Honest comment: After FFX, I stopped to play. For me FF was always amazing coz of the round based attacks where you could think and choose your next movement. Simply perfect.
But all changed!, the gamplay afterwards was to stressful and so annoying that i stopped it totally. As now as I see the video, it reminds me more like Elders or every other game which uses the same technique – nothing unique anymore…

In my childhood, one of the first’s introductions to RPG was FF 7, and i played 8/9 aswell; After that i cant recognize Final Fantasy anymore. Whats is this?

Final Fantasy’s character is NOT the turn based combat (which btw is not truly turn based except in FFX).

I know people might have liked the formula, but it is very outdated. And to tell you the truth, FF series would feel boring if it kept that formula.

FF’s character lies in its Universe; the spells, the summons, the characters. And I prefer seeing the FF series trying to stay fresh rather than just releasing more of the same. Given that the gameplay is good (and it not being turn based doesn’t make it bad, I’m sure you’ve played non turn based games which you love, so just because this is FF doesn’t mean the rule changes the gameplay CAN be good) my next main concern is the story! If the story is good, and the gameplay is good, and the FF characters are there, the FF vibes will resonate well enough! Having a turn based game these days is a bit boring. And as I said before, besides FFX, no other FF was ever truly turn based. So stop whining! If it’s well developed, I prefer total freedom while fighting instead of a semi-free semi-turn base system with ATB. It makes you feel more in control. And these days, a semi-turn based game feels a bit clanky and restrictive.

FF7 remake is an AMAZING game. Hot take, I didn’t really like the PS1 version. I only loved FF7 for its characters. But now the story is so much more fleshed out, and having total freedom in combat makes this a whole new experience.

I love me some turn based games, but a series trying to stay fresh is not a sin. Judge the gameplay without any bias! Enjoy the fucking game, if it’s objectively enjoyable, and stop making life harder for you.

looks interesting but the overuse of effects is an issue many games have, too much clutter makes it hard to see and enjoy what really happens in a combat, wish they tone it down a bit or have an option to minimize it.

Maybe I’m just old but final fantasy lost me completely when it went action based. There are some great turned based games out there at least. This does nothing for me personally. Would rather play something like modded skyrim over this. 7, 8, and 9 will always have a special place in my heart.

Unpopular opinion but I don’t like how dark it is. If I wanted to play dark souls, I’d just play dark souls! FF has always been bright and beautiful adventures, very saturated colors. This feels like the devs are just going in the way all the popular “gritty” games are these days. But thank you for the review and video!

It’s still at a very early stage in the game but I already noticed 2 negative things about this game. 1: noticed how the NPC on your side just stood there doing nothing watching while your character just hack/slash away? Clearly a sign of dumb/unbalanced NPC A.I. within the game.
2: the enemies in this game are a lot like bullet soaking sponges. Here’s a question, how many times of hack/slash does it take to bring the enemies health down? The world may never know.

Why don’t they just call this another game and then it would most likely be a cool game because this is NOT final fantasy! Final fantasy is turn based period end of story

Ive been playing the crap out of ff14 and the last couple dozen hours ive wished the combat was less rigid so i could play the game with less jarring interactions. This looks prime

The only thing I don’t like about the latest installments is that the combat is made for a toddler, you don’t even have to concentrate that much. It’s flashy and cool, but way too easy.

I’m so happy to see mobs of enemies. That means the battles won’t be against annoying meat shields like in the 7 remake. So far this looks really good, I just hope the story is top tier.
As far as his face tattoo goes, I believe it was said in one of the trailers or something that it’s a brand given to those who join this like backwater resistance force or something. It gave me “the nights watch” vibes from GoT, where is not a true official military force, but comprised of outcasts sort of. I could be mistaken though.

i hope SE can learn a bit from Capcom (gorgeous graphics but not power hungry) so i can join the people to enjoy this game on my potato.

30fps in todays age is HORRIBLE. 60fps should be lowest setting. 120fps at 1440 should be what games run on with todays console hardware. Even 4k at 60fps.

The quicktime usage is so wack. Takes me out of it, not a fan at all. I wish that part was removed or was a setting because I would legit rather not even interact than see a blue square appear and ruin my immersion.

Final fantasy is a turned based action role playing game. The last one they made was Final Fantasy X and X-2. Every game after that I don’t know what they were doing or why they are named Final Fantasy.

I was one of the rare people who loved the 15 on PC so Im excited about this one.

I’m super excited about the game and even though the giant summon boss fights look cool, I miss having Summons with me during fights and be able to summon them whenever I feel like.

Yeah fuck it, I mean. Game systems evolve. I will always have nostalgia from playing the whole Final Fantasy series… but the game isn’t defined by it’s turn based combat system. That’s shared by many games… but with the proliferation of reactive, dynamic combat action RPGs in the last decade like the soulsbournes and such, if you keep the core essence of what makes Final Fantasy *Final Fantasy*. The soul is still there. 16 seems to be going back to some of the old school kind of roots in the setting. What better way to introduce something modern than to juxtapose it with what we’re familiar with. I’m for it as a 16 year FF player.

I feel that there aren’t enough games like devil May cry so I’m all for this. Gameplay looks too notch and the beautiful visuals is icing on the top

Drab colors, bleak visuals, and a lot of button mashing. Looks just like any other western arpg from the last decade. Doesn’t seem to have anything that retains the identity of a FF title. If I wanted to play Elden Ring, I’d just go play Elden Ring. I’ll pass on this one

Graphically it looks incredible but the combat system doesn’t fit the game to be honest, something a bit more such as Dragon’s Dogma or Dark Souls even Elden Ring combat would be nicer.

I’ve heard they are making a FF9 Remake, my favorite Final Fantasy of them all, so I hope the combat system is not like this one, too DMC for me.

I’m not saying that this won’t be a good game, but unfortunately it’s not for me anymore.
Final Fantasy 16 is too action-heavy for me and honestly, apart from the Eikons, absolutely nothing reminds me of Final Fantasy.
The hope remains for me that someday a more classic entry of the series will return.

There’s something important FF fans must understand. The true essence of Final Fantasy ended when the original minds who gave life to those games left Square. That is a fact. What we get today has the Final Fantasy name and characters because Square owns the name, but that’s it. The essence of the games we have received since FFXII is an entirely different kind of product. This doesn’t mean these are not good games. I enjoyed FFXII gameplay, beat XIII and XIII-2 and enjoyed it, tons of people loves XIV. They can still produce good games with the name of Final Fantasy… but don’t expect them to be any similar to the classic Final Fantasy.

Idc what the die hard fans say, this looks like its gonna takeover the internet. Always thought the FF games looked far too cool to just be turn based combat😂😂 and that’s why I’ve always hated them. But this was made for me.

What happened to the Final Fantasy Series? Ever since FFX they have lost there way. Every game gets considerably worse and further from it’s true origins. FFXIV a Realm Reborn is great but the rest of the games they have churned out since FFX have been horrible. Less strategy and even worse stories. Where is the fantasy? What made the Final Fantasy series so great is the romance and fantasy intertwined with a great cast of characters. If they take FFXVI in the direction they are showing right now it wont be Final Fantasy anymore it will be Demon Souls with a Final Fantasy title. I am an open minded person, but I don’t see this series ever being what it once was. Hopefully we can just get more remakes of the classics. I’d love for them to remake FF8 and FF10.

The style reminds me a bit of the earlier 8 and 16 bit games… More straightforward fantasy, less of the fashionista, sci fi, modern-day elements that started coming in with the switch to 3-d.

Game seems to be awesome but the visual makes me remind why I miss Yasumi Matsuno so much.

Obviously it’s just one small area of the game but it looks nothing like Final Fantasy art design. Especially the colors.
