Storytelling aside, The Last of Us franchise has undeniably great third-person shooting and movement mechanics. It’s nice to see them play more into that. I’m hoping that whatever the next installment in the franchise has instore will focus more on a balance of the two.

Jake is being way too nice here. That’s one problem I have with Gameranx, they pull their punches on games that deserve to get blasted. I cannot recall a game other than Redfall that they actually criticized.

Sony can charge whatever they want, there is nothing wrong with making a profit. But this is a gratuitous unnecessary cash grab for a remaster with middling improvements. It should be free of charge for current owners of the game.

Thus also proves that Sony has every intention of porting their remasters and remakes to the PS6 for full price.

TLOU is a masterpiece of storytelling and the second one was a brutal and tragic discussion on human nature and how an unstoppable focus on rage and revenge along with an unwillingness to communicate can decimate us as a species. Joel’s decisions in the first game led to a nightmare domino effect that cascaded wayyy beyond him, destroying lives and inevitably, humanity. It was such a hard game to play and watch, but I get it… and I’ll give the masterpiece another run now that I have an OLED with VRR. Plus I hate online multiplayer games so… easy buy for me

The last of us one and 2 are some of the greatest games ever made. I hate the way they did Joel but it is still an amazing game and story. I just wish they would have had us play as Abby at the very start before showing how she did Joel. Make me care about her and her story before having her murder one of my fav game characters of all time. That would have made all the difference.

I love this game and franchise as a whole more than I’ve loved any game that I’ve ever played in my life. I didn’t play TLOU for the first time until I played the original Remastered on PS4 right around the time Part II came out in 2020. I played the original and Part II back to back, and I’ve never felt the things that I felt emotionally during that first playthrough of each before or since. This franchise got me through the darkest days of my life, as cliché as that is to say, but I’ve also never gotten so immersed into a game’s story and gameplay as I did with The Last Of Us in general. Did this game NEED a remaster this soon? Absolutely not. I don’t think it should have been remastered or remade at all until the next console, in my opinion. But I get why they struck while the iron is hot.
I pre-ordered the physical game to add to my collection and I’m chomping at the bit to get to sink hours upon hours into this game again this weekend.

I dunno Jake I can totally tell a big difference in graphics. It’s not huge but you can see everything is cleaned up and if you have a newer Oled all the highlights light up and game looks a lot better then the grainy ps4 version! Also the framerate mode makes the game really smooth too!

LoU 2 already looked fantastic on the PS5. The frames almost never dipped on current gen hardware. Is the new mode basically what the full price tag is for? I know they rebuilt this on a new engine, but seriously? I loved this game when it came out but it’s just too soon for this remake/remaster and we get almost no truly noticable differences. If you never played LoU 2 I would absolutely recommend it, but for those of us that have played through this, however many times, are you really going to buy this?

Shouldve added that the different characters you can play in the roguelike mode all have different characteristics…and emphasizing the Lost levels more. More games should ad stuff like that where you can see and play such an in depth part of the making of the game. With dev commentary and stuff… just perfect for people who actually liked the game, and I’m sure anyone into game design would love it as well

LoU2 did drag on a little but i hate to complain about too much of a great game. My son would watch me play these games and he’d see me repeat the same encounter over and over and he would ask “You got past it the first time why did you restart the encounter 8 more times???” And I would say “Because the last time I didn’t waste those 2 extra bullets.”

I like the new mode – as it looks to me like the rescued pieces of the live service game – or put basically, they canned the game, but had all this stuff they could use for something else – so why not add to a remastered version of their last game. If nothing else, I am looking at it as I bought the original Pt2, and for £10 I can upgrade to better visuals and have the new mode – which I will probably play more than some other games I have paid more for.

How exactly do no-hit speedruns work? Like, are there specific moments in the game where you unavoidably get hit, like during a cutscene or when you take damage, and do they consider it as a hit or do they just disregard it since you can’t do anything about it?

I know this game gets mixed feelings but I for one greatly enjoyed it. The game is dark, well balanced, challenging but fair and pretty shocking in parts as a survival/action horror game should be. Definitely not for everyone though. Thanks for the video

I appreciate the Naughty Dog is doing it as a £10 upgrade. They have done performance balancing and a new mode but wouldn’t be worth the £70. 4K 30fps looked horrible. I am HEAPS happy for this release, however I have heard only digital owners of PS4 part 2 get the discounted price? I hope its not true, since I have a prefer hard copies when possible.

No one wanted this. Should have been a free DLC if anything. New game needs to leave the OG characters alone. Let them be. We need new characters traveling. I’m actually planning on picking it up physical. I have the PS4 version but never finished it, so getting a physical on PS5 to add to my collection is nice and the price of it isn’t terrible either.

The only complaint I have about this is that No Return isn’t coop. Other than that it’s a $10 DLC for NR and a few other small changes.

Ive actually been very lucky in having nit played the first one passed the girst hour until last month. I went to buy yhe second one right after beating the first and noticed that i had to wait for the remaster on PS5. I havent had any spoilers and im honestly fairly excited to play

Well, this is another waste of time. Part two was already trash compared to part one and now almost 5 years later you’re giving us the exact same game. The graphics are not some crazy improvement. It’s the same exact game instead of getting a new game.

I just beat the game on ps4 2 days ago from now. I did wish the ending was better but I thought it was good for what it was. However I think the game should have ended when Ellie was at the house. That would have been a better ending.

If you ignore the hate train people, this game is actually very brutal and awesome 💀

This was a horrible let down of a sequel. Ruined by predictable ideology forced into the story.

TLOU central point is Joel’s choice at the end of Part I, so Part III could be about Ellie being on a mission to get a special young boy from point A to point B. It would be a redemption story for her, being put in Joel’s shoes. What choice would she take?

I got the disc for $20 and have been playing it on my PS5 and it looks good enough for me.

I literally have tlou2 downloaded on my ps5 from when I bought it digitally from the store when it came out. But the ps store isn’t giving me the option to get the new one for $10, it says I have to pay full price. Does anyone know why this might be happening?

Not a big fan of this game but I can’t deny that the gameplay is good and it’s a decent upgrade for 10 bucks the first game is 1 of my favourite games of all time that will never change

Sony barely has any 1st party exclusives coming out this year so i can understand from a business point of view why they remastered a 4 year old game but i don’t think the $10 upgrade is worth it unless they added multiplayer just like the first game had. It would’ve sold a ton.
