It feels like Bethesda and Todd developed Starfield without no mans sky, star citizen and maybe Cyberpunk in mind. Like, how are you so stuck up without recognising other space games and fucking running a survey what people like about them and what not, and then incorporate it.
I really enjoyed Starfield
Only thing Todd is the God of is telling everyone that a game is so much more than it really is. And it probably could have been better if it didn’t have to work on the Series S.
I’m just gonna say it: dollar store No Man’s Sky. The hype was wasted, go nxt.
I like Starfield. And man if it came out like when Skyrim did, it was be just as big. I really think I’ll play it as much as skyrim
Starfield players don’t even talk about Starfield anymore
The second I heard how many planets they had planned and that they were going to be using random generation I knew this game was just gone even before anything else came out
Imagine all the people that were 30 hours in before realising what the game was. Aka an rpgn’t, were you have probably more meaningfull choice than in skyrim or fallout 4, but still, meh, wtf is this repetive bs with flat characters…. Guess I can’t ask for a refund now…
I can not understand hate for this masterpiece. People throw video amd pic of vacant planets. This is space scifi.. Not every inch of space have high tech density of civilization??. We know just one planet to have life as of yet by this sens universe is boring and uninteresting??
This game had so much content. Big cities so many of them. When it came out. I did 0 exploration on empty planet and still got a 100 hr playtrhough.. I wonder what is the point of showing vacant pics and video when the game is full of dense maps more than any bathesda game or scifi game ever before this.
This would’ve been huge back in 2006
I’ve played 45 mins.
Glad it was only that. 😂
This is why you never preorder and always wait til the game has been out and has actual reviews and not sponsored ones. There’s always been a bit of false advertising in gaming, but today every game not made by FromSoftware is an absolute gamble. The last time I preordered a game was Borderlands 2 back when they did the fun midnight releases at GameStop
I just want more fiction in my science fiction. Cool aliens, creative tech, artistic direction. Just couldn’t get on board with the NASA-punk style.
If you had made traversal good then you could build up the rest of the game but with a platform of load screens you’re screwed
Play either MassEffect or No Mans Sky instead of Starfield
Starfield sucks and Skyrim is severely overrated. Let the chaos begin…
Starfield feels like an egotistical response to Obsidian’s The Outer World.
“We’ll show them” – Todd Howard, probably.
Jokes aside; I can’t fathom how Starfield is the game Todd dreamed of. It is fundamentally flawed and it has zero roleplay agency.
I can’t imagine a system more counter to why people like Bethesda games than procedurally generated locations.
They should have done elder scrolls first and then starfield
Not enough things to discover, hate that everything including quests is tied to the cities, the quests are boring, the world is uninspiring.
People keep hating on starfield? Move on people. People that loved the game will keep playing and people who dont may find other game 🤷
Simps innnn SPACccccccE
Can you still run to death in a free air environment?!
Well Todd is a professional liar so idk why people keep falling for his bs
Epic Mickey to this day is still one the best concepts for a game.
it’s certainty not a legendary game for the ages like skyrim (few are) but I’ve been really enjoying starfield
Great idea extremely poor execution
It’s the multiverse “nothing matters because youre encouraged to move on to the next diagetic playthrough” plot that kills it for me.
There is not even a 1000 planets.
Sadly this will reflect on the space sim genre as a whole and they’ll think that’s the issue instead of their execution
If they put 20 more years in started. This would have been huge.
It amazes me that folks are surprised with how starfield turned out. Did you forget fraud Howard’s Fallout 76? Or how often the man has lied about his projects?
My thing is that as dated as the graphics are, as the engine is, if the story had been good, none of that would have mattered.
Like, it’s sold well enough that we’re probably going to get a sequel. And if they treat that right – which I doubt they will, regardless of how much they change mechanically, if the story is good, starfield will become the next elder scrolls in terms of game franchises that will automatically pull people to the next installation regardless of what the concept is.
Because the concept is there, but the implementation is not
you shouldn’t be excited for anything bethesda for the last few years
Wasted time fr
Starfield wasn’t a bad game. it just didn’t live up to the hype. it’s an okay game. I enjoyed it for what it was.
Worst game in history! Criminally bad!
It’s a jump-shooter rpg, not a dungeon-crawler. That’s about the only real issue with it.
Ngl the mod system on xbox is terrible but some of these “free mods” do fix a bunch of these really big problems
Lets stop the lying. It didnt matter how good Starfield was…People wanted to hate Starfield from the jump. Yall forgot the videos still exist right? All u have to do is go back & look at all the doubting & the hate b4 it even dropped, so lets stop the cap like everybody was just so excited & was disappointed. Making a review of Starfield in a week or 2 or a month isn’t possible. Its too many systems (not space systems but systems in the game) for u to even be able to make a review that quick…Skill building takes alot of time & it takes alot of time to max out different skills, & those skills make the game better. Me being a suit & weapons engineer is how i make the majority of my money & what i spend alot of my time doing. I survey planets for constilatiion, i dont leave until its 100% surveyed & take the equipment i got from the pirates on that planet, take em to my ship & engineer them so i can get more money when i take em to the trade authority in the wolf system…I have a crew of 8 on my ship, have like 7 people employed at different outpose. Me having an outpost is so i wont have to spend too much money buying resources. It takes time & skills & resources to decorate ur house & build bigger outpost. The game is what u make it. The creations add new stuff everyday damn near. All the people complaining about having to walk around planets, now they just added a shuttle that u can fly to different locations in the area with no loading screens instead of having to drive or walk, but u can still drive the little shuttle also. It is what u make it, but people didnt give it time to learn these things. People are trying to make it be like other games in the franchise instead of a whole new game franchise…I dont think people focus on the skill building. Those skills are almost like college within the game. U become an expert in that field. But ive never seen people keep talking about how bad a game is this long. U dont even hear the people that like it making videos. Why isnt nobody still talking about spiderman 2? People just sweep that under the wrong. I know
I like Starfield but i wish they made the story and characters better. It also just had so much hype that it was going to be hard to live up to it
I’m sure Todd wanted a better game than this, but the team just couldn’t deliver it. It doesnt bode well for ES6
This is way too many words just to say “yeah you should actually commit to making the game GENUINELY good” Lol
Todd was dreaming about Star Cirizen, so he made Star Citizen from Wish 😂
It was an amazing idea that wasn’t done even the slightest shred of justice
More like he lied again. And people fell for it again
The NASA-punk design looks really cool. The inside of ships did feel and look great – the NPC getting in my way. Amours were cool and some of the weapons. I love sci-fi and military sci-fi. Having starfield look like Expanse was cool. I like that grounded sci-fi look, Like BSG. Halo and so on. Shame starfield just gets boring
