So…that new “combat system” will be like a Deep Dungeon from FFXIV kind of thing? So glad it is completely optional and not shoehorned into the DLC’s progression.
Not that l had high hopes to play as Jill, Cid or Dorian anyway…l mean, to each their own, l just think it would have been cooler to capitalize on the action focus the game already had, than to diversify efforts into trying to make it more RPG-like.
Still looking forward to the cool fights and new Leviathan abilities though, so that’s great
They said they wouldn’t change or adjust the Ultima battle that is already in the main game but they didn’t specify that they would add another phase to the Ultima battle. 😅
PC PC PC PC PC PC PC!!!!! Can’t wait!!!! But ofc… I”ll eat the DLC UP on the PS5 before that =)))
This might be the ugliest version of Leviathan across every single FF game, old and new, Yoshida is pissing me off. First he drives XIV into the dirt gameplay wise, now this? C’mon dude, what the fuck.
Hyped for the PC release
Meh, this is why I hate DLC. I spent 77 hours on this game and got to know it pretty well, but it’s been almost a year since and you’re expected to just jump right in and play as if you remember all the controls and abilities. How am I supposed to beat this allegedly super boss when I don’t even remember the controls? The only way is to spend yet more time to brush up on all the Eikon skills before playing this. Which, I have absolutely no desire to. I’m 35 fucking years old, I don’t have the time to just go back to old games as I did when I was a teenager. I move on to new experiences and new games. This would’ve been 10000% better if they had included it in the main game and just have it be part of the main experience. It’s FF15 all over again. Kudos to those who are just waiting patiently to jump back into this game (or who, for some reason, never stopped playing) but I got a shit load of backlog games I want to play that replaying this is the least of my interests.
They should really do a 40fps mode for people with 120hz displays, like some Sony games such as Ratchet and Clank. It’s not as high as 60fps, but it feels a lot better than 30, more than you’d expect for only 10 extra frames. The resolution will also be closer to quality mode too.
Rebirth should have this too.
Played this game so much it almost feels like I’m being unfaithful playing other RPGs.. This new release will give me the excuse to go back!
At some point I would love a zodiac age style rerelease where they retool the battle system to add a bit more strategy. More status effects, more elemental weaknesses, maybe the ability to swap Summon load outs on the fly, so you can better match up to the enemies your fighting against.
Before rebirth came out, enjoyed ff16 because ff15 was such a incomplete package on release. Now after playing rebirth and how the team did town and map, really wished ff16 took more effort on building an actual town.
well atleast Yoshida’s being honest with the answer whether or not the performance’s gonna be fixed and yes his answer make sense 100% , with that being said , Only those who didn’t know anything or simply an idiot that complaint as if making games are as easy as they thought .. ALSO do take notes that Yoshi-P and the Team tested this game on HIGH END PC , if you didn’t meet your expectation on your mid-specs PC that’s on you.. you need to be slapped with reality check
The ending was the only halfway decent part of the story, so I won’t be shocked if they change it to “AND EVERYONE LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER uWu”
So is this really going multiplatform or what ?
6:55 “Some people are still going to complain so we won’t do it”
and that’s a reason not to improve your work?
I mean, they can do whatever but thats a weird logic. Let’s get it into reallife scenario where you are kinda chubby and people tell you you could lose some weight while others say you look ok (notice, just “ok”, not “great”) so you say “Eh, people will find something to complain about me even if I lose weight, so I won’t”. Ridiculous.
FF16 never felt choppy or slow to me, so I think I’ll be in the camp that thinks the code update is enough.
Overall I have to say Rising Tide sounds like a top tier final bit of content to the game that unfortunately couldn’t be fit into the original release. I’m really happy. If I have one wish, its that the endgame changes make the story feel a bit more triumphant at the end and gives Clive and Co. the proper send off they deserve.
It sounds like they always wanted all of these elements in the game but had to wait for sales before they could get the budget approved on adding it in. Another w from Yoshi P, he seems to really care about 16 and the gamers who loved it.
If there is not an expanded or alternate ending we riot.
They need to implement cross-platform saves. I prefer PC but play on PS5 just because I can’t wait long enough for the PC version to come out. If there was some way to bring my save over from PS5 I would also buy the PC version for NG+. Some games you can do this. Ubisoft does it for Assassins Creed Valhalla.
Expanded DLC isn’t going to fix the ending.
Hope for more Jill,i have a dream that one day we get to play as Jill in the epilogue for the game
I took off of work April 18th and 19th just for The Rising Tide. In the meantime, I will be retrieving The Pull of Darkness +1 from defeating Odin’s Chronolith Trial in Final Fantasy Mode.
Well… looks like I’ll end up playing the game on hard mode at some point after I know all the DLC and updates have been released. I thought the game was a great experience for the story and the combat was pretty fun but I sure wish they would’ve actually made it challenging for the first playthrough. I almost never go back to games I’ve already completed because I just don’t have the time.
Im happy to see such positive comments about this game. This was a good game with a great story and a lot of content it did not deserve the hate it got
I haven’t played FFXVI yet but I’M VERY EXCCITED for the PC version! I cannot wait! The game looks amazing to be honest!
People just want a different ending
Now Clive won’t just kill god he will become god
I mean i think the fight againt odin and ultima are really good but there always not aprecciete enough because people comparing what came before. Does anyone think similar?
Awesome game. Played it 2x and will play again probably at the end of the year
This is the most lit FF for me. Never thought boss battles will be so over the top in a final fantasy❤❤❤
lmao my ass it was cut to be added as paid dlc i mean hell there are parts of the game that just dont make sense
This game was a huge disappointment for me. I enjoyed the combat bit didn’t love it, the main plot had me hook for a while bit then became a bit stale towards the final 3rd of the game. I didn’t like any side character except for torgal and Jill. The game ran like ass to the point that the frame rate was giving me headaches. I didn’t like that you couldn’t control other characters in battle, and I hated the ending. I just wanted a happy ending for my boy Clive after all the bs he went thu, but no we can’t have that cuz it’s not artistic enough or some bullshit. Smh pass on this dlc.
We could discover that after levaitan, clave maybe crash ultima and become the final ultima boss against jashua😢😢
That will save the current ending that jashua write book and live
I believe the Infos about Performance mode isnt entirely right, since the ps5 pro is already around the corner square enix should really bring an updated version for it that fixes it, same for ff7 Rebirth btw
But honestly i still believe giving the games a 45 FPS Mode would also be still a very good solution…
Jill still not playable 😢
More garbage, as expected.
Thank you Square enix for FF 7 Rebirth But my love For FF16 it’s deeper still has my Heart
It’s an FF version of Asuras Wrath with better conbat
Can we accept a game with Final Fantasy level graphics CANNOT run at 60 on a console? How many games in a row must be say the performance mode doesn’t work… it just doesn’t meet YOUR standard, because your standard isn’t possible. Final fantasy games are state of the art. 60 FPS is for games running easily on a console, not a game pushing the console to its limits. You’ve been demanding 60 for two console generations and neither are advanced enough. PS6 maybe. But 5 is NOT a 60FPS machine. The performance mode isn’t broken, your expectations are.
Final Fantasy 16 was disappointing , not gonna lie. A spectacle without depth.
Unfortunately people expecting a performance patch for FF16 will continue to be disappointed. The only real performance related patch was the launch patch, over 9 months ago, which did nothing. Why? Because what many aren’t realizing is that the ray traced graphics/lighting is essentially baked in to how the game was made and currently runs. This means it cannot simply be removed or replaced. This is why they resort to trying to get battles to run at 60 fps. They essentially remove or drastically reduce details/NPCs/enemies in the overworld since you won’t notice as much in a fight, and then drop the resolution to as low as it can go (720p). The only real solution would have been to make ray tracing optional or a graphics mode only feature, while utilizing a less intensive method for performance mode. Unfortunately they did not build in ray tracing as an option so they cannot remove it, which means having any meaningful performance bump is likely not going to happen.
I don’t think it’s going to be massive but I do hope it comes to PC… like now come on over, we’re ready for ya
Man, I wish I could enjoy FF16. It has enjoyable things in it, but overall, I couldn’t keep playing after the time-skip. The combat was pretty good, and the story was kinda interesting, but the rest of the design was just mediocre at best.
eikon vs eikon is really not that great, since ifrit moves like a drunk and flying is kinda awkward just imagining this would be another pain in the ass medal to get in ff mode
I don’t mind about the framerates it still runs really good
I have an OLED TV, and I had zero issues with the 30 FPS in this game on ps5. It ran extremely smooth. Some 30 FPS games destroy my eyes on an OLED TV. But some games are so smooth. I don’t even notice the difference. Final Fantasy 16 was one that was so smooth I did not mind playing in 30 FPS at all.
@nightskyprince I hope you see this but think of this! FF 7 combat style but with controllable summons similar to how Ifrit is in XVI. The future looks good right?!?!?
I have played through the game 3 times, when this dlc comes out it’ll be 4 times.
The boss fight here is one of the best i have seen since God of war older games
I don’t get it how those lil quick time events were more expensive than any other thing going on in the game. It’s not like they were that special. They just took up more screen imo. If you ask me they cut the budget for the fighting mechanics lol you can go through the whole game doing the charge and magic combo. Still a good game tho
This may be an unpopular opinion but the leviathan fight in XV was probably the best boss fight in that game aside from Ardyn
That moment you realized you never finished ff16….
So its recent news prove more what I had being seeing since Rebirth’s release. SE seem to had no trust on FFXVI since the get go. They most likely prefer to give most of its budget to the FF7 trilogy, CBU1, than the new entry XVI and it shows. It was a matter of risk/reward tactic, specialy after the failure of FFXV and on how much wasted time and money that game had. They put all their eggs on a franchise is already known worldwide and most popular, that it already has many other related FF7 games, from where they knew they would recieve a lot of guaranteed income, than on tring a new FF alltogheter.
Can someone tell me if this DLC is supposed to be before the end of the game? Is it Canon?
Meanwhile the trailer makes the fight vs Leviathan look kinda easy like the previous ones. This is coming from a Devil May Cry/Bayonetta veteran though. The entire game wasn’t that hard at all.
Love the background music – Lost Oddessey is very under rated!
I am 100% sure gona buy this game on PC version! The thing that absolutely makes me happy is having Jill in my party. I LOVE HER!!
🛌zzz
I just love how Yoshi P just flat out says it’s not going to be possible to please everyone, so tough beans.
No, he didn’t say these last few words. However, by stating that there won’t be a possibility of a 60 FPS patch, he basically is in a professionally and friendly way saying tough beans.
Man as time passes the more this game blurs into the background and kinda gets forgotten for me. It’s a shame I was so excited for it but it just ended up feeling so hollow to me. A lot of flash but not a lot substance in the gameplay. Story was good but I thought the first half was way stronger than the second half. It had its moments but it didn’t stick with me. Which is kinda sad.
Sounds like they just didn’t want to work upon improving the performance mode on PS5, that’s laziness through and through!
After seeing what performance mode on Rebirth looks like, I’m fine with XVI having a locked 60fps in the battle only. The visual differences is night and day.
Love Yoshi P, but I’m calling cap on the Leviathan fight being pulled because of initial scoping. If they wanted it from the beginning it would’ve been in there. Creative Business Unit 3 has such a great reputation they could’ve gotten the budget for it. It was a business decision from the jump to make Leviathan a DLC. Probably not Yoshi-P’s decision, but he’s of course not going to come out and say “I was told by executives we had to make something a piece of additional paid content so we chose leviathan”
Basically, they’ve pretty much optimized as much as they could for the ps5. I have a feeling pc players with old cpu are gonna struggle running this game.
I still enjoyed FF16! And I loved the first DLC! Really looking forward to everything in DLC 2! And there’s MORE to come? Hell yeah! I also think DLC 2 will change up the ending a bit. They’re obviously just being quite about it and not want to spoil too much. I appreciate that!
The Ultima fight felt like it was more spectacle than ANY fight in the game at least his final fight. My guy created a universe and we saw it collapse. With a black whole in the background. But if you mean the Barnabas and the first time you fight Ultima. Yes both of those fights were very underwhelming compared to Titan and Bahamut.
16 was all right for me. I preferred 15 with Noctis and his chocobros. Mostly because of the brain dead combat, annoying fetch quests, and undeveloped main cast and juggling too many concepts without full closure of any of them🤷♀️
Looking back at this footage, FF16 really was a crazy vision of a game… I suspect my second playthrough will be even more enjoyable than the first (mostly powered through it hastily to avoid spoilers in that intense time)… Clive Rosfield, see you again soon my passionate yelling friend :’)
16 blows even more ass than 15, a feat I never thought possible.
The eikon fights were so expensive. Sad to see they wasted the money. The fights were very boring imo.
I think it’s a title you either love or hate.. & that’s ok
Ratchet and Clank have more details yet can reach 60 fps, sounds like it is just bad optimisation or engine weakness for ff16…
I just could not get excited with 16. Its strongest appeal are the spectacle fights, great voice acting and mostly easy to follow narrative, and I really don’t have to play the game to enjoy those. It sucks to feel this way after being hyped that this was the team behind FF14.
It’s the ultimate Final Fantasy game
This makes me want to play FF16 again.
OH no more XVI Side quests…. I’m sorry after Rebirth’s side quests its just not fair lol. And I know the boss fights were crazy but like… I still like the Valkyrie and Ragnarok super bosses more just from a gameplay perspective. The Boss Fights were merely all spectacle and not much skill involved. It was a much better done FF XV Astral fights. Bahamut and Odin were about the only good gameplay ones. I hope CBU3’s next game is their Rebirth and XVI was their VII Remake.
Why does 60 fps matter so much in a single player game?
I love that they went all out with their budget on the Eikon fights, it shows. They really took risks with their approach and didn’t just copy paste the old games. Glad for CBU3 that they get to make the final one, I can‘t wait to get my hands on the DLC.
the performance patch thing is definitely the results of people defending the game saying the framerate is stable. If people want a perfect performance mode 60fps stop defending the game let the devs know cos they think performance mode below 60fps is ok in 2024? Like no. Also i have said in one of your streams that we were robbed of the ifrit vs odin eikon boss fights, they can still add it back and treat it like a royal edition of the game.
need that pc port asap – love that this is a character action game
It’s a joke this game can’t run at 60fps. it’s just poorly optimised, and there just giving excuses. Somehow rendering grass in an open empty field is to much for a PS5 that’s absolutely BS, they talk about the game like its the most graphically demanding game ever when it’s visuals are ok at best, blurry foliage combined with bad FSR1 artifacting in tight linear environments with a small draw distance, it’s a fantastic game being held back by bad optimization and blurry visuals
It’s difficult to get excited about FFXVI DLC when I have been loving FFVIIRebirth. Its like SquareEnix is competing with themselves. (First world problems, oh the burden).
Great combat. Poor performance.
A good fight is a good fight. Doesn’t have to be budget draining…
I love the entire final fantasy franchise I can play any of the titles and have a great time 😊
They spent a lot of money on something that didn’t improve the game in any way. The Eikon fights did not improve the lackluster story and the overall blandness of the world of Valesthia. I’m happy for those that enjoyed the game but I seriously hope they never make another one like it.
I thought the game was amazing, the video is also really great. So much negativity around the franchise’s fanbases, which is a real shame cuz I am very picky and XVI was one of my favorite video games in years. Not only did I enjoy the modifications to the combat system and how well written the storyline was, but it’s one of a FEW games (especially on the ps5) that I genuinely did not feel was rushed or left incomplete. I’m playing Rebirth currently, and between the long array of minigames (90% could have been both designed and explained better), and so many combat-based changes (again, little explanation), INCLUDING those vague assessed descriptions? Rebirth is just one of those things you take with a grain of salt I guess.
The Night sky Prince looks like red xii
I’m still holding on playing this game on tell its get released on pc :_)
This game sucked
6:07 Of course you can please everyone! Just make a perfect 60FPS. lol
Some players not caring about a problem doesn’t mean it can’t be improved, even for them.
The medium relies on fluidity of motion, yet devs don’t care about it. This is unthinkable about movies.
I’d buy Final Fantasy XVI sixteen more times if it got 16 times the detail on PC.
The PC version will have better graphical fidelity and better performance… as well as mods for Thomas the Tank Engine and nudity, because that’s what always happens.
Wish it was a DLC that turned ff16 into a RPG
I honestly hope Clive is alive, maybe just disabled or something cause Jill deserves happiness with her love
I liked the game at the end of the day, but definitely am upset in how some aspects of it came out (fps issues, lack of rpg elements, shallow map exploration incentives, not many towns to actually explore as i thought there would be, repetitive battle system). My hopes are they revisit some of these issues for the pc release!
Though I liked the spectacles of the other battles, Odin was probably my favourite out of them all. Not only was Odin an absolute beast in the game but the synergy w/ Barnabas was fantastic. The 1v1 with him literally parrying your attacks made it like an actual duel. Having said all that, I can completely understand (and appreciate) that others preferred the over top battles in comparison.
Remember when Yoshi P said FFXVI would be the first “complete Final Fantasy on release day” that theree been for decades. Its feeling more like an FFXV job by the day. I think with all the DLC and updates they may aswell just release an FFXVI Royale edition. Looking forward to jumping back on when everything is finished.
If you read between the lines from many interviews it seems that budget constrained them from doing all the things they wished to do. Most likely went over budget (way over). This is referring to NSPs question on why they didn’t implement kairos sooner and other things like that.
As an ff7 – 10 Fan this game was… okay for me.
The Problem with those DLC‘s is that I dont like it when they add Story Content to a Story where I already know how it ends
I think demos should the expansion pack for games like these. Games that develop new endings as they add new updates and expansions to the game, they should have multiple demos leading to the end of the expansion, not the main story.
If the main story is branching out with new endings per expansions, the expansions are the filler and demos, not the full game.
Give me playable party members, and I’ll buy this game. Otherwise, FF16 is as dead as 15 to me. The black sheeps of the series imo.
FFXVI is still the best Modern Final Fantasy game. The PC version will be made even better with mods.
I hope that whatever changes with the ending it isn’t super depressing. If it’s like “Clive actually survived but he can never see Jill ever again because he’s in another dimension” or something like that I’ll just think what was the point in adding this?
like sky prince, previous video, we wanted to see more of Jill’s storyline. we may see a better performance in PS5 pro or PS6. we are make a ton of MODS for FF16 and FF7Rebirth PC. both games were censored. SE will sell more PC version than PS5 version.
I want more dammit
plenty of threads they left open on purpose and I doubt they’ll touch up on now in The Rising Tide
Like that organization from the end of the house of the undying questline where the character promised to return (we willl likely never hear from him again)
at least this one didn’t left me broken like XV with those very much needed Luna Aranea and Noctis DLCs getting canceled but damm Square is truly not one to care for ongoing unfinished plot elements when they want to wrap a project
This fps controvesy surroinding the game became an unhealthy obssecion. We have 60 fps on battle, perood. Thats good. The fight is what matters, deal with it
It’s also such a cop out They design the game for PS5 exclusively They could have designed the game to be a rock solid 60 frames per second at all times They chose not to because they felt like their vision was more important than a stable frame rate
I will be very angry if they put another better ending behind a dlc.
I’m just extremely disappointed in 16 because they never fixed performance mode like they said they would and the combat is just unbelievably boring and button mashing
This gives me exactly zero faith that the story aspect of this DLC is going to be satisfying. They said that the basic idea of the story was set in stone 8 years ago and the only reason Leviathan isn’t in the main game was due to budget and schedule restraints. So they had an idea, then retconned part of that idea out of the main story, and are now un-retconning it back in? That is the definition of a nightmare to try to justify, especially because the main story won’t change at all since this is a DLC, not a patch to the original. I will be majorly impressed if they manage to come up with an even half-way convincing in-universe reason for Ultima not giving a fuck about Leviathan, among many many other things.
I’m hyped as fuck about more combat challenges though, because the last DLC was amazing, especially that final boss.
So the Bahamut boss fight nearly drained their budget??
Hot damn D8
Not looking forward to re-learning the game on harder content 10 months post release (doing both DLC at once). DLC that adds the real endgame is always annoying in this aspect, adds an hour or so of trying to remember the gameplay. Other than that, sounds good.
I wish Square Enix would implement cross save functionality for their PC ports like others have. I guess the other option is the PS5 Pro would be able to do the performance mode at 60 if it’s GPU limited and not CPU limited, but I know he can’t talk about that.
Gonna open up a salt mine in these comments lol. I’ll make a mint.
Am I the only one that is upset that this is the final update for FF16? That means the possibility of getting playable Jill is like, 0%.
Still one of the best games ever
Either answer questions about what happened with the ending or give us a new, more conclusive ending. That is all I really want out of this. None of this ambiguous nonsense. If I get nothing else, just give some clarification on the ending.
That said I am looking forward to Rising Tide. Looks like this is going to be a good time.
Good!
I swear you got nothing but hate watchers that don’t play ff
I like ff16 enough to enjoy extra content 😂 I’ll get back to this game sometime soon !
Thank you for keeping us in the loop! I love hoe Yoshi-P answered the questions, it makes me look forward while knowing what to expect! Thank you NSP!❤🤩🙌🏽
Ff16 is such a flop game and ultimately killed FF in general
Thanks Yoshi P
Will these patches finally add rpg elements and a good ending in it?
“Rising Tide” more like “Riding Clive” amirite….
