The meaning of the lines is completely different from the Japanese version, and the English version exists as a separate work.
For example, Benedict’s lines after Sid’s appearance at the beginning were quite different.
In the Japanese version, Benedict’s lines are, “Fugo is the ‘wall’ of Dalmekia,” and “I’m disappointed because I think the Titans don’t have the power to destroy the Iron Kingdom.”
These differences are interesting.

I wrote it under alot of videos by now, but this game is fucking GOATED through cutscenes alone and LETS ESPECIALLY not forget about dmc gameplay, that yeah it “dumbs down” one ore maximum two things, but FF16 just got it right. By the end they have a 2 (for each skill slot) * 3(for each Eikon) * 6(for each actual Eikon). You could easily get a Will’ O Wisp and Flames of Phoenix through the endgame if you combine it with more DPS focused skill like that press-and-release Titan fist, or when you have to dodge to fill the gauge faster and more. It was so satisfing.

The “open zone” parts of this game is giving me major heavy FFXV vibes and I love it.. Especially that gap closer skill, it’s like a distance-nerfed warp strike lol

Bearers are born with the ability to use magic, and their fuel for magic is aether, but inevitably they will eventually run out of aether, and once they run out of aether they turn to stone

So thats why clive died, he rid the world of magic, but used up all the aether he had so he turned to stone

Also thats why cids hand sorta petrified, because he used alot of aether in his adventure with goetz

I think that getting only 5 -20 gil and just upgrade mats on the marshes and side quests is pretty proper since they are currently at war and also in a realistic scenario a person won’t find a thousand dollars lying on the ground in a forest.

Damn, the english version is so much better than the german translation, I just can’t take it anymore. In the english verision Cid tells Clive to “find out if the man’s responsible, and kill yourself if he’s not” which is just hilarious given the situation. In the german version tho Cid basically says (rughly translated back to english): “Find out if the man is respnsible, if not you can still die” it may means the same but it’s absolutely not funny, not even close to and I’m a 100% sure this was supposed to be a “funny”.

The combat gameplay is great… especially the further you are in the game and more you unlock…but the graphics, awesome cutscenes and epic set piece scriptured points in the stage level battles are unlike anything I’ve played. I’m just bummed out almost over. I’m in the last 5th or 6th of the story now.

I’ve started to play it but the gameplay doesn’t seem like a great deal to me after a while, I like more to enjoy the story with asmon’s narration perspective in the background, it’s funny, it’s more entertaining than playing it myself, in this case

FYI, your base combo can do a lot more than that 4 hit string. You have a thing called Magic Burst that you can do after EVERY hit, not just at the end of the combo. You wanna alternate those attack buttons — Sword, magic, sword magic, etc.

If you get a full combo of that off, they take a big chunk of damage and smaller enemies go flying. You can even follow that up with a Torgal sic and if you time it right it counts as a Precision Sic and does extra damage.

The timing’s a little tricky to get at first, but if you go do training mode from the Arete stone, you can go into the settings in the training mode and turn “burst timing” on to get a little on-screen indicator that shows you how to do it.

Music is A tier but a little low volume at times compared to gameplay at times

Story starts off AMAZING then tapers off…THEN ITS BETTER THAN AMAZING but takes a while to hit you, hence the rating for inconsistency

Gameplay is A tier, understand that this game is exactly what was advertised and if you like that you like this. If you want turn based this or “MEGA RPG SKILL TREE BUILDING” you won’t like it.

Think of this game as less an RPG and more a linear story driven game tied together by strings of seamless combat and beautiful movie like story weaving

More and more people that was supposed to be dead shows up throughout the story, good story, but still, wouldn’t be surprised they get a dlc where the guy we watched burn to ashes is the final boss

I’m a big fan of the series since I was a child. That’s why square Enix was my favorite publisher for a long time. But the last couple of years the published a lot of crap. And that’s not even including forspoken. I bought final fantasy the first day it came out. And it’s the best final fantasy ever! It’s better than god of war or any game I’ve played for a long long time. Yes, in fact it’s only comparable with the Witcher III. It’s 100% a must play for anyone with a PlayStation 5. Game of the year without any doubts in my mind.

No Final Fantasy has even been GOTY and the FFXVI will be no different. It will be either the Harry Potter game or Zelda probaly Zelda.

To the people who have Zelda over this game for GOTY, y’all tripping balls. Consume and enjoy this game in its entirety. Never take a moment for granted when progressing through the story. The production, combat, ui, performance, and depth. The game is lacking in none of those departments. The combat is so immersive, I went from button mashing the same two buttons over and over again, to adding more buttons/button combination to my arsenals. The best part is, as you familiarize yourself more with the combat, the more you go like, “fuck I shouldn’t be taken damage here” or “I messed up”. Ideally, I want to get to the level where I take no damage from boss fights, but rn I refuse to win a fight if I pop a potion. The ifrit fight, people who played the game will know what I’m talking about, is such an amazing experience in its entirety.

It’s pretty blurry to me, and Elden ring looks better and I can go from the beginning of Elden ring to the end without a single load screen. Ff16 has like two dozen “crawl between these two rocks so we can hide our loading screens” in the first 2 hours of the game, it’s a little silly honestly.

And so far there’s basically zero exploration, granted I’m only like 5 hours in.

They focus on every aspect like music, gameplay, story, quests, the grind and the fact that each game is based upon a whole establish universe. My first game at 7y.old. was Final Fantasy 10 and I invite you newcomers to search for the Opening Scene, like what the fck? This people are on a whole another universe in gaming.

Game of the year goes to Zelda, as much of a ff fan as I am. It impresses me more on a mechanical level. FF is more about the presentation and story which as a gamer I don’t value as much. Wish I could watch this full stream and not ruin my eventual play thru tho.

I’m liking the game but really don’t think game of the year is even in the conversation (yet). Not sure if the game will earn such a title. I’m at Geruda. It’s nice to play an easy game for a change.
Story is generic but I love the characters, even if some of it comes from nostalgia for Cid.

The combat feels like a Muso game at times. The boss fights are a nice treat though.
THe normal fighting is a little too easy.

I’ll say it’s so fun to be able to not really pay attention and get to the next cutscene. Definitely a game you can eat snacks while playing without issue.

SO thankful they removed every and all “anime-isms” from the character’s dialogue. No weird gasping, no awkward pauses or grunts. Just well-written, well-directed and well-delivered dialogue.

There’s absolutely no universe where this game takes the title over tears of the kingdom.

This is a great game, a great final fantasy game, a great action game, with a great story, but it unfortunately just came out in the same year where tears of the kingdom surpassed literally all of the already-high expectations and completely invalidated breath of the wild–a previous game of the year winner–as a video game itself. It made breath of the wild look like a tech demo.

I’m excited to play FF16 when it releases for PC, it’s looking like it’ll be the most fun I’ve had in final fantasy since FF6 and 7. But it’s not game of the year 2023.

I am not a final fantasy fan but This game deserves game of the year. The boss battles, music and fights is insane along with story. It literally made new industry standards for gaming in my opinion.

So do I have to play the first 15 games to understand what’s going in?
