When will Yoshi P shut up and get removed from SE? He’s the worst thing that happened to the franchise, by far.

He answers so thoroughly I can feel his respect to the host that he doesn’t try to simplify in laymen terms but a more deeper analysis on his vision for FF16 and the process to get there.

Interesting interview with Yoshida san I see “Special thanks: Shuhei Yoshida” a lot in game credits it’s nice to put a face to the name too.

The PS5 shortage was a hard time, but I want you to know that PS4 with games like FFXIV, Monster Hunter World, Death Stranding and Bloodborne kept me entertained during covid times.

I wish more people would talk with the director Hiroshi Takai. Isn’t he more responsible for the game’s direction than the producer? Big fan of Yoshi P, but FFXIV’s redemption arc happened while he was director, not producer, so I figure the director would be pretty important for the media to interview more.

Thanks to Shu’s tweet I discovered these talks. Thanks AIAS for setting this up, you got a new follower.. It’s always very interesting to hear this type of discussions about how games are made, the approaches each creator takes, the problems they face or how they tackle different issues, what their goals were, etc. Lovely talk between 2 people I really admire. Thanks Yoshi-P and CBU III for the work done in XVI, it was a great experience. Looking forward for what they cook next.

I agree that every FF is different and need to be a challenge in terms of design, but I don’t think it’s a great idea to throw mothership entry of FF (which is a complex task to start with anyway) to bunch of newbies. It’s so important to many people around the world and we are waiting so many years for the release, that a chance of dissapointment should be eliminated at least with experienced team. Let the new guys try and error in a new IP or some spin-off if they want so much to be a part of the franchise asap.

Don’t rush it with decisions, we already waiting (still) for Persona 6 from the team of young devs. It’s in development for 8 YEARS, so, like many games that was in a long dev hell, this have a high chance to be a disaster. I’ll be shocked if the game actually be really good. We don’t even have any concrete info about the game. It’s kinda understandle, they need to meet very high expectations layed out by the P4 and P5.

That was awesome! I love FF16 so much. It’s a beautiful world, great story and has many memorable moments. For the next FF game I’d like to see an art direction like Final Fantasy 8 again, which had a modern world with a FF style!

30:05 There are nearly 30 million people that bought Baldur’s Gate 3 who are probably more likely to play a turn-based Final Fantasy than a bunch of Call of Duty and Grand Theft Auto fans are to play an action Final Fantasy

I love Final Fantasy XVI. I thought it was incredibly well done. It’s honestly one of my new top favorites in the franchise, alongside Final Fantasy VII, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VI, Final Fantasy XIII, and Final Fantasy IX. Final Fantasy XVI is amazing! Thank you, Creative Business Unit 3, for all of your hard work, and for creating such an incredible new entry in the Final Fantasy franchise!

I know that nothing has been officially decided yet, as was said in this video, but I really do think that Creative Business Unit 3 would be the perfect fit for making Final Fantasy XVII as well! With all the experience and everything they’ve learned from developing Final Fantasy XVI, I think it would be extremely beneficial for them to continue building on that experience for the next mainline Final Fantasy as well.

I know Yoshi P says that a younger director might be a good idea, and I certainly trust that Square Enix will make the best decision they can when it comes to the team developing the next Final Fantasy, but I cannot express enough how great it would be to have Creative Business Unit 3 continue with what they’ve experienced and learned, and build upon that for Final Fantasy XVII.

And I think Creative Business Unit 3 is very in touch with the younger generation too! There’s no need to worry on that end. They did an incredible job creating Final Fantasy XVI, and many people (myself included) absolutely loved it! Nothing pleases everyone, but Final Fantasy XVI received a lot of praise from what I’ve seen. Sure, there’s a few people who didn’t like it, but that’s the same for anything. I’ve seen a lot of praise from longtime fans and quite a few people who played this as their very first Final Fantasy absolutely loved it too!

No matter what happens, though, I am thankful to Creative Business Unit 3 for all of their hard work and for creating Final Fantasy XVI. Thank you so much for this amazing experience!

Yoshi P brought too many MMO sensibilities to XVI. Everyone agrees that party members need to return, and the next FF doesn’t need to be copying this dark and gritty tone of GoT. It’s a good game but FF needs another director for the next game.

I really like the model where they have:
    1. Mainline titles.
    2. Spinoff titles like Stranger of Paradise, which allowed them to explore other gameplay (souls-like, etc).
    3. MMORPG (FF14)
    4. FF7 Remake franchise.
Really allows them to fully take advantage of the FF franchise and offer players different gameplay options.
Personally as a character action game fan I felt really spoiled by both FF16 and Stranger of Paradise.
Though I understand if they go back to turn based for FF17.

I really would love another Final Fantasy from Naoki Yoshida. I just hope he listens to the fans and gives players full control of the party, I would have had so much more fun in ff16 if Jill was a playable character. Controlling the whole party feels like the core of final fantasy to me. Other than that it was amazing and the best writing in any FF game even if gameplay fell short. Thank you Creative Business Unit III for making it happen!
