Maggie was a cunt on this show…a typical pre menopausal bitch…Marty was tired of her and her bullshit so he cheated probably because she wasnt giving it to him at home. Who wants to be intimate with a nasty toxic person?? And her saying this hateful shit to Rust who has nothing to do with this just accentuates the point. The reason why i think this show is top 5 all time tv series is because of how truthful it is. And then the cherry on top is her fucking Rust when he was in a dark place knowing he was vulnerable. 90 pct of woman do exactly this…alas this is why she is a cunt not the actress but the role she is playing.
Maggie is grimy as hell. Hot as hell too, but even more grimy. She had her cheat all lined up, left him to drag Rust into the fray. Just to twist the knife in Marty.
She realized what she had said at the end. Well, she’s pissed off; she needed to lash out, it’s understandable. But that was a really low blow, to call him a bad husband, knowing his marriage blew up because of something extreme like a child dying.
Rust tells her that men and women don’t work together, and then she proves his point exactly by assuming he is different but then lumping him in with every other “rational” man. Women are irrational, men are rational. Nothing will ever change that.
Rust is a dark character surrounded by other characters who enable him to stay in his darkness rather than lift him out of it. Marty kind of tries to lift him out of it but loses patience.
This is something I learned very late in my adult life – man or woman, someone decides to cut you down and say something with intent to hurt in the middle of an honest conversation just walk away. No clever comebacks, no cinematic blow out, just look right through them as if it didn’t mean a thing.
marty came into work that time with a “high tide” on him (after cheating the night before), and now he has a “tide” of apologies haha you can really tell someone really put a lot of thought into the writing with this show
It’s kind of sad how all the loser incels took so hard to this character with all his issues, because the writer didn’t intend to create solace for people who contribute nothing to society except compulsory tax dollars.
No Maggie not as good as your husband, in fact let’s ask your husband what he thinks. Oh wait, let’s wait for him to finish tossing that hot court clerk’s salad…
The real kicker is that Rust more or less explained to Maggie why he had gotten a divorce. The death of his child had been a bomb that destroyed it. So her comment hit multiple nerves, the implication/condemnation of him as a husband and even as a father. He clearly loved his former wife to have gotten married then had a child with, only to lose both from as result of a terrible accident was cruel beyond reasoning.
I honestly thought Maggie was always full of it. Sure she is a cheated woman but she always makes it personal against both Marty and Rust. First she insults Rust and then she f… him to spite Marty.
Maggie said something that hurt Rust to his core and immediately regrets it. She knew the words and said them, and wish she could take them back. Very good acting
00:52 After the amount of divorces and breakups I’ve witnessed in my life I have to agree with that. Cohles pessimistic views made him the most relatable and realistic character I’ve ever come across in a show.
Can’t blame Maggie for what she did. In the depths of her rage at Marty, she shows up at a time when she knows Rust would be blackout drunk and, well. He cashed in that IOU for mowing the lawn. Also, I love how she prods his reluctant ass into giving excellent, solid advice that makes everything make sense and fall into place
It’s a bit of a throwaway line in this scene, but to imagine the shortcomings of others as an expression of their weakness or pain is actually quite profound and interesting to play with. I wanted to talk about it a little.
I’ve been meditating on this line when someone upsets or hurts me, and it’s allowing me to be a more empathetic and emotionally strong person.
When someone hurts us somehow, many of us tend to catastrophise and spiral, taking their action as an insult to a deeper part of our being. It’s a form of the prevalent self important attitude Rust refers to in the interrogation room. Someone’s failure pathologically warps in our psyche into more than what it is – it becomes an attack on our identity, or at its extreme, a manifestation of being repudiating us.
This sounds dramatic, but it’s observably true. How many people completely break because of the moral or practical failure of another? I know people neurotically haunted years later by a single insult from a family member. I know people who are afraid to engage with life because of a trivial past hurt. I know people who carry so much pain and anxiety around with them because they allowed the simple failure of someone else to fester and grow to be so much more than that.
Dr Gabor Maté says when someone fails or hurts us, we project their “intention” in doing so onto them, and we usually project what hurts us the most. The hurt we feel often isn’t representative of reality.
Of course, as Rust says, it’s truly not about us. Very few people who hurt you genuinely have it out for you, and even if they do, it’s just an expression of their pain and weakness, and who isn’t carrying so much pain and weakness around with them? How many times has the very real pain you feel caused you to hurt someone close to you? If we could all be strong enough to view the failures of others as expressions of pain, and to forgive them for that, I think we’d be in a better place.
Such great acting from everyone in this series! This season of True Detective is one of the best series EVER in my opinion. It’s right up there with Sopranos, Deadwood, True Blood etc
Here Rust is trying to the right thing by helping his partner mend his broken marriage and gets tossed one of the lowest insults ever. Rust was Quick to call both Marty & Maggie on there BS, didn’t sugarcoat it just told them what time it was on multiple occasions.
This 1st season is the Goat of Television & that’s Coming from a Sicilian from Chicago who is a Sopranos Die hard
Love how Maggie’s “short change the wrong things” comment is a response to Rust saying he still needs Marty to watch his back. How is trying to make sure your partner isn’t distracted in life and death scenarios the wrong thing? Lol
I thought it was very interesting, throughout the show you can see how much Maggie longs for something from Rust, A friend, a lover, whatever, and except in a moment of weakness he isn’t willing to give her or anyone else any of that.
1:00. Rust tries to connect in a sincere honest way to solve a problem, but she couldn’t be strong and had to go catty. Rust handles it perfectly right after.
Maggie’s a lot more emotionally aware than Marty, so she must have realized she was projecting on Rust just like her husband does 😅 too proud to take it back though.
The writing in this show is so exceptional. On paper, Maggie should be a universally sympathized with, and subsequently liked character. However, they weave in these scenes (of course culminating in her fucking rust) where you almost can’t stand but to also dislike her. How she treats her only ally in the situation, rust, is telling as to who she is. Obviously, she’s a better spouse than Marty, but there really isn’t anything likable from her own persona
Okay, here’s my evaluation of the cluster fck of relationships in this amazing show: Marty is a pretty bad husband, cheating on his wife, taking his family for granted and expecting them to 100% accommodate him without seeing their wants and wishes. Through that, Maggie got very bitter in turn, which is understandable, yet this lead her to be somewhat generalising towards cops and men as crude and imbecile (which I also believe is pretty bad). This is shown here where she first says rust is like “the rest of them” and insults him out of an expectation that he must have been a bad romantic partner merely because of his gender / profession. About rust in turn we don’t know much, except that he lost his daughter which killed his marriage. It is very understandable that a low blow like Maggie’s would hit extremely hard. Even though Rust’s evaluation of “people fuck up” is somewhat lacking since it doesn’t address the cause of maggie’s relationship issues, it is very characteristic of him: he believes that people are programmed to do what they do, and that everyone is guilty deep down. It is smart of him though to attribute Marty’s actions to weakness and pain, because that’s what I believe too. Whether this is a good excuse for Marty is a different question though. In all honesty, I think Marty and Maggie are just not good for each other: Marty is bossy, violent and self centred and Maggie has little regard for his emotions and their validity. I think she is also hyper critical where she could instead communicate in a more productive way. Rust, of course, has no interest in getting involved with all that though.
rust’s own disillusionment about marriage is what makes him justify marty’s cheating to maggie. a hostile response was deserved, but she took it too far…and by the look on her face, she knows it.
people shouldn’t demonize maggie. every character in this series is hugely flawed.
She’s just as bad as Marty when it comes to infidelity. Cheating for revenge is still cheating. She brought herself down to his level and for no other reason than to get even, to cause more pain
for all we know rust was a good husband and maggie telling him that ironically hit him on a certain level. losing his daughter caused him to become the way he was. he probably wouldn’t cheat but being so miserable (and his wife was probably devastated as well) there’s no surprise his marriage fell apart
Never liked the addition of Maggie. Marty and Rust both went through the jungle in this show, they had real reasons to complain and be salty. The theme of the show is basically miserable people experiencing misery in a miserable manner.
Then u get Maggie, who is miserable but the source of that misery is that she deals with a husband that has typical male urges.
i especially like how he does not take any of her vindictive and vicious comment at the end.
she knew it would hurt him
he did not tolerate that shit for one second and you can clearly see how she realizes she fucked up
lol, this is so lifelike. Clearly Maggie really likes Rust, it was evident from the first time they met, that if Rust wasn’t careful, they’re were going to fuck. But Maggie, like all betrayed women, lashes out at Rust when she wants to say these things to Marty. The show is quite brilliant.
Iove this scene. After all the nihilistic philosophy, all the clever atheistic rationalisations at the end of the day rust is just a man in pain and very very brittle. “You must have been a great husband”
Immediately leaves.
It is a deep need for most human beings to find a partner and built a truly lasting relationship. Maybe the underlying, evolutionary reason is to raise children but whatever that is true or not, people want lasting, monogamous love. That’s why I hate it when people start talking like Rust does. They try to project their weakness on others.
1:08 Just for you guys to know. This is good example of what you should do when you have an argue with a woman and out of nowhere she start talking shiet you’re sensitive about, just know that that you just’ve won the fight, just stand up and go, and she’ll be pissed!! )
lol, how do people think Rust was right? At the end of the day his posturing about how humanity was all a big mistake, even if he genuinely believes it, is glossing over the idea that people are making choices. Him saying “well, we’re malfunctioning animals, we can’t help it” is just a more intellectual dodging of responsibility as Marty saying “I just gotta blow off steam to go be a family man.”
they kept throwing him in the middle of their relationship and despite all this his Marty’s kids were still messed up because sense thins tension in the family
Notice how Rust just doesnt straight leave. He waits a moment to check her reaction to see if she is willing to take back what she just said. When she don’t, he finally walks. Great acting
She’s hurting, so she lashed out in the bitterness of her situation…. To be fair. Even if what he said was true… Expecting a heartbroken wife to just accept it with the same level of stoicism it took rust himself years to cultivate is unfair.
Frankly, while her actions were low, they were also very understandable…. I personally don’t blame her. And to her benefit, u can see that she at the very least had the presence of mind to regret that last jab at rust.
And while it probably stung… I don’t believe rust held it against her
Let people be angry if they need to. It’s too early for her to be rational. Marty took his time to fuck because he needed to.
Maggie needs time to just consider that no one is perfect.
Anger or sexual tension or else. People need to express emotions.
And for the record, that’s just a story.
Maggie doesn’t exist. And so doesn’t Rust.
(#000)
This is my favourite scene. The delivery, facial expressions, body language, tone, etc are sublime. The shot of Maggie through the glass at the end is perfection. She instantly realized that final comment was a mistake.
only the words
….kids are the only reason for this m w drama…..marty cheating will loose also the kids and thats a fact…..no excuse but to explain that marty is total in panic not loosing wife but kids. sry only facts but like moet people women or man cant talk rational about some things….rust did
1:27 that is the face of a woman who knows she said something unforgivable to the one person whom she considers closest to a friend she has in this awful situation, and realized her actions have doomed her to dealing with this mess alone. The worst part is, she knows rust is just being rust and telling it how it is, and that it was unfair of her to involve him in this personal drama knowing the friction between these two men already.
Love all the “classic female wamen” comments here. This scene is about someone who’s projecting their anger onto others, while the other constantly keeps reminding them that it’s none of their business. It’s no different than “you women are all the same” stuff guys say. The best response in this situation is to walk away, so the other can do some self-reflection of their own instead of taking it out on others.
Rust’s character is a man that lives by his convictions-convictions gleaned on the true base nature of humans. Few people live like this….that is why we like him so much.
Was the “Malboro man” the inspiration for Rust’s character? Every ciggy is drawn deep and slow-huge drags not little puffs….looks soooooo satisfying……excuse me….just gotta light up.
I love how rust is clearly hurt by that comment but he never holds it against her. He understands the situation she’s in and knows that she doesn’t mean it.
lmao do y’all even watch the show? In the end of the day, Martin cheated on Maggie, not once, but a bunch of time. She was always by his side, at home taking care of the kids, and he was out there cheating. Sure his work was of the toughest, but if stress becomes a justified reason to cheat then f*ck me noone should deserve marriage.
This situation has been true for many men and women. Remember, everyone deserves a 2nd chance, but Martin had more than one. And you blame her for “acting out” and “haymaking”? What the fuck is wrong with you?
It’s ironic maggie telling rust that he is short changing the wrong thing just because rust is more interested in catching a murderer than in getting involved with other people’s drama
Maybe he thinks that way because his daughter died and his marriage died soon after? Like the daughter hold it together in the First place? Just quoting philosophy and using philosophic terms and concepts while complaining does not make him the role model for some Red pill MGTOW bullshit. He is more than that. And this is pretty clear when they show the all day montage ten years later. Rust was often right a about Marty. But Marty was right about Rust more than once too. He is broken, bleed out without being dead until they finally bring down the Yellow King.
“a clean break is good while their still young” quite possible the dumbest line of all time and expecting rust to get involved is quite literally the most selish self absorbed thing maggie couldve done, i dont care she cheated on marty with rust but it was how she used him while he was in a vulnerable place for her own selfish agenda
In the end Rust was the one that was right. He realized that the only reason for marriage is reproduction and our emotions just complicate things and, in the end, everything will fall over time. Maggie had an accusatory tone when she said that Rust ducks under rationality, but in the back of her head she knew that Rust was right. After all, Rust had the experience and realized the truth.
Jesus people in the comment bitching about “all women are all the same”, stfu.. Your own shitty experiences doesn’t mean everyone’s in the same bag
Rust leaving like a boss btw
“Kids are the only thing that matters.” And this scene perfectly exemplifies why people like Maggie and Marty’s character need to stop having them. They don’t give a fuck about the kids, at the end of the day. It’s all about them. They need to end their lines and die out, for the sake of the species, and the rest of the world.
What really makes this scene is the consistency of the characters and the cinematography. Maggie is justifiably embittered with the concept of marriage/men in general and vents her frustrations on Rust, who from his own perspective is being perfectly earnest, aware Marty is taking his family for granted and Maggie’s resulting burdens. Considering Rust’s own experience with marriage and a family of his own, it’s no small wonder he’d take extreme umbrage at the presumption that Maggie knows anything about Rust’s marriage. Frustrated with this pageantry, and not wanting to be involved to begin with, he simply leaves. The last shot shows Maggie reflecting on what she’s said while the focus shifts to reveal Rust’s literal reflection as he leaves.
Maggie is a nurse. How much of a bitch on wheels does a nurse have to be to not land a doctor or another high-quality scientific man she meets at work as a husband? Obviously Maggie didn’t have the high marriage market value to marry anyone better than the crude and thoughtless Marty.
Maggie’s really the reason why Rust and Marty never truly solved the case until 10 years later. Maggie used Rust to get to Marty which ended in Rust quitting and the case ending right there.
this is textbook example of what you do when a woman’s acting out. you don’t yell, you don’t act aggressive. you straight up leave because she’s lost her privileges with you
I liked how Rust told both Maggie and Marty that it is none of his business what is going on with their relationship, he told them both multiple times, i really have a great respect for this man.
And then the cherry on top is her fucking Rust when he was in a dark place knowing he was vulnerable. 90 pct of woman do exactly this…alas this is why she is a cunt not the actress but the role she is playing.
0:50 “We age. Men, women. It’s not supposed to work except to make kids.”
Old folks, is this true ? I’m a male in my early 20s with few experience.
The best wordless F8765 Off ever……
Must be nice to be able to smoke in restaurants.
Hey… Dobbey!!!
Yerup!!
I never liked Marty.
But Jesus I hated Maggie.
Maggie is grimy as hell. Hot as hell too, but even more grimy. She had her cheat all lined up, left him to drag Rust into the fray. Just to twist the knife in Marty.
Maggie is just as awful as Marty.
Smokes in restaurants
She realized what she had said at the end. Well, she’s pissed off; she needed to lash out, it’s understandable. But that was a really low blow, to call him a bad husband, knowing his marriage blew up because of something extreme like a child dying.
God, that lady was trash.
The more i watch this show..the more i realised that Rust didn’t deserve what Marty and Maggie put him through
She straight up bodied him and shouldnt have looked round when he left
And then she f*cked him after lol. Women 🙄
That was super easy for him to walk off after her bitchy attitude. Only because he did not want to be there in the first place.
Amazing show, and what a cunt she is.
Rust’s exit was grand! As soon as bullcrap started, no need for explanation and back and forth, he justs effs her off like a champ. Excellent 👍
Telling a woman that it’s not about her is probably the best way to nuke a conversation
Men to some extent look at sex as transactional and most women look at it as an investment. An obligation. An IOU.
Men and women aren’t compatible. Marriage is a fools errand.
Rust doesn’t fuck around. This is the moment when he lost all respect for her. Respect she never earned back.
Great camera shot at the end.
Women aren’t used to being called out on their BS. Rust handled this situation perfectly.
Jesus Christ, I would have slapped her if she said that to me, good on rust for keeping his cool.
Rust: this is none of my business
Also Rust: *bangs her later*
Maggie was the true villain of True Detective Season 1.
was this before or after they bang?
Impressive. Very nice. Let’s see Paul Allen’s partner’s cunt wife
A backhand would have been fully warranted
This is something I learned very late in my adult life – man or woman, someone decides to cut you down and say something with intent to hurt in the middle of an honest conversation just walk away. No clever comebacks, no cinematic blow out, just look right through them as if it didn’t mean a thing.
Not saying a word, just leaving, is so powerful.
marty came into work that time with a “high tide” on him (after cheating the night before), and now he has a “tide” of apologies haha you can really tell someone really put a lot of thought into the writing with this show
Women. Can you believe they let them vote?
Damn she can read him like a book
Meggie was lowkey flirting with rust long before they actually had an intercourse. (Change my mind)
It’s kind of sad how all the loser incels took so hard to this character with all his issues, because the writer didn’t intend to create solace for people who contribute nothing to society except compulsory tax dollars.
is it just me or did they always have this weird tension
Negatism vs Realism. There is a middle-ground of course: Beer (in moderate amounts), sorry, I mean Pragmatism!
They had more chemistry than her and Marty
I like the little detail, that he always breaths the cigarette’s smoke in and never out.
After being cheated on recently by my gf im on maggies team here hahaa. BEST FKN SHOW OF ALL TIME !
No Maggie not as good as your husband, in fact let’s ask your husband what he thinks. Oh wait, let’s wait for him to finish tossing that hot court clerk’s salad…
She always wanted to fuck. Lets be real. The tension was always there.
You know you’re stupid when Rust leaves the chat literally after you bomb him with an insult
I honestly thought Maggie was always full of it. Sure she is a cheated woman but she always makes it personal against both Marty and Rust. First she insults Rust and then she f… him to spite Marty.
Anyone else find Maggie as distasteful and almost as much of a villain as a victim?
Maggie said something that hurt Rust to his core and immediately regrets it. She knew the words and said them, and wish she could take them back. Very good acting
Women are good at petty n tedious manipulation. Men seek it out but were good at strong manipulation when poked.
So many incels in the comment section.
00:52 After the amount of divorces and breakups I’ve witnessed in my life I have to agree with that. Cohles pessimistic views made him the most relatable and realistic character I’ve ever come across in a show.
Rust will abandon morals just to see Marty keep what he lost. Good partner Rust, but your a broken family man using your job to escape the pain.
was this before or after he doggy style her?
This is a woman who deserves to be alone, frankly.
She makes me think of the Bill Burr line. “You know what makes women happy? Nothin’.”
Rust just doest give a flying f about drama. He spits facts.

Sigma male prototype
Love how Rust didn’t say a word after that insult and just left the chat

The reason Rust is full of shit in all his rants if my 2 year old daughter died and i had the outlook of rust get some balls take your life.
1:00. Rust tries to connect in a sincere honest way to solve a problem, but she couldn’t be strong and had to go catty. Rust handles it perfectly right after.
Rust is no simp and it drives women crazy that’s why she later shows up at his place and wants to get fucked by him
And he left her with the bill. My man.
Maggie, her parents and children are the most annoying characters on the show!hands down!
He ended up f#@king her…then kicked her out! 🤣🥴
Maggie’s a lot more emotionally aware than Marty, so she must have realized she was projecting on Rust just like her husband does 😅 too proud to take it back though.
Want to make a guy who doesn’t even want to be someplace to begin with leave? Start talking shit, lol.

Great camerawork

I love Rust but I’m not going to defend him here. He was putting his own interests first. He got upset and left because Maggie called him on it.
Maggie wants Rust to absolutely drill her brains out soooo bad
after all these years: still fuckin’ gold.
The only flaw TD has is it’s sexist fans, blaming Maggie for shit she didn’t even do.
rust’s own disillusionment about marriage is what makes him justify marty’s cheating to maggie. a hostile response was deserved, but she took it too far…and by the look on her face, she knows it.
people shouldn’t demonize maggie. every character in this series is hugely flawed.
I don’t know what to feel about his S’s…
rust told the truth. as a species we are not hard wired tobe monogamous.
This scene is just about the doughnuts for me.
She’s right though.
she litteraly ruined everything
Now that’s an accurately written female character
“Even your mother thinks you are a ball-breaker”
I can’t get over how handsome he is
Rust got a strong whiff of high tide at the end, and left her quick..
She’s just as bad as Marty when it comes to infidelity. Cheating for revenge is still cheating. She brought herself down to his level and for no other reason than to get even, to cause more pain
Damn being able to walk away from a woman that fine. Good on you, Rust.
She knows she fucked up too.
for all we know rust was a good husband and maggie telling him that ironically hit him on a certain level. losing his daughter caused him to become the way he was. he probably wouldn’t cheat but being so miserable (and his wife was probably devastated as well) there’s no surprise his marriage fell apart
Did you see that? That´s how you win an argument against a woman, you just walk out.
Even her mother thinks she’s a ball buster
Never liked the addition of Maggie. Marty and Rust both went through the jungle in this show, they had real reasons to complain and be salty. The theme of the show is basically miserable people experiencing misery in a miserable manner.
Then u get Maggie, who is miserable but the source of that misery is that she deals with a husband that has typical male urges.
It just doesn’t match at all, seems mismatched.
Matthew McConaughey and Michelle Monaghan
Lordy that’s some alliteration right there
i especially like how he does not take any of her vindictive and vicious comment at the end.
she knew it would hurt him
he did not tolerate that shit for one second and you can clearly see how she realizes she fucked up
These people are the worst kind of stoners!
1:17 how to tell someone to go fuck themselves with a stare and an exit
lol, this is so lifelike. Clearly Maggie really likes Rust, it was evident from the first time they met, that if Rust wasn’t careful, they’re were going to fuck. But Maggie, like all betrayed women, lashes out at Rust when she wants to say these things to Marty. The show is quite brilliant.
I’ll leave. I’m classing the place up.
Fuck yu man, now I have to watch the first season again, flat circle
Iove this scene. After all the nihilistic philosophy, all the clever atheistic rationalisations at the end of the day rust is just a man in pain and very very brittle. “You must have been a great husband”
Immediately leaves.
It is a deep need for most human beings to find a partner and built a truly lasting relationship. Maybe the underlying, evolutionary reason is to raise children but whatever that is true or not, people want lasting, monogamous love. That’s why I hate it when people start talking like Rust does. They try to project their weakness on others.
She owes him for that. And she gives it to him later.
1:08 Just for you guys to know. This is good example of what you should do when you have an argue with a woman and out of nowhere she start talking shiet you’re sensitive about, just know that that you just’ve won the fight, just stand up and go, and she’ll be pissed!! )
And to think. The guy who directed this episode went on to direct No Time To Die. Which may be the best Bond film yet.
As soon as he said “it’s not about you,” he hit her solipsistic kryptonite
Season 2 > Season 1.
i love how he slowly waddles out
Rust is “dead inside”. For real. And by the end he is resurrecting.
If she was a man, she would be in hospital after saying that. 1:14
lol, how do people think Rust was right? At the end of the day his posturing about how humanity was all a big mistake, even if he genuinely believes it, is glossing over the idea that people are making choices. Him saying “well, we’re malfunctioning animals, we can’t help it” is just a more intellectual dodging of responsibility as Marty saying “I just gotta blow off steam to go be a family man.”
they kept throwing him in the middle of their relationship and despite all this his Marty’s kids were still messed up because sense thins tension in the family
1:16
Me when some one tells me matthew macconaughey is not a good actor
Rust is a great character, but lets face it, he is a fucking douche bag
I really like Ray volcory a lot but rust and Marty have some moments that are really interesting
Love how many sexist people there are in the comments. You guys must be real fun to work with.
C U Next Tues!!!!
Every time he lights a cig he draws deep.
Notice how Rust just doesnt straight leave. He waits a moment to check her reaction to see if she is willing to take back what she just said. When she don’t, he finally walks. Great acting
The reflection shot is so cool.
“…you duck under rationalisation, same as any of ’em.”
Spoken as if being rational is a poor trait.
Alpha move
Fuck it. This is what I’m watching (again) this weekend. Nothing beats TD Season 1.
Rust walked out on her like a straight thug
And when that didn’t work…she fucked him.
How to talk to a woman period
She’s hurting, so she lashed out in the bitterness of her situation…. To be fair. Even if what he said was true… Expecting a heartbroken wife to just accept it with the same level of stoicism it took rust himself years to cultivate is unfair.
Frankly, while her actions were low, they were also very understandable…. I personally don’t blame her. And to her benefit, u can see that she at the very least had the presence of mind to regret that last jab at rust.
And while it probably stung… I don’t believe rust held it against her
0:19 LOL
Walk away when the drama gets deep – deny them their fuel at the same time.
(#000)
Yeah, just run away and cry in your car.
Rust is the type of character that justifies everything we do in general with pure logic and reason
he send the message and then try to be empathetic toward her but it fail there was no more reason to be there.
00:35 the truth, and nothing but the truth.
Who walks that fucking slow..
I miss Rust.
But he’s right, Maggie. He’s absolutely right.
What a dumb bitch. She was to weak to end the relationship on her own.
Rust understands why Marty was stepping out after this little chat with Maggie.
Fabulous script, heavyweight performers and I never heard of this.True Detective was a magazine many years ago, so these fragments caught my interest
This is my favourite scene. The delivery, facial expressions, body language, tone, etc are sublime. The shot of Maggie through the glass at the end is perfection. She instantly realized that final comment was a mistake.
What shirt is Rust wearing
“So you duck under rationalization, same as any of them.” While Maggie ducks under being irrational, same as any of them.
btw sex and death are totally normal and nature…..strange to never hear people talking about it in public?
only the words
….kids are the only reason for this m w drama…..marty cheating will loose also the kids and thats a fact…..no excuse but to explain that marty is total in panic not loosing wife but kids. sry only facts but like moet people women or man cant talk rational about some things….rust did
she had a point. The incel army in the comment section is funny.
Omg that camera work. Showing her regret then the reflection in the window of him getting in his truck. Amazing.
i think maybe matthew macconaughey should whistle when he talks more
The moment a woman says something nasty and personal during an arguement – you won.
So many weird misogynistic comments loool
And then she gets back with Marty anyway
I aspire to be like Rust!
The woman starts insulting the man. The man thinks “fuck this” and gets in his truck and leaves.
When a woman throwz a fit NEVER react. Do exactly this. Sit and just be. Do not act out. Maintain composure.
Watch and Learn fellas
Miss you rust😢
I love how rust is clearly hurt by that comment but he never holds it against her. He understands the situation she’s in and knows that she doesn’t mean it.
Great acting both of them.
“If the love is not sarve leave the table
Where’s that other scene between these two
lmao do y’all even watch the show?
What makes this scene so interesting is you can tell that Rust doesn’t want to be there anymore than Maggie does.
rust and maggie should be married
I came here for the patriarchal comment section. I was not disappointed. SMH
Its sad, but hes right, its routine that kills relationships. its not about anyone specific, its just natural. at least from a mens perspective.
The type of husband you wish your own woulda been, Maggie.
Lol he’s spot on about relationships/marriage
Cannot handle a MGTOW
She so prefers him to Marty that is why he shouldn’t go in on Martys behalf he just makes Marty look look worse in comparison lol
The writing in this show is so sublime it’s painful. Incredible.
Is that Arthur Schoepenhuer?
Why are people hating on Maggie here? She literally was the victim…
Marty should have pulled a Rust and walked away the first time Maggie gave him attitude, which apparently is the main reason why Marty avoids her.
Maggie is a nurse. How much of a bitch on wheels does a nurse have to be to not land a doctor or another high-quality scientific man she meets at work as a husband? Obviously Maggie didn’t have the high marriage market value to marry anyone better than the crude and thoughtless Marty.
Maggie disliked the video
GOAT
Maggie’s really the reason why Rust and Marty never truly solved the case until 10 years later. Maggie used Rust to get to Marty which ended in Rust quitting and the case ending right there.
Bitch can’t deny her programming
She’s a classy classic case of betrayal of her husband, can’t be trusted
Rust is the best character ever
Rust is a red pill man
this is textbook example of what you do when a woman’s acting out. you don’t yell, you don’t act aggressive. you straight up leave because she’s lost her privileges with you
1:22 the slow realization of avoided slap to the face
and to think they would share 30 seconds of beautiful love making
below the belt shot. you know you about got slapped when the other party just walks out
I love the way Rust just fucks off at the end.
Rust been honest with her since day fucking 1 and she still has no idea how to handle it.
Love this scene. Just wondering why you have ‘Embedding disabled by request’? Any chance you could lift this restriction?
Like a boss!
Typical woman. Resorts to shaming tactics when she couldn’t admit he was right.
I liked how Rust told both Maggie and Marty that it is none of his business what is going on with their relationship, he told them both multiple times, i really have a great respect for this man.
