this game is so divisive, but as someone who played most of the ff games, this still left such a huge impact on me and easily became one of my favorites.. going into this with an open mind and taking the time to learn its combat and world is worth it

FFXVI is one of the best for characters and the themes they touch on are well done. This is a must play. You may not LOVE it, but it will leave a mark on you and keep you thinking long after you finish.

There are moments where FF16 did really well and I am sure you will leave with great impression, although the gameplay and the progression system isn’t quite up there with others. I still think this game has the best boss fights ever. You’ll see!

8:44 it is coming to PC, last I heard Yoshi P. said it will be sooner than you think, but no official date yet. To me that means when he gets done with Dawntrail’s release, they will focus more on it, more than likely Christmas would be a good drop.
16 quickly became a favorite for me, Clive is absolutely my favorite FF protagonist now, easy. I love the big battles in there, very cinematic, very enjoyable, cant say more without spoiling it a bit though.
You do have a party by the way, just Clive is very much the focus in battle. Hope you enjoy it when you play it too, would highly recommend the DLC too if you like it, they add some nice fights and cool stuff too, they all happen at the end (literally cant start them till the last main quest) though, so no rush, but they are good.

i guess you will love 16, cuz it is also great game for modern era and also my personal fav. but i guess 8 will have to wait after this.. i kinda wish you do all the classic run first haha

I enjoyed 16. Only gripes were: no mechanical depth to combat, and some atrociously bad side quests and exploration, and the main quest tried to get too big too fast. It would have benefited from staying more grounded and personal

I felt so much hype for 16 so much when it was announced, especially because I’ve been playing FF14 since ARR beta phase, and all I thought was, “Yes, Yoshi P!” lol. I haven’t played it yet though because real life caught up to me.

There are crystals in every mainline Final Fantasy but take on different role or importance. For example the crystals in 7 were the materia.

The game is my favourite FF currently. It’s been a while I’m wishing for a medieval setting FF with more mature story. They nailed it. Don’t miss out on the DLC…

Oh I hope you enjoy it! I really enjoyed it myself despite the flaws. I mean every modern FF has flaws (we all know 13 and 15 are very divisive– I think they still are, although people seem to have softened on them over time, I’ve been seeing more 13 and 15 appreciation lately).

Anyways can’t wait for you to meet my favorite character Bahamut, that’s all I’ll say lol.

i enjoyed ff16, my only issues with it was the pacing. its structured the same throughout the entire game, its going pretty slow, so slow sometimes it can get abit boring even, and then it starts to build and gets extremely epic at times, and then it slows down again and does the same thing over. overall its a good game, but it would be alot better without those pacing issues, that for me atleast, lowered my overall enjoyment abit from what it could have been.

Ff16 is awesome but its an action RPG. Not like the previous games.

I think I loved everything about this game except for the romance, which was virtually nonexistent, in my opinion, probably the worst written part which was depressing, but it was FINE with me because, not the most appealing couple either. I enjoyed the combat and another game carried by NPC’s honestly 😂
I got stuck and quit playing not long after uh- something happened and I was more than happy to give up

Bit too traumatizing of a story to earn the title of Final Fantasy to me. It’s probably at the very bottom for me of favorite games because the story is a big part of it for me and this was just too dark and real.💔
Best part about this game is definitely voice acting, there’s nothing in the world of acting I love more than foreign accents.

Don’t go into this comparing it to every one you played so far because you’ll not enjoy it fully since they are completely different games.

Just enjoy every moment and do all you can, there’s so much to learn and experience. I can’t wait to see how you react to the story 🙂

The game is…fine. It’s ridiculously easy for starters. It’s just mopping up trash mobs for hours. The boss fights are really cool, but there is zero challenge. I literally never saw a Game Over screen, so nothing felt earned. I enjoyed it while playing but in hindsight it’s one of the worst FF entries; cinematic and high production values aside.

why did you stop playing this game after spending 6-7hrs on it? This game had such a captivating intro.

That trailer made me cave in and buy a PS5.
I don’t regret it but had it not been for this title I’d probably have waited at least until FF VII Rebirth was released.
Well, on the other hand I’d get to play one of my favorite games of all times (Sword and Fairy: Together Forever) due to that, which I may have had missed out on otherwise.

But you wanted to know how we rate Final Fantasy XVI.
It’s an awesome game but it does play in a world I would not want to live in.
To me it feels…… “sad” or “dreary”, if that makes any sense. (By the way, that’s not a spoiler, just my impression of the world.)
I do like the characters though.
The gameplay is very nice as well and the game as such improves a whole lot on a particular point I really disliked in XV, which of course I won’t talk about any more than this.
Do I think FF XVI is perfect?
No. While it is great it does not come close to my favorite FF games in my opinion.
From the ones you have played I would rate it lower than IX and VII Rebirth but above X.

Played all of the FF games and this actually has become my favorite. I am a big fan of the more classic fantasy style FF games as well as CBU3 with their work on FF14, so when It was revealed that FF was not only going back the the more classic fantasy setting with CBU3 at the helm, I was sold. The game is not for everyone, and can be mixed amongst fans for its focus on action combat, and no party, but it genuinely is a very well crafted game and a good FF game at heart. I hope you enjoy it!

16 is a great game. Great characters, great acting, great visuals, GREAT EPIC BATTLES.
It’s a solid 8/10 game and IMO the best mainline since 10.
Bottom line, you’re gonna have a blast! Just make sure to not compare it to Rebirth

I know I didn’t care for it, pushing that woke agenda bs. Ticked me off royally they turned Bahamet gay.

I liked the game a lot, it kickstarted my dive into FF. I really love the story and the characters. The writing is honestly the best thing about it. The battle system has a little learning curve due to each ability (I actually struggle with one of them) the music is top notch as well!
Hm the only downside i can think of is the side quests but luckily the really important ones will have a special marker over them. I do recommend doing all the side quests tho for world building. The world is so rich and it builds upon that. I’ll look at a list if you’d like for the best storytelling sidequests.
This game made CBU3 my fave in SE as well as soken is the best musician in SE too. I don’t make the rules it’s just true 😂

The voice acting in 16 is just absolutely fantastic. Most of them are from my neck of the woods, North East England.

I loved the older cast, music, and the story. While the world is big, there isn’t much to explore. I think you can maybe enter 2 buildings. It desperately needs levity and moggles in the latter half. It has some pacing issues and the combat is boring. It falls behind 7, 9, and 10. I may even put it behind 8. That’s mainly because the combat system is solely a button masher. No real status effects or elementals. The visuals, story, and music save the day.

FF16 is a solid game, but an awful Final Fantasy
No party
No lighthearted moments
Basically no JRPG mechanics
An antagonist that doesn’t come close to the best the series has to offer

A majority of the story is pretty good and I do like most of the main cast and side villains.
Soken also knocked the OST out of the park.

Clive is your party with how much abilities he has woof you don’t need a party 😂

I personally loved this game. The only real part that kinda sucked was there were so many side quests… music is fantastic, story is great and voice acting was superior. You will love this game.

Hey, excited to watch this journey mate. Only advise is avoid overthink regarding the lack of RPG elements in the game. It’s wild and distinguishable lack of, but if you get focused on storytelling and the visual pleasure built in there, you’ll get highly surprised by this release. Big things are coming!

16 sucks bro… You want a mint Final Fantasy? Get your happy ass on over to FF6

Quite possibly the best cinematic sequences of any game I’ve ever played. Story is great, battles are fun but classic JRPG elements are missing sadly. Still a lot of fun!

I truly loved this game CBU 3 NAILED it.
At one point I couldnt muster up the effort for a MMO.
In 2013 something changed and I gave it a chance, XIVs story is in my top 3 of ALL Final Fantasy. Its challenges and teachings I hold very dear.
I say this because CBU3 went FAR out of their element for this Mainline Title, and I emplore anyone to give it a chance, its not for everyone and thats OK! Just give it a fair shot.
(Can we get over NOT including XIV in the numbered titles? Its childish)

CBU3 is up there with Nomura and Kitase for me, They all had brought happiness into my life, such awesome people.

As a long time FF fan I can say this: FF16 is mid, however it’s better than 13 and 15.

The biggest problems with 16 is the combat (baby mode easy), weak stupid reskinned enemies, and the last 1/4 of the story(lame villain IMO)

Would recommend FF8 over this, its my personal fave. 😉 FF16 had very less rpg elements, lots of downs, combat is very flat. But the main story can be nice. And songs are good

The performance mode has improved A TON since launch, right now it has a more stable resolution and it maintains 60 fps a lot, if not most of the time.

It’s a massive improvement from XV. It’s the game of thrones FF… but misses out on the lighthearted moments. Prepare for emotional exhaustion. Once you think it’s about to wrap up you only midway thru.

Never played 16 so im excited to see the story

I’m actually super excited for this, I watched all of your ff7 stuff, but i found you awhile after you did it so I couldn’t be there live, so I’ll try to be there for this one, and hopefully be in chat

Been looking forward to the 16 playthrough 🙂 My (non-spoilery) advice: take the time to learn the combat mechanics more in-depth. If you just spam strong attacks, you may enjoy it less than if you get into the nitty-gritty of how to string together aerial combos and juggles.
