I think the trumpets are a bit too prominent in the first half, but beside that it’s absolutely incredible.

It’s amazing how many people put this amount of quality work. Every single FF serie is awesome as it always involved authentic and quality work, yet others fail to see it by just making bad comments on the game and they call themselves streamer or v/bloggers.

If you played XIV but not XVI, the main melody should be familiar as well – this piece used the leitmotif of “fate” from XIV (which itself appeared in both the boss FATE overworld music “Hard to Miss” as well as the Eureka background theme “Wicked Winds Whisper.”) Since the tagline of XVI was “Defy your Fate” it’s no surprise that Souken took that leitmotif and transformed it into this lush orchestral and choral masterpiece for the boss fights of XVI.

I enjoyed XVI for what it is – a flawed masterpiece – but the one thing I have no complaints about is the soundtrack, as Souken continues to prove he is a worthy successor to Uematsu.
