I’ve never owned a PlayStation in my life and today i decided to buy the FF16 edition PS5.

The game is basically holding the forward button, spamming square button and spending most of the time listening to endless dialogues. I am so disappointed in Sony that they even offered to sell a Final Fantasy edition of their console.

This game looks cool visually but that’s about it. The game itself is a movie with literally a no skill linear gameplay full of talking.

seriously.. multiple directed cut scenes for benign things like buying items and quests. This is a mid quality movie…RWBY has better direction. Story has some hooks in it. But the inbetweens feel so slow obnoxious and painful. And game play looks easy outside of bosses who just seem rather spongey over challanging.

But there was very little context or development to here backstory with her and cid, other than what is in the active time lore. was hoping there gonna be more flash backs with her and cid. hopefully they flesh it out a little later.

Well…yes. Why are you acting like this is some grave revelation? You work as a guard in a medieval society. Being able to wield a weapon is the most basic requirement.

EDIT: I don’t understand how people that can use magic naturally have been made into slaves. Like, anyone that has to use a crystal, which is a consumable resource? They’re cool.

But they can use it naturally? Nah they’re a slave. How do you even enforce that? They can use magic spontaneously. How could you even hope to keep a population like that suppressed?

EDIT 2: Benedicta’s special form looks very reminiscent of SHODAN.

In reality based on the Elements and how they interact, benedikta should be weak against Clive because Wind and Air fuel Fire. She’s like a walking air bubble. If he lit her on fire she should burst into flames. As much as Air is Weak to Fire, Fire is To Earth and Earth is to Water etc etc like people usually think of Fire as being weak to Water but I disagree as that being the best way to put out a fire. When putting out a fire In the wilderness Throwing dirt on a fire is a much more effective way of putting it out than water is.

it’s an ok game but a bad final fantasy one. nothing about it really makes me feel like it’s from the franchise. black, grey and boring. three hours in and you’re locked in to using the same character.

Okay, so let me get this straight.
Dominant is some kinds of summoner that if they’ve been through some shot then they can turn into their Eikon, basically a mythical being that they’re supposed to summon. They summon the Eikon by transforming into it. Our friends Clive here is an exception because not only he IS a dominant (That is to say that he can summon turn into an Eikon) but also because his Eikon is also the 2nd of its element (fire) where supposedly (as far as we know) there should’ve been only one Eikon of an element at a time and his element (fire) have 2 Eikon an the same time (well not now cuz’ his brother is dead). Also he can take away people’s dominant power but that wouldn’t be a problem, as the case with benedikta as we can clearly see that she can still summon Garuda. So my hypothesis is that a dominant is not a genetic type of thing, but rather a kind of curse that can be planted on anyone with a ritual or some kind of other way other than blessed genetics. I say that because his supposed friend Jill (the girl in the beginning) is a dominant of Ice (presumably) named Siva even though it’s never been mention (yet) that she’s in any way a “blessed child” like joshua. And there’s more of the 2 or even 3 Eikon of the same element at the same time. That is because if my hypothesis is true, there’s two type of Eikon, mythical creature Eikon and Demonic Eikon. So far we’ve seen some of the example, that being a mythical type (Phoenix) and actually 2 demonic type (Clive’s Ifrit and that other guy in the last scene’s Eikon called behemoth). Mythical creature Eikon is the one that comes from dominant with pure genetics (like joshua) that’s why his Eikon is Phoenix. Clive’s Eikon in the other hand is a Demonic Eikon named Ifrit (which is the name of a demon/Demonic creature btw). His Eikon comes to be because he got rejected or some stuff that’ll be explain later in the story probably. But hey, that’s just my theory based on the fact we’ve known so far here. Do let me know if you have any other theory

This is typically the kind of game I’d rather enjoy watching someone else play than play myself. There’s not much gameplay choice in itself, it’s more like of a very long movie. Maybe too long, to be honest…some plots seem weirdly accelerated (I thought we’d spend more time with the MC living as empire soldier and build relationship with his team at the beginning) and others too slow. Animation is very good, details put in cinematics is impressive, but sometimes I feel like the gameplay gets more in the way than anything else and it’s just “let’s keep the player engaged until the next cinematic”.

I have to say it, the combat is so garbage it’s unwatchable, the environments, world building, characters, story, etc, are all great. But the combat is phoneware levels of catastrophically bad, thought maybe they had learned from 15. At least they realize it’s a piece of gaming cinema rather than an actual video game, and are weening their audience off of the concepts instead of removing them entirely this time around, but it’s not like that’s worth any praise. Well done otherwise despite the intolerable product, should invest in a new catalyst for the medium, define it’s own rather than appeasing nobody apart from moviegoers.

Never understood why the protag always needs to have the sword on the back. It’s super dumb looking and they didn’t even bother to try and make it not float on the back.

This will be interesting to see user review wise, I think it will be pretty badly received by most gamers, the only thing is that now that people could be more informed, also as this game really showed a lot, I think many that don’t like the direction the game go will not buy it, such as myself, I really dislike the direction they go so I will skip this title, I will play rebirth though. From what I can tell this game has so little hype from those who enjoyed the FFs from PS1 days. Those who like the recent sony first party titles seem to be very excited about this.

Im so confused about this game. Clive is the most boring person in it. He has zero peronality and he looks too perfect, not human, and talk like a robot. Every other character is more interesting than him. I wanna see some character improvement at least at the end of the game.

I’m expecting at least a high 80 or low 90 score overall from Metacritic. IGN already gave it a 9/10. This game looks beyond beautiful. From the crazy combat to the story and voice acting.
