When I first started playing in 2016 I played on US West 3 (before it got taken down & put up again) I was neighbors with a super generous trio who seemed like they had endless amounts of loot. We were friendly with each other until I found out that one of them was using ESP to raid, me and my friend spam reported him and in a few hours he was banned lol. But he came back on another account and told us in voice chat that it was his new alt and we spam reported that to without the trio knowing lmao. I’ve always played modded but decided to try official on force wipe… NA servers are filled with chinese and russians, been shot at through walls countless times (the worst one is someone shooting a crossy 20-25m away while i was hiding in oxums, the arrow that landed in the door was pointing straight at me when i was sitting there for 4-5 minutes already) and the worst point of all, nobody is getting banned at all on there. Garbage game full of cheaters, gg. I remember how awesome this game was 8 years ago, the gritty atmosphere, the glitches, the unhinged pvp, the teammate jump-check. It used to be awesome, now it’s just a piece of garbage riddled with “content”. Honestly, Facepunch ruined this game when they allowed people who were not authorized on your TC to build twigs and ladders on your base. Cheating and try-hards are the exact reason, despite having been gifted a copy of Rust, i will not touch it. I was already largely let down by Tarkov recently and have been an EOD backer since closed-beta. These types of games attract people who want to play seriously and for fun, but it also attracts dregs who ruin it for everyone.

The developers stance is lazy and there are many easy steps that could nerf cheating by using AI to find and lock human limits based on settings and general human limits. These limitions can be bypassed at all but set limit and use thing like speed of aim vs instability nased on sensitivities. Using basic geometrical data to map and set limits that when pass will just auto ban set lower limits of what a cheater can do with cheats. It would incude using software to track time spend aim at other players in high detail especially when that players behind a wall. Using step like when odds of being a cheater get toi high it could remove sound made by other players. It could with very simple code limit what cheat can do and effectly set lower limits forever. Deploying this with a change in laws that would require state ID to play would end most cheating as creating a fake state ID would make creating a new account a felony the government responsible to prosecute without the game developer needing to spend any money. So developer just need to come together and push on massvwith money for State ID requires or just refuse to sell to anyone without ID then all bans are generally for life or any second bans will lead to jail time.

The truth is developer can do it now under current laws by selling all games with a small super cheap alcoholic beverage to force state ID use and start the fast path to a fix. No one could stop them they could even force users to buy accounts which incude a alcohol beverage in order to force a adult ID to be used. It would mean your state ID would get a ban for life if you cheat and that’s clearly what needs to happen. People need real punishments. Time after this step will past and cheat will start dying off as only small number of people will risk a felony charge.

That’s now even counting that many cheaters actually buy skins again like they are a crack addict because they only ban them after a long enough time. It’s a pay to cheat system going on actually and many games are also adding a pay to win system like Call of duty. Shooters and survival games are becoming ever more fake were it’s just about how much money they can bleed off you not skill.

I play warzone 1 with a 6.8KD and ground with 12.8KD and played a lot of hours got a world record 68 kills no deaths in warzone playing quads solo no fill and a world record 368 kill no deaths in ground war. I played Halo reach and Halo ODST for a insane number hours manage to play both for a year each without dying. I played in many Battlefield games with a 30 or higher KD.

I don’t share this to flex but to make a point as any you should be seeing any legitimate player stats dropping if they are not cheating as cheating increases as this is basic logic. Any who stats are not falling but increasing or remaining the same are cheating. This is where the streaming problem is rooted as 90% not much greater then average and even those like IamIron who is a high level player is soft aimbot cheating and using wall hacks and radar hacks. To be clear Iamiron uses a aimbot set to lock on within something within a like a 3 degrees or less then a 1 degree aera away from the target. To a highly skilled player this only you need as this soft lock-on will remove recoil and cut time to fired delays and the wall hacks and radar hacks remove the spoting delays. The best players who are not cheating spend 90% of there use a calculate pattern of exposuring only to aeras cleared by scanning that aera with proactive aiming clearly. Cheater don’t clear most aeras remotely correctly and leave large sets of aeras they never secured and expose their back to those angles rather then using concealment correctly or putting back to a wall. You can see cheaters standing in bad spots for long sets of times because their wall hacks and radar hacks tell them no one is near them or looking their way. Must of even the skilled streamers need wall hacks and radars to play anywhere near what they did on warzone 1’s first map which had cheaters but they managable. I actual won vs most cheaters back then but most of them were soft cheating and now most are rage hacking even most streamers lying that it skill. Take any of them to a secure computer have them give you the settings they want in game and use the best hardware in the world and you will realize if would be forced to do it by the streaming platforms that 99% of guys pretending to be so great are fakes. That they can aim anywhere as goos as they fake and that their fake situational awareness is just wallhacks and radar hacks.

I run around the map in warzone 1’s first map with confidence because right off the gate my stats were rated in the top 0.001% which highest percentage rating that show and I play with a controller hipfire sensitivity of 60, ADS sensitivity 105-120, high zoom of 180 and I made it look normal to do. My hipfire was at it’s lowest 3 times faster then 99% of other players and my ADS and sniper zoom aim was 6 to 9 times faster. Going down to just 90% of players my aim was 6 times faster in hipfire, 10 times faster just normal ADS and 18 times fasters when high zoomed. I oftenly could scan find the target, fire and get a headshit before other could even pull their triggers pre-ADS super near were I was likely going to pop out. I once head on head killed 12 snipers in ground war who were all trying to shot me at the same time kill them fast with peeks so fast I scanned, aim and kill one by one and jump back in cover before their rounds fired hit me. I did this a lot and the truth is average or player not in the top 10% has a 6 to 3 second trigger pull delay. Those in the top 1% near the 1 second or below and the best get to around 360ms zone which means they scan aim and fire faster their anyones trigger pulls. I use aim programs and do things to test myself and aim has got faster and more detailed. Sadly because refuse to cheat after being in the top 0.001% players start at the age of 7 not even I can fight the insane level of aimbots taking over everything. Gaming is like a religion to me and winning with honor is very important to me.

To be clear I like IamIron as a player but he shouldn’t cheat. My problem with him started as I run into him and we rapid Peak fired at each other exchanging over 30 rounds before we both decided their was no way for us to hit as we both had a quick fire peek so fast we were back in cover before the others shot could hit. I was happy to find someone so skill untill my brother walked in and point out he was cheat but didn’t believe him. I watch IamIron stream later that day and he was cheating. I fired each time above the cover where his head would be if he did get back in cover in time. IamIron aim clearly track my head into cover and he fired were my head was all 30 times but this was below cover and would never lead to a hit. I slowed it down and watch all 30 of the time and his aim was lock-on following my head even when he reloaded each time non-stop. The fact is IamIron is a great player but my controller trigger pull was 3 times faster then his mouse click meaning he is actual slow with his mouse clicks which is likely his greatest weakness. What does this mean today? It means he would likely lose 3 times as much to a cheater if he wasn’t cheating himself and have no more then half my KD. To be clear and fair his KD would be high if no one was cheating.

The problem in streaming is people cheating even soft cheating can too easily do to good as 75% of people too bad to see the person is fake or they cheat also and don’t care allowing cheaters to out perform any legitimate player. The increase in cheating even push the legitimate players to start cheating and even move completely to cheating a hell of a lot.

Make the game rated so that young kids are not playing because it is violent. There is unknown content because you’re online with people that you don’t know so it’s 18+ rating then sue the shit out of all those people making cheats and using cheats then you’re not suing kids.

The group got smaller and we do not have the edge against these big zergs but for me personally I feel better to know not having a cheater in my group.
Lately someone asked if a friend can join our group – so after some discussion we let him play with us. He was kinda bad but its okay for us – everybody needs to practice this game. When we got raided and only me and him were online (we were in a really bad situation) he got banned by anticheat telling me in discord it has something to do with a cracked CrosshairX software (blablablabla).
He came back with a new account and wanted an invite to the group – I reported his new account and banned him from discord.
I hope he is lonely and finally stops playing rust.

no, there is usually a private bot command that you can learn from word-of-mouth for some servers which changes frequently (like the old bot on rusticated’s discord server) and there is stipulations, like being banned and/or having abilities revoked if you tell people in a public forum etc

You might be talking to a retard or an idiot… not sure. If he thinks cheat devs in rust alone are only making 1 million a YEAR your just an absolute idiot. There are solo cheat devs that make that in a week just selling rust software.

The problem is cheating has become so common, it’s no longer just really bad players obviously cheating. It’s now also good players who are highly competitive. They lose to a cheater enough times and decide to even the playing field adding their skill on top of the cheats to become competitive again. They also tend to be harder to catch because they understand the mechanics on a deeper level.

I used to run The Chads and Espez/eZeZ with Sliced. We consistently kicked everyone from our groups who scripted or cheated. We lost several players we liked. We still constantly had people scripting trying to get into the clans, even though it was known we would kick and name and shame people who were. Rust has so many problems caused by community mentality. The community is never going to develop a better mentality about these problems. They are just too toxic.

so this is just like in ark. in ark every real tribe (clan) has atleast one cheater who has hundreds of accounts that they claimed for free. im not innocent in cheating in both ark and rust. i lost multiple accs on ark and a single one on rust. in my rust clan we currently have one cheater for if someone else cheats against us. on ark every single one of the 80 players in my ark small tribes alliance had acces to cheats with my entire ally being sponsored by a cheat dev. ark is a very different game then rust as a raid can take up to multiple weeks so loosing 20 cheat accs on a single raid isnt uncommon and cheating is legit just a part of ark. hope rust doesnt go down the same path.

People cheat in video games because their dad left for cigarettes and never came back and they have a small pp they are compensating for. That simple.

I remember playing SOCOM U.S. Navy SEALs (yea, the original) and the only “cheat” that could be done was wall glitching.

Over the years, I’ve seen modded Xboxs cheat the system on Halo, I’ve seen scores on whatever given fighting games for the top 10 players hit humanly impossible numbers, it goes on and on. We’re at a point now where “pro gamers” are often caught cheating and it’s not even news anymore. Cheating will only get worse. It has for over the 20 or so years I’ve been playing online.

Why?

The same reason modern gamers generally won’t beat a game with consulting YouTube, some forums, etc., for the “how to”. It’s just easier than playing the game for ya know, the fun of it. It used to be OK to get the business from better gamers for days, maybe weeks or even months before you were any good.

Why do that, though, when you can just cheat?

I doubt you read these comments, but I think the first developer to give their ‘community’ (i.e., server admins) the proper tools to log, spectate, and collect data on players/ cheaters is going to do the best against cheating. With AI anti-cheats coming out, the more data you can feed them, the quicker you can identify > confirm > ban.

Hmm, I may be an anomaly, but what makes Rust fun for me is the terror.
I feel if I used wall hacks and aimbots then I could get resources with no fear, and win almost every engagement, and at that point, yea that would be very boring.
I think that’s what is at the core of a cheaters mentality, they just want to ‘win’ maybe their ego either needs the win, or their ego cannot handle a loss.

As a Rust player you can get on an “official” server or even a Facepunch server and be absolutely disgusting with extremely little or even no consequence. What a wonderful place to cheat. Cheaters are no different to racists and bigots- they live to enjoy the frustration and suffering of other people. Yeah, its a people issue, a human issue. If you can get away with degrading a person with hatred, dehumanising language, or threats in a game, then folks will come to cheat too. Its not about a high score, or rising to the top of a leaderboard, Rust has none of that. The only joy to be gained is schadenfreude- The enjoyment of anothers suffering. This is why theres such a big problem with stream sniping in Rust as well. These people want to watch other people have their day ruined. For the players that have been at it so long,Option 1 usually takes to long at times, and you usually you get nothing from it. It doesn’t take them long to get a new account anyway. Option 2 for most people it’s worth it, for security reasons,cost, losing everything you’ve worked for like skins, and then there’s option 3, the option I chose. Having a couple thousand hours in the game and it doesn’t matter after the summer of 22 update. Quitting is the best option at that point, sell your skins and just walk away. i think one of the biggest issues with cheating in a game in rust is the servers, theres thousands of servers with different teams so theres always servers cheaters can join and it makes it difficult for admins to know if someones cheating or not. ive got friends who are banned from some servers by admins because they thought they were scripting, which i can guarantee they dont, they try making a ticket but alot of admins have massive egos and believe theyre always right so people just get perma banned from servers

The recoil change sucked, but was the best thing that ever happened to me. I had 11k hours in the game, mostly over the pandemic. I was at the point I warmed up at 300m with ak. But… I was depressed af. I would have kept playing the game too if it hadn’t been for the recoil change. So instead I played up to the force wipe and unistalled. It was rough. It was my coping mechanism for stress. I would pop on a lecture or a podcast and practice wrestling the S for hours every day. I would get the urge to hop in discord and play with the boys several times a day, but I would always remember it just isn’t the same game. But guess what, the time wasn’t a total waste. See, to practice ak and get it just right every single time you had to learn to practice perfectly and to learn. I would sit with my hands the same exact way. My posture was always the same down to foot placement. I isolated every movement and muscle used in my hand and arm. I practiced reaction time drills and shooting while strafing, using 8x and hollo, spray transfer, head glitching, peaking, all of it. Without the game in my life I had nowhere to put that focus… Except for REAL LIFE. BOYS!!!! I’M A FUCKING 300M TRIPLE HEADSHOT 200IQ PLAYER AT REAL LIFE NOW! First of all, I’m not depressed. I got back into martial arts and working out and I am jacked af. I started 2 businesses and went back to school to double major in psychology and massage therapy. SOMEHOW I MANAGED TO PULL OFF A RELATIONSHIP WITH NOT ONE BEAUTIFUL WOMAN, BUT TWO IN A POLYAMOROUS RELATIONSHIP! I got a new Benz and last week a Lincoln MKX. I read every day. Stopped playing vanilla in 2020. Played on an off since 2013. Epic Games buying EAC and fortnite taking off was bad for Rust. Thats alot of it. Once Epic bought EAC in 2018, rust has only had a worse problem.

Tech has also gotten better and hardware ID bans are now spoofable so online gaming sadly is dying. Maybe not in popularity but fair competition.

I switched to modded servers and just play wipe day/ day 2. I miss when the game was great but its not a bad game today. Just not for me anymore on Vanilla.

Good video but I hate this entitled opinion that the AK spray was something that was taken away from people who shot at a wall hours a day every day. Coming from early rust and legacy, we didn’t have this same spray pattern to memorize and the spray pattern itself was a hold over from using placeholder counterstrike mechanics/guns. The fact it wasn’t replaced in like 2016 was always embarrassing and the fact people want it back in a movement shooter or it’s unfair others can compete annoys me. The game has changed in so many more dramatic ways, ones that often don’t suit or fit me and I’m forced to adapt, what makes your recoil spray special that it gets some exception? Because it was really hard to mater? How do you think I felt when I have to practice my AK spray to compete in a silly sandbox game now infested with an influx of tryhard 12 year olds instead of the fun old community and mechanics it used to have. I had to adapt and the game changed and improved from legacy in the same way it’s changing and improving now. Recoil sprays are just not a friendly mechanic, it’s gate keeping to anyone who isn’t gonna practice for hours and hours a day while not even playing the game. People got lives and jobs and some of us WANT new players to be able to join and play and stand a chance. i really dont understand cheating to look good because at that point youre just a poser. the guys who just goof off are a little funny, and in some games i dont mind it. i paid for a decent mod menu in gtav way back because i was tired of the other cheaters blowing me up constantly and being an ass. i would drop money to the whole lobby to fight against rockstars inflation and i had tools to crash other cheaters games and block their cheats from affecting me. i dont wanna be cringe and call it vigilantism, because its not that serious, but people in lobbies always appreciated my presence, and i had a lot of fun cleaning up lobbys this way. when they introduced one of the big updates they cracked down hard on cheating and i messed up and got banned, lost all my progress, and the menu died.

in games like vrchat mod menus are fun and let you move in interesting ways, bring quality of life improvements the game has been missing since 2017, and because of how prolific it was vrchat did actually do decent updates. unfortunately it sparked a bit of a culture war between malicious groups, people who live only in vr and have their main social life there, without a grasp on real reality, and casual/old school players. to us og players it was really neat to have anti crash and noclip, to just goof off more and have fun, to those who made it their life it was the biggest annoyance, and that caused more and more malicious groups, also people with no lives, to get egos about mods and make worse crashers and charge money for them. this huge argument lasted about 2 years with mod menus being in a gray area, until recently when vrchat officially took a stance against them.

in competitive games cheats are always cringe. youre winning but what joy does it bring you. im not that great at rocket league but i have no desire to cheat. thats not me getting that rank. in non competitive games that are more just for fun, i think sometimes it can add an interesting and fun more open experience, when not abused.

Imagine spending hundreds (thousands) of hours being a try hard, only for the developers to make one part of the game more even for anyone who has a life, and your response is to cheat.

Seriously, What’s the point? You loved the game enough to play for thousands of hours, but this update is the bridge too far? And for what? So everyone can think your recoil or aim cone RNG is more lucky, more often? Isn’t that the main argument that you’re mad about to begin with? I guess this was expressed around the 11:00 mark but goddamn, what a sad existence making pixel gathering adventure easier, by completely ruining the game for both yourself and everyone else.

*I play modded, “x” times gather/spawn rate servers pretty often, and the game looses its fun after an hour or two, depending on just how overly modded it is..always to the point where; too modded is too excessive. It becomes boring, fast. Every pixel looses the original value that the developers had intended. I can’t imagine it being fun knowing that my shots never miss, just so that I can bring more of that same loot home; knowing I pushed a button for it, and it was all but guaranteed to be in my inventory afterwards..

Played hundreds of hours on US West 2. Met some friendly neighbors once and played with them the following wipe. Had to report one of them for association who ended up getting banned. They really tried to hide it too.

i was an admin for just about 4 years. maybe close to 5. for ‘fied and cnd. i ended up kinda just frying myself out on it all and left the game behind probably a year and a half ago now. just couldnt do it anymore. it was endless. and i mean endless and _neverending_ lol. theyre *relentless* and live most their lives just trying to do what they do and get around us. it was exhausting. getting these guys and their groups only for them to be back in minutes on other accounts. rinse recycle repeat etc ya know? i loved this game. between my personal account and admin accounts ive got 10k hours. i havent loaded it up in a long time now. i still watch a couple streamers cuz theyre so fun to ride along with.

I’ve been playing Rust since Legacy and it is honestly shocking just how deep the rabbit hole is for Rust’s dark side. Cheating, DDoSing, DOXing, and just absurd amount for vile things people get up to with this game. This is the point ppl are at with COD. Cheating is rampant in just about every multiplayer shooter. We need better anti-cheat. AI will be the answer. We just need the devs to admit it’s as bad as it is, which they won’t. They down play it, which from a business standpoint is more cost effective.

Player over 4 years in Rust and over 6k hours in game.
Like many, I stopped playing right after the recoil update. Recoil would have been oke, but removing the iconic sounds was too much.

I am not shocked many veterans turned to cheating. Heck I thought of it too.
In the end I didn’t do it . I sold my skins. Made around 150$ out of them and bought new games.

Rust is a joke at this point and developers are a bunch of wannabe corporate dicks.

Here’s the thing tho it’s such a big problem that innocent players are getting banned as well. My buddy has over 11k hours and has been playing since the game was browser based and he got game banned because he was “cheating” when in reality he wasn’t and used hand cams and other stuff to prove his innocence. This has been hard for him to get back into the game because he gets banned instantly by so,e admins because they see he has a game ban on record. There is no solution :/

I say do it like CSGO , let the community help . After a certain amount of reports have a Certain players watch replays/clips and determine if the “suspect” was cheating. Obvs you’ll have multiple people decide each case to minimize innocent bans. Judges can be selected by skill level and or amount of hours played . Do this ONTOP of there current anti cheat system , I’m sure the community would love to help for free to get rid of cheater!!

In my opinion cheaters cheat because its a lot of fun, especially for a game such as Rust which has VOIP and the intrinsic nature of the game promotes some amount of toxicity/competitiveness. This contributes hugely to the satisfaction gained from cheating. Cheaters get a kick out of the reactions of the people that are subjected to their cheating such as when a 11 year old screams obscenities into the mic as you loot his body . The reactions gained from the victims of cheating are the reason cheaters will cheat.

I banned at least 30 cheaters in my rust carreer, when I used to play a lot. We need to keep taking their wipe away with every opportunity. What I found weird is that, while you say community should be involved, in your “worst player” video you don’t outright condemn that guy, saying he might have been beneficial for the community. How is building a sub community that is fine with cheating ok in any way?

Permaban everybody who plays with a cheater aswell. That would even make cheaters fear if somebody in the team uses cheaper, easy detectable cheats.

coming from a ex cheaters perspective, i see cheating as a short term entertainment and thats why every game will sooner or later die out with cheaters but there are some others causes for toggling such as others doing it or simple features that make the game look better or feel better such as remove textures or fov sliders in some cases. From cheating i can say that it depends as i found it as almost an aim trainer i mean from all the countless hours esping and aimboting with very low sensitivity so that it acted as an aim assist i was able to actually play like 5 times better without cheats as you kind of learn everyones positioning and learn spots that people commonly are at and i sub consciously now peek them every day i play but that dosent mean that its fair and i guess theres a good reason why cheats are banned but from many cheaters ive closet cheated with it seems like its just really enjoyable being able to hit clips you never were able to do until you start doing them because of muscle memory of repetitively peeking others in a certain spot to the point where you dont need an aimbot anymore your brain just does that for you

I played for 3k hours got bored and cheated and it became really addicting like seriously. Cheating is a really bad addiction that I have no idea how to explain. And I didn’t use a spoofer the first time I cheated so now I have an hardware ban and just wanna play rust legit again.

I think there has been a societal shift as well… We need to reinforce ideas of sportsmanship, fair play, and what ‘game’ means.
It is a competition with self and character basically.

I think it’s a totally wack excuse to use a certain wipe or change to the game as a reason to ruin others’ experiences and cheat, period. That whole toxic clan renaming antagonizing or whatever stuff is super childish and has to be maturely dealt with lol, if you choose to play rust on some competitive clan level you’re kinda putting yourself into an environment that’s bound to be toxic around all those people eventually, that’s your choice; dealing with it by cheating *as well* just ruins the games for others and eventually yourself as well, cheating saps the enjoyment and replay value anyway. Additionally using *money* as a reason or excuse to cheat is a very poor reason lol, a few hundred dollars even? unless you’re a massive developer with a lot of customers i dont see this as a proper time value takeaway ratio. A few hundred dollars from god knows how many hours of messing about and wasting accounts or creating new ones or buying new ones and then how many hours wasted ingame testing or even contacting or communicating with a buyer who’s a reliable cheater (gl w that as well),,, you’re unlikely to have a lawsuit on a smallscale but it’s still pretty dumb imo vs just having a legitimate moneymaking job making more and playing for fun lol

Cheaters have plagued FPS’ for decades… it’s purely ego based and at the end of the day, they have a false impression of themselves being good that spreads into their real lives and thus proceed to have emotional and mental breakdowns ‘cos they can’t find the cheat sheet for their sad reality of an unsuccessful, basement boy lifestyle. It’s really them who lose in the long run.

This is really well done. Rust and Tarkov are pretty much my two favorite shooter games ever, and it’s such a shame to see cheating get as bad as it has in both games. I have no sympathy for any of the individuals in this video regardless of what led them to start cheating, and I think your point about cheating being just as much a community problem as a developer problem is spot on. Yes, there is a lot more that can be done in terms of active administration and more advanced anticheat features, but the community also need to be doing as much as possible to report and shame cheaters.

EAC is fucking terrible btw, not only doesn’t it work, it is also partially owned by tencent, who is now kneedeep in your OS, and to top it off, normal rust servers don’t allow you to use linux due to EAC, even though other games that use it do. It’s literally retarded

I feel like every since the new recoil update the game became stale asf, i spent alot of hours practicing recoil control to the point that i would be frequently reported upon killing some1. this was extremeley funny to me, seeing people become so upset after i killed them, i would farm clips of people shouting extreme profanity to me or they would come online raid me in the middle of the night. All of this was what made the game so fu and real to me, getting rewarded with all of these funny interactions after spending quite some time in the ukn servers. but when they changed the recoil, i had no impressive spray anymore i couldnt just turn around and double/triple the people shooting at me, i just became average. yes i still do win most of my fights due to ghamesense, but its nowhere as fun as simply destroying some1 with my spray control. And back in the old recoil days i actually stood a chance against cheaters, now i just get destroyed. by people with esp, aimbot soft aim etc. I really hope they implement some kind of way to have old recoil and new recoil servers, because they literally just took out one of the key parts of the game without warning, its the same as fortnite, dont u think alot of people wouldve startet cheating or leave the game if they just completely removed building, taking out key compartemnts of the game especially when it comes to pvp, is a disater waiting to happen

The thing about cheating in games especially ones that cost money is that it has and will always be a revenue stream. As much as companies/devs say they do everything to get rid of cheaters its not really true because they make up for a large amount of the revenue made. Devs don’t want cheaters to just not be able to play they want them to play but get banned if that makes sense so they have to buy a new account making the devs money. While its prob expensive af look at Valorant with their kernal shit. I’ve played that game for at least a few hundred hours and I’ve seen one cheater and he got banned on round 2 just shows how effective something a little more intrusive/custom I guess can be. Another pretty crazy example of this is tarkov that game makes at least like 50% of their money from cheaters buying new accounts. And you know when you really think about it I cant blame the devs so many players play without ever spending a penny on the game after the initial purchase and making money in this industry is pretty tough.

The guy you interviewed (admin->cheater) was such a dumbass. Constantly contradicting himself in the SAME sentences, trying to justify cheating as if it is inevitable n shit. All I got from that guy is that cheaters are entitled and simply not that smart in the brain, which helps with justifying cheating to yourself, I suppose.

There is no solution in any game for cheating problem 🙂 you can reduce cheating but you can’t remove hackers completly thats absolutely not possible

I was one of the people who saw success on YouTube from the old recoil and teaching people how to practice effectively. My content took an entirely new direction afterward. I did say at the time that cheating was going to get much worse. I warned that ESP would become a lot more common. I felt mocked by a lot of other creators that my stance was basically that this change in development would cause a lot of problems. Some agreed but most didn’t. A couple of things I think could help this problem: Make it so you need to authenticate your identity to play on your account. Another would be a very intrusive anticheat. I think EAC is named “easy anti cheat” because bypassing it is easy. Another issue we have is that cheaters are able to make videos of them cheating and sniping creators and uploading that footage to YouTube. I hope a policy change will see those channels removed in the future as it’s free advertisement for cheaters’ tools. A lot of servers have rules that allow recidivism to take place (i.e. you can have a game ban if it’s 180 days old, teammates don’t get banned if they’re caught playing with a cheater). Another thing I hope to see in the future is the complete removal of battlemetrics and a standardized set of plugins that admins can use to detect cheats SHARED with every server owner. I’ve seen the plugins that some servers use and it’s laughable what they can use to catch cheaters. Some servers are going so far as to develop their own anticheat plugins, which caused me, a legit player, to catch a ban. I got it removed but still. I would prefer that each server owner have access to the same tools, but currently this isn’t happening because server owners are spending their own money to create their own intellectual property (anticheat) that they don’t really want to give out for free. Lastly, in regards to battlemetrics, I think it’s nuts. If you’re a creator you have to pay to get your info scrubbed from this website otherwise cheaters will share every time you go live and say what server you’re on to everyone. Then these players follow you around in game hoping to get clips or to use you as free advertisement for their cheats. Making that money helps them buy new accounts.

I chose option 3. I quit Rust. I really liked it at first. The competitiveness aspect drove me, game had huge potential, but it was unmanaged and now we’re here. The only server I had fun was a Polish server who had mostly Poles and sometimes Chechs and Lithuanians (Russians banned day one war in Ukraine and cause they cheat like crazy).

Server was managed by a community, wasn’t competitive-by-force on players, those who wanted to fight heavily build in heavy locations (snow, middle), those who wanted a “noob” experience could have seen their bases last thru the whole wipe. Toxicity was quickly cut down, noobs were not harassed and even there was a unspoken rule that noobs should be helped (for labor like sulfur or for laughs), could be trolled, like got their base raided, but with a note that if they want it all back, its gonna be 5k sulfur, etc. Server had a lot of very experienced players who apart of forming a community, didn’t need or want to cheat and cause they had skill they caught cheaters quickly, staff was super quick to react. I learned the game there, really really liked it. And then I joined the public server. Oh my.

So, the future of Rust – if there is any – is within local communities. At some point, I’ll forget about my previous experience and retry Rust. But the time is not here yet and will not be for many more years.

I watched another video about the problems of cheating in Tarkov, and apparently there is a solution to cheating which is being implemented right now into many games, so they claim: AI cheat detection methods.

That is, AI monitors the play style of players, and if it recognizes that they’re playing in a “non human” way, it boots them, with apparently almost 100% accuracy (That is, no false positives).

I love to see Facepunch dealing with this, the game is meant to be toxic, but their developers and staff team (especially Errn) are even more toxic then their community. Yeah, its really lame the state of the game even with FP doing alot to make the experience on the game easier. I’ve completely turned away from pvping and became a roleplayer whom only build traps for loot, its a shame that if you go out farm a guy/team suddenly comes from 2+ grids far straight for you with their ESPs, Its in a state that even trying to flank ppl on dense forests with camo skins is becoming kinda impossible, its just crazy and I dont have the age to stress myself with brainless kids that use third party software to have the upper hand. So I just collect their salt tears on my “noob trapbases l2p the game” and am happy with it.

I will say as a PC gamer i actually do not wanna be here anymore and i’m thinking about buying one of the next gen consoles a point where i’m thinking about walking away from PC gaming due to the PC master disgrace cheating in so many games .

There is an AI anti cheat solution, however, it would probably cost us some monthly sub, but I would be down for it as one who spent almost 7k hours dealing with cheaters almost on a daily basis.
