Only saying this because they are the same franchise but FF 14 Endwalker Story and FF 16 story has very similar plot lines so it’s very hard not to compare the two. Cinematically 16 is unbeatable but story and execution wise 14 is just unmatched. The sacrifice and inspirational speeches in 16 are great but really seem so surface level. 14 just truly has FFs most amazing storytelling so imagining 14 with 16s visuals…. Oof one can dream

Ultima is possibly the creepiest and scariest looking character I’ve ever seen. Like whoever thought of its design I applaud them but by god they must have some crazy nightmares to make up something like that 😂

Honestly, it felt good doing this fight twice over, both in Action-Focused and Final Fantasy Modes. The first run, I had gotten the Ouroboros Gear with the Gotterdämmerung and I kicked the hell out of Ultimalius’ ass. Second time, ran through with the Omega Weapon Reforged and Fallen Gear, Invictus as the cosmetic weapon because it suits Clive to a fuckin’ T and I thrashed him so badly. Megaflare and Diamond Dust were my saviors in this fight and I would gladly do that shit as many times as it took.

i expected something different from the game regarding ultima and clive, when ultima talked about human will, saying he wanted clives body but clives free will stopped it i was excited at what that could mean. then, a couple hours before the final boss ultima said some things that pretty much seemed like he was ready to destroy clive mentally in preperation for claiming his body. i say this because i expected ultima to shatter clives mind or at least attempt to- to kill everyone clive holds dear. when ultima took clive into that weird “dimension” the one that had cid and mid talking, jill and her youngerself along with josh and his father, i thought it was the beggining of the end starting with ultima killing clives ego, shattering it. i know what i *wished* would happen through my own interpretation is what made me dissapointed but entertain me a little, would that not be cool?!? and obv i knew clive wouldnt give his body up to ultima even if his ego was gone, he would keep on fighting just like he told josh before they left for the final battle

Fun fact the 999999 punch is called the final fantasy and used in 2 bosses in my school vr game first is Ifrit (obviously) and second is Goalius after his PSI abilities were overcloacked and the only playable time its due is in a Quick Time Event where Goalius and Gundam Exia repair iv punch each other hard and theres even detail of it where for Goalius he loses a eye and some of his teeth while Exia loses its Gn Tau Drive which is its power source

there’s something I dont get when I watch someone else fight…. every time I do a precision dodge, clive doesnt slide against the ground, but when I watch someone else do it, he always does… regardless of if they do a counter or not… I wonder what I am doing differently, since I play without any assist accessories.

this game is epic. It’s definitely what playstation fans want. I think I’d skip it past watching it online, I’m not a fan of it being an action rpg as opposed to strategy and not in a good way. It leans American rpg, qte on rails, rather than souls like. Ff15 had the wait mode that made it a much more engaging experience. The story from what I have seen though is fairly compelling. I hope 17 goes back to a more turn based approach or something other than god of war / asuras wrath for combat.

I’m 40yrs old and have played and been a fan of the series for as long as it has existed…..this fight is a MASTERPIECE OF ITS OWN!!!! I was feeling all the feelings and emotions!!! Visually stunning!!!! Villains are supposed to look scary and they delivered with this one. I’m so happy that Im alive to witness this epic game!!!! Hopefully it goes for game of the year!

When i saw people worshiping this game, i would’ve thought the final battle to be more than 90% cutscenes, an Eikon battle where you keep doing the same moves over and over while the boss is a health sponge and a few quick time events.

Anyone else feels like Joshua lived at the end? Not pointing at the book, but it seems like Clive gave back his phoenix powers that Joshua bestowed unto him. His chest wound is visibly gone right after. And fuck me, the entire flashback, back to when they were kids hits so damn hard. Protecting Joshua is and always was Clive’s purpose that he himself sworn to do. To see him hurt to the point of almost fatality, twice, with the first being by his own hand, must’ve hurt him so damn much.

Honestly this game doesnt really have the vibes of a real final fantasy franchise. But its not a bad game if you really like the 1st 3 games ived mention. It doesnt have the “Replayable Urge” to play it again. Really missed the classic Hironobu Sakaguchis FFs. Will wait for FF7 rebirth and the rumored FF9 remake.

As much fun as the Final Fantasy games are (and other murder god storys) it bugs me a little bit when the main villains go “I have unlimited power and am the creator of you and your world; but screw snapping my fingers and just ending you. Want to get up close and personal with fists and swords?”

The final stage is similiar to final boss ff6 Kefka.

Back when I was a teenager I played a ff based rpg where we players could roleplay a summon. I picked Ifrit because of ff8 and 10. Seeing this made me remind of every word i used to describe my actions during the roleplay and it’s awesome.
