The premise and icon battles look so enticing, but the FF14 team just couldn’t help themselves, huh? Too used to making an MMO that wastes countless hours of people’s time, they forgot that single player games weren’t supposed to do that lol.
The highest highs definitely won’t be worth its lowest lows for me, especially hearing that the story ultimately disappoints.

Fantastic retrospective! It really hits a lot of good points. It’s a shame the game could not stick…well much of all. There are caveats in nearly all aspects, but I like how you still appreciate the good that it does do.
I had a solid time in the first half but the story lost me when It become about fighting god
