Game look so beatiful that causes me to forget about zelda’s ne game release… Only thing that sounds weird is the optional ring that let you fight like a god… was that really necessary?

Square has improved but this quality isnt enough at these days, as an FF series the graphics quality need to be top notched which clearly this isnt comparing to other new games. As an artist myself just pointing out some of the issues: the charcters arent appealing enough, ff used to have great character designs, but now it’s losing the edge, especially comparing to korean games, these characters are kind of dull, the female characters arent nearing appealing. The skin is still rather plastic, well as the weapon looking too flat, clearly a texture issue, the specular and saturation is a little low, is why the skin, clothes/leather props doesnt have the specular it should in reality. The backgrounds have the same issues, a bit over dull, lacking of the wow/fantasy atmospheres it used to have, textures are too flat overly depreciating normals/specular, while the effects have overly high contrasts and saturation. Lighting is no good at all, mostly overcast which is again flat and boring, with like a cloud of dust, foggy halos covering the areas, would also be better to have night time or magic hours. If theres is fog it needs to have style, i suggest trying william fauchers Easy Fog on UE5, it’s lightweight and looks fantastic on the environments. FF7’s lighting, textures and environments were a lot better it should follow on that approach, or use other games like arkham knight/tr as reference, better yet look at a game trailer star wars eclipse by quantic dreams you will see why this has issues. Ditching turn base is a smart choice, but the speed/movements can be a bit even faster, with stronger impacts and evasions. The guardians were having the same issues, same repeating guardians for generations, also have skin texture quality problems, again looking too plastic. This seems to be a continuation of the ff15 failure which square didnt learn much, with a world overly large leading to lost of quality, overly complicated systems with annoying settings/tasks which werent fun at all that bothers the players rather than playing the game, is the reason why players/fans are complaining and leaving ff.

I feel like they need to tone down the battle effects.. unlike turn based rpgs the new games are very intense in combat..there are 100’s of strikes in combat in quick succession which leads to overly dazzling array of effects happening on the screen. Special effects look better when they are well ‘special’ and not a mess of very fast intense colours on the screen. Just my 10p!

I like this presentation. It feels a lot more casual and straightforward. Much better than a single guy standing on stage stumbling through a script and doesn’t know what to do with his hands.

It looks good graphically, but I really don’t like where the character design is going. They all look somewhat bland and uninteresting for now. The Eikons rock though!

I’ll stick to the FF Pixel Remasters. This isn’t Final Fantasy.

I’m quite happy about the game having open zones. It works well for games like God of War 2018/Ragnarok and I think it’ll work great here. The “Open World” of FF15 had mostly nothing between where you needed to actually go anyway, might as well just trim the fat.

The only additional thing i wish included was equipment for the dog which will reflected as costume. Like helmet, armor, claw and accessory. That would be so cool fighting alongside armored dog instead of naked like that. Kind of un immersive since the dog in reality would just die with any attack if without armor.

I really want to thank Square Enix for considering players who may not be able to play hardcore action games. I’ve been playing Final Fantasy games since the original on NES. I’m in my 40s now, my hands and fingers hurt more than they used to, and I really wasn’t looking forward to how crazy combat was going to be in this game. But the Timely Accessories will give me and other players like me options to make the game more playable and approachable.

The more I learn about FF16 the more I resign myself that it isn’t a game for me. The issues I have with action games has nothing to do with difficulty, rather that I don’t enjoy that genre very much. In every game like this I end up mashing square, square, square, triangle for 40 straight hours and I’m sorry, I’m done with that. It’s not fun. Equipping assistance items to make it a single button doesn’t solve my issues with the action genre as a whole.

Any reason why this is just a PlayStation game? How much did Sony pay them for this to just be on PlayStation…….?

I dunno what they did, but I’m not entirely sure if it’s easy or hard to make an SSD to load an entire zone of that scale in 4-5 secs. I’m used to 15sec load times that a loading time so short they didn’t even put in a loading circle looks… magic!

I’m so glad the rest of the FF World gets to meet YoshiP and Koji. We XIV players hold him dear to our hearts and are just happy to see more of the team take on even more FF content. They’ll do it amazing justice 💙.

For those who are wondering why FF main titles have greadually step away from turn base gameplay, It is important to keep things in perspective and consider the following:

Yakuza like a Dragon has sold more than 490,000 copies (as reported on October 2022). Before its launch the total amount of sales the franchise had accumulated was 2.8 million units among all the games.

Dragon Quest XI has sold over 6.5 million copies which expand several versions and ports for multiple platforms.

Persona 5 has sold 8.3 million units globally but that is including the original version, the Royal version (3.3 million across all platforms), Persona 5 Strikers and P5: Dancing in Starlight.

For those series which until now they have a more niche franchise, that is huge and impressive numbers in comparisson. But for a more mainstream series like FF, which FF XV has sold 10 million despite all its problems and beign in way less platforms (like Nintendo Switch) not so much.

I am not saying that a turn-based FF game with a AAA budget could be done in the future, but now it may not be the right time.

Unfortunately I will not be picking this game up on launch due to it’s exclusivity on PS5. Sony of America didn’t really think things through when designing the PS5, especially with the liquid metal cooling. I’ll be interested once this comes out on PC.

I think this move to a fully action based FF is a good one. I have been playing FF since FF7, and I also play Devil May Cry, and this looks like a good mix between the two. Really looking forward to seeing the game when it launches!

Not a fan with how the translator takes a mocking tone quoting people with legitimate concerns. In the case of things being very dark and hard to see, that’s a complete failure on the dev team for not finding a reason to choose an actually visible area to showcase their gameplay. But Yoshida has a god complex and massive ego, so he thinks he can’t make mistakes.

Leaving aside the details, I would like to see a setting to turn the damage number ON / OFF or make it smaller!
I feel that the damage numbers are too assertive and the sense of immersion in the world view diminishes.

Happy for all you that are getting a cool looking action game, but I am sad that “turned based” final fantasy games are probably dead. I’m hopeful though that maybe they could do the Yakuza like a dragon thing and have a turned based series and action series, but I don’t really trust square to do that.

This is not the first action RPG Final Fantasy. Please stop saying that Yoshi-P. Its massively disrespectful to VII Remake and XV.

FFXVI is A definite must-by game for every PS5 owner. I’ve been playing FF since the first one I had played on my PS in 1998. I have played almost every FF game including FFI, II, III, IV, VII, VII Remake, VIII, IX, X, X-2, XII, and XIII. I skipped FFXV as it was the worst with boring gameplay and story. Graphics wise FFXIII was the best, and story wise VII was the best.

Critics were wrong that the game contains only white characters. The Kingdom of Dhalmekians have brown (colored) characters and people walking in the streets. 11:46, 16:11, etc.
The Dhalmekians seems to be real world counterpart of brown Arabs, or Middle Eastern (Kurdish, Persian).

The game lacks Africans and South/East Asian characters, which is understandable since the setting is the medieval age (real world: 500 CE to 1400 CE) when Middle Eastern and Europeans were the two main superpowers of the period.

The lack of diversity in the world/main characters is disappointing. Would have liked to see other obvious human variations (asian/black/etc) as well as new and interesting non human races who may have been party members. This is a fantasy game that isn’t restricted to real races like black, white, and asian. FF9 had Freya, Qu, and Amarant. FF10 had Khimari. FF11 had mithra, galka, tarutaru, and elvaan. FF12 had viera, banggaa, and seeq (Gria and Aegyl as well in the larger ivalice universe). FF14 has a large amount. Use your imagination ffs. Thought we had moved past eurocentric-medieval-lord of the rings-everyone is white nonsense that old games had. You’d think a game made by people of color would highlight and celebrate that, but on the other hand asians have always had a penchant for worshipping whiteness for some sad reason. Oh well..

I’ve enjoyed this live stream so much!! Both Yoshi-P and Koji Fox are incredibly charismatic and seem to be very passionate about the game they’ve created. Everything shown in this presentation is just MINDBLOWING!! Final Fantasy XVI will be a wonder to behold, for sure.

Anyone concerned by how easy it all looks? Just finished the stream, the fights looked way easy like no threat of death. Hopefully this is just early stages there showing to avoid spoilers and it actually gets somewhat challenging, but I know a lot of people who previewed the demo said it was easy there also.

This presentation is incredible, Square Enix went hard with this game and i’m loving it. You can tell the FF16 Devs really care about creating absolute quality and also Jill is Shiva’s Dominant actually really surprised me, i guess i’m not paying attention because i had no idea she was.

This game looks amazing but my only gripe is that the VFX are a bit overwhelming during combat. It’s like hard to follow what is actually happening.

When they say FF16 is running in engine/Realtime i cant help but laugh. Its obvious These Visuals are ps4 quality but the visuals look really good. FF16 couldve been cross gen just like God of war Ragnarok.

There’s really no way one could say this without being an a-hole, but… The level of accessibility allowed by the Timely accessories aside, they really did the best kind of diss towards people who were whining about FFXVI being an action game. Particularly, those whining about it when they have no disabilities which are physically keeping them from playing it.

Yoshida-san pretty much equipped them and effectively played a game with DMC5 combat—in real time on stream—with ONE hand. You could play the game with a garage door opener and beat it

I swear the whole thing about ARB, difficulty etc, is so overrated. I’d take a harder game any day. Yes, if you are physically unable to play this game, it is nice to have options in game for inclusivity and a boon to have more people of all kinds playing the game.

I had zero interest in this gamr until i saw a thumbnail with a view of the desert snd it immediately got my attention. After watching some of this gameplay im hooked, the world looks amazing.

The timely accessories are a really smart way to “adjust” the difficulty of the gamestyle!! I wont be using them though unless they are needed for a trophy or anything! Ifrit is one of my favorite summons in the franchise, so glad we play as Ifrit more in FF16!!
Great presentation as always (they have experience from FF14 live letters and other presentations like keynotes etc)!!!! Cant wait for April’s news now!

one thing i have to say, Soken and team did an amazing job. i have a pretty expensive stereo hifi and was blown away by the suround effect. you really have to tweak the sound a lot to get that effect.

the world map is so beautiful. It reminds me of old FF, like IX, even though you cannot ”walk” on it. Loved it!

Coming from a fan and having a deep love for final fantasy, I can tell this game is going to be amazing. So much meaning has been added to the story and with it’s high paced action – I am really looking forward to it. I just pray that there is an insane amount of loot and secrets to discover.

This is better than I thought, I wanted this game but was never that hyped because of what happened to the previous entries.

54:16 even though I bought FFXV and beat it in it’s entirety (besides the new stuff like the vehicle additions, and episode ardyn), that’s what turned me away from the game. I’ve always like FF games for their tactility, and I never got that sense in 15, and seeing that sort of made my flame sputter, so I hope there will be manual gameplay to it’s core for those that want it.

I’m worried. It took a long time for a level 45 group to kill a level 28 storm panther. I dont like huge long battles for low level mobs.

I’m being a little knit picky, but I hope there are other accessories besides just the timely ones. I like to try out different variations of equipment load outs, so I hope we can have some varied equipment. Either way I am so excited and all of concerns are so minor I really think this will be special! Oh, I also wanted to comment on Yoshi-P’s sweater. You see in his XIV presentations he likes to hint at things with his clothing pretty frequently, so i started thinking about his baby chocobo on a red field there. The Eikon’s icons displayed in the top left, showing who is equipped, are all on either a filed of red or blue. It just got me speculating lol probably means nothing, but that is something Yoshi-P likes to do very often, so while its doubtful, who knows! Come to me, Ifrit!!!!!!

I am getting tired of these real time action combat RPGs. There are already too many of them. Especially when it’s not in an actual open world but in closed off areas. I hate the idea that your character turns into summons. Pretty much ruins what made Final Fantasy good about the series. BRING BACK OPEN WORLDS AND SUMMONS!

Give us the option to turn off QTE!! You say the won’t result in game over but will it result in a return to the previous phase with less health?? It’s so weird you have this “feature” yet you spend all your time trying to convince us it will be okay lol

SMOOTH 60FPS with still high details/animations & crazy accessibility features for those that need them. They really do want anyone to enjoy this regardless of skill level, which is good.

Maybe I’ll change my mind if they address it later but part way in but I’m really hoping this game has strong HDR built in cause the graphics are pretty washed out, just like FFXIV.

So the game has this accessories for babies, for people who need a hard, normal and easy mode. those rings make combat an absolute joke. i cannot wait to bash my head against a wall until it breaks,

Looks amazing but the combat lets it down for me. FF15 was a button mashing mess and though I expect the combat will be far superior in 16, I want the turn based combat back. A new advanced turned based system, Square Enix did it before with the unique hybrid systems in FF12 and FF13. New FF16 is playing like every other modern AAA action game recently, over the top hyper speed combat for example Forspoken, Bayonnetta 3, Wo Long, Babylons Fall and more. It’s getting boring and FF can be better.

The graphics looked incredible. Was very nice how they showed actual gameplay and a bit of exploration the adventure feel really got me hyped. The combat was my least favorite of what I have seen, not a big fan of all of those nonstop flashy teleportations and swirly lights and wings appearing for no reason. Its cool to have flashy finishers and heavy hitting skills, but doesn’t have any impact when it is in every attack.

Yoshi P getting down with the gameplay. I love how he can present the game well and even play the game well! You don’t see a producer do that often or ever.

The game doesn’t feel that epic from the look. It’s actually not high to live up to the old final fantasy title from PS1. I don’t know why, it feels generic and not too special. The way he presents feel like FFXV. Well, guess I had to wait for the FF7 rebirth presentation.
