Attacks seem to do very small amounts of damage. Either that or regular enemies have a ton of health. Same end result. Spells often do an imperceptible amount of damage, and a “boss” fight with a creature several levels LOWER than the player takes 3 minutes. For such fast-paced action it just feels so slow. Time to kill (TTK) should be faster, imo. If that means enemies do more damage as well to balance out, then so be it.

Final Fantasy 16: Lightning Returns

Ok that’s great but why is the damage output SO LOW.

Soundtracks doesn’t seem to be a disappointment, not at all. Though the UI designs such as hp bars, damage numbers, and combo list look like coming from 2010s era.

It’s really funny how the UIs on the upper part of the screen is obviously designed by a different person(s) from the lower part, they look so entirely different in style. The upper UIs are so big and non-transparent, but the lower UIs are so small and transparent. QTEs are also a really bad idea in 2023.

It’s nice to finally see an IGN employee actually know how to play a game for a change 😅

a little turned off by how little damage you’re doing with each attack. the character is overleveled for this mobs but you’re still taking like 10 seconds to flashily hack at a single one.

damn they really need an option in game configuration to close the damage numbers pop-ups, the enemy models are detailed and great, animations are fantastic, I’m fine with the particle effects too but the damage numbers just make the game visually looks too messy.

Exhausting and boring. The enemies are sponges and the fight is only a graphic carnival. The music tough, is pure Soken greatness.

that atlas battle fight is probably the best battle showcase i’ve seen so far

My favorite part about this is that none of it feels cheap. You are more than equipped to deal with these enemies, and the only thing that will hold you back is your own mastery of the tools your are given.

So…The enemies don’t do anything really relevant to the fight and most of them aren’t even a threat, they’re just sponge bags, an excuse for you to use your moves cause the combos are “cool” to watch.
Looks like that even the boss doesn’t cause any problems, he just has a few different attacks and a bigger health bar and just manage to kill you cause he’s 10 levels above the player…
