Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth vs. Final Fantasy 16 – Which Game Has The Better Combat?
There aren’t a lot of games out there that can claim to be as consistently spectacular in the combat department as Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth and Final Fantasy 16, an achievement that becomes even more impressive when you consider just how radically different each of them is on this front.
Both games deliver stellar combat, even if they go about it in entirely different ways- and given just how good they both are, comparisons are going to be inevitable as well. So, between these two action RPGs, which game delivers the better combat? Here, that’s exactly the question that we’re looking to tackle.

Overall I love ff16 more including combat. FF7 rebirth mini games were annoying…
16
Is the final fantasy game series worth it? I’m a new fan both these games look awesome but are they actually good in gameplay and compelling story?
I actually didn’t like FFVIIR’s combat. FFXVI is more like Devil May Cry and is honestly doesn’t belong in this comparison. If anything, we should be comparing it to XIII since that is basically an evolution of FFVII’s combat system (if you pretend autobattle doesnt exist). I would have prefered if Remake improved upon XIII’s gameplay except none of the characters are AI controlled
One is turn based. Other is character action. Next lets compare Call of Duty with Elden Ring. How stupid.
Both are good on there own
FF7 Rebirth is a JRPG with a mix of action and turn based strategie and FF16 is a hack and slash.
If you want a game with focus on strategie play FF7 Rebirth, if you want a game with focus on combos play FF16.
Ff7 is more strategic ff16 is easy to learn hard to master you can get sort of close to dmc level of complexity what holds it back is the only 2 skills per icon needed atleast 3 and less cooldowns but then you need to increase basic enemies aggressiveness
Well, 4 months later but, imo if ff16 had any difficulty at all in the combat could perhaps compete but since there is not, after the point where all the animations stop amazing us the combat its just boring, its also almost impossible to die unless you really put some limitations by yourself or go fight enemies way above your level.. and dont get me wrong i loved ff16,have like 250h on it but unfortunately theres something missing in that game, in terms lf combat rebirth way superior for me
I find it hard to believe that people in this comment section even played the original FFVII, remake, and rebirth. So for those that only played rebirth are completely lost in the story. FFVII is contended for original players, while 16 is meant for people who are wanting to experience a new gameplay mechanic and story while also being meant for new players to the franchise.
I really enjoyed 16. But Rebirth of cos. Final Fantasy should be like Final Fantasy.
Rebirth is a better game in every way but one.
16 is pretty.
Square will be encouraged to keep making games that aren’t even RPGs and calling them main line Final Fantasy games because people are fooled into buying pretty games instead of good ones that are actually RPGs.
If you want a cool action game like Devil May Cry then buy 16.
It just irritates me that square has the nerve to make them mainline FF games. Keep the mainline games RPGs and make the action games still but don’t act like they are mainline games.
Eh i like both🤷♂️
Eh question like this is useless😅
I had a lot of fun with both and if I wanted to I could pick both apart. I like the flash and real time action of FF16 as well as how little time I spend in menus. FF7 Rebirth is great with the different party members and materia customization that makes for a lot of variety and depth. I love both and I will be in FF7 Rebirth for awhile as well as playing the FF16’s DLC.
Ok first i beat these two games, FF16 is combo heavy combat type of game and custom moveset its dmc and bayonetta. FF7 rebirth is more diverse builds. ff16 dmc style vs ffvii kh style game.
Rebirth has great combat. But everything you do when there is no combat is the slowest and most tedious slug i ever played. Climbing, sneaking, or pushing wagons from point A to point B makes me go crazy (just to name a few)
They are both amazing but Final Fantasy 16 style of combat is my thing
I played both casually, and after all the recency bias, I would have to vote ff16. 7 rebirth felt stressful during the fight, it felt like tug of war. Ff16 on other hand like slicing through a butter.
Of course 16 is better. 7 you need to go into menus and pause literally the combat just to find the magic you want like wtf is that 🤣💀 It’s like driving a car and you need to pause in every corner just to go into a menu to change to the gear you want, Fu stupid and would you want that? I don’t think so…..A fast flowing system is always the better system, that’s why almost all the game developers running with just that.
If 16 let us play as Jill or Torgal I think the combat would have been less monotonous
Rebirth is better and it’s not even close for me. Honestly I hope square is taking notes and that they’re next main line FF installment borrows heavily from the design of rebirth. Maybe my expectations were just too low after feeling pretty mid about remake, but rebirth so far has blown me out of the water. I’m about 40 hours in and I feel like I’ve barely even scratched the surface.
Neither is good but 7 remake is better.
For me FF 16 all the way
I love both but based on end game stuff like Omega in FF16 and VR missions in FF7Rebirth, noting the battle design alongside character combat, 100% I love FF16 a bit more.
Rebirth is a better game in LITERALLY evsry single aspect. Its not even remotely close. 16 is a genuinely bad game in comparison
FF16 is the most rubbish game in history. If it wasn’t called FF, it would be even rubbish.
FF7 rebirth deliberately did not turn on the performance. His movements are slower than those in FF16, which is very cunning.
i like much more the ff 16 combat
Rebirth doesn’t have a deep combat system. Bloated is the word you’re looking for.
Obviously, 7 Rebirth. FF16 is trash.
16 is more enjoyable. Rebirth is more reliant on stats rather than skill.
I wanted to like FF16 and the cinematic fights are jaw dropping, but the combat is just so so easy it quickly gets boring. There’s no tension in fights because your team just steamrolls everything.
ff16 ofc IF, they added party system, elemental weaknesses, remove time stop on ULTS making boss fights a bit harder. ff7 R/R is just trying hard to get action game fans to get in and like their game.
16 feels like they put together a ton of prototype systems they were gonna make better later down in development
I would talk to Charley for hours instead of “””explore””” the empty open maps of 16
FFXVI: has cooldowns
FFVIIRebirth: doesn’t have cooldowns
FFVIIRebirth annihilates
7 poops on 16
FF XV combat felt very ”floaty” the attacks didn’t give the right stimuli feedback from the button press, it was like the button was initiating a mini cinematic and not actual recoil. XVI combat is great but the problem with it is that it feels like a Hack and Slash which isn’t bad, but a skilled hack and slash player can overcome any obstacle which in turn would break the ROG leveling up aspect, so the combat feels very grindy and Un rewarding, wash rinse repeat. FFVII remake didn’t get the combat quite right, the stagger bar made it feel grindy too. But rebirth succeeds immensely where the combat doesn’t feel like a slog and at the same time doesn’t feel hollow. The combat feels exactly like KIngdom Hearts
Better combat? Rebirth.
More memorable encounters? 16. The Eikon boss fights are masterworks of buildup.
Big W to 16
Rebirth is by far the best FF I have played in a long time. XVI was great but it eventually got dull to me and struggled to keep my interest. I also hated some of the button layouts. Switching between different attacks sort of irked me due to my ADHD. However I REALLY loved the Godzilla x Final Fantasy feel. It’s the only reason I was so hooked to begin with.
With Rebirth I found myself replaying Remake before launch just to get a bigger experience and it truly feels like I’m replaying a massive huge Final Fantasy game that I always dreamed about. I would love to see more FF with this same combat system coming out with these same kind of multiple parts whether through DLC expansions or new game in parts.
7R easilyyy takes the cake, 16’s combat was incredibly bland and braindead
16 requires practice, 7 Rebirth requires grinding. 16 >>>
The thing is that FF16 is 80% there, its missing difficulty, More variations in button inputs and Elemental weaknesses that makes you think when approaching enemies and a much deeper Torgal skill tree. The specticle of FF16 is extremely high and Ive never been so amazed.
I felt 16 was better overall
Final Fantasy 16 has better combat and a better story than FF7 rebirth
final fantasy 16 is better 👍
The new FF7 has the perfect mix of turn based and action gameplay, it should actually be the standard for FF going foward. FF16’s combat was some of the most automated feeling dull shit ive experienced. Sqaure really made FF16 all around very flashy, but when it came to the gameplay, world, NPCs, writing, etc. its very shallow and feels like the dev team was forced to shape the game that they wanted to make into a Final Fantasy mold.
FF16 is the very definition of “All style and no Substance”
FFVIIRebirth is the better RPG on all fronts. FFXVI while excellent cannot be called an RPG, its more action versus actual tactical RPG gameplay.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth’s soundtrack has been arranged with a live orchestra, just like its predecessor. On the other hand, Final Fantasy XVI’s soundtrack was arranged with a VST synthesized orchestra.
Both games have phanomenal combat for different reason and both are extremely fun.
However, I feel enemy/boss design in Rebirth sometimes are at war with the combat system which does feel extremely bad when it happens. That and a few bosses (like how Odin’s mechanic interacts with NPCs you aren’t controlling or the duo fight involving him and Alex) are just not well designed.
In contrast, never felt a single normal enemy, elite enemy, hunt, or boss was at war with FF16’s system. Everything flowed togther well and it was an all around better experience for me.
That and I think people tend to vastly overblow the “strategic element” of FF combat systems since outside of enemies/bosses with extremely restrictive gimmiks or superbosses (and even thebits not too much strategy and you can brite force it if determined), you don’t have to strategize much. Played the game primarily with Yuffie and played extremely similar to how I did in FF16, and that combined with how broken Doppelganger is, I’ve melted most enemies and boss (on Dynamic mode) with almost no change in strategy and little incentive to change up my build since it works so well.
You know, the same mindset people try to use to say 16 has no depth, because it is a very easy statement to make about both games, rendering its value as an arguement against one vs the other completely pointless.
Rebirth feels like you build up ATB to just spam the same attacks. I liked cooldown system of 16 because you end up using way more abilities and it makes the combat feel much more satisfying. Overall, 16 feels way more fun and thrilling.
They’re not that different really.
16 is like a kids version of DMC
rebirth is like a slightly more less boomer version of turn based/slow ass action.
FF 16 Combat is for fast pace hardcore games, without the assits, these FF7 rebirth fanboys don’t know what they are talking about get gud,
16 has the worst combat and I love dark souls
16 had no need for tactics
I can imagine new game plus makes u play it properly but it feels like it’s a mess I couldn’t do it
I’m going to vote for rebirth. I really like 16 but the lack of controllable party members and status effects hurts it dearly. Did really like those Eikon fights though.
Has “great combat mechanics”?!
Press/mash “one button” for combat until you beat said MOB.
Someone’s inhaling some huge amounts of copium. lol
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves plss!!! ahahahaha
I prefer the combat in 16 more than waiting for atb gauge i also like precision dodging rather than slow timed blocks. Being able to dominate with the eikons in combat is better rather than waiting for summons. Buuuuut ff7 is the better game tho
I like both, but FVII much more enjoyable overall to me. XVI has same problem XV did on launch with being locked into playing one character in what is, typically, a party-based franchise. Having 3-4 playable characters with variance in their playstyles like VII in XVI would have put it over the top for me. Unfortunately, it’s just Clive.
Im going to be 100% honest.
After playing Granblue Fantasy Relink (Relink) and 100% that game FF7 rebirth combat is horrible.
Relink doesn’t have Dumb AI companions like rebirth
Relink actually has a working blocking system, unlike the trash blocking in rebirth
Relink actually has Dodges that will actually dodge attacks, unlike rebirth being hit in the middle of a dodge.
Relink has an actual ****ing jump button to do air to air combat
Relinks Combo system Leagues better than rebirth
i like every other aspect of this game, but the combat is so bad in rebirth that it almost ruins this game
The only bad thing i have to say about FF16 combat is that you really dont have a team like in ff7, but i like FF16 combat better than ff7
FFXVI looks so good Visually , its combat is somewhat monotonous but wow I expected that level of graphic detail in Rebirth :/
Rebirth is 100% the best FF game yet
Rebirth’s combat feels like final fantasy. FF XVI was too much like DMC
I’m waiting for all 3, all dlc and a physical complete edition box of all of it to be released b4 I buy it so I can play it all as one game like it did with the orig years back.
Played the demo of remake though 🙂 it was great that it was the same as the original 7s demo 😀
Anyway what was I gonna say? Oh yeah, rebirths combat def sounds ALOT better than 16 😀 I played the demo of 16 and didn’t think much of it, even the game itself. Don’t even think I bothered finishing the demo.
FF16 was phenomenal to me absolutely loved the story and the combat
Rebirth’s combat is better by a mile. 16’s combat is just cycling through eikons. Feels like a mindless button masher game, which is a horrible look for any jrpg. Rebirth being able to change materia allows you to fully customize how each character can play. Then theres combat skills and custom equiping them to a hotbar on L1. Open world map is the obvious cherry on top. It’s going to get rpg GOTY for sure.
First time enjoying the combat and very satisfying boss fights. Wasn’t sure if it was just me but seems like this is the consensus
I wish FF7 looked as good as 16. Rebirth looks kinda trash a lot of times. 16 literally looks incredible every second.
Would’ve really loved if 16 supporting characters were playable. Switching between Joshua, Jill, Torgal, Cid, Dion and Clive (hell even Gav) would’ve worked so well for the story and you wouldn’t have to shelf like 4/5 of your abilities.
Both are dope but the other game has a lot missing
Final Fantasy XVI is easily my winner.
Ff7 rebirth is way more in depth in combat, but ff16 smokes it in graphics.
other RPG games are basically competing for the 3rd place now
Meanwhile no pc release date yet
7. Hands down. End of story. For starters, you have to hit more than 1 button 😅
I actually like playing with aeris. She’s really op
Holding a button to unleash flashy attacks that cover a lot or ground is “engaging”? 😂
7 hands down like it way better that the dmc combat of ff16 still a good game but ff7 combat is way better
I love both.
I loved 16 but this vote goes to FF7. Yeah DMC combat style is cool, but theres nothing like from moving from fire to Firaga and enjoying the power.
Different storyline.
Final Remake, Rebirth are more open world rpg.
While FF16 is more soul style game storyline.
Absolutely 7. It’s got a party, strategy and it’s fun. XVI gets old REAL fast.
16 doesn’t have a single thing better about it in comparison to other games in the series. A very mediocre experience smh
I love FF16, it was the reason I bought a PS5 and I have 140hrs on this game, but FF7 Rebirth has a far better combat system, hands down.
16 is trash
Is this even a debate ?
FFVII Remake/Rebirth have by far the BEST battle system ever made in any Final Fantasy. It is dynamic, spectacular, thrilling, deep, strategic, fun and impressive.
I hope they will stick to this formula for the next FF games way beyond FF7 Remake part 3.
FFXVI battle system was entertaining for a couple of hours, but it was sooooo redundant passing few hours ; it was to me a very generic beat’em all with a list of cool downs to activate on and on and on. No depth, . FFXVI had a lot of potential , I was really expecting it and got really frustrated. It was a game painful to finish. And I have no will to restart the game whatsoever. Like never ever.
At some point they should stop reinveting the wheel at every single entry and keep what is working well. FFVII Remake formula is really wonderfully crazy efficient ; they really are onto something , just stick to it.
Or they can act that there are 2 schools of battle systems, with 2 different branches of FF games ; but I will definetly stick with the FFVII remake branch, every single day.
Ff7 rebirth easily has the better combat
I think 16 has a more fun and solid combat system. It’s stylish and fun and looks great. 7 is fun but is slower and messy at times, however Rebirth is a big improvement
7 is better I’m almost every way tbh. Got to the end of 16 and just gave up. great characters tho especially cid he was frickn awesome
If you’re not complete garbage at pure action games then definitely 16. 7 Remake is incredibly easy and the combat felt very restrictive
I played the shit out of 16. I really enjoyed the game. The combat was superb. It was fast action packed. The cutscenes were a little much but hey I was still mesmerized on how beautiful the game looked. And specially after the epic boss battles I was ready for a cutscene 😂
Playing Rebirth. Have put 10 hours in and just got to Chapter 3 and what can I say… with how it’s going and how much fun I’m having. Rebirth could very well be my fav FF game of all time. It’s perfect. A complete masterpiece and I still have a long ways to go.
Can you save load outs or change materia mid battle? That was annoying in remake that you couldn’t
Rebirth would be perfect if it was faster and didn’t play like a turn based RPG and required you to pause all the time and XVI would be perfect if it had party based with combat with direct control without sacrificing the speed it currently has. But KH3 trumps both of them and has more interesting fights that don’t revolve around stagger and damage optimization.
How about we compare JRPGs by their JRPG elements and not the combat which while important isnt the most important. Either way FFVII rebirth wins no matter what. XVI was absolute garbage. And the eikon battles weren’t even good. They were glorified active time events. That’s trash
I think ff xvi combat would have been perfect if you can switch between party members.
I thought 7 remakes combat sucked, I liked 16s combat
7 is way better, but 16 isn’t a bad game.
FF7 Rebirth = Action Rpg.
FF16 = Fast pace action dmc style.
FF7 wins for more tactical aspect, characters switching, big open world (while ff16 is more linear with boring side quest). The only things that FFXVI is better than FF7 Rebirth are the majestic Eikon Battle (especially with Titan and Bahamuth) 🤔.
If you’re mentally handicap , FF16 is your game. If you have some gray materia inside your skull, FF VII could be your game
No other FF compares to FF16 it’s on a different level
Both are great but I like 16 combat more.
Honestly loved both! But damn timing the blocks in 16 felt like I was str8 up in DBZ and it felt so satisfying
You mfs aren’t tired of playing the same fucking game?
i beat 16
only thing that game has going is its story
one of best ff stories of all time
but about 22-32 hours in the game gets so boring
including the first dlc the game is about 59 hours
another thing about 16 is it feels like a solo game even though u have “party members”
all other ff felt like u had a party
16 was pretty trash. I couldnt even finish it. 7 is legit and I cant stop playing it.
nice video!!!
16s combat hands down is superior. Combos, smoothness, scale, enemies, boss fights is all better than Rebirth. Problem with Rebirth is nothing changes from beginning to end, same as remake in the combat, very repetitive. 16s combat is the best system since DMC5, which same combat designer so there you go, has many different combinations through out the whole game
Which has better graphics
i dont know about combat, but which character have a BETTER PURPOSE i have the answer for that. clive have a real purpose than the cheesy cloud’s story plot.
I couldnt finish FF16 because although the combat and game was beautiful it got so repetitive that i sold the game before i finished it, might get again when on sale but FF7 is on a diffenet dimension its GOTY contendar and probably one of the best FF ever made
I played both. But ff7 combat didn’t work for me. I felt much more limited on my actions. And personally that pause time to select items or magic broke my immersion every time. Not saying the game is bad. But definitely not for me.
Turn based FF13 the best
Final fantasy 16 have best combat then all final fantasy because final fantasy 16 worked from dmc combat director
no comparison. 16’s combat is for infants who want to “combo” up on snail mobs. it’s not combat.
Loved them both
Enjoyed 16 but gotta go wih 7 rebirth
So far im enjoying ff7 rebirth much more.
Ff16 while it has a good story and characters it just dosent have much room to breathe and just be a game.
I felt like i was watching ff16 more then playing it.
But still all the big boss fight encounters were really epic and when the game cooked it went all out.
1 thing for sure, combat in 16 is so enticing. Once a serious fight is done u either get tired or wants more of it.
The combat in 16 does “feel” satisfying but the more you understand it the more you realize how it’s just an extremely shallow God of War wannabe. 7 has a great mixture of action and strategy that actually feels appropriate for what a modern Final Fantasy game should be.
both are not so great
16 looks better runs better and summons look wayyyyyy better
16 was a great game wonderful storyline like we expected from ff but rebirth is on another level! One of the best games of all time especially if you’re an old school fan! Rebirth is a Masterpiece!
I’ll wait for 16 to go down price or the inevitable ps plus release. Its basically still full price and screw dat
16
I love 7 but I gotta give it to 16
It’s not even close lmao. FF XVI is so abysmally bad…
XVI is more fun imo but Rebirth’s is better
The pronunciation of Yuffie at 4:42 was so upsetting.
Both games are phenomenal!
I prefer FF 16’s combat but I also like action games like God of War a lot more.
The answer is pretty simple: Granblue Fantasy Relink.
Both are awsome. But…im old school and like the control of all characters that 7 offers. Again i loved both but prefer 7
how about, quit comparing two things that are fantastic in their own separate ways. gamers are the worst omf
Is…. is this a joke? Rebirth crushes 16.
Is this even close? Of course FF7 Rebirth has the better combat. FF7 Rebirth will KICK YOUR ASS if you don’t strategies and think. FF7 Rebirth is also incredibly dynamic to the point of insanity and so complex. Final Fantasy 16 is a combat that is great too however it’s so streamline in comparison.
Admit it, XVI was good for a couple hours until it just turned into a weird and boring mess.
I think ff16 has a much more fun combat system however I think ff7 has better rpg mechanics by using materia and weaknesses against enemies. But the actual level of fun combat is in ff16 is on another level than rebirth. Both are amazing games but different from each other with each having their own strengths and weaknesses
Overall, Rebirth’s combat is better because of it’s depth and overall fun factor. However, I prefer the action game feel of FF16 in general. It’s hard to enjoy summons in Rebirth after experiencing some of the summon game play in FF16. FF16’s combat and enemy variety just needed a bit more work.
7 hands down. This should be the new battle system moving forward
Ff16 made for man FF7 made for kids
Not to mention you fight like the same 6 monsters in ff7.
Hated ff16. The weak story and the same combat over and over again. Ff7 rebirth has so much more going for it. Even ff7 remake was better than 16 imo.
I love dmc and didnt think ff16 came anywhere close. Ff7 all the way.
16 combat was insanely boring. Rebirth is decent in classic mode.
Well, I really liked Remake’s combat… But now, after playing XVI and its fluid, fast, engaging and flawlessly animated battle system, I find it REALLY hard adjusting and going back to Remake’s combat in Rebirth. It’s considerably slower and clunkier and therefore less engaging. It’s more tactical, yes, but still too basic to make up for the clunkiness and slowness with it’s depth.
Hope I’ll “regain” the love I had for it in Remake and that XVI didn’t completely spoil Rebirth’s combat for me (or any other action game that isn’t DMC V, that is).
It’s so hard to go back to 7 after the combat expression of 16. It seems folks love the side content of 7 a ton, but I feel like those are more distractions instead of the meat of the game.
Is this a real question? One word; Tifa… oh wait, but still, FF7Rebirth got team combo, and multiple characters and their different mechanics…
The Synergies abilities alone put FF7 way above FF16 in terms of combat.
16 so boring…. my least favorite FF ever
I really enjoyed XVI, especially compared to XV, but I really missed the tactical aspect to combat from previous games. Not to mention controlling only Clive for the entire game became very repetitive, even more so when you’ve found your optimal ability setup. The system they’ve established with the Remake trilogy is one I think they should develop upon and implement in all future mainline games as it strikes the perfect balance between fun, challenging, and the classic formula. 🤓
The boss fights in 16 was epic as fuck, I had to take a break after each boss cos of how badass it was😂it’s like my ps5 needed a break.
7 Rebirth’s combat has a 1 up against FF16. FF16 is straightforward, doesn’t require that much strategy at all. Enemies don’t have any weaknesses so you can use any element you want it doesn’t matter which eliminates the need of strategy. The ONLY strategy for FF16 is just to dish out as much damage as you can to make the enemies stagger, that’s about it. The RPG elements in FF16 were so barebones that it’s barely even an RPG anymore. Weapons were just stat stuffers with no special effects such as critical or elemental damage bonuses. FF7 Remake and Rebirth, you have to implement a strategy for every combat encounter or most combat encounters. Materia helps customize each character’s spell list or abilities you want them to use plus with the party leveling up system which adds a whole new depth to the overall combat experience. Both games have fast paced combat but FF7 Rebirth wins this by a mile.
My main main issue is how blurry 7 looks i just cant play it, its so weird 🙁
Haven’t played rebirth yet just the demo but if it was between remake or 16, 16 takes it for me, I like the action skill based combat vs the having to control multiple people also not having really any parry or perfect dodges is a big negative for me
That Bahamut fight in XVI was truly fucking crazy. Final Fantasy XVI is really a weird and special game that I love a lot.
I like the Menu system in Rebirth, but 16 has better action-based/combos.
7Rb feels a lot more loose, where 16 is very tight and crisp and accurate.
I like them both, but they’re just very different and I think it’s just a matter of personal opinion on what’s more enjoyable.
They’re both really best in class
I don’t like 16 combat. Rebirth does action combat right imo. Plus locking me to only one party member is lame.
Rebirth. When enemies go outside and then return to their respawn area, in 16 the health starts all over again. Combat is way more reinforced and robust in FF7 Rebirth, i really like 16 for other reasons, but combat miles better in Rebirth
16 is obvious the best of the 2 because of how deep the action combat is. Rebirth is more simple and given the new tools interesting to customize.
16 has Arcade Style game combat, where the replayability is pretty high and you going to keep getting better. Rebirths Replayability will depend on the choices you going to have for partners, synergy skills, and limit breaks, which is fascinating.
But if I was stuck on an island with no internet and only one game, I would pick 16.
16 was a good game. Getting unnecessary hate. It was a whole new game and characters unlike 7 rebirth which we seen almost too many games related to 7, only flaw. But ff7 is way more fun tho. 16 i had a blast though but world didn’t have much to do
7 hands down for me. Cuz you can use a lot of characters. Its fun to skill spam as Clive but he is way too OP
EASILY Rebirth, by a mile
is that even a real questen FF7R combat was good Intergrade was Insane FF7 Rebirth is Bonkers AF in no world could FF16 holsa Candel to the combat of FF7R .. dont Get me worng FF16 is a Fantasic game but the combat is meh and FF7R combat is his bread and butter and got so so so much better with Rebirth
I wish Torgel gets his own game.
Both games are freaking fantastic in my opinion
For me most satisfying combat games are still Metal Gear Rising and Ninja Gaiden , haven’t seen any games beat their combats in many many years already they are just a great combat in gaming history
7 , 16 get boring pretty fast.
It took me a few hours to adjust to rebirths combat it felt floaty and i found it a pain in the ass to keep track of the enemy’s abilities with all the flashy effects 16 imo had more weight to it and i found it a lot easier to do dodges and perfect blocks which keep up the flow of battle rebirth fills like just attack where as 16 had a bit more flow to it.
Rebirth has a lot more to it and it looks very cool but 16 imo had a better flow to it both good but i do miss the dodge mechanic of 16
No party in 16 is a hard pass for me.
Love devil may fantasy 16 it had a great story, soundtrack and gameplay. Ff7 rebirth has also been an amazing game with a great story obviously but I find ff7 rebirth is much more hand holding then 16. Sure you can wear items that make 16 a button mashing brainless experience but you can literally choose a harder mode and just parry things to add to the gameplay.
I haven’t played Rebirth yet either but Final Fantasy 16 has way too much button mashing for me. That’s the only thing I don’t particularly like about Final Fantasy 16s combat. Everything else about the combat is fine like the cinematic actions and the Quick Time Events are really good. The Devil May Cry like combat in Final Fantasy 16 is really good too!❤💙
Ff7 rebirth is for the people who wanna pretend to be tactical and smart but won’t admit their just mashing square and dodging till a bar fills up😂 16 is a half baked dmc clone that at least had you playing instead of just spamming enemy weaknesses for staggers and then pretending that youre so smart for using a fire ball on a ice bird… All so you can mash square or an ability you’ve seen 300 times before
Sony has a scalper problem and it needs to be fixed.
God Loves Action RPGs. 😂💪🗣️💯 *#FFOverEverything*
Ff16 is a piece of shit
I love them both and actually like that they have different combat styles.
7 is way better, 16 combat gets monotonous fast. The RPG is much deeper in 7 with all the weapons and Gear and Materia and Skills and mutiple Charcaters and switching, synergies is much deeper.
Also you can change combat to multi skill so l2 and r2 can have 4 skill equipped so less menus and do it for every characyer
FF16 was a fail to the rpg genre
I’m sry but this isn’t even close. Ff16 combat is easily in the top 5 combat systems in all of gaming. FF7 remake/rebirth doesn’t even compare or compete. Now I love FF7 in all its forms but the combat is bare bones and mostly button mashing even on the harder difficulty.
do you want to feel like a god and look cool? = FF16
do you want to rely on your party and desire strategic depth? = FF7R
I do find it point less why Sony needs Final Fantasy to be exclusive when it already sales better on PlayStation
FF7 remake.
I like ff16 too
But ff7 remake takes the cake here.
Without any questions, Final Fantasy 16 is the worst in the series and on all levels
Ff16 is trash 🗑. N combat is worst
FF7 Rebirth feels a bit stripped down for me as nothing has beens said of Cid Highwind or Vincent Valentine yet at all, plus I’d like the full story in its original state. Ive been playing FF16 nonstop in waiting for The Rising Tide DLC that should be dropping soon.
really? it´s not even comparable, Rebirths combat is way more profound than 16 , 16 combat is for people who dont even play rpgs , its way too simplistic and boring compared to rebirths complexity.
Haven’t played Rebirth yet, but 16 will damage your controller with all the button mashing.
16s combat got really old eventually, at the end of the game it’s just about staggering an enemy and using your eikon abilities that have cooled down. FF7s is so much more diverse and engaging instead of mashing square plus eikon abilities
After FF16 fast combat I couldn’t adjust to hybrid FF7 style. For all winging about mushing square just change handicap amulets and enjoy your own fast reflexes.
Rebirth wins by a lot honestly
Clive’s snatched af waist is the winner for me
XVI hands down. The development literally had combat kings like DMC combat director, nier and kingdom hearts.
IMO the combat from ff15 should’ve been on ff16 but I am enjoying rebirth combat way more
The one that’s ACTUALLY AN RPG
Ff7 became a cash grab releasing in parts when you can just get the ps1 version. Ff16 all the way
Waste of time!!!
The fact that people see anything good about 16 tells me that the name aline is enough to brainwash people into thinking it’s a good game. If 16 had been presented as any other franchise it would have been 6 out of tens across the board.
FF16
Rebirth has great combat when it comes to the synergy abilities. 16 however, is definitely for people who like Devil May Cry and other action games. Rebirth requires some strategy while 16 is more straight forward. I like them both in their own ways
Final fantasy 7 is always the W
All I know is 15 had the best summon presentation.
XVI is better in every aspect. Rebirth is kid friendly for newbies
Rebirth
