Big problem with recent RPGs is that they incorporate too many MMORPG elements such as extra unnecessary quests… just finished Xenoblade Chronicles 3 and they stuff in way too many extras that don’t incorporate with your characters in any meaningful way with ridiculous fetch quests and follow quests that take forever with no benefit. A good portion of the team design for this game (FF16) have lots of MMORPG experience which might be extremely detrimental to making a good single-player game. Also since lot of people would be buying PS5 specifically for this game there’s an extra layer of “am I going to pay four or five hundred dollars for a nice story-driven game ruined by MMORPG fetch quests or ‘please go kill seventeen of this monster to progress the story’ ‘oh please i need you to go collect fifty vials of llama milk'”… worst crap ever, is why FF14 was immediately terrible to start out that way. RPGs didn’t use to have absolutely horrible tedious design like this but all these big teams seem to want to push it that way and i don’t know why since it leads to a worse game. Also the ‘mature’ rating can go either way, if it’s too sleazy/profane/trashy then it’ll be a real shame to how much SQENIX has butchered this series ever since the SNES days. What gives me hope is the writer who worked on FFT and FF12 since those stories had more sophistication and depth. Anyway best wishes and good luck to the team

It’s very boring to fight a clive who runs very slow, he’s trotting when the action should be hectic. Evasion and distance are not used to balance attack and escape. There is no continuous freedom of movement on the ground and in the air. They need to fix that urgently. It should not only be an attack, but a feeling of mastery and freedom of space

Make a nude skin for clive rosfield for ps5, its too important for generate powerfull and deep conection with the avatar, just Like marvel spidernan, near autómata, ghost of tsushima, assassins valhalla, red dead 2, etc.

I hope that someday, Square makes another turn-based JRPG with this level of resources put into it. Octopath is lovely but I’d love for another main entry in the Final Fantasy series, with cutting-edge graphics, to be turn-based.

Our best hope might be for a remake of Final Fantasy X, which plays like the original but is expanded and given the love and care that the FF7 Remake is being given. That’d be great. That game in 4K HDR? My goodness.

I haven’t been this excited for a game since Kingdom Hearts 2. Very happy that Yoshi-P, Soken, and the rest of CBU3 have been given the reigns for a single player mainline FF game. I got into 14 during the pandemic and I can definitely say it has one of the best stories and cast in a FF game, and everything they’ve shown of 16 so far makes me think this is going to be an incredible experience.

Looks and sound great.
The rest is bleh.
Same old tired hack and slash garbage. Didn’t see much of the cast but MC looks uninteresting. Shrug.

I can’t even tell these games apart anymore. The combat is identical in all of them.
Just want a normal JRPG. Anything pre-FF11. No catering to western “modern audiences” and Chinese pocketbooks.
No “ethics department” interference.

Just a RPG with a good story and classic battle system.
If I wanted to have a seizure inducing battle systems I’d just play action game or anything else with button mushing.

Disappointed. Especially after FFXV and FFVIIR being absolutely horrible.

Man i’d love to play a new Final Fantasy game so much and this looks incredible. I know i’m living in the past but I really wish you’d role back to the turn based menu combat of FFX. It’s the biggest turn off for the new games, I want a slow pace and the best book i’ve ever played, not Devil may cry.

I’m really fighted at this point, waiting for being released on steam/PC or buying the ps5 just to play it on exclusive. The game looks wonderful and at that point I don’t want to see anything else of the game, I want to discover the game at release, don’t give me more info. But I know square will release more dev videos and more trailers in the near future.

I’m so happy to see FF thrive.
With XV’s development things were very rocky. No games were coming out and although I loved XV, people didn’t seem to share that opinion.
But now we got SoP, FF VIIR, FF VII CCR, FF VIIR2 and lasty *the amazing FF XVI* in total all being developed and released much quicker than before and all the games look magnificent.
