I love when developers actually utilize a controllers special features! Like how Resident evil used the controllers light bar to tell you how hurt you were, or Shadow of Morder used the hand speaker for the elf arrows.

Last Final Fantasy I truly enjoyed was FFX. Just played the Demo of XVI and … wow. Really impressed. Especially the adult tone of it. Most mature/adult Final Fantasy for sure. Also finally a main character who is not annoying.

Looks incredible. Definitely going to get into this one! I gotta say, this Trailer was supposed to showcase why it’s a PS5 exclusive but where is it? The controller features and 3D Audio, literally everything they stated, is something you can do on other platforms. I thought there was going to be some clear distinction why is was made for PS5 but I saw none. Doesn’t change that the game is going to great but felt a little weird and forced to include that.

Definitely an overhyped game. Demo is endless cutscenes and walking with about 2 mins of easy basic button mashing gameplay and people act like it’s game of the year.
For a JRPG I think Tales of Arise had better gameplay in it’s demo.

Absolutely gorgeous ❤ I was hesitant to download the demo then I played it and never regreted it… Pre ordered
The DualSense features felt incredible as usual, but the demo still had two flaws with regards to this trailer.
The 3D audio turns the game into a muffled mess. If you compare the two with headphones plugged into a supported amp/dac, the 3D audio turns the sound into a muddied mess, the mix is awful. This ultimately isn’t that out of the ordinary, the only PS5 games with decent 3D audio to date is pretty much just Returnal, Rift Apart and Demon’s Souls, but it’s still disappointing.
The other issue is performance mode. Quality mode is fine, it’s a locked 30 with occasional dips during the Eikon fights. 1440p is kind of lackluster as a base resolution, but the upscaling seems to work well enough to get it close to looking 4k. The real issue is Performance mode, which both looks very soft with a base 1080p res upscaling to 1440p, and also seems to hover between 40-48 fps, rarely hitting a consistent 60.
I really hope there’s a day one patch or something to fix the performance mode, and add an option to remove motion blur. 3D audio is likely a lost cause, but I think performance mode still has a chance.

are there any actual summon spells in this game? So far I’ve seen the MC use the power of the eikons or whatever they are called, as slashing weapons. But I want to be able to call shiva down and see and incredible animation.

I was very immersed when the framerate was dropping in that last fight. Felt like I was watching it at a cinematic 24fps. Truly immersive.
I’m glad we’re finally at a point in this generation cycle where games can be made for current hardware without having to think about the base model PS4 and Xbox. It’s pretty obvious from the demo that this game wouldn’t have worked on the inner hardware.

Its a shame that this franchise becomed a trendy action game for modern adaptation with some fancy animation, personally i playing videogames from many years and this one its nothing special…an Final Fantasy was supposed to have multiple playable characters, with the hype to see “who will become your party member” but this game its just an lazy game with one playable character for easy win with all AI controlled characters, a big company like Square-Enix ended to be an cash grab…
Granblue Fantasy Relink, Pennyblood, Armed Fantasia and Star Ocean the Divine Forse deserve more attention for their effort to release a classic with modern touch RPG.

The frame rate was garbage in the demo. Also better have multiple difficutlies, the demo was toooo easy, the perfect dodge windows are too large, and those QTE… the worst. You better address these.

The one thing that annoyed me was the tremendous amount of cutscenes there were, like it was truly game breaking.

Not counting FF7 Remake, I haven’t been this hyped for an FF game since 10. The demo sold me, so it’s looking like a day one buy for me.
People were worried that the haptics in the controller were gonna be a rarely used gimmick but I’m glad Sony proved them wrong. It truly does enhance immersion and I’m really glad so many games have implemented it.

If I constantly have to stand in front of a barrier or door and hold R2 for 2-3 seconds to go through, it is not lightning fast loading. You just cheaply tried to hide loading areas.

Demo made me believe again. Played it twice now turning all assists off.. This is GOTY material. Every song has been an absolutely perfectly timed master piece. The combat is tight and fast, skillbased, and very enjoyable. The fight at the end of the demo challenge mode may have been the coolest boss i have ever played. The graphics, the music, Emotional cinematics, amazingly well correographed boss attack patterns, the setting, voice acting, EVERYTHING was incredible. If the game keeps up with that demo, this is a 9 or a 10 game. Unbelievable piece of 3D art

But I HATE how they shoe-horned in adaptive triggers to opening certain doors.
It would be a cool feature if they programmed it properly. You have to wait for Clive to finish his animation of placing his hands on the door. But the prompt to press R2 is already on screen. So I end up pressing it and then having to press it again and now I’ve spent 5 seconds just trying to open a door.
I’d hope that they fixed this in the full game. At least the Chocobo riding has adaptive triggers.

Every PS5 game has this stuff. When everything has something, it stops being a feature and becomes a standard. It also stops being special. On top of that, none of these things make the game better.
The PC port in 2024 is the real Next Gen version.
My PS5 sounds like an airplane engine when playing the Final Fantasy XVI demo.

Demo was so sick if I had one minor gripes is the Performance mode kinda switched from 60 to 30fps between gameplay and cutscenes and the audio was kinda muted even at full volume but overall yeah I’m gonna need this week to be over with

I usually don’t really care too much about how some games use the dualsense, but after playing this demo… This team really knows how to make it part of the visual and audible experience 🔥🔥🔥
This game is a cinematic simulator. I literally went into every battle just pressing square and R1 and was able to beat it. It’s ridiculous how low of an emphasis they put into combat. The effect and attacks are great sure but when it comes to having fun while challenging, the player is abysmal at best

Game looks absolutely phenomenal and GOTY material, but still not worth getting a PS5 for.
This game is a title that should be played with HDR enabled. I felt that the adjustments were clearly closer to HDR monitors than other games.

Why are so many people are hyped? Game can’t even keep 60fps on performance mode.And motion blur makes it so much worse. No wonder why so many games release half baked because barely anyone complains about it.

The demo was incredible, my only minor nitpicks that I hope are changed in the final version are the ability to tone down the motion blur, as custom control mapping. All 3 base settings are just a tiny bit off from what I would prefer.
