This final boss is really disappointing. The 1v1 not the 3v1 that was cool. From the reuse of music which is rampant in this game for some reason, and the final boss not even coming to par with the scope of Titan Lost, I think it would’ve benefit heavily from taking another note from Asura’s Wrath and have the final boss be similar to Asura’s Wrath. A subdued track with the two of them fighting.

i expected something different from the game regarding ultima and clive, when ultima talked about human will, saying he wanted clives body but clives free will stopped it i was excited at what that could mean. then, a couple hours before the final boss ultima said some things that pretty much seemed like he was ready to destroy clive mentally in preperation for claiming his body. i say this because i expected ultima to shatter clives mind or at least attempt to- to kill everyone clive holds dear. when ultima took clive into that weird “dimension” the one that had cid and mid talking, jill and her youngerself along with josh and his father, i thought it was the beggining of the end starting with ultima killing clives ego, shattering it. i know what i wished would happen through my own interpretation is what made me dissapointed but entertain me a little, would that not be cool?!? and obv i knew clive wouldnt give his body up to ultima even if his ego was gone, he would keep on fighting just like he told josh before they left for the final battle

Puke Fantasy: The Beginning

Reminds me of Naruto Storm 3’s final battle.

The game have so much flaws, but that whole ending gameplay, musics, and cutscenes really was something. Didn’t excepted at all to be so emotionnal, that Joshua and Clive flashbacks and the music, then the unexpected death of Clive, alone, was so tragic and sad, I shed a tear when Jill understand he’s no more.

I completed the game last night and though I did overall love the game and think it’s a massive step in the right direction for Final Fantasy (grim instead of chipper, adult instead of teen, real time combat instead of half and half combat, characters ACTUALLY having sex rather than just teen flirting) as of right now I do feel the ending was a bit rushed.

From what I am understanding, Jill didn’t go with Clive to Origin because if she primed she would, “lose her mind” like Benedikta did… But Dion primed, stayed sane during the first fight and just before death transformed back into a human and THEN died… So… you don’t lose your mind or do you?

Ultima’s goal was… essentially he was a hive mind alien race that depleted its resources on its, possible home planet and escaped to Valisthea (which confused me because I thought Valisthea was just the continents, but apparently it’s the whole world? Yet they use the term, “earth” too?) to implant the world with crystal and magic to suck up aether in hopes of gaining enough power over centuries to cast a spell to destroy the blight on this world….but…the magic CAUSED the blight?… So that he could remake the world into his home for his species…. Okay, bit of plot holes there, but overall it’s not bad.

Clive essentially went on a suicide mission, died for the world, but they left his fate ambiguous. Metia suddenly fades out implying that Clive is dead, but I honestly thought that star was going to have some big reveal, but nope.

Fast forward to an unknown time in the future, magic is gone (considered a “fairy tale”) that future generations only know of in the book, “Final Fantasy”… Very FFVII ending where it shows the world did survive, but our heroes are long gone.

It ends with exactly what every player no doubt wanted to see: a slow-motion close-up of Ultima getting punched in the face. Absolutely perfect.

The story was good, but WHY did they almost never let characters talk to each other about something else than politics? We saw so few of Joshua and Clive actually interacting with other apart from „Lets go there!“ „Lets do this!“ that I felt something was lacking. It wasnt bad, but its the result of sacrificing everything for action.

And this was Destiny, not FF. This was not a RPG. You had some skills you received, like you do in Destiny, Diablo etc. but what was there to collect? What was the level for? Why did I need to buy a weapon if there is always only one you can buy because the rest is simply worse? Where was my party? Why did I need gil? Throughout the WHOLE GAME – and I completey 100%! – I needed 12! potions. Nothing more. They appearantly realized you didnt need your money for anything, so songs cost 40.000 Gil? Wtf? That was simply really really bad. 

Then the „mission accomplished!“ even in the main quest – that was jarring. That too was really not FF. Dont get me wrong, I am not against innovations, but they completely changed the genre here. And sadly sacrificed parts of the story to be all about action.

if you paid attention to the ending Jill crying all night then sunrise she stopped and smiled then black screen and Clive says : “tus our Journey end”, remind me of Clive and Jill in the flower scene “no matter how dark the night dawn will come and that you will come for me Clive” and near the end “i will come back, i promise, i love you”.
the game theme song is about Jill wish “Clive returning to her”, also the book in the post credit by “joshua rosfield” at first you think that joshua made it but i can say it could be that Clive wrote it and used Joshua name to honour his memory there is a quest with Hippocrates where Clive say : “i may start writing after the sword”.., also maybe Clive and Jill had a son and named him Joshua and he who wrote the book about his father…

I really think that it was Clive who survived at the end & took Joshua’s name to write his story (just like how he took Cid’s name).
If you pay attention to all of the side quest before setting off to the Origin, the game pretty much hinting that Clive will live as an Author, come back to Jill at sunrise, & the voice narrating at the end “and thus how our journey end” was none other than Clive.

The ultimate reused asset final boss. We got powers being reused to throw around alongside the boss. The bosses name being reused in almost every single ff game. A literal reskin blue ifrit (Blue Smelter Demon) with one wing at a point for some sephiroth. And a friendship triumphs all speech. One of THE most boring final bosses and endings.

Not a fan of the ending, zero reason for Clive to die. Especially after it being stated using that power has no effect or consequence on his body. Sloppy, they just wanted to kill him to follow suit if every Other game, show or movie these days where happy endings aren’t a thing anymore

Man what’s wrong with some of you? this was such a fun game and the setpiece bosses actually felt epic but you can’t stop complaining about how boring you thought the combat was which just sounds like you didn’t play it cause the combat was super fun. can you button mash through a lot of it if you really want to? yes. can you engage with the combat and make sick combos and kill things faster and better? yes. maybe you thought the boss fights were long and boring cause you weren’t engaging with the combat enough to end the fights quickly

Loved the game alot but I’m tired of having my heart broken every single time i finish a title! Seeing Jill at the end broke my heart once more 😢 and i wish i had a girl like her 😂 ain’t that a dream 😅

The game was horribly boring and bad, but at least it managed to have a final fight that felt good, something the whole series had struggled with.

Google says there is no secret ending in this game. Is the youtube video wrong or google? And if there is one, how does one acquire the extra ending?

i finished this game two days ago and the ending truly made me cry with sorrowful tears and a true connection with the characters and beautiful sights the best comrades you can ask (Cid,Gav,Torgal) for and unforgettable music FFXVI you will be in my heart with FFXV and Kingdom Hearts what a wonderful journey i was lucky to partake in 😭

41:35 for a character who was only around for really a short space of time he left a mark that “Go on, lad!” from Cid bought such a smile to my face

That last boss could be a good challenge for a Malenia marathon. :p

This is not my type of game. Never cared for FF games, never liked them. But that last boss seems to have good vibe for a true hard battle if the Dev mod it as a spar training in a boss battle mode.

I like all the small dialogue and voice touches they did with Ultima. For the whole game he was speaking almost robotically. Calm, collected, as if nothing could touch him. Then as the fight drags on, he starts losing that composure as he realizes he’s less and less in control of the situation. Even when he’s talking about “Logos” you can see his movement in that cutscene is somewhat janky as his voice slowly starts losing it’s robotic-likeness. He, in his desperation starts showing more and more through his movement and voicework that he isn’t untouchable, he isn’t infallible and that no matter how much he tries to prop himself up, he’s not in control of what’s going on. In short, he ends up showing that he and the “Humans” he looks down on are very much the same just from the changes in speech and word choice.

There is no secret ending. Everyone gets it. Game needs better ending. Terrible ending ruins a near perfect game. 2 final fantasy games with bad endings for no reason.

So glad I watched this game in stead of playing it. 5/10 game for sure.

Main story, side quests, characters, npcs, and the ending. All these are absolutely superb. Absolutely the best story I´ve ever played, the ending was the icing on the cake. While sad and brutal, its pure poetry. I´m afraid I may never play or watch a story this good again.

Anyone get major FF8 Sorceress vibes from Ultima? Mainly his 2nd form when he absorbs all of the Ultima’s. Face paint, godly space mage, crown/headpieces. Just feels like Ultimecia to me in a way.

The final phase kinda reminds me of FFXIV final bosses in a sense, mainly with how the boss starts all calm and composed with a constant “holier than thou” attitude against you, but halfway through the fight when its clear that you’re gaining the upper hand it breaks character and grows increasingly more desperate and reckless with its attacks.

The final fantasy series just got worse,i mean the final boss and the story kinda stinks,there is nothing epic in here just like the previous installements,what they’re gonna make of next, Nomura and his company!

Loved the game, but I’m going to be honest the ending just confused the hell out of me, not to mention Clive’s fate left me very unfulfilled. I wanted him and Jill to reunite so badly my stomach was in nots when I saw what happened to him. I was instantly reminded of Noctis’s sacrifice at the end of XV and thought ‘Another main protagonist sacrifice? Seriously?’ That and they left the whole Joshua was revived kind of ambiguous. In a case like this, DLC to clarify is highly desired, IMO.

I think Joshua is alive. If he’s not, there wont be a book with his name.

Easily the best final boss the series has had in decades. No guaranteed win final phase, loads of forms with unique designs and musical arrangements of rhe Ultima thematic material, absurd amounts of spectacle and use of all the game’s mechanics. Might be my new favourite final boss in all of games.

Sorry, but Noctis summoning every King of the Line at once on Arden, with Somnus blasting, it literally obliterates this entire ending. This game does not know if it is somekind of bizzare mix of Game of Thrones and Prometheus or wtf it is, but it is absolutely not a FF. Absolute identity crisis. And the characters are not even memorable. Worst final boss since Kuja, even worse. Absolutely worst narrative in any FF, too. Nomura, FF can only be saved by Final Fantasy VERSUS XIII, now. Only the return of The VERSUS Epic can salvage the remnants of this dead series, killed by Tabata with XV. And this….this game doesn’t even know what it is. I say this as a SQU/RE fan since FFI.

This game is a cross fusion of Final fantasy creatures X Devil may cry because the main character is the power of Eikon creature which I never seen before usually most final fantasy summon but to become as those is crazy but main obtain all them by gain their power just Dante use the other demon power to become his Devil arms weapons this game is worth to play who ever is a Final fantasy fan

The amount of Xenoblade 3 references in this game man hahaha. Architect, Origin, Ark, Logos jesus hahahaha. Even Ultima and his motives are exactly like Alpha. Clive is top 6 of the strongest ff protagonist in the series, he would get on 4th but in 2nd,3rd,5th and 6th it belongs to onion knight,bartz,lightning and noctis but idk which order would be for they. If you want to include the xiv wol then he would get 2nd, clive on 5th and so on

I love how creepy Ultima is. It’s very subtle, because even though he looks human, those weird round eyes without eyelids and weird mouth without lips. Truly something uncanny about his whole looks overall. I’ve also seen some similarities design-wise to Zodiark (ff12), Safer Sephiroth and Jenova. Something interesting was the director’s choice for the final boss theme songs: they seem to be more about the main character and his emotions than the enemy itself, which is what we usually get in Final Fantasy games. Now, the plot… Does anybody else feels like this is still Fabula Nova Crystallis we’re talking about? Ultima is basically Bhunivelze from Lightning Returns.

This is not secret but true ending…a lot of players already established it. And my words are still true..Odin had no chance against Bahamut if there was 1 on 1 between them. Thus a beautiful thing to notice is, in every Ultima related fight Bahamut powers does more damage than Odin’s. Which is a thing to applause for the Creators presence of mind as Odin was a deep believer of Ultima, thus he couldn’t do much damage to his deity whereas Bahamut was motivated to finish the dark shadow/Ultima. Amazing presence of mind by Creators. Also if guys ever notice whenever Clive do a long range damage to enemies through Phoenix’s fire, Jill hide herself in ice coverage to protect herself. This so damn good and well thought.
