Yo Tonberries?! Goddammit they put effort in to this DLC, might need to pick this piece of shit up again.
Hydrogen baby vs coughing bomb
fun fact, the song that plays in the DPS check that gave you and everyone trouble is a orchestrated version of Through the Maelstrom, Leviathan’s Boss theme in Final Fantasy 14
Will you play another FF game?
Nice, cannot watch this since i still have to play this my self. I have heard it is MUCH harder. So i will look forward to the struggle you have :D.
Leviathan is far and away my favorite summon in all of Final Fantasy, and this expansion absolutely did them justice. The fight itself was fun as hell, though that DPS check on Final Fantasy difficulty (the New Game Plus extra hard mode) kicked my ass so many times before I finally beat it. The devs definitely heard all the people complaining about the base game being too easy.
But my favorite bit about the fight isn’t the fight itself, but the music. The music that plays right when the DPS check begins is straight up an orchestral rendition of “Through the Maelstrom,” Leviathan’s boss theme in FFXIV, which Soken also did the music for. But then, after that, the third phase heralds the return of a song not heard since the very first reveal trailer for FFXVI all the way back in 2021. Fans had been clamoring for that piece to show up in the game for years, and to hear it in its full glory during this fight was nothing short of spectacular.
Also, one more fun fact: Leviathan is probably the biggest Eikon in this game, besides Titan. Ifrit was only as big as his head.
About your comment on the Odin fight. THe reason the fight is downscaled is that apparently (not 100% sure) the team almost blew their budget with the Baahamut fight fight. So rumors speculate that Odin was going to be grander and but they did not have the budget to make it so grand so they had to scale it down.
we’re “Through the Maelstrom” with this one 😎
(that is a Final Fantasy 14 reference for those who don’t know. The name of the patch that added Leviathan and also the namesake of his theme in that game which was also reprised in his theme here)
Who would have guessed a little baby who is the Dominant of Leviathan is really powerful 🌊.
4:36:25 yeah I agree with you. – the people who bother to complain ‘game is too easy’ are pretty hardcore.
And people are more likely to voice complaints than praise so it was a very vocal group saying ‘game is too easy’
It was only yesterday I did echoes of the fallen, but I really wanted to do this. This was equally as good, if not better, was it harder? mmm yeah I wasn’t expecting to faint to an eikon fight twice to be fair. The timekeeper right before leviathan was absolutely horrible though, I don’t think I’ve ever been more amazed and annoyed at the same time in this game but here we are. As for leviathans fight, the first bit before he teleports you far out to sea was a real pain and immediately drained me of the healing items (firelight), and after that with the horrible ring attacks you have to jump it was just wild and all that stuff. But what this dlc helpfully told me was that the eikons being godlike is nothing but true, which just makes me wonder what ultima could of done more of.. he was definitely way stronger than the end fight made him out to be, leviathan alone altered the weather and created a tsunami and storm that would render the whole of valisthea destroyed if it had the aether and strength to go that far.
Definitely go visit the arete stone in the hidaway, there is such a cool suprise
4:42:20 About the comment why Rising Tides was DLC and not main, we don’t really know the real reason only speculations. The developers said first that there were no DLCs planned for FF16 unless people wanted more of FF16 and its lore then they would consider it.
What I believe and this is pure speculations from rumors that others has shared that Echoes of the fallen was maybe cut out from the main game to have something behind to sell it as DLC. The Rising Tides DLC is because water in video-games is the hardest thing to animate for developers as it often gets to look really bad or heavy on the performance load. that’s why you barely seeing games that is using water as fighting element as its really hard to make right.
The rumors are that they did wanted to have leviathan in there but maybe didn’t made it on time for the deadline to be perfect and then decided to sell it later as a second DLC.
This is pure speculation on my end as the developers didn’t really mentioned this, developing water is really hard to make in games especially if its lots of going around in the scene but also in CGI it takes time and money, so my guess is that they didn’t made it on time or had the budget to finish that part in the main game is what i think.
4:35:55 It was indeed from players complaint that the main game battles were a bit to easy that’s why the devs upped the difficulty with these DLCs. The DPS check (Damage per Second) Shield fight was indeed very tight to beat. My bad luck was that I finished the main game before the DLCs came out i already started new game plus on Final Fantasy Mode which is basically the hard mode of the game and then Rising Tides released and I struggled as well i think It took me 2 hours to finally understood what you had to do to crack it on time it was testing my waters for sure (pun intended), as its basically testing your skills what you have learned from the past fights. I have a play through on my channel but jeez yeah I do agree it was a very rough fight but overall I did enjoyed Rising Tides DLC.
The Omega fight especially for me was great because of the final song that was played as it was an Easter egg from FF14 OST theme song called: A Long fall or also known as The twinning or eScape theme song from the FF14 omega fight, which became a Meme in the FF14 community so that was a nice touch for the FF14 fans. Story was indeed not as great as Rising Tides.
Keep up the great content love seeing your playthrough, thoughts and reactions.
That part of the game is called a DPS Check. It’s making sure you know how to maximize your damage output. Unfortunately Ifrit is very limited on what he can do overall so it’s pretty hard
Omg we are finally here I can’t wait to watch this later
Yeah leviathans timed sequence was the worst part of the whole game IMO.
Also next time, you might wanna pay a visit to the arete stone in the hideaway once you wrap up the dlc. Its worth it trust me
